Hi everyone! Happy Friday! I posted earlier this week that I’ve joined the Mixed Up Merchandise Printables DT and I’m super stoked to share my debut inspiration project! I created an altered paint brush which features a sentiment from the awesome Snarky Words Printables! OMG, a good inky time was had by all! I started out wearing gloves and my hands started sweating so I took the gloves off, had a drink of water and decided to eat some lunch while stuff was drying. When I got back to the project, I totally forgot to put the gloves back on, so I’m still sporting nice shades of blue and green ink on my fingers and hands, lol! UPDATE: Mixed Up Magazine has apparently undergone some changes and their blog has moved, so these links may no longer be viable.

This is the first paint brush I’ve ever altered – it’s been on my “To Do List” for a while so I decided that my debut project for the Mixed Up Merchandise Printables DT was the time to do one! I painted it with white gesso, then added texture with a mini dots stencil and texture paste on the handle (top portion above the metal band). I added lace trim and a handmade air clay embellishment on the metal band, then another coat of gesso and some crackle paint over the texture on the handle.

Then the fun began… spritzes of water and Ranger Adirondack Color Wash in Lettuce, Stream, Denim and Purple Twilight, along with more spritzes of water here and there, letting the ink run.

When the colors were exactly how I wanted them, I let everything dry and added some texture stamping and the #limitededition word strip that I inked with distress ink. I filled the center well on the air clay embellishment with Prills. First time I’ve ever used these and I think I like ’em! I added distress ink to the edges around the entire brush.

I added a chipboard leaf that I coated in Versamark and then heat embossed in Pewter embossing powder (I did this three times). Then I adhered a multi-loop bow with with a single rhinestone on top of it and some bamboo cord looped beneath it. You know I love my bows and I’ve been creating mostly CAS cards lately which haven’t had bows. I guess I was going through withdrawal, lol!

One final look. So very happy with how this turned out!
