birthday wishes

Hi everyone! Happy Friday and May 1st! It’s time for a new challenge over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #37 – Anything Goes + Masking! As you know, our challenges are always ‘anything goes’ and we offer an optional technique twist each month just to inspire you – and this month’s twist is masking! I created a… wait… one layer (yessss, one layer AND clean and simple!) birthday card featuring masking of a bunch of sweet feline friends wishing somebody a happy birthday!

I think this might be the second or third one layer card I’ve created in all my adult crafty life, lol – and it’s CAS – this doesn’t happen very often! I colored these little guys and gals with my Prismacolor Pencils so there would no bleeding through the cardstock. I really need practice as I’m still such a novice using colored pencils.

I stamped the ‘from all of us’ sentiment on the inside in black ink.

And one more peek… so sweet! I love it!

Crazy cat lady and crafting junkie! We have 10 feline rescues. I’m addicted to stamping and love making cards, ATCs, and 3-D projects (especially paper shoes, paper purses and mini albums). I also dabble in mixed media, art journaling, altered art and custom jewelry. If you’re looking for me, I’ll either be in my studio or getting some kitty lovins! ;)

  1. Super cute kitty card! And your coloring looks great for a pencil coloring newbie!!! In my experience, paper makes a big difference. Your Stampin’ Up paper is probably too smooth to allow you to mix colors. I buy Strathmore Bristol paper (not the vellum) from big box stores for my pencil images. Its even thick enough to make card bases from. And you’ll find if you use Gamsol to blend, you won’t have to worry about the color being opaque over the stamp lines. Colored pencils have a learning curve for sure but you are doing great! Thank you for sharing this great card with us at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies 😁
