Winter Wishes

Hi friends! I hope you had a beautiful weekend! We sure are having some chilly weather here but that’s the way we like it! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you – I really appreciate your support! I have another sample to share that I created for Prickley Pear Stamps, and this one features the gorgeous Ornaments Set 2 stamp set and Ornament die used with a pretty alcohol ink background on vellum. I’ve been having such a good time playing with alcohol inks here lately. These backgrounds are so fun and no two ever turn out the same! And you know me… I craft Christmas-themed projects year round!

I used Ranger Aqua, Sailboat Blue and Purple Twilight alcohol inks along with Ranger alcohol blending solution to create the background on a Core’dinations 65# vellum panel, and then pressed on some silver foil in a few places just before the alcohol ink dried completely. This adds such awesome interest! About 24 hours later, I ran the vellum panel through my Xyron 510 and adhered it to a piece of GKD 120# Pure Luxury White cardstock to give it a bit of stability before I trimmed it.

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock along with a silver metallic foil layering panel. Using the Prickley Pear Stamps Ornaments Set 2 stamp set, I stamped an ornament in Catherine Pooler Something Borrowed ink, embellished the snowflakes with a Pentel Slicci silver pen and Ranger Glossy Accents, and cut it with the coordinating Prickley Pear Stamps Ornament die. I die cut a second ornament and embellished it with clear gemstones colored with a very light blue alcohol marker. I affixed Really Reasonable Ribbon silver metallic string to the ornaments to hang from and adhered them to the inked panel, popping the stamped ornament up on Darice Double-Sided Adhesive Foam Circles. I added several Eyelet Outlet Snowflake Brads and then adhered the panel to the silver metallic foil layer. I stamped the sentiment in blue ink on a scrap piece of solar white cardstock, trimmed it and adhered it to a scrap piece of CutCardStock Astrobrights Lunar Blue cardstock. I trimmed it again and adhered it in the lower right corner to complete the card front.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a leftover strip trimmed from the inked vellum panel and a narrow silver metallic foil strip. I added a CRAFTplorations Comfort & Joy Clear Sticker and adhered the panel to a CutCardStock Astrobrights Lunar Blue cardstock panel.

And one more peek… so loving how this turned out! These ornament stamps and die are so pretty and such a joy to work with!

  1. Gorgeous card – loving the alcohol background. I am playing with alcohol inks too – but I see I need more practice – Thank you for joining us at ABC Christmas Challenge xx Lynda/Loopyloo DT
