Happy Healing Bouquet

Hi friends! Hump Day has rolled around again and we’re almost to the end of March already! I’m delighted to be back on the ScraPerfect Blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! First order of business is to let you know that this post contains affiliate links. I have a fun project to share today – a box card bouquet of flowers in a mason jar! Those who know me know that I’m a real sucker for fancy folds and I’m always on the look-out for new ones to try! ;)

2020_0217001

I subscribe to a variety of email newsletters and when I saw this adorable box card, I just HAD to have the cut file! I started by separating all the elements in the cut file and cutting them with my Scan N Cut from various colors of cardstock. I put the bouquet together first, adhering the pieces with Best Glue Ever with a No-Clog Writing Cap. Using one of the Wheels of Embellies collections, I added a Gold ‘n Pearl gemstone to the center of the rose in the bouquet using Embellie Gellie. The Gold ‘n Pearls are my new favorite embellishment, and I can’t talk enough about how fabulous the Embellie Gellie is… just mold a small ball on the end of the stick and you have a wonderful pick-up tool that ‘grabs’ your small embellishment from your desk and releases onto your project. It’s really amazing stuff! ;)

2020_0217002

I then hand-cut the three acetate pieces and adhered the outer mason jar, lid and bottom pieces with Best Glue Ever. You would never believe how dirty the acetate got while I was handling it… I thought I had clean hands! So, I whipped out my trusty Best Cleaner Ever and a Q-Tip, and cleaned a couple small areas of extraneous glue (where it came from, I’ll never know). Then I pulled out my Perfect Cleaning Cloth and gently cleaned the rest of the acetate pieces, front and back. I moved to the inside and adhered the stems to the inner mason jar acetate with Best Glue Ever, and then adhered the acetate in place. I finished the card with a stamped get well greeting and some twine tied in a  bow.

Here are a few shots of the card from different angles. So cool – I love it!

And one more peek… I’m so loving how this turned out! The sky is the limit with regard to occasions and color/patterns! This one is obviously a get well bouquet and I think the next one I make will be for my daughter for Mother’s Day! ;)

2020_0217008

Okay, okay, before I end this post, I have to share a pic of my frequent light box visitor, Loki, who came just as I was taking the light box apart. Hubby named him very appropriately, as Loki means God of Mischief! And is he ever! ;)

Glittered Vintage Santa Ornaments

Hi friends! Happy Hump Day! I’m delighted to be back on the ScraPerfect Blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! First order of business is to let you know that this post contains affiliate links. I have a fun project to share – a set of ten glittered vintage Santa ornaments created from a set of digital tags!

2020_0213007a

If you’re interested in my stepped-out tutorial, see my post on the ScraPerfect Blog. Thinking outside the box a bit, I used a fantastic sheet of digital vintage Santa tags to create these ornaments. I printed the tags on 60# Hammermill paper, fussy cut each one, embossed with iridescent embossing powder and then again with clear embossing powder. I used the Perfect Cleaning Cloth multiple times to clean stray embossing powder from my craft table. Then each tag was adhered to heavy kraft cardstock with Best Glue Ever and a No-Clog Writing Cap to make into an ornament. I punched a 1/8″ hole in the top of each ornament and threaded narrow ribbon through the hole.

And one more peek at the set… totally loving how these ornaments turned out! Now I can’t wait for Christmas to gift them! ;)

Happy Birthday

2/29/20 Spotlight Winner at A Perfect Time To Craft Open Challenge!

Hi friends! Hope your week is off to a great start! I’m delighted to be back on the ScraPerfect Blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! First order of business is to let you know that this post contains affiliate links. I have a fun project to share – a pretty birthday card featuring a CAS panel popped up on colored foam!

2020_0202001a

I created the card base and trimmed down the background panel. I stamped and heat embossed the floral swag image and used the Perfect Cleaning Cloth to clean the speckles of embossing powder from my desk… *sigh* I can’t ever heat emboss without this happening. I colored the image with bright markers and put it off to the side while I trimmed the teal-colored foam to go behind the background panel and the inside panels. I adhered the focal image to the foam with Best Glue Ever and a No-Clog Writing Cap. I let the glue dry to a clear state so it was good and tacky. This ensures a good bond. I added three Gold ‘n Pearls using Embellie Gellie. I love Embellie Gellie – just mold a small ball on the end of the stick to aid in the placement of your embellishments. Use a small bit for tiny embellishments and a slightly larger bit for larger embellishments. There’s just enough ‘tack’ to pick up the embellishments which release easily onto your project. And these Gold ‘n Pearls are my new favorite – they look so elegant and come in gorgeous colors!

2020_0202002a

I embellished the inside panel with a strip of teal cardstock, stamped the inside sentiment and layered the panel on the teal cardstock.

And one more look… I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out! And I need more birthday cards in my stash! ;)

Tips & Tricks

Removing tar from jeans with ScraPerfect Best Cleaner Ever

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday! I’ve popped in this morning with a different kind of post – not a crafty post, but a useful product post. I’m delighted to be back on the ScraPerfect Blog today with some tips for removing tar from jeans. First order of business is to let you know that this post contains affiliate links. And yes, washed and dried tar CAN be removed from jeans using one amazing product!

My husband sat down on a 5-gallon bucket that he didn’t realize had fresh tar on the top of the lid which resulted in a gnarly tar stain on the seat of his pans. He said he didn’t care because they were work pants and work pants didn’t need to look clean, lol! So the pants got washed and dried at least three times before somebody teased him about it looking like he pooped in his pants. Then he decided that maybe “we” needed to see what we could do to get the tar out. I decided to use Best Cleaner Ever to see what it would do. I’ve been using Best Cleaner Ever for several years to clean gummy adhesive off my scissors in my studio so I was hopeful that it would work on the tar. This is what his pants looked like when I started.

IMG_20200111_134029181

First application of Best Cleaner Ever which I let sit for 15 minutes.

IMG_20200111_134647627

Second application which I let sit for 30 minutes. There’s already a noticeable difference!

IMG_20200111_140250424

Third application which I let sit for another 30 minutes.

IMG_20200111_143107457

I used an old Cricut scraper from my studio to scrape off the tar, applied a little more Best Cleaner Ever which I let sit for 45 minutes, and then I washed the pants.

IMG_20200111_154533832

Here are the pants just out of the washer, noticeably cleaner but there’s still a stain, so I applied more Best Cleaner Ever and let it sit for another 45 minutes. I used a scrub brush over the stained area and washed the pants a second time.

IMG_20200111_154641366

Here are the pants out of the washer a second time and while they are still more noticeably clean, there’s still a slight stain so I applied more Best Cleaner Ever and let it sit for another 45 minutes. I took the scrub brush to the stained area again and washed the pants a third time.

IMG_20200112_131014907

Now check this out – pants out of the washer the third (and final) time. No more tar and Ed is a happy camper! It took several hours and three washes, but the results are definitely worth it! Perseverance paid off! ;)

Happy Birthday

Hi friends! Happy Saturday! I’m delighted to be back on the ScraPerfect Blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! First order of business is to let you know that this post contains affiliate links. I have a fun project to share – an absolutely adorable birthday card that’s fairly simple but packs a powerful punch!

2020_0101013a

This is a bi-level card base, meaning the front flap is cut slightly shorter than the back. I colored the digital image with Prismacolor pencils and cut it with a stitched oval die, then adhered it to a stitched mini scallop oval die cut with Best Glue Ever and a No-Clog Writing Cap. I adhered both oval die cuts to the front of the card base with Best Glue Ever. I picked out five paper flowers that I wanted to use and applied Best Glue Ever to the backs of each. I let them dry to a clear state so they were nice and tacky, and then applied them to the front of the card. This is some pretty amazing glue. It always remains tacky, and letting it dry clear will ensure a superb bond. These flowers aren’t going anywhere. ;)

2020_0101014a

I used Embellie Gellie to place the tiny white flat-back pearls in the upper left and lower right corners. This is also some pretty amazing stuff. Just mold a little ball on the end of the stick and without fail, it aids in the placement of your embellishments. Use a small ball for tiny embellishments and a slightly larger ball for larger embellishments. There’s just enough tack to pick up the embellishments and which easily release onto your project.

2020_0101015a

I embellished the inside with coordinating digital papers and cardstock, along with a digital sentiment cut with a stitched rectangle die. As mentioned earlier, the back flap of the card base is slightly longer than the front, so the main birthday sentiment strip will be visible when the card is closed.

2020_0101016a

One more look… super happy with how this turned out! I don’t use paper flowers very often anymore but I really love how they look. I might just have to re-think that… ;)

Happy Easter

Hi friends! Happy Saturday – hope you have a wonderful weekend planned! I’m delighted to be on the ScraPerfect Blog today with my first ScraPerfect DT inspiration project! First order of business is to let you know that this post contains affiliate links. I have a fun project to share – an adorable Easter shaker card! I absolutely love shaker cards and it’s been a while since I created one so I figured it was about time. ;)

2020_0101008a

If you’re interested in my stepped-out tutorial, see my post on the ScraPerfect Blog. I used a super cute digital image and sentiment along with a couple of my favorite stitched oval and rectangle dies. All elements were adhered with Best Glue Ever and a No-Clog Writing Cap, and I slightly rubbed the image with the Perfect Crafting Pouch (Strap-N-Tap used here) to get rid of any static. I used Embellie Gellie to place the gemstones.

2020_0101009a

My shaker filler is Gorgeous Glitter, which comes in a set of eight colors in adorable little bottles that can be repurposed when the glitter is gone. How fun is that?! ;)

2020_0101010a

I kept the inside fairly simple with a layered sentiment cut with stitched rectangle dies.

2020_0101011a

And one more peek… totally loving how this turned out!
