FUN

Hello, my crafty friends! Hope you had a great weekend! A new challenge launched over at UnstampaBelles last Monday and today is my showcase day on the blog! I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for Challenge #95 – Paradise Pretties and Tropical Delights! The twist this month is ‘In to the Wild.’ The twist is not mandatory to play but we’d love to see your creativity and it will put you in the running for DT Favorite! And there’s a prize in the mix… a $15 AUS gift voucher… so let’s see what you got!

I created a fun tropical friendship card featuring a pile of die cuts. The white hibiscus flowers and palm tree were freebies I received with a Funkie Junkie Boutique order a while back, and the rest of the die cuts are from the American Crafts Amy Tangerine pack.

2019_0605009a

Despite all the layers, this really was an easy card. I put the die cuts where I wanted them and then adhered them down. The final touches were some simple white dots inside the F-U-N letters with a white Gelly Roll pen and the silver glitter flower stickers in the bottom right corner.

2019_06050010a

I decorated the inside with leftover strips of paper and cardstock used on the front, along with a piece of ephemera from the Amy Tangerine pack.

2019_06050011a

And one final look… loving how this turned out! What a fun card, lol!

Thank You

Hello, my crafty friends! This week is nearing the end and I hope it’s been a good one for you! This month’s Anything Goes with Dies Challenge is live over at Happy Little Stampers and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project with you today! I created a pretty thank you card featuring a sentiment die cut on a large trellis frame background die cut.

I created two trellis frame die cuts to cover the card base – first a dark teal layer and then an ivory layer on top for a little tone-on-tone interest.

2019_0925017a

I created two ivory sentiment die cuts and layered them together, and then a dark teal layer on top for some dimension. I placed a tiny clear rhinestone in the center of each diamond aperture and added two Prima flowers.

2019_0925018a

I layered the inside panel on dark teal and stamped a sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.

2019_0925019a

And one more look… this really turned out nice and the teal really pops on the ivory!

happy Thanksgiving

Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a great week! I’m happy to share that I’m guesting for Scrapping4funChallenges again! One of my projects was featured several weeks ago so I was asked to be a guest designer for Challenge #153 – Thanks / Thanksgiving / Gratitude. Bugaboo is sponsoring so come on over and play for a chance to win a prize!

I created a Thanksgiving card using Bugaboo’s Autumn Jar digital image which I colored with my Studio 71 alcohol markers. I just love this image, and as all Bugaboo images are, it was a pleasure to color!

20191102001a

I cut the image with a stitched mini scallop rectangle die, stamped a sentiment at the top, and layered it on foam and then the background created from three colors and patterns of paper from one of my favorite paper pads. Then I added several dark brown sequins.

20191102002a

I embellished the inside panel with leftover strips of the papers used on the front and then stamped a sentiment.

20191102003a

Here’s one more look… loving how this turned out! This month starts my absolute favorite time of year! ;)

Hello, crafty peeps! It’s Hump Day and I hope you’re having a good week! This month’s ATC Challenge is live over at Happy Little Stampers! I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project with you today! The theme for our November ATC Challenge is Die Cuts and we’d love to see what you create for our challenge this month!

November 2019 ATC

I created a clean and simple ATC this month with a funny sentiment that coordinates with the die cut, both from Paper Smooches. ;)

2019_08170014a

This is a very simple design with three glasses layers for dimension, stamping in black ink, and black square and round gemstones.

2019_08170015a

One more look… this is another one that I’m not sure I want to trade, lol! I might just keep it! ;)

Pssst… You’re Fintastic!

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday and Happy Birthday to my sister in Heaven. I sure do miss her. A new challenge is live over at Stinkin’ Inkers this morning and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for our Die-lirious and Punchy challenge! We’d love to see your project featuring dies and/or punches! I created a fun birthday card featuring three little fish in a fish bowl. Super cute!

2019_0925009a

I used a Tonic ticket punch on the corners of the card base and background layers. I cut the fish bowl from clear acetate and then a layer of blue crinkle paper behind it for the water. I stamped and die cut several fish and placed them in the bowl, then stamped the sentiment in Jet Black StazOn ink. The sentiments used on the front are from Paper Smooches and Paper Pretties stamp sets.

2019_0925010a

I embellished the inside panel with leftover strips of the paper and cardstock used on the front, and then stamped the sentiment from the Paper Pretties stamp set.

2019_0925011a

One more look… so stinkin’ cute! Love how this turned out!

hello Friend

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! It’s November 1st and this month’s challenge is live over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog! I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #31 – Anything Goes + Watercoloring. All of our challenges are ‘anything goes’ and we offer a technique twist each month to inspire you, and the twist is not required to play. This month the twist is watercoloring and it can be the background, the focal image or some other part of your project. I created a gorgeous and very vivid background using turquoise, blue and green Brushos spritzed with water. This is my first project with a raised inlaid die cut sentiment that I’m calling ‘phantom die cutting.’ This is actually a pretty fun technique where you die cut into your background and then again on foam, adhere the foam die cut into the negative space, and then adhere the flat background die cut on top of the foam. This yields a very cool raised effect!

2019_0813009a

After creating the background with Brushos and drying it with my heat tool, I spattered white ink with a fan brush. I then die cut the sentiment at an angle and adhered a white foam die cut in the negative space, then adhered the flat die cut on the foam. I adhered the ‘friend’ sentiment under the die cut and then a few sequins. My hubby came into my studio while I was deciding on the color of sequins and suggested going with silver, so that’s what I did. ;)

2019_08130010a

I embellished the inside panel with leftover strips from the watercolor background and the turquoise card base. The inside sentiment (as well as the one on the front) is a Tim Holtz Quotations sticker which I layered on white cardstock.

2019_08130010aa

And one more look… I’m in love with this watercolor background! And I need to do this ‘phantom die cutting’ technique more often – I love how it looks!

With Deepest Sympathy

11/30/19 Spotlight Winner at A Perfect Time To Craft Open Challenge!

Hi friends! Happy Friday! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #40 – November Anything Goes! I created a sympathy card in kraft and black, which is one of my all-time favorite color combos. I think I’ve mentioned before that you can pair just about any color with kraft and get a gorgeous result. This is the second sympathy card I’ve created using the triple layer stamping technique and I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

Leslie

I cut three kraft layers in graduating sizes, then I cut the mats for each and cut the card base from black cardstock. I positioned the kraft layers and stamped the large dahlia covering the background and then matted the stamped layers on the black cardstock pieces, adhered them together and then adhered the panel to card base. I stamped the sentiment on kraft and punched it with an oval punch, then layered it on a punched scalloped oval and adhered it in the center. I finished the front with three square gemstones.

2019_0726005a

I stamped the dahlia in the lower left corner of the inside kraft panel and then stamped the sentiment, and embellished the top of the panel with a leftover strip of black cardstock.

2019_0726006a

One more look… so loving this. I really don’t create many sympathy cards but I’m really pleased with how this turned out.

Christmas Boxes

11/30/19 Best Technique Winner at Classic Design Team Open Challenge Blog!

Hi everyone! It’s Fri-YAY!… are you doing the Happy Dance?! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for MLCCB #16 – November Anything Christmas Goes! I’ve been on a box ‘kick’ lately and have created a couple more – these are Christmas boxes that I’ve turned into decor which will look super cute displayed since we won’t be putting up a tree this year. We have nine cats, lol! They both have stitched square die cut sentiments on the front with wrinkled ribbon closures at the top (which I actually glued closed).

2019_0813001a

I used the Stampin’ Up Baker’s Box Thinlits to create these. Here are side shots – they remind me of milk cartons. So cute! ;)

2019_0813002a

I used wood-look paper for this box with a brown and burgundy color combo. I just love the vintage Santa!

2019_0813003a

I used green plaid paper for this box with a more traditional red and green color combo. This wrinkled ribbon is some of my favorite!

Proud to enter this set of boxes into the following challenges:

12/1/19 Top 3 at Color It Create It Show It Off!

Hi everyone! Happy Friday and Happy November 1st! Can you believe it?! This year is just a blur, lol! Our November challenge is live over at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #127 – Anything Goes! We are being sponsored this month by DRS Designs so come on over and play for a chance to win a prize! I played with Seashell Christmas Tree and created a Christmas card in non-traditional colors to add to my stack of cards to be mailed out on December 1st! It sure is coming fast!

2019_1021001a

After coloring the image with Prismacolor pencils and adding touches of gold to all the seashells, I trimmed the image to fit inside a gold metallic stitched rectangle die cut. I added white foam to the back of the panel and adhered it to the card base. I cut the ‘merry’ sentiment from the gold metallic cardstock and adhered it at an angle over the tree.

2019_1021002a

I stamped a beach-themed sentiment on the inside panel and embellished it with a leftover strip of the gold metallic cardstock used on the front along with a strip of pink cardstock. I then layered the panel on the pink cardstock and adhered it to the inside of the card base.

2019_1021003a

Here’s one more look… I’m so pleased with how this turned out and I hope the recipient likes it as much as I do! ;)

It’s much appreciated! Now I can’t wait until next year’s hop so we can do it all over again! LOL!

I created a fun romance card featuring… yep, you got it… another Tim Holtz Crazy Cat with accessories, all colored with my Studio 71 alcohol markers! OMG, this was so much fun! Check out his get-up… he’s definitely one of the coolest cats around! ;)

2019_1025001a

The yellow cardstock and patterned paper are all from GKD. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches. The sunburst is from Stampin’ Up and is another die I’ve had in my stash for several years and have never used. I have so many dies and I’ve been slowly going through all of them and using those I’ve never cracked. ;)

2019_1025002a

I added tiny dots of Morning Dew Crystal Drops on all the rays of the sunburst for a little interest. Okay, I can’t stand it! I’m loving this guy’s shades, hat and tie! I even added Glossy Accents to his sunglasses! ;)

2019_1025003a

I embellished the inside panel with leftover strips of cardstock and patterned paper used on the front along with an additional coordinating paper. The sentiment is from JessicaLynnOriginal – one of our Cat Lovers Hop sponsors!

2019_1025004a

And here’s one more peek… I wasn’t too sure how this was going to turn out but I’m so glad I stuck with it until the end because I LOVE IT! ;)
