you color my world

Hi friends! I hope you had a great week and have something fun planned this weekend! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I’m guesting this month for Just Us Girls Challenge and I’m delighted to share my project for Color Week #572 – Rainbow Colors! I’ve mentioned before that clean and simple cards have always been intimidating, but over the last year or so I’ve become more comfortable creating them. When Vicki sent me the challenge graphic, I knew immediately what I was going to create! I used stamp sets from Paper Smooches and Prickley Pear Stamps to create a CAS love-themed card featuring a shimmery rainbow with puffy clouds. How stinkin’ cute is this?!

And here is our color prompt:

I created a standard A2 top folding landscape card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110# cardstock and rounded the bottom right corner. I stamped the rainbow and little birds on the card base and colored them with Prismacolor pencils. I added shimmer to the rainbow with a Clear Star Gelly Roll pen. I stamped the clouds on a Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110# cardstock scrap, die cut them with the coordinating die and affixed them to the ends of the rainbow with foam tape. I stamped the sentiment in the bottom right corner and added two hearts stamped on a Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110# cardstock scrap and die cut with the coordinating die.

I kept the inside super simple with just a sentiment stamped in red and colored in with the Clear Star Gelly Roll pen, and an added black glitter alpha sticker.

And one more look… such a fun design! Sometimes less is more! ;)

1/31/21 DT Favorite Winner at A Perfect Time To Craft Open Challenge!

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend and stayed indoors where it’s safe, warm and cozy! I’m stoked to be back on the CutCardStock blog today with an awesome DT inspiration project featuring Astrobrights cardstock that was included in our Designer’s Pack – which happens to be on sale this month so be sure to get some! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I created a fun Valentine in non-traditional colors. Valentines are typically pink and/or red, and this one is bright yellow and hot pink!

I cut a 5″ square top-folding card base from Classic Crest Solar White 110# cardstock along with an inside panel from Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock. I cut a front background panel from hot pink and white dotted patterned paper. I die cut a large sunburst from Astrobright Solar Yellow cardstock which I adhered to the patterned paper background, and then adhered a die cut stitched heart cut from Raspberry Ice cardstock to the center of the sunburst. I stamped the sentiment in black on one of the sunburst rays. I stamped, colored and die cut a Crazy Bird focal element for the card front, layering the eyes/beak and wing four times for some dimension. The finishing touch was the addition of randomly-spaced Morning Dew Crystal Drops on all the sunburst rays for a little interest.

I embellished the inside panel with a strip of hot pink and white dotted patterned paper and a narrow strip of the bright yellow cardstock along with a small die cut stitched heart, stamped the sentiment in black ink and layered the panel on the yellow cardstock.

And one more peek… totally loving this Valentine in the bright yellow and hot pink color combo! The Astrobrights cardstock is amazing!

You color my world

Hello, my crafty friends! Hope you’re having a great weekend! Our February challenge over at Let’s Craft and Create went live on the 5th and I’m stoked to share my mid-month DT inspiration project for Challenge #122 – Love Is In The Air. I recently purchased the CC Designs ‘Dragonfly Floral’ rubber stamp from Little Miss Muffet and I’m totally smitten! This is, without a doubt, one of the most gorgeous stamps I’ve ever owned. I absolutely love it! I created a CAS card with very few embellishments.

2017_01080004a

I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and stamped a vertical sentiment, and layered it on some black shimmer cardstock. I layered the panel on foam for some dimension, and added some crocheted lace and a few sequins. This image is so gorgeous, it really didn’t need much to showcase it.

2017_01080005a

I colored the dragonfly’s wings with Spectrum Noir Crystal Clear Sparkle marker.

2017_01080006a

I kept the inside very simple with just a stamped sentiment on a layered panel.
