for the new two

Hi friends! I know, I know… today is a super busy day on my blog with all the new challenges launching on this fine first day of May! I hope you’ll join us for some fun! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Birthstone Challenges and I’m delighted to share my DT inspiration project for BSC #9 – Emerald & Pearl + optional Wedding/Anniversary/Engagement! I pulled out older Stampin’ Up stamps and dies for this pretty wedding card with vellum. I love vellum on a card (especially when it’s colored) and I don’t use it nearly enough.

Card base was cut from CutCardStock Cougar Smooth 100# White along with a layering panel from Cougar Smooth 80# White. I also cut panels from CutCardStock Royal Sundance Linen Emerald and Glama Natural Translucent Vellum. I die cut a floral panel using the Sizzix/Stampin’ Up Detailed Floral Thinlits which I adhered on top of the vellum and then colored the underside of the vellum. I stamped the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up For The New Two stamp set in Delicata White Shimmer ink and then quickly applied Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder and heat embossed it. The finishing touch was adding Eyelet Outlet 4mm white pearls.

I cut the inside panel from Cougar Smooth 80# White cardstock and embellished it with a strip of the vellum and emerald linen cardstock used on the front. I adhered the vellum strip with Art Glitter Dries Clear Adhesive which is barely noticeable under vellum. Good stuff! I stamped the sentiment in Memento Northern Pine and layered the panel on the emerald linen.

Babies are a Blessing

Hey everybody! How’s the weather where you are on this awesome first day of January?! It’s pretty darn chilly here but us ‘chill mongers’ don’t mind! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Birthstone Challenges and I’m delighted to share my DT inspiration project for BSC #7 – Anything Goes with Garnet & Amethyst + optional NEW BEGINNINGS (new job, new home, new baby, etc.) First up is some news about our challenges – we’ve been playing straight anything goes with the featured birthstone colors since we started this new challenge in January 2023, so we’re adding an optional theme to each challenge this year for a little interest. Just remember, the themes are optional and not required to play. Participants are more than welcome to continue playing ‘anything goes’ but we’d love to see some creativity with the themes!

I opted for a new baby theme and created an adorable baby card using my Cricut Explore Air 2 and the Baby Belly Card SVG cut file from My Scrap Chick. I’ve made a couple of these cards previously and I love this cut file so much that I just had to make another one!

I used a variety of cardstock from CutCardStock – Basis Natural for the baby’s body and front sentiment, Curious Metallic Violette for the diaper, Astrobrights Eclipse Black for the baby’s mouth, Basis Dark Red and Bright Silver Foil for the diaper pin, and Cougar Smooth White for the baby’s tooth. Prior to assembling the card, I inked the edges of the pieces with Ranger antique linen distress ink for some definition and then used tattered rose distress ink for the cheeks. I stamped the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up Charming Sentiments stamp set in Memento Elderberry ink and cut it with the coordinating Stampin’ Up Sentiment Silhouettes die set.

I cut the inside layer from Cougar Smooth White. The inside sentiment is also from the Stampin’ Up Charming Sentiments stamp set, stamped in Memento Elderberry ink and cut with the coordinating Stampin’ Up Sentiment Silhouettes die set. I added a heart that I die cut from Basis Dark Red (using a die in the same set).

Have a perfect day

Howdy peeps! It seems like this new year just started and here we are closing in on the next to the last month! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Birthstone Challenges and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for BSC #6 – Anything Goes with Topaz & Turquoise! In keeping with my quest this year to use either never-been-used or barely-used stamps and dies in my stash, I’ve used this stamp set from Clearly Besotted to create a CAS birthday card. I’ve had it for some time and think I’ve used it once before, so it’s definitely time for another play!

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base and two layering panels from CutCardStock Basis 110# White cardstock. I stamped the image with sentiment on one of the layering panels and colored the image with alcohol markers. I glued the two layering panels together for a little dimension and adhered them to the card base. The finishing touch was adding several gemstones from the Trinity Stamps Amber Glow Embellishment Mix with my Trinity Pick Up Stick.

I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and simply stamped a sentiment from the Keep It Simple Congratulations Sentiments stamp set.

Happy Friday, everybody! Wow, I cannot believe it’s the 1st day of September already! Where has this year gone?! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Birthstone Challenges and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for BSC #5 – Anything Goes with Sapphire & Opal Colors! I’ve used the gorgeous Sizzix Bohemian Botanicals 3-D Textured Impressions embossing folder to create the background on this pretty get well card. The texture on this background is phenomenal!

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock along with a layering panel from CutCardStock Basis Blue cardstock. I lightly spritzed the back of the layering panel with water in a Ranger distress sprayer and ran it through the Big Shot with the Sizzix Bohemian Botanicals 3-D Textured Impressions embossing folder. I stamped the sentiment from the Waffle Flower Essential Sentiments stamps in Catherine Pooler Suede Shoes ink on a Solar White cardstock scrap and cut it with a die from the Waffle Flower Essential Sentiments dies.

I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and stamped another sentiment from the Waffle Flower Essential Sentiments stamps in Catherine Pooler Suede Shoes ink.

Scrappy hugs,

A Merry Little Wish

Hi friends! Happy Saturday – I hope you have something fun planned this weekend! It’ll be a long weekend for many of our friends in the US celebrating Independence Day on the 4th! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Birthstone Challenges and I’m stoked to share my DT inspiration project for BSC #4 – Anything Goes with Ruby & Peridot Colors! I pulled out several older Stampin’ Up products and created a split panel Christmas card. The split panel fold is a fun one and I’ve made quite a few of these over the years.

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding landscape card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock and created the split panel feature. Next, I cut layering panels from red glitter paper in the American Crafts Christmas Print 6×6 paper pad. I stamped the trees from the Stampin’ Up Festival of Trees stamp set in Catherine Pooler Green Tea and Memento Lady Bug inks and punched them with the coordinating Stampin’ Up Tree Punch.

I punched stars for the tops of the trees from CutCardStock Basis Gold cardstock using the Stampin’ Up Itty Bitty Star Punch. I stamped the sentiment (from the same Festival of Trees stamp set) in Green Tea ink and cut it with a My Favorite Things Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strip die. The finishing touch was adding Darice tiny clear gemstones to the trees.

I cut the inside panel from Stampin’ Up winter Wonderland Designer Vellum Stack and embellished it with a narrow strip cut from the red glitter paper used on the front. I then added another sentiment from the Festival of Trees stamp set cut with a My Favorite Things Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strip die. I have to tell you that I switched to Art Glitter Dries Clear adhesive about six months ago and I’m so stoked that it’s completely invisible under the layer of vellum on the inside of this card!

Here’s to the next adventure

Hey everybody! Well, another Monday has rolled around… where the heck did the weekend go?! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Birthstone Challenges and I’m delighted to share my DT inspiration project for BSC #3 – Anything Goes with Emerald & Pearl Colors! I was really looking forward to this one because green happens to be my all-time favorite color! I used the Stampin’ Up Hats Off stamp set and Hat Builder dies to create this masculine birthday card. I don’t keep many guy cards in my stash so this came in handy. ;)

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from CutCardStock Basis 110# Natural cardstock along with layering panels from Crafter’s Companion Just For Men Brights Collection 6×6 paper which I adhered together and added a strip of Eyelet Outlet green dotted skinny washi tape at the seam. Using the Stampin’ Up Hat Builder dies, I die cut the hat pieces from CutCardStock Basis Green cardstock and scraps of the Just For Men patterned papers. I stamped the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up Hats Off stamp set, which completed the card front.

I cut the inside panel from Basis 80# Natural cardstock and embellished it with strips of the Just For Men patterned paper and Basis Green cardstock used on the front as well as a tiny hat die cut. I stamped the sentiment from the Keep It Simple Birthday Sentiments stamp set in Memento Morocco ink.

Scrappy hugs,

I sea it’s your birthday

Hey everybody! Happy Hump Day! I hope you’re having a great week! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Birthstone Challenges and I’m super excited to share my DT inspiration project for BSC #2 – Anything Goes with Aquamarine & Diamond Colors! This Mermaid Inchies stamp set and Nine Window Background Die (both from C.C. Designs) along with the iridescent paper were earmarked for a specific card but I missed the deadline when we got caught up in our move and my studio got torn apart. So I ended up using the supplies to make a fun birthday card for this challenge since the colors fit! This paper is so cool – the color changes depending on which angle you’re looking from!

I cut a 4-1/2″ x 5″ top folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock along with layering panels from CutCardStock Pop Tone Black Licorice and Pop Tone Sno Cone cardstock. It’s an odd size but I wanted it to fit the size of the background die. I stamped quite a few of the images in the stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on 80# Solar White cardstock and colored them with alcohol markers. I fussy cut them all, and as I typically do with fussy-cut images, I ran a Tuxedo Black marker around the edges for a more finished look. I positioned the images in the nine windows, reserving the upper right window for the sentiment which I stamped in Tuxedo Black ink on a Solar White scrap and cut with a Spellbinders Standard Circles Small die. The finishing touch was adding a few gemstones from the Trinity Stamps Aquamarine Ripple Embellishment Mix using the Trinity Pick-Up Stick.

I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with the sparkling paper, Sno Cone and Black Licorice cardstock used on the front. I stamped the sentiment (from the same stamp set) in Tuxedo Black ink.

Scrappy hugs,

Happy Birthday Old Fart

Hey everybody! Happy Sunday and Happy New Year! Can you believe 2023 is here already?! Our very first challenge is live this morning over at Birthstone Challenges and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for BSC #1 – Anything Goes with Garnet and Amethyst Colors! We’re so excited to bring this new challenge to blogland since so many others have closed, and we hope you’ll come over and play with us! We’d love to see your ‘anything goes’ project using one (or both) of the featured birthstone colors predominantly in your project! I used the Whimsy Stamps Old Geezer stamp set that I’ve had in my stash for some time but haven’t used yet, so I thought it only fitting to break it out for the hubster’s birthday card! Bahahaha! He’ll love it!

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from CutCardStock Basis 110# White cardstock along with a layering panel (wall) from a red striped patterned paper from Polly’s Paper Studio which I adhered to the card base. I created the floor with Eyelet Outlet wood washi tape and the base board with a scrap strip of CutCardStock Stardream Metallic Eris cardstock. The rug was die cut from CutCardStock Basis Dark Red cardstock using a Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals die and cut in half. Using the Art Impressions Matchbook Wall Accessories stamps, I stamped the wall lights and clock on Basis White cardstock, colored them with alcohol markers, and cut them with the coordinating dies. Finally, I stamped the old geezer (LOL) on Basis White cardstock, colored him with alcohol markers and fussy cut him, then added him to the scene. I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Solar White cardstock, trimmed it and added it to the scene (along with it’s companion sentiment) in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, which completed the card front.

I cut the inside panel from Solar White cardstock and embellished it with strips of the striped pattern paper and Basis Dark Red cardstock used on the front. I stamped the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up Something to Say stamp set in black ink, trimmed it and embellished it with hand-cut flags.
