life is full of wonderful

Hello crafty peeps! Gosh, the month of January has gotten away from us already! Today is my Featured Post Day on the Gecko Galz blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project featuring a gorgeous image from the True Loves Kiss Collage Set, Bo Peep paper from Miss Muffet Paper Pack, Pixie Dust paper from Neverland Paper Pack, and sentiment from the Charming Words Collage Set. This is my last post for Gecko Galz and I’d like to shout out to Lee Ann and the rest of the team for having me along these last few months! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself!

2018_12250005a

Despite the complex look, this really was an easy card to put together. I love the colors in the background papers (which match her dress) and built the card elements and layers off the colors. The pop of gold really makes a hit.

2018_12250006a

I embellished the inside panel with leftover strips of paper and cardstock used on the front, and stamped a fun quirky sentiment. :P

And here’s one more look… very pleased with how this turned out. These images are so pretty!

Hi everyone! Here’s wishing you all a beautiful, crafty and prosperous New Year! A new challenge is live this morning over at Gecko Galz and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for the January Love Stories Customer Challenge!

Jan challenge badge

I created a pretty ‘I Love You’ card featuring a very sultry image from the Gecko Galz True Loves Kiss Collage Set, along with Pirates Lagoon and Pirates Life papers from Neverland Paper Pack, fussy-cut butterflies from Pretty Little Butterflies Collage Set, and sentiment from Charming Words Collage Set. All of the Gecko Galz products used are complimented by a variety of heart die cuts made from gold foil cardstock and a music border die cut embellished with tiny clear rhinestones.

2018_12250001a

There’s kind of a funny story behind this card. Those who know me know that I’m a fun fold junkie… always looking for new folds to try, or reusing those I’m in love with. I think step cards are very cool and decided to try a double step card. Once finished, it just wouldn’t stand up right – it kept stretching out and laying flat. I double-checked and triple-checked my measurements and scorelines, and everything was correct according to the tutorial I watched. I wasn’t going to let it beat me, so I ended up adhering the steps closed on each side and adding some reinforcements and another score line!

2018_12250002a

I also added a stamped panel inside.

2018_12250004a

And it folds flat for mailing just like a regular step card. Despite the weird way I had to remake it, it turned out great and I’ll probably keep the instructions and make some more just like it! ;)

Happy to enter this card into the following challenges:

If the Tiara Fits (tag)

** 1/7/19 Top 3 at Creative Moments! **
** 1/13/19 Mixed Media Challenge Favorite at Happy Little Stampers! **

Hello, my crafty friends! A very Merry Christmas Eve to you all! Today is my Featured Post Day on the Gecko Galz blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for the 24 Days of Deck The Halls which is going on December 2nd thru 25th! Be sure to check out the Gecko Galz blog to see all the amazing design team projects!

I created a fun mixed media tag using one of the Snow Queens images along with elements from the Library Cards, Time Flies and Charming Words Collage Sheets. I started by cutting the image with a stitched oval die and layering it a couple times on thick white cardstock, then adhering it to a slightly larger die cut and then some Foamies foam on the back.

2018_11240009a

I tore the bottom off and inked the whole tag with the three shades of blue distress ink, then applied grit paste over the stencil on the top and right side of the tag. I adhered cork tape across the bottom and then a strip of a library card onto the cork tape. I then splattered opaque white pigment over the entire tag with a fan brush.

2018_11240010a

I adhered two sections of a clock in the upper right corner and along the bottom left, and then the Tiara sentiment across the library card strip on the cork tape at the bottom. I adhered the layered focal image and tucked a heart applique under the edge. I glued a cluster of seed beads at the bottom and added a few gold sequins to finish it off.

Snow Queen

** 12/7/18 Top 5 at QKR Stampede! **

Hi everyone! A brand new challenge is live over at Gecko Galz this morning and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for the December “Snow Queens” Customer Challenge!

Dec chall badge

The Winter Release is here and I used an absolutely gorgeous image from the Snow Queens 2 Collage Sheet and Fairyland paper from the Neverland Paper Collection. What gorgeous blues, don’t you agree?!

2018_11180017a

I layered the background paper on black cardstock and adhered it to the blue card base. I cut the image and the ‘snow queen’ name from the collage sheet. I applied Versamark over the entire image and then embossed it with Sparkle embossing powder and again with clear embossing powder to lock in the sparkle. I layered the image on black cardstock and again on silver mirror cardstock, adhered Foamies foam to the back, layered it on cream cardstock, and then adhered the piece to the background panel. I adhered the ‘snow queen’ name under the layered image.

2018_11180018a

For the inside, I layered the cream panel on black cardstock, embellished it with a strip of the leftover paper from the front, and stamped a sentiment.

2018_11180019a

Here’s one more look… you can just barely see the sparkle in the photo but it looks amazing in real life! Super happy with how this turned out!

all is calm, all is bright

Hello, my crafty friends! Happy Hump Day to you… we’re already a week into November! Woo-hoo! Today is my Featured Post Day on the Gecko Galz blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project, a corner card, featuring an absolutely adorable image from Gecko Galz Retro Christmas Collage Set. I love me some fancy folds and this corner card is one that I particularly love because it’s easily displayed by the recipient.

2018_08190012a

This is a super easy design. I layered the image on tan paper, then dark green paper, then ivory cardstock for stability. I rubbed the image to add to the vintage look. I then stamped the sentiment in StazOn ink and added a little shimmer to the pom-poms and mittens, and then set it aside. I cut panels from the embossed holly paper and layered them on the dark green paper, and then adhered them to the corner card base. The final step was attaching the image to the corner card base with two punched circles folded in half.

2018_08190013a

Here’s an overhead shot so you can see the construction. Very cool!

2018_08190014a

And one final shot of the card flattened and ready for mailing. Love it so much!

Season’s Greetings

Hi everyone! I’ve had a blast this busy Thursday morning showcasing my design team projects and I appreciate you hanging with me! A new challenge is live over at Gecko Galz and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for the November Jingle All The Way Customer Challenge!

Nov-challenge-badge

I created a retro Christmas card in vintage colors featuring an i mage from Retro Christmas Collage Set as well as scrabble type letters from the Alter It Digital Collage Sheets, and I love how it turned out! I’m kind of vintage myself so anything retro really appeals to me, lol!

2018_08190008a

I sponged a tiny bit of Antique Linen distress ink on the image to distress it a bit, embellished the tree limbs and ornaments with glitter pen, and then layered it on burgundy paper and glitter paper. I created a layered element from a coordinating patterned paper and adhered it to the background, and then layered the image on that. I fussy cut individual scrabble type letters spelling “Season’s” and covered them with Glossy Accents for a little interest, and when they were dry I adhered them vertically under the edge of the image. I used a few glitter gumdrops along the opposite edge.

2018_08190009a

I decorated in the inside with a few leftover strips of gold, burgundy and patterned paper from the front, layered the panel, and then stamped a sentiment.

2018_08190010a

One more look… very charming if I say so myself! ;)

2018_08050005a

This is a corner fold card – another fun fold which I dearly LOVE! This image is one of my favorites on the Retro Cuties Collage Sheet and I layered her on gold cardstock, then on red, and then again on the gold. This really makes the image pop. I layered some paper lace (hand-cut from a scrap) on red cardstock across the bottom, which I adorned with tiny dots of Crystal Drops after stamping a birthday sentiment.

2018_08050006a

I layered the inside panel on red cardstock and then again on the gold, and stamped a birthday sentiment.

And one final peek. I sure do love this fold – and I love how turned out! What a beautiful image!

2018_08050009a

I created an Impossible Card! Anybody who knows me knows that I absolutely love fun folds, and when I found this one, I went hog-wild and created several! So stay tuned for future posts featuring this amazing fold! I rounded all the corners on this one which yields a very cool look, and there are tons of flat layers. This saucy lady is layered on cardstock, white glitter paper, patterned paper and more cardstock. The stamp on the bottom band is from the Gecko Galz Bits & Pieces Digital Collage Set which I popped up on some foam. I cut several flags from cardstock and paper scraps, and adhered them under and out to the right of the stamp. I embellished the centers of all the flowers on the patterned paper with a shimmery Gelly Roll pen.

2018_08050010a

And one final look at this super cool card folded flat and ready to mail. The image folds forward to slide into the envelope and then when it is taken out of the envelope, it stands up by itself (see first photo above). Whoever created this fold is a genius, lol!

AMAZING

Hello again! I’m back with my third card that I’m sharing in the Gecko Galz Tricks & Treats Blog Hop. 2018_08040009a

The sentiment used on the front of this card is from the Gecko Galz Charming Words Collage Set. I thoroughly enjoyed creating this card and had a great time matching the colors in the image and layering the elements. I created the card base with a very cool A2 die set and layered a piece of pretty lace paper from my scrap stash as the background. I adhered this gorgeous lady image on a piece of black glitter paper which I adhered at an angle to the background. I popped the sentiment up on some foam strips and then finished the design with some large black rhinestones and small white pearls.

2018_08040010a

I cut the inside panel with one of the stitched dies in the A2 die set and then stamped a simple birthday sentiment.

2018_08040011a

And one final look… what an amazing card this lady made! She’s gorgeous! LOVE these Gecko Galz collage sheets!
