silent night

Hi everyone! Brrrrr… it’s nice and chilly here and that’s just the way we like it! Still shaking my head at how fast this year has flown by! The jolly guy in the red suit will be here in a few short weeks! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our new challenge has launched over at Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for MLCCB #41 – December Anything Christmas Goes! I created a pretty woodlands scene with debossed trees – this is the first time I’ve tried this technique and I love how easy it is! Not sure why I haven’t tried it before now, lol!

I created a top folding square card base from CutCardStock Royal Sundance Felt Natural cardstock and a panel for the front from CutCardStock Neenah Classic Crest 80# Baronial Ivory cardstock. I inked the raised side of the Stampin’ Up Woodland Textured Impressions embossing folder with Memento Espresso Truffle ink, placed the cardstock panel in the folder and ran it through the Gemini Junior. The debossed side is the back side that looks so cool, so I layered the panel on Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate cardstock and adhered it to the card base. I die cut the deer from Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate cardstock as well and added them to the card front. Love how the buck is watching and protecting the doe and their baby! ;) I punched a 1/2″ circle from the light yellow cardstock and adhered it in the sky, thinking it could be an early morning sun. I stamped, trimmed and layered the sentiment on a scrap of the brown cardstock, and adhered it in the top left corner. Finally, using the Prickley Pear Stamps Bird Cage stamp set I stamped the little bird on CutCardStock Red Wagon cardstock, cut it with the coordinating Bird Cage die, and adhered it to a tree branch.

I cut the inside panel from CutCardStock Neenah Classic Crest 80# Baronial Ivory cardstock and embellished it with a strip of Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate cardstock, stamped the sentiment in brown ink and layered the panel on the brown cardstock.

And one more peek… I’m going to have to do the debossed technique more often! Love how this turned out!

1/15/21 Winner at The Outlawz Songs & Rhymes Challenge!

Hi everyone! Hope you’re having a wonderful Saturday! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I’ve popped in this evening to share a card I created Thursday for The Outlawz Sunday Songs & Rhymes Challenge and then forgot to post it! Our sponsor this month is Katy’s Card Emporium and the song/rhyme is about reindeer, so I created a sweet forest scene with a buck and his young buck. ;)

I cut a standard A2 size side-folding card base from green cardstock and Neenah Classic Crest Baronial Ivory cardstock layers for the front and inside. I cut a couple Christmas trees from the same green cardstock, the two deer from brown cardstock and a moon from a pale yellow cardstock scrap, and arranged them on the front panel. I stamped the sentiment in brown ink, trimmed it and flagged one end, and layered it on a brown cardstock scrap which I trimmed leaving a small border.

I embellished the inside panel very simply with a narrow strip of brown cardstock, stamped the sentiment in green and brown inks, and adhered it to the inside of the card base.

And one more look… such a simple design that took less than 30 minutes to create! Love it when that happens!; )

Silent Night

Hi everyone! I hope you’re doing something fun this weekend but staying safe and doing the mask and social distancing thing! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I haven’t had a whole lot of spare time lately and have been wanting to play in The Outlawz Challenges this month. I found a few extra minutes today to create a pretty kraft and gold Christmas card to enter into the Festive Fridays Challenge! Our sponsor this month is Fred She Said and the themes to choose from are Christmas, Flowers, Pets, Birthday or Anything Goes. I’m still in full-on Christmas mode so I chose the Christmas theme!

I created a standard A2 size side-folding card base. I chose a kraft and gold paper pad and pulled out snowflake and plaid papers to create the background. I cut one reindeer from CUTplorations Two Reindeer Dies from a sheet of solid gold paper in the same paper pad and then cut another one from kraft to layer beneath the gold one for a little definition and slight dimension. I stamped the sentiment in brown ink, trimmed it and double-flagged one end. The finishing touch was the addition of a few pink gold-rim flat-back pearls.

I embellished the inside panel with strips of plaid and solid gold papers, stamped the sentiment in brown ink and layered the panel on gold paper.

And one more look… such a pretty but simple design!
