we remember moments

Hi friends! Wow, February has literally flown by! We still have a little snow on the ground where we are in southwestern Colorado but we sure don’t mind – we love it! This is my last post for Just Us Girls Challenge and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time guest designing this month! I’m stoked to share my project for Photo Week #573! How awesome is this inspiration photo?! Loving the northern lights background – and I found a super easy way to create it!

I originally planned to use distress ink to create the northern lights background but decided to use alcohol ink instead. The colors aren’t quite as vibrant but the black cityscape die cut sure pops against this background!

I created a standard A2 size landscape top-folding card base from Solar White cardstock along with a silver foil layering panel and a Yupo paper panel for the background. I dropped eggplant, cranberry, sailboat blue, aqua and lettuce alcohol inks onto the Yupo paper and then squirted alcohol blending solution across the top of the panel and let the blended inks run downward onto a paper towel. While the panel dried, I cut one black and one yellow cityscape. I adhered the black cityscape die cut to the bottom of the panel and then adhered the panel to the silver foil cardstock layer. I adhered all the windows from the yellow die cut into the negative spaces on the black die cut and stamped the sentiment in black StazOn ink. Once the StazOn was dry, I adhered the panel to the card base and added three tiny iridescent gemstones.

I dug through my scrap bin and found a couple light blue cardstock scraps and cut strips which I adhered down the left side of the inside panel along with a strip of black cardstock. I stamped the sentiment and layered the panel on silver foil cardstock.

And one more look… such a fun design that was so easy to create!

you color my world

Hi friends! I hope you had a great week and have something fun planned this weekend! I’m guesting this month for Just Us Girls Challenge and I’m delighted to share my project for Color Week #572 – Rainbow Colors! I’ve mentioned before that clean and simple cards have always been intimidating, but over the last year or so I’ve become more comfortable creating them. When Vicki sent me this challenge graphic, I knew immediately what I was going to create!

I used stamp sets from Paper Smooches and Prickley Pear Stamps to create a CAS love-themed card featuring a shimmery rainbow with puffy clouds. How stinkin’ cute is this?!

I created a standard A2 top folding landscape card base and rounded the bottom right corner. I stamped the rainbow and little birds on the card base and colored them with Prismacolor pencils. I added shimmer to the rainbow with a Clear Star Gelly Roll pen, then stamped and die cut the clouds and affixed them to the ends of the rainbow with foam tape. I stamped the sentiment in the bottom right corner and added two stamped and die cut hearts.

I kept the inside super simple with just a sentiment stamped in red and colored in with the Clear Star Gelly Roll pen, and an added black glitter alpha sticker.

And one more look… such a fun design! Sometimes less is more! ;)

Products used:
Cardstock/Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock

Accessories: Bearly Art precision craft glue, MISTI stamp tool; Prismacolor pencils- Crimson Red, Orange, Canary Yellow, Grass Green, True Blue, Indigo Blue, Violet; Gemini Junior, Scotch 3M foam tape, Darice black glitter alpha stickers

I hope you’ve enjoyed this project and will link up a project with us this week at JUGS using rainbow colors! Can’t wait to see what you create! Thanks so much for stopping by today – we’ll see you next time! ;)

CO-FF-EE

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve had a great week! How’s the weather where you are? It’s still a bit chilly here and we still have snow on the ground, which we love! I mentioned last week that I was invited to guest for Just Us Girls Challenge, and I’m thrilled to share my project for Trend Week #571 – Slimline Card. I’ve jumped on the slimline card wagon too, along with everyone else, so this was a card I enjoyed creating!

My card has gold glitter washi tape and skinny washi tape striped elements, and features stamped and die cut coffee cups on the front with a gift card holder on the inside. Perfect for that coffee-loving friend with a birthday – or some other reason to celebrate! My slimline cards are 9″ x 3-3/4″ because this slightly larger size fits better in a #10 envelope.

I cut the card base from navy blue cardstock along with three stitched oval die cuts and the alphabet letters to spell COFFEE. I cut front and inside layering panels from sand cardstock and rounded the bottom corners of the navy card base and the sand layers. I stamped four coffee cups in navy blue ink which I cut with the coordinating die. I arranged three sets of washi tape stripes horizontally across the front panel and adhered it to the card base. I adhered the stitched ovals to the panel and then the coffee cups with the letters.

I embellished the inside panel with a single set of vertical washi tape stripes and adhered it to the inside of the card base. I created a navy blue gift card envelope with my WRMK Envelope Punch Board and adhered a die cut sentiment. I then adhered the remaining die cut coffee cup and gift card envelope to the panel, leaving plenty of room for a signature.

And one more look… so pleased with how this turned out! I CASE’d my own design that I created for the Prickley Pear Stamps Hochanda showcase back in late October, but this one is slightly different.

Products used:
Cardstock/Paper: CutCardStock Wild Blueberry and Sandcastle cardstock
Stamps: Prickley Pear Stamps Coffee Cup stamp set
Ink: Stampin’ Up Night of Navy ink, Pentel Slicci Gold pen
Dies/Punches: Memory Box Stitched Oval Layers die, Prickley Pear Stamps Coffee Cup die, CUTplorations Alpha die set, Sizzix Celebration Words: Script die set, Kadomaru Pro corner rounder
Accessories: Tombow Mono permanent adhesive, Bearly Art precision craft glue, Peachy Cheap Gold Glitter Washi Tape, Me & My Big Ideas Skinny Washi Tape, MISTI stamp tool, Gemini Junior, We R Memory Keepers Pocket Punch Board

I hope you’ve enjoyed this project and will link up a slimline card with us this week at JUGS! Can’t wait to see what you create! Thanks so much for stopping by today – we’ll see you next time! ;)

2/18/21 Top 3 at Penny’s Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog!

Hi everyone! Hope you’re having a fantastic day! I’m super stoked to share that I’ve been invited by the awesome Vicki Dutcher to be a February guest designer for Just Us Girls Challenge! My first project is a Valentine for Word Week #570. This card features a variety of die cuts and a handmade Foamiran flower!

I learned how to make Foamiran flowers a while back and have only made a few. They are quite fun, I have to say! This card design is similar to one I made for another design team which features the very first Foamiran flower I made. I work ahead so you’ll see that card in several months. I used a different flower die for this flower and made this one in a different color. I die cut the leaves from green cardstock and DTP-inked the edges with mowed lawn distress ink. I adhered the leaves to a 3/4″ punched circle and then adhered the completed flower on top of that which makes it easier to adhere to the card front.

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from Royal Sundance Felt Natural cardstock along with a couple Baronial Ivory layering panels, one for the front and one for the inside, and a tiny Valentine card. I layered the front panel on Royal Sundance Linen Burgundy cardstock and then cut a layering panel for the inside and die cut a tiny envelope for my tiny Valentine card. I cut a scrap of patterned paper to die cut the tiny envelope flap liner and assembled the envelope. I die cut the connected oval and adhered it to the panel, then adhered the flower and the tiny envelope.

I stamped the row of hearts and the sentiment in dark pink ink on the tiny Valentine card, and adhered it on top of the envelope with foam dimensionals. The finishing touch was adding tiny iridescent gemstones to the hearts on the tiny Valentine card and three slightly larger iridescent gemstones to the upper left corner.

I die cut a vertical row of dimensional hearts into the inside panel and added a narrow strip of the burgundy linen cardstock. I stamped the Valentine sentiment in pink ink and layered the panel on the burgundy linen cardstock.

And one more look… totally smitten with this! And I have a good idea who will receive it! ;)
