Hi everyone! I’ve popped in this evening to share a fun slimline Christmas card I submitted to Creative Scrapbooker magazine in late June for consideration of publishing in their Winter 2020/21 issue. I received notification in mid July that they chose it for publication so I had to hold off on blabbing and posting until after the issue was released. I got the issue in the mail today and needless to say, I’m on Cloud Nine!

Slimline cards have certainly made a come-back – my sister sent me a package of slimline card bases with matching envelopes about 7-8 years ago and that was the first time I had ever seen them. Slimline cards were originally created to fit in a #10 business size envelope and 8-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ is the most common size used, although I’ve seen a variety of other sizes as well. My personal go-to size is a 9″ x 3-3/4″ card base which I think fits best in a #10 envelope.

I cut a panel of black cardstock to cover the front of the card base, and then cut three smaller panels from green glitter cardstock and die cut a square into each one of them. I die cut three stitched squares (using the same square die) from the green plaid paper. I taped the three glitter panels together on the back side and slightly trimmed them, added skinny Washi Tape to hide the seams, and adhered the piece to the card base.

I affixed the plaid squares into the openings and added white glitter alpha stickers. I heat embossed the Christmas sentiment in white on black cardstock, flagged one end with a small square punch, and added it to the bottom glitter panel. The finishing touch was the addition of a couple small black gemstones to each glitter panel.

I embellished the inside panel with the green plaid paper and black cardstock used on the front, stamped the sentiment in black ink, and layered it on black cardstock.

And one more peek… I’m totally loving how this turned out! And absolutely thrilled to have been published again! ;)
