HAPPY Tag Card

Hi everyone! I’m back with another post on this fine Thursday morning! Happy March – St. Patty’s Day will be upon us soon! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #11 – Anything Goes + Making Your Own Background! I had a super fun time creating a mixed media tag card featuring an Iridescent Gelatos background and some Julie Nutting stamps! I bought several of these awesome stamps and dies a few months ago and hadn’t used any of them yet, so I thought ‘now is the time!’

I made my 120# kraft card base into a tag by chopping off the top corners and then I adhered flat crocheted lace down each side. I created a gorgeous sparkly background on a piece of Arches Cold Press watercolor paper with several Iridescent Gelatos colors, some water and my gloved finger. While the background was drying, I stamped the Marisol doll image on ivory cardstock, cut it with the coordinating die, and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers. I paper-pieced her mini dress with Colorbok green Seeing Dots cardstock and affixed a double pearl necklace from a package of Julie Nutting Say It In Crystals.

I moved my focus back to the Gelatos background piece now that it was dry. I tore the long edges and applied opaque matte texture paste on The Crafter’s Workshop Mini Bricks stencil with a spatula and set it aside once again to dry. I cut four more doll shapes with the die and adhered them on top of each other and then adhered the colored image on top. I stamped several different flowers from the Julie Nutting Make Kindness Happen stamp set on ivory cardstock, colored them all with Spectrum Noir markers, and fussy cut them. I stamped the HAPPY sentiment in Versamark on an American Crafts file tab and white heat embossed it. By this time the background dry once again, so I ‘stamped’ with bubble wrap and green ink down the left side, and adhered it to the card base. I tucked the file tab on the left side and then adhered the doll and all the flowers in clusters.

I adhered an ivory panel to the inside of the card base and then added ribbon and twine. I added some left over flowers and a stamped sentiment at the bottom of the panel, leaving plenty of room to write a custom message.

Okay, here’s one more angled shot. I love this background and I’m smitten with these dolls!
