your unicorn has arrived

Hi everyone! A very Happy Tuesday to you! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I have some great news to share – I was personally recruited by the owner of The Outlawz Challenges to join the Tuesday Color Challenge DT! I’m elated – I love playing in all their challenges so why not throw in some inspiration while I’m at it?! The Outlawz Challenges has been running a DT Call and I had not applied because I really wasn’t looking to get on any additional challenge teams, but I just couldn’t resist Laurian’s invite, so here I am! A new ‘5 Colors Plus Twist’ challenge has started today over at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge and our sponsor is Polkadoodles so come on over and play! I was in the mood for a shaped card so I grabbed the adorable Polkadoodles Octavia Moonfly Unicorn digital image (part of a big kahuna download bundle) from my stash and created a sweet hybrid birthday card in a very cool shape! ;)

For the 5 Colors Plus Twist challenge this fortnight, we are to use at least three of the five colors shown in the photo below with a twist of adding a doily. I used pink, teal and purple.

I printed the precolored image on 60# Hammermill copy paper, cut it with a stitched mini scallop die, and layered it on a CutCardStock Basis Aqua cardstock stitched oval die cut. I stamped the sentiment in black StazOn ink and set it aside to dry thoroughly. I cut the shaped card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock along with a CutCardStock Basis Pink cardstock shaped layer. I adhered two narrow CutCardStock Silver Glitter cardstock strips vertically down the center of the card front with a narrow CutCardStock Stardream Metallic Amethyst cardstock strip between them. I added a purple tie-dyed doily which I cut in half and then adhered the layered focal image. I added iridescent gemstones for a little interest.

I adhered a CutCardStock Basis Pink cardstock shaped layer to the inside of the card base, then a slightly smaller Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock shaped layer embellished with strips cut from CutCardStock Basis Aqua cardstock and CutCardStock Silver Glitter cardstock and a sentiment stamped in purple ink.

And one more look… totally loving how this turned out! Such a pretty color palette we were given to work with!

Your unicorn has arrived

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday – I hope your week has started off right! Our new challenge over at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog launched this morning and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #137 – Anything Goes! Come on over and play – we know you love ‘anything goes!’ I used a CAS-ual Fridays Stamps stamp set for this magical birthday card featuring a unicorn and lots of glitzy shimmer!

2019_1227001a

I created the card base from white cardstock and rounded the bottom right corner. I added diagonal strips of pastel glitter paper to the background panel, stamped the unicorn in StazOn Jet Black ink and layered the panel on black cardstock. I stamped the unicorn again on white cardstock, fussy cut it and paper pieced it over the unicorn on the background panel. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom right and added some Crystal Drops to finish the front panel.

I embellished the inside panel with leftover strips of pastel glitter paper used on the front, layered the panel on black cardstock and then stamped the sentiment.

And one more peek… what a sweet card! I love it!
