With Deepest Sympathy

Hey everybody, Happy Wednesday – I hope you’re having a great week! I’m up on the Scrapbook Pal blog today sharing a tutorial for making a tone-on-tone sympathy card (with just a pop of color) which features the Honey Bee Bold Background: Chinoiserie Dies, Lovely Layers: Butterflies Dies and Heartfelt Condolences Stamps and Dies. Sympathy cards don’t come easy for most crafters but it sure helps to have beautiful products on hand to reflect the occasion. I feel like this card would make the recipient feel the love and power of prayer.

I cut the card base and two of each of the focal die cut elements (using the Honey Bee Bold Background: Chinoiserie Dies and Lovely Layers: Butterflies Dies) from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock. I layered both of the background die cuts on top of each other and then popped up the florals on thin foam squares, all for varying degrees of dimension.

I colored the butterflies with Copic Ciao alcohol markers and then added some Ranger antique linen distress spritz for a little shimmer. I stamped the sentiment from the Honey Bee Heartfelt Condolences Stamps in Versafine Onyx Black ink, cut it with the coordinating Heartfelt Condolences Die, and popped it up on thin foam squares. The finishing touch was adding a few iridescent gemstones.

I cut both inside panels from 80# Solar White cardstock and ran the Cadmium Yellow alcohol marker around the edge of the larger panel to simulate colored cardstock. I stamped another sentiment from the Heartfelt Condolences Stamps in the Versafine Onyx Black ink and added the remaining butterfly. How about that hack for getting an exact match of ink without using colored cardstock?!

11/30/19 Spotlight Winner at A Perfect Time To Craft Open Challenge!

Hi friends! Happy Friday! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #40 – November Anything Goes! I created a sympathy card in kraft and black, which is one of my all-time favorite color combos. I think I’ve mentioned before that you can pair just about any color with kraft and get a gorgeous result. This is the second sympathy card I’ve created using the triple layer stamping technique and I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

Leslie

I cut three kraft layers in graduating sizes, then I cut the mats for each and cut the card base from black cardstock. I positioned the kraft layers and stamped the large dahlia covering the background and then matted the stamped layers on the black cardstock pieces, adhered them together and then adhered the panel to card base. I stamped the sentiment on kraft and punched it with an oval punch, then layered it on a punched scalloped oval and adhered it in the center. I finished the front with three square gemstones.

I stamped the dahlia in the lower left corner of the inside kraft panel and then stamped the sentiment, and embellished the top of the panel with a leftover strip of black cardstock.

One more look… so loving this. I really don’t create many sympathy cards but I’m really pleased with how this turned out.

With Deepest Sympathy

Hello, my crafty peeps! Can you believe it’s the first of April already?! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m proud to share my DT inspiration for LTCCB #21 – April Anything Goes! I created a pretty sympathy card in a yellow and purple color combo. Sympathy cards are not easy to create but we always need to have a few in our stash.

Patterned paper and stamps are from Dare 2B Artzy. Seam binding ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. Image colored with Spectrum Noir markers. I added several loops of white quilting thread behind the bow for a little interest, along with a few tiny clear rhinestones.

I kept the inside fairly simple with just a stamped image on a panel layered on purple cardstock.
