Time

Hi everyone! Hope you’ve had a great Monday! Today is Day 1 of the 2020 Cat Lovers Hop and I’ve stopped in this evening to share a cat card I created this afternoon. We had our first snow of the season last evening (several inches) so it was a great day to stay indoors and craft! The Hop is going on until the 31st, so if you’re a fellow cat lover, come join us! There’s a lot of fun and games to join in every day, and Janis has been busy lining up some pretty awesome prizes to give away at the end!

While sympathy cards for humans or pets aren’t easy to create, we always need to have a few in our stash. I pulled out a cat sentiment stamp set that I’ve had in my stash for probably close to a year and have never used, and the sympathy sentiment spoke to me, so that’s the direction I went.

I cut a standard A2 size top folding card base, a small panel for the front and a panel for the inside from white cardstock. I covered the small panel with clock washi tape and cut a strip off which I popped up on white craft foam for a little interest. I die cut four cats from black cardstock and adhered them on top of each other. I adhered white craft foam to the back of the panel and positioned it on the card base to get an idea of where to stamp the sentiment.

I moved the panel out of the way, stamped the sentiment and paw prints, and then adhered the panel to the card base. I added a thin strip of light brown cardstock above and below the popped up panel, adhered the stacked cat die cuts and added a few enamel dots.

I embellished the inside panel with a piece of the clock washi tape and a narrow strip of the light brown cardstock, stamped the sentiment and paw prints in brown ink, and layered the panel on the light brown cardstock.

And one more look… totally loving how this turned out!

Wow, I really love this CAS cat sympathy card so much. The washi tape embellishment gives a wonderful timeless appeal and I’m going to have to try that technique of popping up a strip for dimension.

Hello Leslie – so good to see you at the Cat Lovers Blog Hop again! Your card is beautiful! It is so difficult to get the right balance on sympathy cards, but this one hits the spot – beautiful sentiments inside and outside. I like how you layered the stamped card and initially I thought it was a face mask (see how Covid is taking over our lives!). Looking forward to seeing more of your projects xx

What a true sentiment, Leslie! Over the years, I’ve had and lost many fur babies but they al still have a place in my heart and in my memory. Good to see you again at Cat Lovers. :-D

A beautiful and touching card. This types of cards are so needed to help support friends and family in loosing a pet. I love the little black silhouette and the hint of ‘time’ through the washi tape. Just lovely. Happy hopping with Cat Lovers!

I just love this card. And you are so right. It’s important to have a pet sympathy card on hand, even though it’s not something we like to think about. Wonderful to meet you through the Cat Lovers Hop.

Beautiful card! I’m going to have to remember that sentiment because it is so true! It made me smile thinking of my “furry friends” that have passed. They remain in my heart. :)

Sympathy cards are always so hard to create no matter who is for! Plus our pets are parts of our families. You made a lovely sympathy card and I am sure the person will appreciate your thoughtfulness!

  9. You’ve got that right. My Muffin has been gone for 16 years but he is still so deep in my heart. What a wonderful sympathy card. Such an awesome sentiment. I like how you finished the inside too.

    Hi, Leslie….
What a beautiful cat sympathy card. You are so wise to keep a few of these on hand. I never seem to have one when I need to send one out. I really love your design. What a great way to use your clock washi with this sentiment. Love how you finished the inside, too. A lovely heartfelt card that will be appreciated by someone who has just lost a beloved kitty.
Thank you so much for being a part of our #2020CatLoversHop!!!
