Foiled Reindeer

Hi friends! I’m baaaaack… as I mentioned in my last post, I’m chomping at the bit to post a couple cards I created with my new Glimmer Hot Foil Machine, an early birthday present I received nearly a month ago. This thing is so stinkin’ fun I can’t stand it! All I’ve had time to create so far is a stack of sentiments and haven’t even used any of them on my projects, lol! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you – I really appreciate your support! So this other card is a red tone-on-tone Christmas card with a fun reindeer-themed focal element and lots of shiny blingy gold!

Unfortunately, I could not get a good angled shot of this card… if you’ve ever worked with foil, you know how difficult it is to photograph! I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest Baronial Ivory cardstock. Using the Glimmer Hot Foil Machine and Gold Foil, I created a background with the Scattered Dot Pattern Glimmer Plate on CutCardStock Basis Red cardstock as well as the focal element using the Reindeer Games Glimmer Hot Foil Plate on the red cardstock. I cut layering panels from gold metallic foil cardstock and the foiled dot pattern, and adhered them to the card base. I adhered the foiled focal element and several gold glitter enamel dots. I decided at that moment that I should have layered the focal element on the gold metallic foil cardstock as well, so I painstakingly (lol) adhered super narrow strips around it. That achieved the look I was going for. ;)

I cut inside layers from gold metallic foil cardstock, CutCardStock Basis Red cardstock and Neenah Classic Crest Baronial Ivory cardstock. I embellished the ivory panel with a leftover strip cut from the foiled dot pattern background on the front and two strips of gold metallic foil cardstock, adhered the layers together and then to the card base. I added a foiled sentiment created with the Holiday Sentiments Series 2 Glimmer Plates to complete the card.

And one more look… have I said how much fun I’m having with this new crafty machine?!

I'm definitely what one could consider a crafting junkie! I love making cards, 3-D projects (especially paper shoes, mini albums and gift bags), mixed media projects, altering items, as well as occasional beading and making jewelry! Fortunately, hubby is very supportive! Life is good! :D

  1. Wow, this is such a beautiful card. I have been working on Glimmer cards today, but unlike you, I am having such a frustrating time. My husband helped getting everything straight for me. I didn’t even post the card he did because it didn’t photograph well, but he is definitely better at it than me!
