Hey everybody, happy Wednesday and welcome to June! We’re nearly to the middle of the year already! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a really nice masculine card. A ‘just because’ card, because who needs a formal excuse to tell a guy he rocks?! Could be the hubs, a family member or a good friend! I used several varieties of cardstock to bring this card to life.

I started with the idea of a somewhat feminine card using this awesome Honey Bee Stamps die set to honor my late sister but it morphed into a masculine card despite my best efforts. Nonetheless, it IS a tribute to my sister who passed away in a freak accident in 1988 a month before her 34th birthday. She had a dark blue 1968 VW Bug that we called Herbie (after the original Herbie The Love Bug movie) and man, we sure had some fun times in that car! So here’s to you, Berta!

Using the Honey Bee Stamps Lovely Layers: Vintage Bug dies, I created the car first. I used Classic Crest Patriot Blue, Lessebo Pitch Black and Granite, Bright Silver Foil, and 80# Solar White. I cut the card base from Classic Crest Patriot Blue along with a couple layering panels from the Crafter’s Companion Just For Men 6×6 paper pad. I notched all the corners with the Spellbinders 3-in-1 Notched Corner punch. The sentiment is from the Ranger Letter It Occasions stamp set, stamped in Memento Paris Dusk ink. The finishing touch was the addition of several Your Next Stamp dark blue glitter Gumdrops.

I cut the inside panel from Classic Crest Recycled 100% Classic Natural White and embellished it with a leftover strip of one of the papers used on the front. I stamped a sentiment from the Ranger Letter It You Rock stamp set in the Paris Dusk ink. Be sure to check out my tutorial on the CutCardStock blog if you want more details!
