Gadgets Caddy

Hey friends! Happy Friday! Hope you have a fun crafty weekend in store! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Craft for the Craic and I’m stoked to share my GD inspiration project for the June Father’s Day/Masculine but Not a Card challenge! I’ve been playing with my Scan N Cut again, and used the awesome 3-Pocket Caddy cut file from Creations by AR to create this fun little Gadgets Caddy for my hubby’s desk. I’m so tickled with how this turned out! What a great little Father’s Day gift! ;)

2017_05280001a

One amazing thing (among many) is the ability to scan something into the Scan N Cut and then cut it out, which is what I did with the letters spelling ‘gadgets.’ I enlarged the AR Christy font to 58 pts in Word which I printed on cardstock, scanned the sheet and cut the letters out.  I adhered them to the oval which is actually one of the negative-space pieces from the handle! Yep, I use those scraps whenever possible! I added a tiny paperclip and adhered the oval to the front with foam strips. ;)

2017_05280002a

The paper is from the Crafters Companion Just For Men Urban Collection 6×6 paper pad. I inked the edges of all the paper pieces with Walnut Stain distress ink.

2017_05280003a

This caddy has three pockets (partitions) which will be great for holding all the little gadgets on my hubby’s desk. Can’t wait to give it to him! ;)

So thankful

Hi everyone! Happy Thursday – hope you’re having a great week! One more day till Friday, lol! It’s June 1st and time for another fun challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration card for LTCCB #11 – June Anything Goes! I created a corner fold thank you card that is also clean and simple. This is an interesting fold and I’m trying to learn to create with less dimension which is really tough for me. ;)

1-leslie

I used the absolutely gorgeous GKD Painted Autumn stamp set for the focal image panel which I layered on gold mirror cardstock. I love multi-step stamp sets with large images, as they create gorgeous backgrounds!

2017_01080014a

I stamped the inside sentiment along with some leaf stems on a layered panel. I really love how this turned out!

Hi everyone! I’m back with another post on this fine 1st day of June which marks the middle of the year already… can you believe it?! We have a brand new challenge launching over at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #98 – Boyz Rule! We’d love to see your masculine projects this time! Our sponsors this month are Oddball Art Co., DRS Designs and Bugaboo Digi Stamps so come on over and play with us for a chance to win an awesome prize!

I used the amazing Soldiers of America greeting from DRS Designs for my CAS patriotic thank you card. This is a shout-out to all the men in my family who have served in the military – my father, my son, my husband and my brother-in-law. Thank you for your service! I really enjoyed creating this card, as it had meaning.

2017_05280005a

I’ve got the die cutting fever again and have been playing with my Scan N Cut (a lot) since we got situated after our move. I thought these awesome patriotic and square frame cut files would pair perfectly with the DRS Designs greeting!

** 6/7/17 Top 3 at Fab ‘n’ Funky Challenges! **

Hello, crafty friends! Happy June 1st – it’s unreal that May is behind us already! A new challenge is launching this morning over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog. You’ll remember that all of our challenges are Anything Goes and there’s always an optional twist there to inspire you. I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for Challenge #2 – Anything Goes with optional twist of Stamping! If you play the twist with us this month, please use rubber or clear stamps!

I’ve had the Stampers Anonymous Crazy Dogs, Crazy Cats and Crazy Things (all with coordinating dies) for months now and have only used the Crazy Dogs stamps and dies once. So I got out the Crazy Cats and Crazy Things stamps and dies to create a fun CAS card for this challenge. The front and inside sentiments and the stars are from the Paper Smooches Holiday Cheer stamp set. SO much fun!

2017_04300004a

We have five fur babies so I really enjoyed using this set. Picking out the necktie and Santa hat for these guys was a major part of the fun. None of ours would tolerate any clothing or hats so I had to live vicariously through these comical stamped images, lol!

2017_04300005a

I decorated the inside with strips of the same paper used on the front, stamped a sentiment, and added a stamped and die cut candy cane with a few stars.

Butterfly Kisses

** 5/28/17 Top 3 at International Art & Soul! **

Hi everyone! Happy Friday – hope you’ve had a most awesome week! Today is my post day on the Dare 2B Artzy blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project using the absolutely amaaaaazing Butterfly Tangle stamp set, Butterfly die, Midnight Blue and Totally Black inks and Artzy Doodles Midnight Blue paper. I created a clean and simple get well card in bright colors! I LOVE this stamp set!

2017_03050012a

This happy-go-lucky butterfly with tons of sentiments included in the set made a delightful get well card that’s sure to make anyone feel better! This was super easy – the butterfly was stamped in Totally Black ink on the white background panel which I layered on the Midnight Blue paper and adhered to the card base. I stamped the butterfly again on a smaller piece of the white cardstock and colored both stamped images identically. I cut the butterfly image that I stamped on the smaller piece of cardstock with the coordinating die and layered it onto the background panel. I stamped the sentiment in the Midnight Blue ink and added some randomly placed sequins.

2017_03050013a

I popped the wings up with Kool Tak clear foam pads for dimension.

2017_03050014a

I stamped the inside sentiment in the Midnight Blue ink and added a strip of the Midnight blue paper across the bottom with a heart punched out on one side for a little interest.

Hello again, my crafty peeps! Happy Hump Day – hope you’re having a great week! The May challenge over at Let’s Craft and Create went live on the 5th and I’m stoked to share my mid-month DT inspiration project for Challenge #125 – Make Your Own Background! I had a b.l.a.s.t. creating this encouragement card!

I used a stencil and grit paste, Brushos and homemade Perfect Pearls spritz to create the background, and quite a few other elements to keep the eyes moving! ;)

2017_03120001a

For the sentiment, I combined stamped elements with the wood script word that I inked in black. I created a torn and curled corner with a doily and lace underlay that I embellished with flat-back pearls.

2017_03120002a

I inked a chipboard feather and embellished it with multi-colored seed beads, and added a gorgeous flower with two twine bows tucked behind one side of it. There are also a few metal embellishments – a key and two corner pieces.

2017_03120003a

As a final touch, I ‘touched’ all the elements with white gesso. I’m really loving how this turned out! You’ll be seeing more mixed media projects from me as time goes on! ;)

2017_03120004a

I kept the inside fairly simple with a few scraps of cardstock and a stamped sentiment.

Hi everyone! Hope you’ve had a great week and you’re having wonderful spring-like weather where you are! I’m happy to say that I’m once again a guestie over at Scrapping4fun Challenges! Another one of my cards was chosen as a Featured Creation a few weeks ago, so here I am! I’m absolutely thrilled to share my inspiration Challenge #90 – Ladies!

I created a very feminine shabby chic Christmas card featuring both tool and ink distressing, smeared grit paste and watered-down Gesso splatters on the front, and stamping on the inside. I had a great time with this!

LeslieTurner-May12-Ladies

All the elements were distressed with tool first and then ink, and then randomly layered on the background.

2017_04300014a

I smeared small amounts of grit paste and splattered watered-down Gesso on the front when I had all the pieces in place.

2017_04300015a

I kept the inside fairly simple with a stamped sentiment on a layered panel.

There’s no happy like holiday happy

Hello, my crafty friends! Hope your week has started off nicely, and the weather isn’t too hot where you are! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Craft for the Craic and I’m super stoked to share my GD inspiration project for the May Anything Goes challenge! I created a fun Christmas card in non-traditional colors. Red and green are usually “the” Christmas colors, but for this card… NOT!

I created a card using purple and teal which is (another) one of my favorite color combos. Using dark purple for the card base, I cut strips of dotted paper from the SU Brights, Regals and Subtles DSP stacks to create some visual interest.

2017_04300007a

I stamped the focal image in the dark ink and then stamped over it a second time in Versamark (using the MISTI) and heat embossed it in clear so I could water color the open areas of the image with ink colors matching the paper strips. I finished off the front with Gloss White Crystal Drops. Really loving how this turned out!

2017_04300008a

I kept the inside simple, as I usually do, with a strip of leftover cardstock and a stamped sentiment on a layered panel.

Sandal with Heel

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday – can you believe we’re a week into May already?! Wow! I created a fun sandal for our Dare 2B Artzy Girly challenge going on this month. I used one of my favorite stamp sets- Flowers for Mom, Joyful Flower dies, papers from the Fields of Joy Collection Paper Pack and Totally Black ink. Come on over and play with us for a chance to win a stamp set and ink pad of your choice! How awesome is that?! :)

ChallengeGirly17-1

I have a huge shoe fetish. Love shoes. Any kind of shoes. Well, most any kind… no stilettos or anything too high at this ripe old age – don’t need to break an ankle or a hip, lol. I made this adorable sandal to add to my paper shoe collection which you can find HERE if you’re interested in looking. I created a flip flop template several years ago which I used to make the other sandals in my collection. This sandal has a heel, however, and the others do not (template has no heel).

2017_04090001a

After cutting the sandal base from cardstock, I covered the top of the sole with a bold print paper from the Fields of Joy Collection paper pack and the straps with a more subdued print paper from the same pack, then assembled the sandal. I stamped, colored and die cut the ornamental 3-D flower and affixed it to the center of the straps.

2017_04090002a

I decided to do something a little different with this sandal, so I fashioned an impromptu heel from cardstock, attached it to the base and covered it with a striped paper from the same paper pack.

2017_04090003a

I adhered fun foam to the bottom of the sole and the heel for a more finished look. I will admit that I intended to re-create this sandal – without the heel – and when I went back to it, much later, I saw it in an entirely different perspective and LOVED it! With the heel! :D

Dream

** 6/1/17 DT Favorite at A Perfect Time To Craft Open Challenge Blog! **

Hi everyone! Happy Friday – hope everyone has had a good week! Today is my post day on the Dare 2B Artzy blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project using the Dream Catcher and Dream Big stamp sets, Wild Lilac ink and the top strip from Artzy Doodles Wild Lilac paper. I created a beautiful mixed media encouragement card.

A few weeks ago a fellow teammate inspired me to use my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to do some watercoloring. This dream catcher image is perfect for that technique so I heat embossed it in white and proceeded to get inky! I scribbled some purple on my craft mat and spritzed it with water. I lightly wet down the watercolor paper and painted it with the watered-down purple, then dried it with my heat tool.

I scribbled some more purple on my craft mat and spritzed it with less water to create a deeper shade of purple, then flicked the brush downward to create dark purple spots over the entire piece. I dried that with my heat tool, then colored in the inside of the dream catcher with red, pink, orange, yellow, green, aqua, a couple shades of blue and a lighter shade of purple. I dried that and flicked some water on it to wash the colors out a bit and then dried it again.

I then inked around the edges of the piece with three distress inks and dried that. I went around the outside edges once again with the darkest distress ink to get them just a tad darker and then flicked slightly watered-down white paint around the outside edges of the dream catcher.

I used Crystal Drops for the beads which I think looks pretty neat, and I really love the paint splatters and the dark inking! I’m really pleased with how this turned out!

I decorated the inside with the strip from the top of the Artzy Doodles Wild Lilac paper and a very narrow strip of dark purple cardstock down the left side. I stamped the image in Wild Lilac ink and cut it with a stitched rectangle die that I layered on a stitched oval die cut.

I’d love to enter this card into the following challenges:
