There’s no happy like holiday happy

Hello, my crafty friends! Hope your week has started off nicely, and the weather isn’t too hot where you are! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Craft for the Craic and I’m super stoked to share my GD inspiration project for the May Anything Goes challenge! I created a fun Christmas card in non-traditional colors. Red and green are usually “the” Christmas colors, but for this card… NOT!

I created a card using purple and teal which is (another) one of my favorite color combos. Using dark purple for the card base, I cut strips of dotted paper from the SU Brights, Regals and Subtles DSP stacks to create some visual interest.

2017_04300007a

I stamped the focal image in the dark ink and then stamped over it a second time in Versamark (using the MISTI) and heat embossed it in clear so I could water color the open areas of the image with ink colors matching the paper strips. I finished off the front with Gloss White Crystal Drops. Really loving how this turned out!

2017_04300008a

I kept the inside simple, as I usually do, with a strip of leftover cardstock and a stamped sentiment on a layered panel.

Sandal with Heel

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday – can you believe we’re a week into May already?! Wow! I created a fun sandal for our Dare 2B Artzy Girly challenge going on this month. I used one of my favorite stamp sets- Flowers for Mom, Joyful Flower dies, papers from the Fields of Joy Collection Paper Pack and Totally Black ink. Come on over and play with us for a chance to win a stamp set and ink pad of your choice! How awesome is that?! :)

ChallengeGirly17-1

I have a huge shoe fetish. Love shoes. Any kind of shoes. Well, most any kind… no stilettos or anything too high at this ripe old age – don’t need to break an ankle or a hip, lol. I made this adorable sandal to add to my paper shoe collection which you can find HERE if you’re interested in looking. I created a flip flop template several years ago which I used to make the other sandals in my collection. This sandal has a heel, however, and the others do not (template has no heel).

2017_04090001a

After cutting the sandal base from cardstock, I covered the top of the sole with a bold print paper from the Fields of Joy Collection paper pack and the straps with a more subdued print paper from the same pack, then assembled the sandal. I stamped, colored and die cut the ornamental 3-D flower and affixed it to the center of the straps.

2017_04090002a

I decided to do something a little different with this sandal, so I fashioned an impromptu heel from cardstock, attached it to the base and covered it with a striped paper from the same paper pack.

2017_04090003a

I adhered fun foam to the bottom of the sole and the heel for a more finished look. I will admit that I intended to re-create this sandal – without the heel – and when I went back to it, much later, I saw it in an entirely different perspective and LOVED it! With the heel! :D

** 6/1/17 DT Favorite at A Perfect Time To Craft Open Challenge Blog! **

Hi everyone! Happy Friday – hope everyone has had a good week! Today is my post day on the Dare 2B Artzy blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project using the Dream Catcher and Dream Big stamp sets, Wild Lilac ink and the top strip from Artzy Doodles Wild Lilac paper. I created a beautiful mixed media encouragement card.

A few weeks ago a fellow teammate inspired me to use my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to do some watercoloring. This dream catcher image is perfect for that technique so I heat embossed it in white and proceeded to get inky! I scribbled some purple on my craft mat and spritzed it with water. I lightly wet down the watercolor paper and painted it with the watered-down purple, then dried it with my heat tool.

I scribbled some more purple on my craft mat and spritzed it with less water to create a deeper shade of purple, then flicked the brush downward to create dark purple spots over the entire piece. I dried that with my heat tool, then colored in the inside of the dream catcher with red, pink, orange, yellow, green, aqua, a couple shades of blue and a lighter shade of purple. I dried that and flicked some water on it to wash the colors out a bit and then dried it again.

I then inked around the edges of the piece with three distress inks and dried that. I went around the outside edges once again with the darkest distress ink to get them just a tad darker and then flicked slightly watered-down white paint around the outside edges of the dream catcher.

I used Crystal Drops for the beads which I think looks pretty neat, and I really love the paint splatters and the dark inking! I’m really pleased with how this turned out!

I decorated the inside with the strip from the top of the Artzy Doodles Wild Lilac paper and a very narrow strip of dark purple cardstock down the left side. I stamped the image in Wild Lilac ink and cut it with a stitched rectangle die that I layered on a stitched oval die cut.

I’d love to enter this card into the following challenges:

a day all about you

Hello, crafty peeps! I’m back with my fifth and final post of the day. Enough, you say, lol! Our May House of Cards challenge went live this morning and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for Add Sequins and/or Colors! You know me… I love me some color and I love me some sequins – so this inspiration photo is some kind of wonderful! LOL!

0517-sequinscolors

This is my last post for House of Cards and before I get on with my project, I’d like to thank Mynn and rest of the DT for putting up with me for the last year and a half – I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself! For this challenge, I created a fun birthday card using these adorable Elizabeth Craft Designs candle dies that I’ve had in my stash forever and have never used. Not sure how that happened… they are so much fun! I also used up a few scraps which is always a good thing!

2017_02050001a

I added just a few sequins, and also added a little shimmer to the candle flames with a SN Crystal Clear Sparkle marker.

2017_02050002a

I stamped the sentiment on the inside and layered the panel on yellow and then green cardstock. Love how this turned out!

Your Goodness makes me Grateful

Hi everyone! I’m back with yet another post – it’s the 1st day of the month and you know how busy it gets, lol! The May challenge over at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog is live this morning and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #97 – Anything Goes! Our sponsors this month are Dr. Digi’s House of Stamps, yours truly (me :) and Sparkle N Sprinkle! Come on over and show us what you got – we know you love Anything Goes!

You know how I love my fancy folds! I created a peek-a-boo thank you card, and OMG, I loved making this! Navy blue and white are among my favorite color combos, and this is the first project I’ve made with this gorgeous Stampin’ Up! DSP. I’ve made a few cards lately without bows so this card had to have one!

2017_02180006a

Here’s a shot of the card opening up to reveal an additional stamped sentiment! The Stampin’ Up! stamp set I used is one of my favorites!

2017_02180008a

And here it is, fully open, revealing the ever-classic ‘thank you’ sentiment stamped inside.

To a wonderful friend…

Hello, my crafty friends! Today is a day that quite a few of us having been waiting for… the debut technique challenge at the new Mix It Up Challenge Blog! I’m happy to share my inspiration project for MIUCB #1 – Anything Goes + optional twist of Embossing! The embossing can be heat or dry – or both – or not at all! The optional twist is there to inspire you so it’s entirely up to you! Just to recap – we are a new monthly technique challenge blog featuring a different optional technique each month in our Anything Goes challenges. We’d love to see your mixed media projects, altered art, and/or paper crafts- cards, tags, ATCs, scrapbook layouts, mini albums and 3-D projects! Please mix it up, lol!

I created a birthday card featuring dry embossing. I’ve had this embossing folder, stamp set and dies – all from Stampin’ Up! – for months and haven’t gotten around to using them, so I thought breaking them out for this challenge would be perfect! ;)

1-Leslie

I’m so in love with this embossing folder; I’ve seen many awesome projects created with it. This dragonfly die has fast become a favorite as well, and is just gorgeous cut from the foil cardstock. I binged on Pretty Pink Posh sequins a few weeks ago (OMG) and used two of the colors on this card. These are smaller than regular sequins and I L.O.V.E. them!

2017_04090007a

I kept the inside simple with just a stamped sentiment on a panel layered on the Kachina grass cloth cardstock.

Purse Money Holder

Hi everyone! I’m back with another post on this fine first day of May! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #10 – May Anything Goes! I created the most awesome little purse money holder using the Purse Card/Envelope Set Money Holder Silhouette cut file by Samantha Walker. OMG, this couldn’t have been more fun to put together, and with minimal supplies!

1-leslie

I used the brightest green and purple cardstock I could find in my stash! The only embellishments used were several tiny silver brads and a clear gemstone. I used a small velcro circle under the front flap for the closure. Love, love, love!

Deck the halls with ugly sweaters!

Hi everyone! Happy May 1st! Can you believe it?! As you’ll see by the next several posts later on this morning, I’ve been a busy little bee, lol! I’m proud to share that I’m a guestie over at Your Scrapbook Place this month! I was ecstatic when the lovely Holley contacted me, and of course, I said yes!

Our sponsor this month is Limited Runs Stamps and I chose the most adorable ‘Ugly Sweater Good Snowman’ digital image to create my wobble card. It’s been a while since I used a wobble element and they are so much fun – I just couldn’t resist using one with this sweater! I chopped off the bottom of the front flap of the card base at an angle and covered it with TH Melange Tissue Wrap, then added some torn paper and some burlap. The main sentiment is stamped ‘inside’ the angle.

2017_04300018a

When I colored the sweater, I tried my hardest to make it look like it was pilled. I added Crystal Clear Sparkle marker and then Glossy Accents on the snowman. Then my hubby threw in his two cents and told me to add as much ‘stuff’ as I could, to make it as ugly as I could, lol! So, on went the snowflake sequins with green flat-back pearls, then the blingy red Dot Sparklers around the neck, sleeves and waist.

2017_04300019a

You can’t see the wobble element, but it’s there underneath. So much fun to just flick the sweater with your finger and watch it wobble, lol! Did I say how much fun I had making this card?! ;)

2017_04300021a

For the inside, I stamped a simple cozy sentiment on a piece of white layered on the kraft card base. Despite the ‘ugly’ factor, I’m loving how this turned out! ;)

Flip Flop Wreath for Dare 2B Artzy Spring 3D Blog Hop!

D2BA_SpringBlogHop

Hi everyone! Happy Friday – I hope you all had an awesome week! I know there are lots of people out there who are ready for some FUN ‘N’ SUN, so the Dare 2B Artzy design team has decided to have a Spring 3D Blog Hop! This will be a three-day hop (April 28-30) and we have a couple guest designers joining us, so get in on the fun! Come on over and hop with us for a chance to win a stamp set and ink pad of your choice!

You should have arrived here from the lovely Tasha’s blog! If you’re just visiting and want to hop along with us, head over to the Dare 2B Artzy Blog to start from the beginning! Trust me… you don’t want to miss a thing!

A winner will be randomly chosen from one of the blogs on the hop, so be sure to follow each blog and leave comments along the way to increase your chance of winning! You have until 7:00 PM CST on Sunday, April 30th, when the hop will close and the winner will be posted!

I created an awesome flip flop wreath for one of my long-time besties who lives and breathes BEACH! I used the amazing Flip Flops stamp set with coordinating Flip Flop dies, and Totally Black and Paradise inks. These stamps and dies are perfect for this project!

2017_04220001a

Here is the ‘heart and soul’ of this wreath – the awesome sentiment that I stamped on plain white cardstock in Totally Black ink. I stamped the Adirondack chair in Paradise ink and cut it with the corresponding die, and affixed it to the left of the sentiment. I then angled the sentiment panel in the bottom of the wreath opening for a little interest.

2017_04220002a

Every wreath needs a bow so I added my signature big bow with a starfish charm in the center. ;)

2017_04220003a

The next several photos show all the embellished flip flops (eight pairs in all). I randomly placed flowers, sea glass, star fish charms, heart gemstones and flat-back pearls all over, with absolutely no kind of pattern. I’m really loving how this turned out and I sure hope Cindy likes it as much as I do! ;)

Boxed Set of Note Cards

** 5/7/17 Winner at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends! **

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! And yep, you guessed it… I’m doing the happy dance just like I do every Friday, lol! Today is my post day on the Dare 2B Artzy blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project using Flowers for Mom stamp set, Paradise ink and Blissful Bloom paper.

I created a fun boxed set of 6 note cards. This is the second set of these I’ve created and I can’t tell you how much fun they are! My inspiration originally came from a tutorial I found for a set created on a smaller scale, however, I adjusted the measurements to accommodate regular A2 sized cards. I’m happy to share these instructions on my “Freebies” page (right sidebar). My version has a magnet closure under the flap and I also decorated the back of the box.

2017_02120001a

I used both sides of this gorgeous double-sided paper along with the strip across the top. I always say that you should keep that strip on the top of all the Dare 2B Artzy papers because it coordinates perfectly and makes a great embellishment!

2017_02120002a

I designed the ‘hello’ note cards to coordinate with the box, using both sides of the paper and the decorative strip. I added a stamped sentiment on a punched ticket ‘tab’ tucked under the strip along with some flat-back pearls.

2017_02120003a

And here’s the back of the box. Loving how this turned out!
