Hi everyone! Can you believe we’re almost a week into March already! We haven’t really even had a Winter in the sense of cold weather here, and we’re rapidly headed into Spring! I created a fun tag with tons of layers for our Dare 2B Artzy Lots of Layers challenge going on this month. I used the gorgeous Artzy Doodles Midnight Blue paper, Cup of Cheer stamp set and Totally Black ink. Come on over and play with us for a chance to win a stamp set and ink pad of your choice! How awesome is that?! :)

lots-of-layers-badge

I started with a tag I hand cut from 120# kraft cardstock (including the circle with hole at the top) which I inked, splattered and spritzed, and also used a stencil with grit paste. I fed several scraps of ribbon and twine through the hole at the top which I secured with more twine. I thoroughly enjoyed creating this and see lots more mixed media in my future!

2017_02110001a´

I laid out all the pieces that I inked, splattered and spritzed to match the tag, including the strip from the top of the D2BA paper (yes, all of them have it and you should totally use it on your projects!), the paper lace doily, the die cuts and the corrugate oval shape.

2017_02110002a

After the grit paste and other elements were dry, the strip went on first, followed by the Kensington Branch die cut and paper lace doily. Then I tied some twine onto the corrugate oval prior to adhering it, and added the hot cocoa and heart die cuts.

2017_02110004a

I embossed the sentiment on a scrap of the blue paper using white embossing powder and cut it with a flag punch, then layered it on a scrap of dark brown cardstock. To complete the tag, I added a few white flat back pearls.

Here’s an angled shot showing the shimmer from the spitz. So pretty!

Boxed Set of Thank You Cards

Hi everyone! Hope you’ve had a great week – I just love my Fridays! Today is my post day on the Dare 2B Artzy blog and I’m stoked to share a DT inspiration project using the gorgeous Flowers for Mom stamp set and coordinating Joyful Flower dies, along with Artzy Doodles Bright Pumpkin paper!

I created an awesome boxed set of six thank you cards, three each of two different CAS designs. My inspiration for this project came from a YouTube tutorial HERE. Can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this! My version has a velcro closure under the flap, and I also decorated the back of the box. I used punches (extra large oval and extra large scallop) for the stamped sentiment. And I’m so sad that this grosgrain bow is my very last one. Sniff-sniff. And I don’t even remember where I got these but I sure have enjoyed them!

2017_02110006a

Orange is not usually my first choice of colors but I sure was diggin’ this, lol! My whole mindset was ‘bright colors’ and orange just fit the bill this time. I’m in love with the Artzy Doodles Variety Paper Pack! And yes, ALL of the Dare 2B Artzy papers have a patterned strip across the top which coordinates perfectly! This Bright Pumpkin layered on the white is just gorgeous against the slightly darker shade of orange cardstock used to create the box.

2017_02110007a

The card bases I used are 3-1/2″ x 5″ with slightly larger envelopes, and were perfect for this project considering the size of the die cut flowers. I prepared the panels first – cut the white pieces and stamped the thank you sentiment on each using a stamp positioner. I then cut slightly larger layering pieces from black cardstock and adhered them to the card bases. I stamped each flower three times in Totally Black ink on white cardstock, then colored them all, doing each set of flowers in the same color schemes. Once all the coloring was done, I cut them all with the coordinating dies and adhered them to the card bases. I finished them off with a few sparkly elements for some added interest.

2017_02110008a

2017_02110009a

And here’s a shot of the back of the box. Love, love, love how this project turned out! I’ve already made another boxed set of standard A2 sized cards with a magnet closure on the box. I’ve adjusted the measurements of the box for that project and will share soon, so stay tuned! :D

Hi everyone! The March House of Cards challenge is live this morning and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for Make A Scene and/or Colors! Come on over and play – we’d love to see what you create! I absolutely love this inspiration photo! This just screams ‘Spring’ to me!

0316-makeascenecolors

I created a friendship card using the mirror stamping technique. First time I’ve ever done this and I have to admit I was a little nervous, but love how it turned out! I would love to have been able to add some ducks floating in my pond but I didn’t have any duck stamps small enough. ;)

2017_02030001a

After stamping the trees, I sponged the sky using both shades of blue, some pink and some yellow, then the grass shoreline using two shades of green, and finally the pond the two shades of blue. I used all of the colors in the inspiration photo and added pink. :)

2017_02030002a

I kept the inside fairly simple with just a stamped sentiment on a layered panel.

** 3/10/17 Top 3 at Fab ‘n’ Funky Challenges! **

Hi friends! Happy first day of March! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for March Anything Goes! I created a baby girl card using the awesome three-step ‘Baby Bear’ stamp set from Stampin’ Up! Love, love, love! :) A CAS design with minimal embellishments. The card base was cut with a fairly new Papertrey Ink die set.

2016_09250011a

I cut the image with a stitched oval die and layered it on foam for a little dimension. All four corners were embellished with rhinestones. The seam binding bow matches the cardstock.

2016_09250012a

I kept the inside very simple with just a stamped sentiment on a panel cut with a die from the same die set

I chose the most adorable ‘Bob’ digi from SheepSki Designs for my hubby’s Valentine and he loved it! He’s a nuts and bolts kind of guy, lol!

I thought a gray, black, white and red color combo would be neat for this card. I used a double stitched oval die to cut the image which I mounted on thick foam for dimension. I hand cut two pointed flags and heat embossed a couple fun robot sentiments on the front.

2017_02050005a

I decorated in the inside with leftover strips of the cardstock used on the front, and stamped a sentiment from the same robot stamp set. I really love how this turned out!

Update: This challenge blog abruptly closed down in mid-April, after only a couple challenges. :(

Hi everyone! Hope you are having a fantastic February – can you believe it’s just about over, lol! You’ll remember a few weeks back I announced that I joined the Season’s Greetings Christmas Challenge DT. All of our challenges are Anything Goes and there’s always an optional twist there to inspire you. I’m super stoked to share my debut DT inspiration project for Challenge #2 – Anything Goes with optional twist of Color Combo! The twist this time is this neat color combo:

2-color-combo

I created a one-layer card using three of these four colors along with a die and stamp set from my stash. One-layer cards are not easy for me but this one actually just came together like it was meant to be! Just look at these little guys! :D

2017_01290001a

This was the perfect opportunity to use the round dies from the new YNS Peek A Boo Trio die set.  I can’t tell you how in love I am with the adorable SU Cookie-Cutter Christmas stamp set with coordinating punch. The card name ‘Oh, what fun’ hits the nail right on the head, lol! This was a blast to make! The stamped sentiment, the stamped texture just above the circle die cuts, the bow ties on the gingerbread men and the scattered hearts all match the colors in the combo. I’m really loving how this turned out!

2017_01290002a

I kept the inside very simple with just a stamped sentiment. It felt very strange not having a layered panel to adhere, lol!

On your special day

Hi everyone! Hope you’re having a great week! I’m stoked to share that I’m a guestie over at Scrapbook Stamp Society! Woot-woot! A project I created with an adorable Sherri Baldy image a few weeks back was a challenge winner at Scrapbook Stamp Society Challenge Blog. I won six My Besties images and was invited to be their guest! How’s that for a haul?! If you’re interested, the winning entry that got me this GD spot can be seen HERE.

I’m happy to share my GD inspiration project using the absolutely adorable Img372. She reminds me of a younger me, sort of a flower child, and I thought it only fitting to create a girly card in pinks and purples. I’m so in love with this new Crafter’s Companion Floral paper pack and couldn’t wait to use it! And you know how I love my fancy folds!

2017_01290004a

Isn’t she just adorable?! Pretty in pink with a little purple for good measure. Embellishments include flowers, cheesecloth, cotton lace and pearls.

2017_01290005a

Here’s an angled shot so you can see the construction. I just love step cards – they are so easy to create with just two cuts and a few scores! ;)

You color my world

Hello, my crafty friends! Hope you’re having a great weekend! Our February challenge over at Let’s Craft and Create went live on the 5th and I’m stoked to share my mid-month DT inspiration project for Challenge #122 – Love Is In The Air. I recently purchased the CC Designs ‘Dragonfly Floral’ rubber stamp from Little Miss Muffet and I’m totally smitten! This is, without a doubt, one of the most gorgeous stamps I’ve ever owned. I absolutely love it! I created a CAS card with very few embellishments.

2017_01080004a

I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and stamped a vertical sentiment, and layered it on some black shimmer cardstock. I layered the panel on foam for some dimension, and added some crocheted lace and a few sequins. This image is so gorgeous, it really didn’t need much to showcase it.

2017_01080005a

I colored the dragonfly’s wings with Spectrum Noir Crystal Clear Sparkle marker.

2017_01080006a

I kept the inside very simple with just a stamped sentiment on a layered panel.

I’m showcasing several projects so grab a cuppa and stay for a few! Here’s the first one… created with the Classic Dad stamp set. Lots of layers going on here! I punched half circles into the edges of the front flap of the card base for a little interest.

2017_02030010a

I had the best time putting this together! There is some cheesecloth (dyed to match the light teal color on the car) tucked behind a couple layered stitched banners, along with a die cut tag with ball chain. There is also some very cool corrugated paper and some twine. Hope the hubster likes it… it’s his birthday card! (Shhh…. don’t tell him!)

2017_02030011a

I kept the inside fairly simple with a stamped sentiment from the Classic Dad stamp set, then layered the panel on cardstock matching the light teal color on the car. The half-circles are the negative pieces left over from punching the half circles on the front.

My next project was created with the absolutely adorable Raggity Rabbit stamp set. OMG, I’m in love with this little guy! He made such an awesome CAS Easter card! I layered the panel on black cardstock and then some gorgeous Artzy Doodles Wild Orchid paper.

2017_02030007a

I originally created some shadows beneath the rabbit, egg and carrot, and later decided to add some grass, as I felt the card needed a little texture. Worked like a charm!

2017_02030008a

I stamped the Easter sentiment from the Raggity Rabbit stamp set and decorated the panel with the strip from the edge of the Artzy Doodles Wild Orchid paper. I layered the entire panel on black cardstock and the Wild Orchid paper.

My final project was created with the amazing Cup of Cheer stamp set. I love this set as it’s so versatile and can be used so many different ways. This note card features the stamped cup of java in a recessed circular opening which really accentuates the vellum steam die cut. I popped the front panel up on foam to get just a bit of dimension I needed for the recessed area.

I offset the two punched circles on the two layers which I thought was a playful addition to this design. I also offset the layers on the sentiment to match. I added some flat-back pearls to finish it off.

Here’s one final angled view. I left the inside blank as this is a note card. I’m really loving how this turned out!
