here for you

Hey everybody, happy hump day – I hope you’re having a good week. I’m up on the Love From Lizi blog today with a tutorial for making a faux triple fold card featuring our Happy Days paper, Chrysanthemum die, Bumble Bee die, and Friends Forever stamps, all from our July release, along with an additional stamp set and gemstones from the store. I’ve made several triple folds of this variety over the past few years and got the notion a while back to start gluing down the center panel to give it the illusion of a triple fold when there are actually only two flaps. Easy peasy!

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Basis Gray cardstock along with layering panels from assorted prints in the Happy Days 6×6 Patterned Paper Pack. As noted above, I adhered the left flap flat to the card base to give the illusion of two flaps on the left side when there’s really only one. Using the Chrysanthemum Steel Cutting Die, I die cut the chrysanthemum from the Basis Gray, and the bumble bee (using the Bumble Bee Steel Cutting Die) from CutCardStock Basis Black and Basis Gold cardstock with vellum wings which I popped up on a thin foam square.

I cut the main flower die cut in two pieces so it would lay flat on the flap. Then I ended up cutting another flower die cut (just the right side) and adhering it to the right flap so the flower appears to be whole when the card is closed. I added half-circles of Velcro to keep the card closed. I stamped a sentiment from the We Are stamp set in Versafine Onyx Black ink and added a few pink gemstones from the Tropical Escapes Mix Size Gems.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a strip cut from the patterned paper used on the center flap on the front. I stamped a sentiment from the Friends Forever stamps in black ink. For more details instructions, be sure to see my tutorial on the Love From Lizi blog!

Scrappy hugs,

Happy Birthday!

Hey everybody, a very happy Wednesday to you! I hope your week is plugging along nicely. I have a fun Keep It Simple DT inspiration project to share today that I created for our How To’s page on the website that went live day before yesterday. There are an infinite number of ways to create birthday cards, and I was trying to think of something a little different and came up with this gatefold with inlaid die cuts. I used assorted prints from our Back To Basics Ruby, Mango, Lemon, Jade, Royal, Lilac, Lime, Rose, Black & White Collection Packs. I also used our Back To Basics Belle Outline Alphabet Dies, KIS Cuts Melody Stories Font Dies, and Back To Basics Birthday Sentiments Stamp Set. Lots of colorful stuff here!

The landscape gatefold card base was cut from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. I die cut the apertures in the card base along with the loose large letters from assorted prints in our Ruby, Mango, Lemon, Jade, Royal, Lilac, Lime and Rose Collection Packs using our Back To Basics Belle Outline Alphabet Dies. The asterisk flowers and smaller letters were die cut from our Black & White Collection Pack using our KIS Cuts Melody Stories Font Dies.

I backed the gatefold flaps with Solar White cardstock and adhered the loose large letters inside the negative spaces. I adhered the smaller letters to the bottom edge of the top flap and the little flowers with tiny dark blue gemstones randomly on the flaps.

The inside sentiment is from our Back To Basics Birthday Sentiments Stamp Set. For more details, be sure to see my tutorial on the How-To’s page linked in the first paragraph!

Scrappy hugs,

Let It Snow tag

Hey everybody, I’m back with my second post on this beautiful Sunday! I’m delighted to share a Scrapbook Pal DT inspiration project with you that I created with the Sizzix-Tim Holtz Vintage Sled Thinlits and Sizzix-Catherine Pooler Greetings of the Season Stamp Set along with a few other items carried on the website. It’s been a while since I created a tag and these amazing dies and stamps just ‘screamed’ tag to me. This is an oversized 3-1/4″ x 6-1/4″ tag that could very easily be given as a flat card, and that’s how I made it! ;)

I cut the tag base from Neenah Classic Crest Double Thick 165# Solar White cardstock and covered it with two coordinating prints from The Paper Studio Four Seasons and Everything In Between -2- paper pad, tearing the horizontal striped piece across the top and adhering it to the bottom of the tag at a slight angle.

Using the Sizzix-Tim Holtz Vintage Sled Thinlits, I die cut all the sled pieces from CutCardStock Stardream Metallic Silver, Twine, Pop Tone Red Hot, Pop Tone Gumdrop Green, Pop tone Jellybean Green, Kale Green, and Amaranth cardstock. I conducted an experiment, not entirely sure it was going to work. I ran the Copic Ciao E47 Dark Brown alcohol marker along the ridges on the main sled piece just prior to running it through the Big Shot in hopes it would look like wood, and it did! It’s a little blotchy looking but I thought that added to the vintage feel. I also scribbled this same marker on my finger and rubbed it across the ‘metal’ piece on the top to make it look distressed, and that worked, too! ;)

I stamped a sentiment from the Sizzix-Catherine Pooler Greetings of the Season Stamp Set in Versafine Onyx Black ink and inked the edges of the tag in white ink. I added Eyelet Outlet Clear Glitter Enamel Dots randomly over the background over top of the snow drops on the patterned paper. The finishing touch was looping some Really Reasonable Ribbon canvas stitched ribbon through the hole at the top and tying it with Lawn Fawn Lawn Trimmings White Hemp Twine.

I stamped another sentiment from the Sizzix-Catherine Pooler Greetings of the Season Stamp Set on the back in Versafine Onyx Black ink. I totally love how this turned out… tags are such fun!

Scrappy hugs,

Miss You fun fold

Hey everybody, happy weekend – I hope you’re having a good one! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a side panel pillar card in a timeless black and white color combo with just a pop of color. I used Savoy Cotton, Beetle Black, Wedding Cake White, and Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock, and I totally love how it turned out. I have to admit that once again I started out with a completely different card design in my head. Before I knew it, the card had morphed into this black and white beauty. It amazes me how something so simple can pack such a punch!

Using the Love From Lizi Stitched Rectangle Nested Cutting Dies and Wild Bloom Dragonflies Cutting Dies, I die cut the focal panel from Savoy Cotton cardstock intending to spritz it with some shimmer mist. I sat there looking at it thinking how pretty it would be to just leave it white and back it on some black cardstock. So my entire card design shifted some major gears and I ended up cutting a few more pieces. I colored the three dragonflies with alcohol markers, gave them some shimmer with a Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen and Glossy Accents, and set them aside.

I cut the card base and front panel from Beetle Black and the layering panels from Wedding Cake White which I dry embossed with a Cuttlebug Script embossing folder. I stamped the sentiment from the Brutus Monroe Miss You Florals stamp set in Brutus Monroe Clear Embossing Ink and heat embossed it with Brutus Monroe Alabaster Pigment Ink. I cut it at an angle with a small Love From Lizi Stitched Oval Nested Cutting Die and popped it up in the lower right corner on a thin adhesive foam square. The final touch on the front was adding a few iridescent gemstones.

I cut the back panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and added a dry embossed panel of the Beetle Black down the left side. I stamped a sentiment from the Love From Lizi Just Because stamp set in Versafine Onyx Black ink, which completed the card.

Scrappy hugs,

I love you snow much

Hey everybody, Happy Friday – I hope you’ve had a great week! I’m thrilled to share a Brutus Monroe DT inspiration project today featuring the super adorable Snow Much Stamp and Coordinating Die which I paired with our Brown Butter cardstock and Winter Wings paper. [Note: I also used our Love Letters paper for one of the elements which is out of stock at Brutus Monroe but is in stock at A Cherry On Top.] It’s never too early to start on those Christmas cards, and this pop-out Z-fold showcases these Christmas products in such a fun way! This is an amazing fold!

I cut the card base and shaped pieces from our Brown Butter cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating prints in the Winter Wings 6×6 Paper Collection. I stamped the snowman from our Snow Much Stamp Set in Raven ink on CutCardStock Basis 110# Natural cardstock and colored it with an assortment of markers in my stash. I cut him with the Snow Much Coordinating Die and made him the star of the show on the front panel. I added a Keep It Simple Clementine Enamel Heart along with several of our Red Shift Flat Back Crystals, which completed the card front.

I cut the one shaped element on the inside (peeking out from behind the three on the front) from the Love Letters 6×6 Paper Collection that I mentioned above. I stamped a sentiment from the Snow Much Stamp Set in Raven ink and colored the tiny heart with a red marker.

I finished off the back with a panel of CutCardStock Basis 80# Natural. I embellished it with a leftover strip of the Winter Wings paper and stamped another sentiment from the Snow Much Stamp Set. I’ve also included a shot from overhead so you can see the construction of this fold. It definitely is a fun one!

Scrappy hugs,

an ocean full of thanks

Hi everyone, happy Wednesday – I hope you’re having a great week! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making an ocean inspired thank you card with pretty cardstock, shimmery foil and a super cute sea turtle. I used Savoy Cotton cardstock along with Surf, Hummingbird, and Caribbean Blue. Then, toward the end I brought in Vanilla Bean Brown and Ginger Snap. And, of course, my go-to for card bases and layering panels is typically Neenah Classic Crest Solar White.

Using a panel of our Savoy cotton cardstock, I created the background panel using the Love From Lizi To The Beach stencil, Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo and Deco Foil Glass Slipper Transfer Sheets. I cut the card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock along with layering panels and frames from Surf, Hummingbird, and Caribbean Blue. The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Mermaid Kisses, stamped in Catherine Pooler Sea Glass ink. I used Love From Lizi Stitched Rectangle and Stitched Circle Nested Cutting Dies for this project. I brought in Vanilla Bean Brown and Ginger Snap for a turtle re-do toward the end of this process, which I explain in my tutorial.

I embellished the inside panel with a leftover strip of the foiled background used on the front, and added an additional sentiment from the Hero Arts Mermaid Kisses Stamps. For more details, be sure to check out my tutorial on the CutCardStock blog!

Cottage Life

Hey everybody, I hope you’re having a fabulous day! How’s the weather where you are? The heat is ramping up here but not too badly yet… it’s in the mid 80s and that’s definitely do-able! I’m thrilled to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you that I created with our new Cheerful Cottage collection. This is a book cradle fold and it’s only the second one I’ve made – it has a unique structure and sure packs a punch! I saw it originally on the Mixed Up Craft YouTube Channel and thought it was a fun one.

I cut the card base pieces from CutCardStock Lessebo Moss Green cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating prints in the Cheerful Cottage 6×9 Collection Pack. I assembled the card and added several images and a sentiment from the Cheerful Cottage Die Cut Pieces, popping the middle cottage up on thin foam squares.

I cut the back panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with an additional image and sentiment from the Cheerful Cottage Die Cut Pieces. BOOM – card finished!

Scrappy hugs,

King of the Remote

Hey everybody, happy Friday the 13th, lol! I hope you’ve had an awesome week and you’re ready to have some fun this weekend! I’m stoked to share a Brutus Monroe DT inspiration project with you today featuring our super fun Remote King Stamp & Die Bundle which I paired with our Midnight cardstock, Vintage Plaid papers, Heat Resistant Acetate, and a few other items in the store. My inspiration for this spanner panel card came from Splitcoast Stampers – it was showcased in a newsletter several years ago (tutorial is HERE). I made this one in portrait orientation which is a little different than the ones I’ve made in the past that were in landscape orientation. This Father’s Day TV remote die cut needed proper vertical representation, right?! I love how this turned out!

I cut the card base from Midnight cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating prints in the Vintage Plaid 6×6 Paper Collection and our Heat Resistant Acetate. Using the Remote King Stamp & Die Bundle, I stamped the sentiment in Raven ink on Not Your Mamas cardstock, cut it with the coordinating die, and adhered it to the bottom of the center panel.

I stamped the remote in Raven ink and then stamped it a second time (over top of the black ink) in our Clear Embossing ink. I heat embossed it in Icicle Embossing Powder and colored just the center dial. The final step was cutting it with the coordinating die and adhering it to the card front, attaching it by the corners between the narrow side flaps and panel of acetate at the bottom. The final step for the front was adding a few Hematite Flat Back Crystals.

There are several layers to this card. The narrow side flaps lift to reveal just the center panel. Then the center panel lifts to reveal the inside of the card which features an additional stamped sentiment from the Remote King Stamp & Die Bundle which I cut with the coordinating die. So fun!

Magical Faux Pull-Tab Card

Hi friends, Happy Hump Day! I hope you’re having a great week. I’m up on the Love From Lizi blog today with a tutorial for making a faux pull-tab card featuring our new Make A Wish Cutting Dies and A Little Bit of Magic Stamp Set from our June release. I also used pink polka dot paper, some mirror cardstock, stitched circle nested dies, pink pinstripe peel-offs and gemstones. It is definitely a fun design but not a fun fold which is my most favorite kind of card to share. It has a unique panel on the front that resembles a pull-tab. I’ve made several of these and they are fun!

I cut the card base and layering panels from CutCardStock Cougar Smooth 100# cardstock along with layering panels from Papertrey Ink Lovely Lady cardstock and pink polka dot paper from our Polka Dot 6×6 Paper Pack. Using the Make A Wish Cutting Dies, I cut the fairy from the Cougar cardstock along with a circular frame (using our Stitched Circle Nested Cutting Dies) from silver foil cardstock in our Matte Mirror A5 Pastel Cardstock Bundle. I added three strips of our Pin Stripe Pink Holographic Peel-Off Stickers a some pink gemstones from our Tropical Escapes Mix Size Gems. The sentiment is from A Little Bit of Magic Stamp Set, stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I cut the inside panel from the Cougar cardstock and embellished it with a leftover strip of the pink polka dot paper used on the front. I stamped another sentiment from the A Little Bit of Magic Stamp Set in black ink, which completed the card.

Scrappy hugs,

With Deepest Sympathy

Hey everybody, Happy Wednesday – I hope you’re having a great week! I’m up on the Scrapbook Pal blog today sharing a tutorial for making a tone-on-tone sympathy card (with just a pop of color) which features the Honey Bee Bold Background: Chinoiserie Dies, Lovely Layers: Butterflies Dies and Heartfelt Condolences Stamps and Dies. Sympathy cards don’t come easy for most crafters but it sure helps to have beautiful products on hand to reflect the occasion. I feel like this card would make the recipient feel the love and power of prayer.

I cut the card base and two of each of the focal die cut elements (using the Honey Bee Bold Background: Chinoiserie Dies and Lovely Layers: Butterflies Dies) from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock. I layered both of the background die cuts on top of each other and then popped up the florals on thin foam squares, all for varying degrees of dimension.

I colored the butterflies with Copic Ciao alcohol markers and then added some Ranger antique linen distress spritz for a little shimmer. I stamped the sentiment from the Honey Bee Heartfelt Condolences Stamps in Versafine Onyx Black ink, cut it with the coordinating Heartfelt Condolences Die, and popped it up on thin foam squares. The finishing touch was adding a few iridescent gemstones.

I cut both inside panels from 80# Solar White cardstock and ran the Cadmium Yellow alcohol marker around the edge of the larger panel to simulate colored cardstock. I stamped another sentiment from the Heartfelt Condolences Stamps in the Versafine Onyx Black ink and added the remaining butterfly. How about that hack for getting an exact match of ink without using colored cardstock?!
