hello

Hello, happy crafters! Hope you’ve had an awesome week! It’s the first Friday of the month and that means it’s time for another fun challenge over at Craft For The Craic! I’m excited to share my GD inspiration project for the August Include a Triangle Shape challenge! I was in a ‘pink’ kind of mood and created a very feminine and flowery friendship card.

2017_06070001a

Most of the supplies I used on this are from Stampin’ Up! – cardstock, paper, ink, punches and rhinestones. The gorgeous doily is a Cheery Lynn die and so much classier than most pre-cut doilies. I just got the Tim Holtz Tag Press that I was anxious to use, and I love it! The little bouquet of flowers is also a TH product that is new in my stash. :)

2017_06070002a

I decorated in the inside panel with leftover strips of paper and cardstock from the front and stamped a simple sentiment on the layered panel. I’m really happy with how this turned out. :)

Thankful – Grateful – BLESSED

Hello, my crafty friends! I’m popping in today with a card that is not a design team project! It’s a long overdue ‘thank you’ to Dawn, a sweet lady who was a tremendous help to me re-stashing a good bit of my cardstock and papers that I lost when we moved to Colorado from Florida back in early May. She got me a 25% discount on a huge order which I thought was amazing!

For those of you who are not friends with me on Facebook, let me share my story real quick before I share my project. When we were moving here, my husband was pulling the fifth wheel and I was behind him pulling a small enclosed trailer. The interstate going through Louisiana is horrible (ruts, pot holes, separated concrete, eroded concrete) which beat the pure crap out of us, our five cats and our rigs. It was just awful. The bouncing, bamming and slamming broke the latch on the slide-out storage tray in the under-belly of the fifth wheel which slammed up against the door and broke the lock and two latches. Consequently, the tray slid out and several tubs of my scrapbooking supplies (cardstock, double-sided papers and embellishments) blew out all over the interstate.

As awful as it was, the litter was a beautiful array of color! I pulled over behind my husband and sat there watching as dozens of cars and trucks come through it with colored paper and cardstock sucked onto the grills of their vehicles! As much as I wanted to cry, I had to smile! There was too much traffic to get out to try to salvage anything. But he did fix the lock and latches on the door when we got to the next town and drilled a hole in the slide-out storage tray to put a huge bolt with nut in it, so it won’t ever slide out again while we’re traveling. Never, in a million years, did we expect something like that to happen. As much as fifth wheels cost, one would think the latches would be heavy-duty. I lost probably thousands of dollars worth of cardstock, paper and all kinds of crafty embellishments but at least we were safe. I have spent the last two months trying to re-stash paper, cardstock and embellishments, making a list as I discover what’s missing, and I’m no where near finished, lol!

Now for Dawn’s card that went out in the mail to her today. ;) I’m calling this a zig-zag fold. It was super easy, created with Stampin’ Up! Petals & Paisleys DSP. I cut a piece 12″ long by 5-1/4″ wide, found the middle point on one end and cut the piece in a long triangle. I scored it at 4″ and 8″, folded the score lines in zig-zag fashion, then inked the edges on both sides (including the fold lines). I cut a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock measuring 5-1/4″ x 4″ and inked the edges. I glued the pointed flap  to the middle third, then put adhesive on the back side of the larger third and adhered it to the Crushed Curry cardstock, lining up the edge. I cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and inked the edges, then adhered the main piece to it, leaving the back for a handwritten note and signature. I stamped the sentiment on Very Vanilla which I cut with a rectangle die and layered it on a slightly larger Soft Suede rectangular die cut. I adhered that to a piece of fun foam and then affixed it to the front flap. I added red gemstones because it needed some bling. :)

2017_08030005a

I kept the inside simple since the paper was busy. I stamped the sentiment on Very Vanilla which I cut with a rectangle die and layered it on a slightly larger Soft Suede rectangular die cut.

Love Life

Hello, crafty peeps! Well, this is it – my last post for the morning! It’s time for a new challenge over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog and I’m stoked to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #4 – Anything Goes + Paper Piecing. I created a fun note card that I left blank inside to write my own sentiment. Remember, the technique twists are always optional – we offer them simply to inspire you – and they are not required to play in our challenges! Although I don’t do it very often, paper piecing is one of my favorite techniques and I love using patterned paper which always adds depth and texture.

2017_07130049a

I’ve been in a CAS craze lately. If you know me, you know I love colors, layers and big bows! I’ve shied away from clean and simple for so long that now I can’t seem to get enough of it! This card was no exception – I stamped the open image on a small piece of cardstock and cut it with a double-stitched die. I adhered the fussy cut lemon and leaves stamped on the patterned paper, and then layered the panel on a piece of yellow fun foam which you can see underneath it from an angle. Kind of a fun touch! I laid it on the card base for placement, stamped the sentiment in the lower left corner, and then adhered the panel to the card base. I finished the front with randomly placed English Mustard Crystal Drops. Couldn’t have been any easier and sure packs a powerful punch! I love how it turned out! ;)

Vacay

Hi everyone! You know on the 1st of the month I always have several posts – this is the second one and there will be one more after this one! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #100 – Kidz Rule! We’re being sponsored this month by Star Stampz, Bugaboo Digi Stamps and Pickled Potpourri! Come play with us for a chance to win an awesome prize!

I created a cute summer vacation card using the most adorable Knobby Knees Vacation Boy digi from Bugaboo. OMG, I just love him! Man/boy/masculine cards have always been challenging for me so I kept this fairly simple with a couple patterned papers, some torn Core’dinations paper and just a few embellishments.

2017_07280005a

Isn’t this knobby knees kid just the custest ever?! I colored him and cut him with a double-stitched die – you know how I love my stitched dies! I tore one edge of a piece of brown Core’dinations to reveal the kraft core for a little interest under the focal image. I spelled ‘vacay’ using the Newsprint Thickers down the left side and colored them with a green Spectrum Noir marker. To finish the front, I added several drops of Woodland Green Crystal Drops and a few Candi Minis.

2017_07280006a

I decorated the inside with leftover strips of the papers used on the front. I stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of white cardstock, punched it out with a circle punch and then punched a slightly larger circle of the Kraft cardstock used for the base. This turned out really cute! ;)

Wedded Bliss gift card holder

** 8/16/17 Winner at A Bit More Time To Craft Challenge! **

Hello crafty peeps! Happy Tuesday and August 1st! Can you believe it?! It won’t be long until we start seeing Christmas decorations in the stores and commercials on TV, lol! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m stoked to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #13 – August Anything Goes! I created a gorgeous wedding gift card holder using Stampin’ Up! Tag Talk and For The New Two stamp sets. This is my basic go-to gift card holder design – I’ve been making these for years and I love them – the possibilities for embellishing are endless! ;) I dry embossed the pearl metallic cardstock which I layered on gold mirror cardstock. The ‘medallion’ is heat embossed in gold and layered on punched gold mirror and ivory circles.

I heat embossed a simple wedding sentiment in gold and added a small magnet closure.

Hero Arts cherish

** 8/1/17 Top 3 at Tuesday Throwdown! **

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday – I hope your week has started off with a bang! Today is my post day on the a2z Scrapbooking blog and I’m excited to share a DT inspiration project using several Hero Arts products – Vintage Travel Digital Kit, Love by Lia stamp set, Intense Black inkPaper Layering Eiffel Tower die and Detail Black Embossing Powder. I created a CAS anniversary card for the hubs done in one of my favorite color combos of black and white with a pop of red. So romantic! ;)

This card was super easy! I printed the Map overlay and the Postmark stamp in a 5.5″ square area along with the Paris stamp off to one side (all from the Vintage Travel Digital Kit) on white cardstock. I trimmed the map area to a size slightly smaller than my card base and matted it on black cardstock, then cut out the little Paris stamp and adhered it with dimensional foam at an angle over the postmark.

2017_07130013a

I cut a strip of red and white polkadot paper, matted it on black and adhered it across the bottom portion of the map panel. I stamped ‘cherish’ from the Love by Lia stamp set in Versamark and embossed it with the Detail Black Embossing Powder.

2017_07130014a

I adhered the Paper Layering Eiffel Tower  die cut with dimensional foam and finished the front with varying sizes of Berry Red Crystal Drops. I’m loving how this turned out!

2017_07130015a

I decorated the inside with a leftover piece of the polkadot paper, stamped the sentiment from the same Love by Lia stamp set and matted the panel on red cardstock. I went one step further and stamped the bottom portion of the sentiment again in red ink on a scrap piece of white cardstock, fussy cut the little hearts and adhered them over top of the hearts in the sentiment, leaving just a tiny ‘shadow’ of black.

Flower Sandal

** 8/13/17 Sweet Sprinkles Award Winner at Pile It On! **

Hi everyone! Happy Friday – hope you’ve had an amazing week! Mine has been great – life is pretty darn good these days! Today is my post day on the Dare 2B Artzy blog and I’m happy to share a DT inspiration project using three papers from the Fields of Joy Collection Paper Pack – Orange Plaid, Hoot Hoot and Owls & Flowers. This is my last post for the Dare 2B Artzy design team and I thank these ladies for this amazing opportunity – I’ve had such a good time! I’ll be back as a guestie in a few months! ;)

Cindy, owner of Dare 2B Artzy, asked me to create a sandal for her to take to craft shows for display, and this adorable sandal is what I came up with. I created a flip flop template several years ago that I use to make the flip flops and other sandals in my paper shoe collection which you can find HERE if you’re interested in looking.  This sandal has a heel, however, and the others do not (template has no heel) but I will soon update my template to include the optional heel.

2017_07130006a

I targeted a pink and red flower and cut out several of them to layer the different pieces. I added some clear Morning Dew Crystal Drops to the largest pink layer and several tiny silver seed beads (adhered with the Crystal Drops) to the center of the flower for a ‘jeweled’ effect.

2017_07130008a

I have such a shoe fetish and sure wish I could make my own shoes! I’d have a gazillion pairs, lol! So pleased with how this turned out!

Here’s one last shot… of the sole. :)

Hero Arts Poetic Petals Note Cards

** 8/5/17 Top 4 at Daisy Chain Challenges! **

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! My wish for you is a wonderful week coming up! Today is my post day on the a2z Scrapbooking blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project using the Hero Arts Poetic Petals Digital Kit and Say It In Pieces Digital Greetings. I created a set of four CAS note cards, each with a different flower and sentiment on the front and blank inside. These are large, at 5.5″ square, so there’s lots of room inside to write a message. And OMGosh, these flowers are gorgeous!

2017_07090006a

I put a fun little twist on these – that’s the beauty of working with digital images! I created a background of sentiments on which to print the flowers. I created one snippet of the Say It In Pieces Digital Greetings preview sheet, duplicated it three more times and printed the block of four snippets on a sheet of white cardstock.

I put the sentiments sheet back into the printer and printed the flowers right over top of the sentiments. I fussy cut each flower, heat set it and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers. I ran each flower through my Creative Station to put adhesive on the back and adhered it to a piece of vanilla cardstock layered on gold mirror cardstock. For a little texture, I embossed a different color cardstock for each card which I layered on a piece of cardstock matching the color of the flower.

I chose four different sentiments which I printed on vanilla cardstock, cut into flags and layered on the gold mirror cardstock. I adhered the pieces to the card bases and finished each card with pearls. I thoroughly enjoyed making these and I’m so tickled with how they turned out! Here is a close-up of each card:

Clutch Purse w/ Set of Note Cards

** 7/24/17 Top 3 at That’s Crafty Challenge Blog! **

Hi everyone! Happy Friday to you! Today is my post day on the Dare 2B Artzy blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project using the amazing Paisley Bliss stamp set, Paisley paper and Totally Black ink. I created an awesome little clutch purse with a set of four note cards. This is the second set I’ve created and the possibilities are literally endless! If you’re interested, you can see the first set HERE. ;)

2017_06070008a

I stamped the “Creativity takes courage” quote (which I absolutely love) on the front flap that I decorated with the strip from the top of the paper and some thin strips of navy blue cardstock, and a vintage button.

2017_06070009a

I stamped the large paisley from the Paisley Bliss stamp set on a scrap piece of white cardstock, scanned it and cut it with my Scan N Cut, and colored it with three Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. The Zig colors were pretty bright so I layered a piece of thick vellum (also cut with the Scan N Cut using the same scanned paisley shape) to mute the colors. I used this as an accent on the bottom of the flap.

2017_06070010a

This is a shot of the back flap which I decorated with thin strips of navy blue cardstock.

2017_06070011a

This is the clutch purse opened up to reveal the set of cards. Really loving how this set turned out! ;)

2017_06070012a

The set of four cards are all stamped with that awesome quote and several paisley stamps, and colored with the same three Zig markers.  I even stamped and colored a small paisley on the envelopes! I added a layer of the vellum (to mute the colors), several sequins and a hand-cut flag with a tiny button to each card.
