Hero Arts meow

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday – top of the week to you! Today is my post day on the a2z Scrapbooking blog and I’m happy to share a DT inspiration project using the absolutely adorable Hero Arts Purr stamp setHero Arts Purr Frame CutsHero Arts Intense Black ink and Hero Arts Assorted Gemstones. I created a split closure tri-fold – a fancy fold that I’ve never tried before and thoroughly enjoyed! A huge thank you to my friend, Dawn, for the inspiration!

Before I get to my project details, we’ve had quite a few of the Hero Arts stamp sets and dies sell out recently and these were among them. I work ahead and had this card made prior to this stamp set selling out, but I have good news – you can special order the stamps and dies at no extra cost when you order your other Hero Arts supplies from a2Z Scrapbooking!

I created this card in neutrals, with a black base and brown cardstock layered beneath all the pieces of patterned paper. I embellished the panels with die cuts, stamping and gemstones.

Here is a series of shots of the card opening up to expose the most inner panel.

Hero Arts Caffeine Note Cards (set of 8)

** 10/15/17 Top 3 Winner at Createful Heart Digis & Design Challenges! **

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday! I’m posting on the a2z Scrapbooking blog today and I’m excited to share a DT inspiration project using the Hero Arts Caffeine Fix Digital Kit. I created a fun set of 8 note cards that I splattered with water, distressed with ink, and in general made them look somewhat messy. Can you tell I had an inky good time?! ;)

2017_07090001a

Despite the complex look, they really were pretty simple to create as all eight are the same. Working in assembly line fashion, I printed eight brown versions of the ‘low battery’ image from the digital kit and fussy them, and put them in a pile. I heavily distressed the edges of the card bases to make them look ‘dirty’ and put them in a pile. Using the Tweed Pattern stencil and dark brown ink, I stenciled several pieces of medium brown cardstock, cut them into smaller pieces and layered them on dark brown cardstock. I adhered those to the fronts of the card bases along with the ‘low battery’ images. I inked the bottom of a red solo cup and ‘stamped’ it onto each card front to resemble a sloppy coffee cup ring, splattered a little water and adhered a few brown sequins.

I’d love to enter this set of cards into the following challenges:

Hero Arts wild and crazy Birthday

Hello, crafty friends! Happy Monday to you all! I have some great news to share – participants playing in the a2z Scrapbooking challenges are no longer required to use Hero Arts products! Yay! Each month we will feature a ‘Digi of the Month’ which will be the prize offered to our randomly-chosen challenge winner. And to sweeten the pot, if you are the randomly-chosen winner and you have used Hero Arts products on your project, you’ll ALSO win a $20 gift certificate to the store! How cool is that?!

Our October Digi of the Month is the Hero Arts Go Wild Digital Kit.

I volunteered to create a sample using the the October Digi of the Month, and created a fun one-layer all-digital birthday card using almost all of the images in the kit. This was super fun and super easy!

2017_09230005a

I created the background using the Hero Arts Go Wild Digital Kit, resizing and recoloring all the images I used. I also used digital buttons from the Hero Arts Say It (in Pieces) Digital Greetings, resizing and recoloring those, too, as I applied them to my layout. After creating the layout I wanted, I printed it and trimmed it, then layered it on black cardstock and again on blue cardstock, and adhered it to the card base. I applied Morning Dew Crystal Drops to the buttons and a few other random places on the card front.

2017_09230006a

I printed a sentiment for the inside from the Say It (in Pieces) Digital Greetings, trimmed it and adhered it to the inside panel which was also layered in black and then blue cardstock. Really loving how this turned out!

2017_09230007a

I’d love to enter this fun birthday card into the following challenges:

Hero Arts vintage is totally cool

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday! It’s October 1st and that means a new challenge over on the a2z Scrapbooking blog! I’ve been playing with the Hero Arts Irreverent Birthday Messages (again!) and the Hero Arts Feathers Cut File, and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for our October Watercolor challenge!

oct challenge graphic

I created a fun birthday card with a little ‘vintage’ humor. I chuckled mercilessly while I was putting this together, lol! As I mentioned the last time I used the Irreverent Birthday Messages stamp set, it is unfortunately sold out in the a2z Scrapbooking store. I always work ahead and had this card made when the set sold out, however, you can special order it at no extra cost when you order your other Hero Arts stamps from a2Z Scrapbooking!

2017_07130026a

I created the background with several layers of distress oxides on water color paper. I then used the Hero Arts Leaf and Flourish stencil with Dreamweaver translucent embossing paste to get a subtle pattern over top of the distress background. when that was dry, I splattered slightly-watered-down walnut stain distress ink and Picket Fence distress stain over the background, inked the edges in walnut stain distress ink and adhered the panel to the card base.

2017_07130027a

I cut the feathers using the Hero Arts Feathers Cut File from white cardstock and inked them with walnut stain and vintage photo distress inks. I carefully curled the edges a bit and affixed them to the water colored panel. I also stamped the front sentiment on a white cardstock scrap, cut it into a banner on one end and tucked it under the ends of the feathers. I inked a tiny pre-tied bow with worn lipstick distress oxide ink and when dried, adhered it to the bottom of the feathers and sentiment banner. I finished the front with a few scattered sequins.

2017_07130028a

I stamped the inside sentiment in distress inks and embellished the panel with a leftover strip of brown cardstock.

Hero Arts merry Christmas

Hi everyone! Well, the month of September is almost history and we’ve begun seeing Christmas decorations in the stores. The jolly man in the red suit will be sliding down chimneys in the blink of an eye, lol! Today is my post day on the a2z Scrapbooking blog and I’m happy to share a DT inspiration project using several Hero Arts products – merry Stamp & CutClear Embossing Powder and Clear Gemstones. I created a festive patchwork Christmas card and my inspiration once again came from my friend, Dawn. ;)

Before I get to my project details, quite a few of the Hero Arts stamp sets and dies have sold out in the a2z Scrapbooking store and unfortunately this Stamp & Cut set was one of them. Yep, it happened again, lol! I work ahead and had this card made prior to this stamp set selling out, but I have good news – you can special order it at no extra cost when you order your other Hero Arts stamps from a2Z Scrapbooking!

I created the patchwork squares with scraps of green and red patterned paper layered on white cardstock and popped up on white Foamies foam. I have soooo many scraps and it is always a great feeling to use some of them up, lol!

2017_08040006a

I die cut the word ‘merry’ several times in white cardstock and also red cardstock adhered to Stick It sheet, and layered them with the red showing on the bottom for a shadow effect. I stamped the word “Christmas” beneath the die cut in green ink and then again in Versamark using the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform, and embossed it in clear embossing powder. I discovered this trick several years ago when I didn’t have a specific color of embossing powder I wanted, and because of that, the only colors of embossing powder that I buy these days are the ‘metal’ colors (gold, silver, platinum, etc.)! I colored a large clear gemstone with Spectrum Noir DR2 to use as an embellishment on one of the patchwork squares, and added a strip of tiny red rhinestones from my stash.

2017_08040007a

For the inside, I stamped the sentiment and some stars in green and layered the panel on red cardstock. For a little shimmer, I colored the stars with a crystal clear overlay sparkle marker. I really love how this turned out!

2017_08040008a

I’d love to enter this Christmas card in a couple challenges:
Dream Valley Challenge: #164 – One For The Girls

Hero Arts Oldtimer’s Happy Birthday

Hi everyone! It’s already the middle of September… another few weeks closer to Christmas, lol! I’m posting today on the a2z Scrapbooking blog and I’m happy to share a DT inspiration project using several Hero Arts products – Irreverent Birthday Messages stamp set, blessings Stamp & Cut, Intense Black ink, and White Embossing Powder. I created a fun 3-D birthday card featuring birthday sentiments for ‘old’ people as well as a pop-up instant one-step camera from back in the day! Remember those?!

Before I get to my project details, quite a few of the Hero Arts stamp sets have sold out in the a2z Scrapbooking store and unfortunately the Irreverent Birthday Messages stamp set was one of those that sold out. I work ahead and had this card made prior to this stamp set selling out. Seems this has been happening to me a lot lately, lol! But I have good news – you can special order it at no extra cost when you order your other Hero Arts stamps from a2Z Scrapbooking!

The stamped image and sentiments on the front are all from the Hero Arts Irreverent Birthday Messages stamp set.

2017_09040004a

I stamped a genuine (from the heart) sentiment above the camera from the Hero Arts blessings Stamp & Cut set in Hero Arts Black Intense ink.

2017_09040005a

This was probably one of the most fun cards I’ve ever created. I had one of these cameras and I’m pretty sure I chuckled throughout the entire process of making this, lol!

2017_09040006a

I went back to the Hero Arts Irreverent Birthday Messages stamp set for the sentiment on the ‘instant camera picture’ which I embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. Love how this turned out! :)

Hero Arts L-O-V-E

** 10/10/17 Top Pick at Sweet Stampers Challenge Blog! **

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday – hope you have a fantastic week coming up!  Today is my post day on the a2z Scrapbooking blog and I’m happy to share a DT inspiration project using Hero Arts Love by Lia and Hero Arts Romeo & Juliet stamp sets! I created a shabby chic Valentine with lots of layers and lots of ink!

I had an absolute blast creating this card. I wanted a few red heat-embossed elements and don’t have any red embossing powder, so the L-O-V-E sentiment and three hearts from the Love by Lia stamp set were stamped in Versamark over top of red ink then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. This is an awesome trick you can use to make it appear like you have virtually any color embossing powder!

2017_08080001a

I started with a watercolored background using Scarlet and Brilliant Red Brusho powders. Then I went through a couple ephemera packs and pulled out quite a few elements that I wanted to use, distressed the edges, and started laying them down.

2017_08080002a

When I was happy with the placement, I started adhering the pieces. Some were adhered flat and some have foam tape under them for a little dimension. I fussy cut the embossed hearts and added a game spinner for the butterfly body, a twine bow and a strip of fabric roses. I splattered watered-down Walnut Stain distress ink over the entire panel and added some Crystal Drops. LOTS to feast the eyes upon, lol!

2017_08080003a2017_08080004a2017_08080005a2017_08080006a

I stamped a sentiment and more hearts from the Romeo & Juliet stamp set on the inside panel, hand-drew a couple wavy lines down the left side and distressed the edges, then layered the panel on black cardstock. Really loving how this turned out!

Hero Arts Peacock hello

Hi everyone! Happy Friday – hope you’ve had a good week! Today is my post day on the a2z Scrapbooking blog and I’m happy to share a DT inspiration project using the Hero Arts Color Layering Peacock stamp set, Hero Arts Peacock Layering Inks and Versamark. I’ve created an all-occasion card in one of my (many) favorite color combos of blue and green, and this card could be used for birthday, encouragement or just because. These color layering stamps and accompanying sentiments are amazing!

Before I get to my project details, we’ve had quite a few of the Hero Arts color layering stamp sets sell out recently and this was one of them. I work ahead and had this card made prior to this stamp set selling out, but I have good news – you can special order it at no extra cost when you order your other Hero Arts stamps from a2Z Scrapbooking!

2017_07130010a

I created the background by stamping a peacock feather and several swirl designs in Versamark randomly over a piece of green cardstock which I layered on silver mirror cardstock. It’s been a long while since I’ve used Versamark as a watermark and I really like the look! Next, for the focal image, I stamped the peacock and simple sentiment on white cardstock, trimmed it and layered it on silver mirror cardstock and then on a navy blue panel with a scallop border on each side. I centered this on the watermark background and then adhered the panel to the card base.

2017_07130011a

I decorated the inside panel with two narrow strips of navy blue cardstock, stamped the sentiment and layered the panel on green cardstock. I’m really loving how this turned out!

Hero Arts just flitting by

** 8/20/17 Winner at Dragonfly Journeys! **

Hi everyone! Happy Hump Day! I’m posting today on the a2z Scrapbooking blog and I’m excited to share a DT inspiration project using the Hero Arts Color Layering Butterflies stamp set along with the Neon Ink Cubes (Blue, Green, Orange, Pink) and Intense Black ink. In keeping with our “Bright and Beautiful” challenge this month, I created a clean and simple note card. OMG, talk about some inky fun! These stamps and inks are amazing!

2017_07130020a

I stamped the butterfly and sentiment on a die cut and layered it on white fun foam. I did manage to use all four of the Neon inks in the set on this card and got a bonus fifth color of purple on the butterfly by stamping blue over the pink. How cool is that?! Using the direct-to-paper technique, I inked three strips of cardstock in blue, green and orange, and trimmed them in varying widths to adhere diagonally across the bottom half of the card base. I finished the front with some drops of Morning New Crystal Drops which dries clear and gives some awesome texture. I left the inside blank since this is a note card.
