and so the adventure begins

Hi, everyone! As I mentioned in my last post, I’m participating in the Gecko Galz Tricks & Treats Blog Hop and have decided to showcase each of my blog hop projects individually so I can enjoy sharing them in some challenges, and I’m back to share my second card. All five of my cards feature images from the very awesome Retro Cuties Collage Sheet which I’m giving away on my blog, so be sure to check out all the details in my blog post HERE and join us for the hop!

This image just screamed ‘beach’ to me so that’s where I went when I started gathering supplies for this card. I layered this gorgeous image on silver cardstock and then on navy cardstock. I created the background with two printed papers, a strip of cork and a large navy flag, and then affixed the layered image on foam. I added a sentiment sticker and several rhinestones to finish it off.

I decorated the inside with leftover strips of paper and cardstock used on the front, and then stamped a simple sentiment.

And one final peek from an angle so you can see the dimension. Super happy with how this turned out!

Wish Upon A Star

Hello, my crafty friends! I’m super stoked to be participating in the Gecko Galz Tricks & Treats Blog Hop and have decided to showcase each of my blog hop projects individually so I can enjoy sharing them in some challenges. The sentiment used on the front of this card is from the Gecko Galz Charming Words Collage Set. This was a super fun card to put together and I loved matching the colors in the image and layering the elements. I created the background with some papers from my scrap stash and layered them on the denim cardstock. I layered the sassy lady image on a dotted rectangle die cut and placed a primitive star die cut beneath it. I used star sequins adorned with seed beads. You can’t see it in the photos, but I added some sparkle to the stars on the image with a Gelly Roll pen.

I decorated the inside panel with leftover strips of the dotted paper and cardstock used on the front, and then stamped a birthday sentiment.

The Witches’ Dream Book & Fortune Teller

** Best Technique Winner at Classic Design Team Open Challenge Blog! **

Hello crafty peeps! Happy Sunday – here’s to a wonderful week coming up! Today is my Featured Post Day on the Gecko Galz blog and I’m stoked to share my DT inspiration project using elements from the Gecko Galz Good Fortune Collage Set and Frightfully Delightful Digital Junk Journal Kit. I created an awesome little accordion book with journal tags. OMG, so fun – I love the front cover!

2018_08120005a

Using six different Gecko Galz digital fortune teller images, I created pockets on each ‘page’ and tucked a journal card in each one. I rounded the corners and inked the edges of all the images and tags, and embellished each image with a Clear Star shimmer pen and/or Crystal Clear Sparkle Overlay marker for a little interest.

Here are close-ups of the fortune teller images…

And here’s the back – love the Ouija board!

2018_08120010a

One final shot of the book closed and tied up. I adhered a length of sheer ribbon beneath the front cover that I wrapped around the back and tied in a bow. I’m stoked about how this turned out!

Something Wicked This Way Comes tag

Hello, my crafty friends! October is a month of fun… cooler weather and wonderful smells, my birthday (the big ‘six-oh’ this year), Halloween, and a little closer to Christmas! Another fun challenge is live over at Gecko Galz and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for the October Witching Hour Customer Challenge!

I was in the mood to create a tag, so I created a fun and creepy wicked tag that doubles as a gift card holder. And it’s packed with lots of layers and fun printed Gecko Galz stuff! I used elements from the Frightfully Delightful Digital Junk Journal Kit and Alter It Digital Collage Sheets.

2018_08190001a

This was so much fun! I hand-cut my tag and distressed the edges. I added some Gecko Galz digital paper, cork tape and rust paste with stencil. While the rust paste was drying, I gathered Gecko Galz digital ephemera, brads and other doo-dads, flowers and ribbon. And how creepy is that little girl?! LOL!

2018_08190002a

I fussy cut and inked the edges of all the pieces of digital ephemera and started laying out all the elements.

2018_08190003a

When I was happy with the placement of everything, I started gluing and adhering. Fortunately, I had punched out the watch face and covered it with Glossy Accents the night before so it was dry and ready to use.

2018_08190004a

I had lots of ribbon scraps to use on the top – I’m a ‘ribbon ho’ and don’t throw much away, lol!

2018_08190005a

There are tons of layers on this, that’s for sure. Did I mention how creepy that little girl is?! I dotted Glossy Accents on her eyes for a little extra creepiness…

2018_08190006a

Here’s a shot of the back showing the gift card holder. Really happy with how this turned out!

gorgeous

Hello crafty peeps! Seems like I was just here posting a pile of projects for the 1st and now we’re already a week into September! This month will be gone in a blink too, lol! Today is my Featured Post Day on the Gecko Galz blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project using an absolutely gorgeous image from the Tres Chic Collage Set as well as paper from the Paper Roses Mini Paper Pack and sentiment from the Charming Words Collage Set! It’s been a while since I created a step card and I thought this image and the paper would look just beautiful on one. Our challenge this month is Putting on the Ritz so come play with us!

LeslieTurner-Sep-FDsample

I created the step card base from light pink cardstock. I trimmed the image and layered it on a darker pink cardstock and then on silver foil cardstock. I gave her dress a nice coat of clear sparkle overlay marker to give it some gorgeous shimmer. I created a lace edge die cut from white glitter paper and used sections above and below the layered image, and then layered the image on white foam.

2018_08120013a

I cut panels for the sides and bottom of the step card base from the Paper Roses Mini Paper Pack and layered them on the darker pink cardstock. I added a sentiment from the Charming Words Collage Set across the bottom panel and traced the word with a clear star shimmer pen. I affixed several large pink gemstones on the sides and bottom as well as tiny white pearls on the lace die cut.

2018_08120014a

And here’s one final look… absolutely loving how this turned out!

leave a little sparkle

Hi everyone! I’m winding down with my first-of-the-month posts and thanks for hanging in there with me! One more after this one, lol! A new challenge is live over at Gecko Galz and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for the September Putting on the Ritz Customer Challenge!

Sept-Challenge-Badge
This is my first Gecko Galz post and I wanted to create something super ritzy! So I used lots of glam and glitz with the image I used from the Retro Christmas Collage Set! Isn’t she sassy?!

LeslieTurner-Sep-CCsample

Lots of layering going on here. I layered the background on black cardstock and added a pretty frilly lacy die cut edge down the left side. I added a thin faux stitched border down the center of the die cut edge and added some clear rhinestones. I cut the image with a dotted rectangles die and layered it on teal foil cardstock, then on black cardstock, then on pastel teal glitter paper and then another layer of black cardstock and popped up on foam for some dimension. I gave her dress, the trees in the background and the snowflakes all a nice coat of shimmer which you can’t see, darn it! The final touches were the sentiment sticker and file tab.

2018_08120002a

I decorated the inside with leftover strips of patterned paper and black cardstock used on the front, stamped a super cool sentiment and layered the panel on more black cardstock.

2018_08120003a

One final look… love the dimension! Love how this turned out! :)

Gecko Galz Design Team!

I have some wonderful news… I’ve been asked to join the Gecko Galz Design Team and I’m very excited about this opportunity! So many amazing digital products to work with – from collage sheets and paper packs to stamps and ephemera packs! Can’t wait to get started in September, which will be here before we know it! :)

design team badge

After several months of not having much mojo since my husband became critically ill in early March, I’m slowly feeling like crafting again. We closed on a house in early April (despite my husband still being very ill) and we really feel like we belong here. This house is just wonderful… it’s on 15 acres in the country with a separate workshop for him and a separate studio/craft room for me. He’s slowly progressing to the point where he’s able to ‘piddle’ in his workshop and my heart is full, so full that I feel like creating again. What a good feeling! So what better time to join a new DT than now!

We have monthly Customer Challenges over at the Gecko Galz Blog, so come on over and play! Looking forward to creating with this amazing team of designers!

Scrappy hugs,
