so happy for you

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! I’m stoked to be back on the CutCardStock blog today with an awesome DT inspiration project featuring Pop-Tone cardstock that was included in our Designer’s Pack! First order of business is to let you know that this post contains affiliate links. I created a pretty congrats card that initially made me think ‘wedding’ but really could be used for just about any occasion calling for congratulations – and this one is loaded with color!

DSCF6502

This is a quilt block card. I used Pop-Tone Grape Jelly cardstock, Pop-Tone Orange Fizz cardstock, Pop-Tone Razzleberry cardstock and Pop-Tone Wild Cherry cardstock as the base layers of the quilt blocks which really pop on the Pop-Tone Black Licorice cardstock background. I matched the flower ink colors to the colors of the Pop-Tone cardstock and added some tiny iridescent gemstones to the center of each flower.

DSCF6503

I embellished the inside panel with strips of the Pop-Tone cardstock used for the quilt blocks on the front, stamped the sentiment in black ink and layered the panel on the black Pop-Tone cardstock.

One more peek… I’m so smitten with these Pop-Tone cardstock colors! ;)

Winged Things Notelets

6/15/20 Top 3 at The Crafter’s Cafe Challenge Blog!

Hi friends! Hope you’re having a great day! I have a very cool project to share with you today – a set of butterfly and dragonfly notelets with matching envelopes. I originally created this project for one of my design teams but the owner is having the blog transferred over to a new platform and since learning that our June projects won’t be publishing as scheduled, I’ve turned this into a ‘just for fun’ kind of project!

2020_03200011

I created a set of 12 notelets to match the envelopes using the same digital printable. There are six of the butterflies and six of the dragonflies, and they are small in size, but sure pack a powerful punch! I printed the 12 envelopes, did some fussy cutting and assembled them. For a little interest, I adhered a 1/4″ teal blue strip across the top of each flap and then affixed a small strip of 1/8″ Scor-Tape on the inside of each flap. I printed 12 more envelopes and used a stitched die to cut just the butterfly and dragonfly images, and then cut more 1/4″ teal blue strips to adhere to the bottom of the die cut panels. I created 12 little card bases, blank on the inside, measuring 3-1/4″ x 2-1/4″. I inked the front edges of the card bases and the die cut panels with walnut distress ink. I adhered a teal blue strip across the bottom of each of the die cut panels and then adhered the panels to the card bases.

One more peek at the set… loving how these turned out! Cutest little notelets ever! ;)

6/15/20 Winner at Pammie’s Inky Pinkies Challenges!

Hi everyone! Hope you’re having a good week! Our new challenge is live over at Southern Girls Challenge and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project with you today! As always, the theme for our challenge is Anything Goes and we’d love to see what you create! Our sponsors this time are Three Button Studio, The Paper Shelter and Beccy’s Place. I was provided the super cool Neville image and a sentiment from the Gnomes in my Garden digital set. OMG, isn’t he just the cutest ever?! If I wasn’t married and Neville was a real-life dude, I’d be in love! ;)

2020_0423014

I angled the corners of the card base and went with a warm color palette, layering the background paper and front (computer-generated) sentiment on charcoal cardstock. I colored Neville in rich red, yellow and browns, and layered a total of four fussy cuts of him on top of one another for some dimension. I had to give some life to my guy, lol! ;) I finished off the front with some pewter sequins.

2020_0423015

I printed the sentiment that came with the image, trimmed the panel and embellished it with paper and cardstock used on the front.

2020_0423016

And one more peek… OMG, I AM so in love! What an awesome image and sentiment. I might have to buy Beccy’s gnome set because the other gnomes are pretty awesome too! ;)

Hi everyone! Another great Happy Hump Day to you! Today is my post day on the Simply Crafty SVGs Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project with you, a set of Christmas cards for my stash created with the Simply Crafty SVGs Christmas Tree Card Set cut file. OMG, I love these! Very awesome additions to my Christmas card stash!

I went with a kraft cardstock card base on all of the cards, as well as green, brown and yellow elements. I added tiny Dot Sparklers to all the trees in different colors. Here are close-ups of all the cards…

Yum treat box

Hello, my crafty friends! Hope you’re having a good week! This month’s Anything Goes with Dies Challenge is live over at Happy Little Stampers and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project with you today! This is my last post for the Happy Little Stampers Die Team and I’d like to thank Kylie and the rest of the crew for having me along for the last year and a half! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself!

I created a super cute pink and white polkadot treat box using the Stampin’ Up Baker’s Box Thinlits. I cut three ‘yum’ sentiments from hot pink textured cardstock and adhered them on top of one another for a little dimension, and then added tiny dots with a white Gelly Roll pen. I used pink Silky Crush ribbon to tie the box closed.

2019_1213001a

Here are a couple shots showing the back of the box. Reminds me of a little milk carton. So stinkin’ cute! ;)

Here’s one more look… I love how this turned out and it’ll look even cuter with some Jelly Belly jellybeans in it, lol! ;)

I feel a party coming on!

6/13/20 Top Rocker at 613 Avenue Create!

Hi friends! Wow, this weekend sure went by fast… can’t believe it’s Monday again already! This year is flying by! I know I’ve said this before but my Mom always said ‘the older you get, the faster the time flies’ and boy she wasn’t kidding! I’ve popped on this morning to share one final card I created for this batch of ongoing Outlawz Challenges. This one is for the Twisted Thursday Challenge where the theme is always Anything Goes with an optional twist. Our sponsor this month is Some Odd Girl and the twist this time is Party Time! I created a fun watercolor birthday card with lots of shimmer!

When I saw the twist for this challenge, I knew I had to use this large party stamp! I stamped the image on cold press watercolor paper in black soot archival ink and then again in Versamark on top of the black, applied clear embossing powder and heat embossed it. This is a trick I learned years ago to get virtually any color of heat embossing – totally eliminates the need for purchasing colored embossing powder! I used brush markers and a water brush to watercolor the image, drying sections at a time with my heat tool being careful not to burn the embossing powder. I outlined the word ‘party’ with a gold paint marker, and then added shimmer to the words and the elements on the party hat. I cut the image with a large rectangle die and adhered it to a metallic blue cardstock base. I added a tiny gemstone to the top of the hat and a few randomly placed gold sequins to complete the front.

I embellished the inside panel with a strip of the metallic blue cardstock used for the base and then layered it on green cardstock to compliment the green in the word ‘party’ on the front. I stamped the sentiment in black ink and adhered the panel to the inside of the card base.

One more peek… I’m absolutely thrilled with how this turned out! The embossing and the shimmer really make this image pop!

You’re stinkin’ cute!

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday – hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! It has been awesome having a few free days in my studio – with no design team projects required – with rockin’ mojo! I was absolutely loving it! I’ve popped in bright and early this morning to share a card for the Outlawz Festive Fridays Challenge! The themes available to choose from were Christmas, Male Birthday, Father’s Day and Anything Goes. I chose Anything Goes and created a bi-level card featuring an adorable skunk!

I stamped the skunk in black and colored it with Nuvo alcohol markers. I cut it with the coordinating die and layered it onto three additional skunk die cuts for some dimension. I also stamped and colored three hearts which I cut with the coordinating die. I cut a bi-level card base (meaning the front flap is cut shorter than the back flap) from white card stock using a pointed scalloped border die. I stamped the sentiment on the longest edge and adhered the skunk toward the left side, along with some heart die cuts. I adhered some black and white gingham paper to the inside of the card base so it can be seen when the card is closed.

I created a stitched square die cut to use as the inside panel which I embellished with a strip of red cardstock to compliment the red hearts on the front, then stamped the sentiment in black ink.

And one more peek… so stinkin’ cute I can’t even stand it!

Love You

Hi everyone! Well, the wind is still whippin’ out there but the gray sky has turned into a beautiful blue, so it has definitely turned out to be a gorgeous day here in Colorado! I’ve popped in for the last time today (I’m sure you’re tired of me by now, lol!) to share a card I created for The Outlawz Progressive/Freebie Challenge! Our sponsor this month is Hettie Clare Art and we were provided the super cute Pony Plait digital image to play with. I created a card featuring this adorable image paired with burlap and corrugated kraft cardstock for a little texture and interest.

I used Gamsol and colored pencils to color this image and then cut it with a stitched rectangle die. I stamped the sentiment directly on the image die cut and layered it onto a strip of corrugated kraft cardstock layered onto a rectangle cut from burlap which I adhered to the card front.

I embellished the inside panel with a couple strips of Twine cardstock, stamped the sentiment, and then layered the panel onto more of the Twine cardstock.

And one more look… I just love how this turned out! What a sweet image!

Believe

7/1/20 Top 5 at QKR Stampede!

Hi everyone! I’m baaack! Yep, you guessed it… with another card created for The Outlawz Challenges, lol! I’ve had such a good time cranking them out over the past couple days! This one is for the Tuesday Color Challenge where our sponsor this month is SheepSki Designs so be sure to come over and play! The colors for this challenge are black and white plus one color of choice – with a twist of stripes!

I used black and white striped cardstock for my background which I layered on black cardstock. I colored the SheepSki Designs Wild Roses digital image in shades of green. Green is my all-time favorite color and I thought it looked fabulous on the black and white!

I used a coloring technique that I haven’t used in years – Gamsol with colored pencils. I thoroughly enjoyed this and had forgotten how much fun it was… so much so that I used it on another project the same day, lol! I used a digital sentiment which I layered on several pieces of cardstock, trimmed and placed in the bottom right corner. I completed the front with some randomly placed white flat-back pearls.

I embellished the inside panel with a strip of the black and white striped cardstock, added a digital sentiment, and layered the panel on the black cardstock.

And one more look… totally loving this color combo!

Hello again, peeps! Sending lots of smiles your way! I’m back with another card I created for The Outlawz Challenges – this one is for the Wednesday Sketch Challenge and we were given this beautifully simple sketch to follow!

Leigh SB Designs is our sponsor this month so come on over and play! I created a pretty thank you card – I always say one can never have too many of these on hand! This one was a lot of fun! Sketches, in general, are a lot of fun because they take most of the guess-work out of designing, and we can all use that occasionally!

I pulled out one of my favorite cardstock stacks to use for the layers on this card. Every print in the stack coordinates so you always have a beautiful card when using this cardstock! I cut an ivory card base, layered all the printed pieces on ivory cardstock, and created a stacked die cut sentiment from ivory cardstock to pull it all together. I finished off the front with some bling I’ve had in my stash forever that’s never seen the light of day!

I cut the inside panel to match the front, stamped the sentiment, and layered it on some of the red print used on the front.

And one more peek… I’m absolutely loving how this turned out! Such an amazing sketch!
