Happy New Home!

Hi friends! It’s Hump Day and I hope you’re having a fabulous week! It’s Day 3 of the 2022 Cat Lovers Hop and I’ve popped in this morning with fun mini slimline pet rescue card! The Hop is going on until the 29th, so if you’re a fellow cat lover, come join us! There’s a lot of fun and games to join in every day, and Janis has lined up some pretty amazing prizes to give away at the end!

It’s always fun to give a card to someone who has opened their heart to give a rescue a home, regardless of the species. This one just happens to be for a cat and I’ve used the adorable Prickley Pear Stamps Slimline Hanging Plants stamp set to create a little scene with a feline who looks mighty happy to have been re-homed. ;)

I cut a 3-1/2″ x 6″ mini slimline card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock along with a layering panel from 80# Solar White, and rounded the bottom right corner of each. I dry embossed the layering panel using Catherine Pooler Twilight ink on the Tim Holtz Alterations Texture Fades-Bricked Embossing Folder to create the brick wall. I stamped the kitty and hanging basket in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Solar White cardstock and colored them with alcohol markers. I fussy cut the kitty and die cut the basket with the coordinating die, and set them aside. I paper pieced the stone walkway with CutCardStock Basis Gray and Shadow Gray cardstock before adhering the kitty. I stamped the sentiment from the Paper Smooches Charmed Cat 2 stamp set in Catherine Pooler Midnight ink on a scrap piece of Solar White cardstock, trimmed it and added a hand-drawn line with a Copic black 0.3 multi-liner pen.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a strip of CutCardStock Basis Gray cardstock. I stamped the sentiment and paw print (from the Paper Smooches Charmed Cat 2 stamp set) in Catherine Pooler Midnight ink and layered the panel on Basis Gray cardstock.

I'm definitely what one could consider a crafting junkie! I love making cards, 3-D projects (especially paper shoes, mini albums and gift bags), mixed media projects, altering items, as well as occasional beading and making jewelry! Fortunately, hubby is very supportive! Life is good! :D

  1. Yes, who rescued who! What a lovely thought to give a rescuer a sweet card! All my cats are always rescues, they need us the most (or we need them) I love with way your kitty is looking up at the hanging plant… me thinks it might become a victim.. either the plant would be or the cat! Do love a slimline card! Happy hopping!

  2. Wow – this is fabulous, Leslie – the brick wall background is so realistic. Taking in rescue cats is so rewarding – my last one was a rescue and he had so much love to offer. It’s a really lovely idea to give a card to a new rescue family. x

  7. Love your awesome card and especially the sentiment on the inside as it is so true. Our last kitty was a 6.5 year old rescue cat who had gone through a lot of abuse during the 1st part of her life. The moment we walked into the vets office to pick up our previous cats ashes and little urn, “Boo” came whipping around the corner and ran up to me and starting purring. It was love at first sight. It took some time (Months) of convincing my husband and after several circumstances he agreed that it was fate and she was meant to come live with us. After some scratches in the beginning, she learned that it was ok to hugged and loved. I told her that no matter what she did, we wouldn’t get angry with her, those days for her were over when she met us. She turned out to be one of the most loveable little ladies and the vet and staff didn’t even recognize her when we brought her back in for a check up. They kept asking if she was the same kitty that had left there. LOL!
Thanks for participating in the 2022 Cat Lovers Hop! I’m hopping by to say hi to everyone and check out all of the amazing cat creations and inspiration.
