Hi everyone! Happy Sunday! I’m back at it… got all my household chores done yesterday afternoon, and my DT responsibilities were all caught up, so I created a pretty card for The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. Our sponsor this month is Sherry West Art so come on over and play! Despite the complex appearance, it was quite simple and went together pretty quickly. We were given a gorgeous Tic-Tac-Toe board to use as inspiration, and I focused on the square at the top right going down to the bottom left – using (1) butterfly/bling/white, (2) heart, and (3) flower/green. When I spotted the green in the base of the flower petals (my all-time favorite color) I chose green as the predominant color in my card along with the white.

I cut a square card base and layered green patterned paper cut about 1/16″ smaller than the size of the card base. I heat embossed a line of hearts in white on a piece of green cardstock and adhered it to the bottom of the front panel. I punched a small butterfly and embellished it with tiny green gemstones, and set it aside. I stamped the sentiment in green ink and cut it with a small stitched rectangle die, and set it aside.

2020_0523006

I heat embossed a large flower on vellum (from the under side) using white embossing powder and then gently turned the petals and leaves white by breaking the fibers with a ball stylus. I adhered the image to green cardstock with my Xyron Creative Station and cut it with a stitched circle die. I adhered a thin stitched circle frame on top of the flower and then adhered the entire focal image to a white lacey circle die cut. I adhered the piece to the card front and added the butterfly and sentiment. I finished the front with a few larger green gemstones.

2020_0523007

I stamped the inside sentiment in green ink, embellished the panel with a strip of the green cardstock, and then adhered the panel onto more of the green cardstock.

2020_0523008

And one more peek… love how this turned out! Stamping and embossing on vellum yields such a beautiful result and I don’t do it nearly as often as I should!

Vintage Floral Embellishments & ATCs

6/14/20 DT Favorite at World Wide Open Design Team Monthly Challenge!

Howdy friends! I hope you’re having a Happy Friday! I’m super stoked to share my Ephemoire inspiration project with you this morning. If you haven’t already done so, be sure to head over to the Ephemoire Etsy Shop to check out all the amazing digital printables… there are collage sheets, digital papers, journal kits, clip art and mixed media printables, and the print quality is awesome! This is my last post for the Ephemoire Dream Team and I thank Traci and the rest of the crew for having me along for the past 13 months. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself and it has been such an honor to design with Traci’s gorgeous printables!

I was provided the Heirloom Roses 1″ Circles Collage Sheet to play with this month which I paired with the Vintage Floral 2″ Circles Collage Sheet from my stash to create a couple different kinds of crafty embellishments… domes and buttons! How fun is that?!

For the domes, I printed the 1″ circle collage sheet on 60# Hammermill copy paper and punched out each one with a 1″ circle punch. I adhered a 1″ plain white cardstock circle on the back of each 1″ floral circle and then added a clear epoxy dome over the top of each to create pretty floral embellishments.

For the buttons, I printed the 2″ circle collage sheet on Grafix shrink film and punched out each circle with a 1-3/4″ circle punch. I punched two holes in the center of each 2″ circle with my Big Bite to create the button holes and heated them with my heat tool to shrink them.

I also created some more ATCs for my collection using the gorgeous Vintage Floral Art Cards printable along with the Word Stripz 1 Card and Craft Sentiments, all from my stash. I think I’ve mentioned that I have become an ATC addict, lol!

2020_0421028

I printed the floral art cards on Classic Linen Solar White cardstock and then cut them apart leaving a tiny bit of a white edge. I cut the ATC bases from 110# Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and ran a black marker around the edge of each. I cut eight one-word sentiments that I wanted to use from the sentiment sheet and ran a black marker around the edge of each of those as well. I adhered a sentiment to each floral panel and then a floral panel to each ATC base. Here are shots of each card:

2020_04210202020_04210212020_04210222020_04210232020_04210242020_04210252020_04210262020_0421027

I’m totally loving how these embellishments and ATCs turned out! Can’t wait to use the domes and buttons on some projects, and the ATCs look absolutely amazing in my collector’s notebook! And you guessed it… I’m probably not going to trade any of these ATCs either, lol! ;)

Just A Note vintage notelets (set of 8)

5/23/20 Top Rocker at 613 Avenue Create!
5/31/20 May Winner at The Outlawz Challenges!

Hi peeps! I didn’t want this day to get away from me before finishing the project I started several days ago for the The Outlawz Twisted Thursdays Challenge. This challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional twist and this time the twist is Vintage. Our sponsor this month is Vectoria Designs. I had their free botanical envelope digital printed and just needed to cut, ink and assemble. I was thinking outside the box a bit and used part of the envelope design to make matching notelets.

2020_0520001

To start with, I printed the envelope eight times on Hammermill 32# copy paper and created the envelopes themselves. I inked the edges and added Scor-Tape to the flaps. Then I created top-fold notelets from Twine cardstock and printed the envelope eight more times. I trimmed away all but the back of the envelope on each print to use as the front of the notelets. I adhered them to the notelet bases and inked the edges. I stamped the sentiment in archival ink and added one smoke-colored gemstone to the largest flower.

2020_0520002

I left the inside of each notelet completely blank so there’s plenty of room for a custom message.

2020_0520003

One more look… very happy with how these turned out! Love how they’re the perfect match for the envelopes!

dear FRIEND

5/23/20 Top Rocker at 613 Avenue Create!

Hello again! I just can’t stay away, lol! I’m still playing in The Outlawz Challenges… not sure how long this will last but I’m sure taking advantage of the spare minutes here and there that I have to play in my studio, lol! I created this card for the Monday Greetings Challenge where our sponsor is Jan’s Digi Stamps and we were challenged to use a button, lace and blue ribbon. I created a birthday card using a rubber stamp set called Rustic Flowers that Jan designed for Sparkle N Sprinkle a while back. Sparkle N Sprinkle is no longer in business so I linked to the digital set currently on Jan’s website which is very similar but does have a few more sentiments than the rubber stamp set I have.

2020_0519013

I cut the blue patterned background piece from one of my favorite 12×12 paper pads and then added the crocheted lace and blue/white gingham ribbon horizontally about two-thirds down. I stamped the image in black ink, colored it with Bic Mark-It markers, and cut it with a stitched mini scallop die. I adhered the image to the card front and added a small blue button tied with metallic silver thread. I stamped the image in blue archival ink and punched it with a 1″ punch. I layered it onto two more punched circles for a little dimension and nestled it into the bouquet.

2020_0519014

I stamped the inside sentiment in blue archival ink and layered the panel on the blue patterned paper used on the front.

2020_0519015

And one more look… such a beautiful image – and I love the button, lace and blue ribbon!

You are LOVED

Hi, friends! Hope you’re having an awesome Tuesday! I’ve popped in this evening to share a project I created yesterday afternoon for The Outlawz Challenges. This kitty-themed birthday card is for the new Crash Your Stash Challenge where Lee Holland Art is our sponsor and the challenge this month is to use Washi Tape. I think I can handle that… I have a ton of it and I love it!

But first… before I get to my project, let me side-track you for a minute to show you my most frequent light box visitor… our guy, Loki! I periodically take photos of him when he jumps into my light box so if you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ve seen him. If not, he’s the guy that appeared under our 85-year-old neighbor’s carport back in late October. He was tiny, crying and starving, and his little eyes were matted shut. Our neighbor called my husband and *poof – just like that* we had a new addition to our family and were headed to the vet. He’s grown in leaps and bounds – we think he’s about nine months old now – and is full of ‘spit and vinegar’ as my mother would have said, lol! ;)

2020_0519008a

Okay, now on to my project. I dug into my October Afternoon stash and grabbed a couple patterned papers, a memory card and a kitten sticker. Love these packs because everything coordinates. And I had a couple rolls of skinny pink Washi Tape that perfectly matched. ;)

2020_0519008b

The printed Washi Tape was a half scallop so I laid down two strips and then added the glitter Washi Tape on top so the little tiny scallops peeked out both sides.

2020_0519009a

I rounded all four corners of the card base and background patterned paper. I added  strips of coordinating paper along with the Washi Tape, and then adhered the memory card in the lower right corner. I added the kitten sticker and stamped some tiny paw prints in black ink in the corner.

2020_0519010

I embellished the inside panel with the floral paper used for the strips on the front, stamped the sentiment in pink ink, and layered the panel on light teal cardstock. I stamped a few more tiny paw prints in the right lower corner. The sentiment and paw prints are from a Frantic Stamper clear stamp set I recently got called ‘Cat Happiness’ and OMG, the sentiments in this set are fantastic!

2020_0519011

And one more peek… totally loving how this turned out! I sure am smitten with this kitten! ;)

Make Today Count

5/24/20 Rising Star at A Place To Start!

Hi everyone! Hope you’re having a great day! I’ve popped in this morning with an inspirational mixed media card I created with Stamplistic’s Forever stamp. Aside from the awesome stamped image, this card features yummy distress ink smooshing, heat embossing, water droplets and opaque ink splattering, and a homemade shimmer mist!

2020_0225001

I smooshed a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper several times in Ranger cracked pistachio, peacock feathers and mermaid lagoon distress inks spritzed with plain water in a mini mister, drying with a heat tool between smooshes. I stamped the image in Versamark and heat embossed it in white. Using an ink blending brush, I applied twisted citron distress ink lightly in a circular fashion over the entire image with the darkest concentration of ink in the center.

2020_0225002

I dribbled plain water from the distress sprayer over the entire piece and rolled a roll of paper towels over it to soak up the droplets. When that dried, I colored the long oval shapes in the image with a Spectrum Noir GT3 alcohol marker and then applied a homemade mist of white Perfect Pearls and Dr Ph. Martin’s blue india ink over the entire piece in a mini mister to give it some silky shine. Once that was dry, I wiped any residual ink from the embossing with a dry paper towel and then splattered Copic opaque white ink (slightly diluted with water) with a fan brush. When the piece was completely dry, I trimmed it, layered it on silver foil cardstock and again on dark green cardstock, and added a single tiny green gemstone to the center of the image. I adhered a Tim Holtz Quotations sticker to a couple layers of cardstock and adhered it to the bottom right of the image.

2020_0225003

I embellished the inside panel with leftover silver metallic paper and dark green cardstock used on the front, layered the panel on the dark green cardstock and added another Tim Holtz Quotations sticker.

2020_0225004

And one more peek… so loving how this turned out!

Happy Mother’s Day

5/26/20 Honorable Mention at CASology!

Hi everyone! It’s Fri-YAY – hope you have a wonderful weekend planned and you continue to stay safe and well! I’m playing in The Outlawz Challenges again and have popped in this morning to share a card that I’m entering into the Festive Fridays Challenge where our sponsor this month is Bugaboo Stamps. The themes to choose from are Christmas, Birthday, Mother’s Day and Sympathy, so this Mother’s Day card is perfect for this challenge!

2020_0508009

I won a Clearly Besotted gift card several weeks back and purchased several clear stamp sets, and this is one of them. First time using it and I love it! I stamped the image in black and then again in Versamark and then heat embossed in clear – a trick I learned years ago to give virtually any color of heat embossing! I colored the image with Nuvo alcohol markers, stamped the Mother’s Day sentiment and layered the panel on purple cardstock. I finished the front with some Crystal Drops.

2020_0508010

I kept the inside simple to go with the CAS design on the front – stamped the sentiment in black ink and layered the panel on the purple cardstock.

2020_0508011

One more peek… I absolutely love how this turned out!

celebrate

Howdy again, peeps! I’ve popped in with my last card to share today that I created for The Outlawz Challenges. This one is for the Tuesday Color Challenge where our sponsor this month is Sherry West Art. We were shown a graphic with some gorgeous warm color swatches and a photo, and challenged to use three of the five colors on our project with a twist of adding a flower or flowers. I think I nailed this one, lol!

I used four of the colors with a cluster of three stamped and layered flowers as my focal point. I wasn’t ‘feeling’ this card in the beginning and left my studio to do some other things around the house. When I went back to it a couple hours later, I saw it in a whole different light and it flourished! Sometimes you just have to walk away and re-visit later.

2020_0514013

I used one of my all-time favorite stamp sets with coordinating dies to create the flowers. I dug into my cardstock and found four colors that pretty closely match those in the graphic, using the first three colors for the flowers and the fourth color for the background. I die cut two of the ‘celebrate’ sentiments and layered the darker one beneath the lighter one. I added some cork tape across the bottom and finished the front with Crystal Drops.

2020_0514014

I embellished the inside panel with a strip of the darkest color cardstock used for the flowers and stamped the sentiment in the same color ink, and then layered the panel on the middle color cardstock used for the flowers.

2020_0514015

One more peek… loving how this turned out despite the difficulty I had initially. It really is a simple design!

it’s a boy

Hi everyone! I’M BAAAAACK… with another card I created for The Outlawz Challenges! This one is for the Sunday Songs & Rhymes Challenge and our sponsor this month is The Paper Nest Dolls. The part of the rhyme I focused on this time was the title “Teddy Bear’s Picnic” so I used the Elisabeth Bell ‘Teddy Bear’ digital image to create a baby boy card.

2020_0514005

I colored the image with Nuvo alcohol markers, cut it with a stitched mini scallop die and stamped the sentiment in green ink. I kept this hybrid design pretty simple and went with a green and yellow color combo, suitable for a little man. I DTP-inked the green dotted ‘resist’ paper which I paired with textured yellow cardstock. I punched several hearts from red cardstock and finished the front with some green Dot Sparklers.

2020_0514006

I embellished the inside panel with leftover paper and cardstock used on the front, as well as a punched heart, and stamped the sentiment in green ink.

You are Mer-mazing

Howdy, friends! This week is almost to the end… where is the time going?! I can’t believe we’re in the middle of May already! I’ve popped in with a card I created for The Outlawz Challenges. I have a couple more to share in a little while, so stay tuned! This cute hybrid thank you card is for the May Progressive Freebie Challenge. Our sponsor this month is Elena Zinski Art and we were provided the most adorable Amelia Mermaid digital image to create with. Have I mentioned that the perk for playing in this challenge each month is a free digital image?! ;)

Using the pre-colored version of this image, I kept with a blue color scheme which seemed perfect for a mermaid. I alternated teal and blue glitter Washi Tape across a blue digital paper background and then adhered it to the card base. I cut the image with a stitched rectangle die, adhered it to the front and stamped the sentiment beneath it in blue archival ink. I added Glossy Accents to her sunglasses and finished the front with sparkly blue bling.

I embellished the inside panel with a leftover piece of the blue digital paper used on the front and stamped the sentiment in the blue archival ink.

And one more peek… loving how this turned out! Isn’t she just the sassiest thing ever?!
