Thinking of you

Happy Wednesday, everybody! I hope you’re having a great week. I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a hexagon shaped card to send a little cheer. As you know, fun folds are my most favorite kind of cards to make, and next in line at the top of that list are shaped cards. They are so fun and really pack a punch. I used our Neenah Fluorescent White Cotton cardstock for the stenciled climbing rose panel. Next up are Pop Tone Tangy Orange and Pop Tone Jellybean Green. And, of course, I used my studio staple Neenah Classic Crest Solar White (110# and 80# weights) for my card base and inside panel. Oh, and there’s a tiny bit of our Glama Natural Translucent Vellum under that front sentiment. ;)

Using the Honey Bee Climbing Rose stencils and Ranger crackling campfire and peeled paint distress inks along with a couple blending brushes, I created the focal panel. I gotta tell you that the Neenah Fluorescent White Cotton cardstock is FABulous for inking. Next, I used the Sizzix Belinda Stitched Hexagons Fanciful Framelits to cut the card base and a layering panel from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White, the inside panel from 80# Solar White, a couple layering panels from Pop Tone Tangy Orange, and a couple layering panels from Pop Tone Jellybean Green.

Using the same hexagon die set, I die cut a stitched hexagon panel from the stenciled climbing rose piece. Then I trimmed a 1/8″ frame from the outside of the leftover negative space of the hexagon shape for a little interest. I adhered the extra Solar White panel to the front of the card base, and then one of the Tangy Orange panels to the back of the card base. I layered a Jellybean Green panel and the frame to the other orange panel, popping it up on foam strips.

Next, I stamped a sentiment from the Honey Bee Fall Swags stamp set in Memento Morocco ink on a scrap piece of Solar White. I cut it with the coordinating die and added it to a scrap of Glama Natural Translucent Vellum, trimming around the die cut and popping it up on a foam strip. The finishing touch was adding a few clear gemstones.

I embellished the 80# Solar White panel for the inside with a leftover piece of the stenciled climbing rose panel and a very thin strip of Jellybean Green cardstock. I stamped another sentiment from the Honey Bee Fall Swags stamp set in Morocco ink and layered the panel on the remaining green panel.

Happy Birthday

Hi friends, Happy Tuesday! I hope you’re having a great week. I’m delighted to share a Brutus Monroe inspiration project with you today as a new DT member! I’ve been a Brutus Monroe fan for a few years and you can only imagine how ecstatic I was to receive that email telling me I had been selected for the 2025 Inspiration Team! I used two of my all-time favorites, the Botanical Background Stamp and  Super Sentimental Stamp Set, to create this pretty birthday card. I included a gorgeous Lace Layers die cut under the focal panel to really show it off. I kept with a simple red/coral color palette and really love how this turned out!

I stamped the Botanical Background focal image in Raven ink on a Perfect Blend 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel and colored it with Copic Ciao markers. I trimmed it and layered it on a panel of CutCardStock Wild Salmon cardstock. I adhered a Lace Layers die cut (which I cut from Raven cardstock) beneath the panel and adhered it to the card base. I stamped a simple birthday greeting from the Super Sentimental Stamp Set, trimmed it, and adhered it to the bottom portion of the card front, slightly to the right of center. The finishing touch was adding several Hematite Flat Back Crystals.

I cut the inside panels from Perfect Blend cardstock and the Wild Salmon cardstock. I stamped another sentiment from the Super Sentimental Stamp Set and layered the panel on a slightly smaller die cut Lace Layer.

Scrappy hugs,

Yay! to your retirement

Hey everybody, Happy Friday! Only one more Friday to go, then this month is a bust! I’m delighted to share an Emily Moore Designs DT inspiration project with you today, created with a variety of products that you may notice I use a lot and have become fast favorites (wink-wink). This retirement card features the Confetti Layered Stencils, Yay! Layered Word Die, Graduation & Retirement stamp set, and Card Sentiment Dies. I also used Simon’s Gold Lunar Paste and a couple Scrapbook Adhesives products that Emily sells in her store. If you want to shop and you’re a new customer, remember to use my code LESLIE10 for 10% off your order! The tented easel card is one of my favorite fun folds because it’s so easy to make and sure packs a punch. So, I guess you could say this card is a win-win!

Before I get going, the measurements for this card are as follows:
1. Card base is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 4-1/4″ and 8-1/2″, making the folded card 4-1/4″ square.
2. Front layering panel is 4″ x 4″.
3. Bottom layering panel is 2-1/4″ x 4″.
4. White layering panel for the inside cut at 4″ x 4″.

I started by creating the background on a piece of CutCardStock Savoy Brilliant White Cotton cardstock affixed to my Ranger-Wendy Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion 7″ with the magnets. Then I gathered the Confetti Layered Stencils, three Memento inks, some blending brushes, and Simon Hurley Gold Rush Lunar Paste and a spatula. While the panel was drying, I cut the Yay! sentiment from CutCardStock Bright Gold Foil and Basis Dark Red cardstock and assembled it using Scrapbook Adhesives 4×6 adhesive sheet on the back of the layers.

I cut the card base and a few strips (of varying widths) from Basis Dark Red cardstock along with more strips from CutCardStock Lessebo White, Lessebo Brick Orange and Lessebo Sunflower Yellow, which I adhered in diagonal fashion on a piece of white copy paper (again with a Scrapbook Adhesives 4×6 adhesive sheet), trimmed to 2-1/4″ x 4″, and adhered it to the bottom of the card base. At this point, the stenciled background was dry, so I trimmed it to 4″ x 4″ and adhered it to the card base as well, along with the sentiment.

I stamped the congrats sentiment from the Graduation & Retirement Stamp Set in Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink on a scrap piece of Lessebo White, cut it with a die from the Card Sentiment Dies, and popped it up on American Crafts thick adhesive foam squares. In addition to adding another sentiment, this served as the stopper.

I cut the inside panel at 4″ x 4″ from Lessebo White cardstock and embellished it with a leftover strip cut from the stenciled panel on the front and a very thin strip of Basis Red cardstock. I stamped another sentiment from the Graduation & Retirement Stamp Set in Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink, and layered the panel on a piece of Bright Gold Foil cardstock.

Hey everybody! Happy Thursday – I hope you’re having a great week. I’m stoked to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you today created our new Back to Basics 6×9 Lime Collection Pack! OMGosh, I totally love this color. Green (in any variation) has been my all-time favorite color since I can remember, so I thoroughly enjoyed making this. I’ve created quite a few of this version of a triple fold over the years and decided to give this one a little ‘faux’ twist by adhering the second flap down to the card base, thus giving it the ‘faux’ look of a triple fold. I thought that added a little more fun to an already fun design. And of course, these die cuts from our Lucky Day Collection make it even more fun… along with my handmade pom-pom on his hat! ;)

I cut the 5-1/2″ x 11″ card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock and scored it at 1-3/4″, 5-1/2″ and 9-3/4″ on the lone side. I folded the base in half and then folded the two remaining score lines toward the left. Working from left to right, I cut a 3-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ panel from a plaid print in the Lucky Day 6×9 Collection Pack and adhered it to the left side. Next, I cut a 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ panel from a floral print and adhered it to the second flap, and then adhered that flap down to the card base with thin adhesive foam squares.

Finally, I cut a 1″ x 5-1/4″ panel from a dotted print and adhered it to the right-hand flap. I added two disc magnets to keep the card closed, and with the card closed, I embellished the front with an assortment of die cut pieces from the Lucky Day Collection. I made a pom-pom from white yarn using a thin skewer and adhered it to the top of his hat. The final step was adding several Back To Basics Lime Enamel Dots.

I cut the 4″ x 5-1/4″ inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a leftover strip of the floral paper used on the front. I added a sentiment and a tiny gnome, also from the die cut pieces, and layered the panel on another print from the Lucky Day Collection.

Scrappy hugs,

Sending Smiles

Hey everybody! Well, we’re a little more than half-way through the month and I hope you are seeing some warmer weather where you are. Although I love Winter and the snow, I’m waiting patiently (or not) for Spring, lol! I’m up on the Scrapbook Pal blog today sharing a tutorial for making a friendship card with a dimensional frame that features the Pinkfresh Studio Cheerful Blossoms Stamps, Stencils and Dies. I immediately fell in love with these products because – besides being florals (and who doesn’t love florals) – there are SO many occasions to use them for!

I stamped and inked the florals from the Pinkfresh Studio Cheerful Blossoms stamps on a panel of Neenah Fluorescent White Cotton cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used the coordinating stencils along with peeled paint, crackling campfire, peacock feathers, fossilized amber, and vintage photo distress oxide inks. After inking, I re-stamped the florals in Versafine Onyx Black ink to darken up the outlines a bit, and then cut them apart with the coordinating dies.

I added a dimensional frame and then a stamped sentiment from the Altenew Dynamic Duo Blooming Branch Outline Stamps. I arranged all the inked florals and added a clear gemstone to the center of each flower for a little bling. Gotta have some bling! ;)

I added another inked floral and sentiment (from the same Altenew stamp set) on the inside, which completed the card.

Scrappy hugs,

Friend

Hey everybody, a big ol’ Happy Saturday to you! I’m stoked to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you today which features our new KIS Art Stencils – Raindrops that I paired with our Bizzy Hands Turtle Gnome stamp set. The stencils are pretty amazing and don’t have to be used for actual raindrops (although they certainly can be). I created a background panel for my ‘phe-Gnome-enol’ Friend card using a few green distress inks. Green is my all-time favorite color and I really enjoyed making this card!

I cut a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of CutCardStock Savoy Bright White Cotton cardstock and placed it on a MISTI Sticky Mat on my Ranger-Wendy Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion 12″. I gathered the KIS Art Stencils – Raindrops, blending brushes, and Catherine Pooler Melon Ice, Garden Party and Lime Rickey inks, and stenciled the background. I cut the panel with a Back To Basics Stitched Rectangles Nested Dies and then cut another panel from CutCardStock Glama Natural Clear Translucent Vellum using the same die. Vellum is a great way to tone down a busy background without actually obscuring any of the design.

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Cougar Smooth 100# White cardstock. I stamped the gnome image on Cougar Smooth 80# White cardstock, colored it with alcohol markers, and fussy cut it with my Spellbinders Detail Scissors. I sure love those scissors! I stamped the sentiment in Memento Bamboo Leaves ink, trimmed it and popped it up on foam pads. The finishing touch was adding a few Back To Basics Jade Enamel Dots.

I cut the inside panel from Cougar Smooth White cardstock with a Back To Basics Stitched Rectangles Nested Die and layered it on CutCardStock Pop Tone Jellybean Green cardstock. I stamped a sentiment in Memento Bamboo Leaves ink, which completed the card.

Scrappy hugs,

Do small things with great love

Hey everybody, Happy Valentine’s Day! Do you have someone special that you’re spending the day with?! Ed and I are home on this fine Friday doing our own thing. It’s awesome that we have our own hobbies so we stay out of each other’s hair, lol! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a gorgeous floral friendship card. This card is 5-1/4″ square and only uses three kinds of cardstock. I used Neenah Classic Crest Solar White in 110# and 80# weights along with our Beetle Black Canvas Textured cardstock which I absolutely love.

I cut the 5-1/4″ square card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White along with layering panels from 80# Solar White and Beetle Black Canvas Textured cardstock. I stamped the large image from the Honey Bee Beautiful Blooms stamp set on the lighter weight white panel, colored it with alcohol markers, and set it aside. Using a die in the Sizzix Yvette Interlaced Squares Framelits set, I dry embossed a pretty interlaced outline on the front flap of the card base. I layered the image on the black cardstock layer and added a stamped sentiment (from the same Honey Bee stamp set, stamped in black ink) which I cut with the coordinating die and popped up on adhesive foam squares. I adhered the image panel to the card front, popped up on black adhesive foam strips.

I dry embossed the interlaced outline on the inside panel as well, and added a stamped sentiment and greenery (from the same Honey Bee stamp set) which I cut with the coordinating dies. I layered the panel on the Beetle Black cardstock, which completed the card.

Hey everybody! Happy Thursday – I hope you’re having a great week! I’m delighted to share a Scrapbook Pal DT inspiration project with you today. This new year card features the super fun Catherine Pooler Home Tweet Home Dies, Hero Arts Joyful Christmas Messages Hero Transfers, and the Spellbinders 3-in-1 Notched Corners Punch. Seems lately I’m enamored with birds and have made several bird-themed cards over the past couple months. These Home Tweet Home Dies are so much fun and I love how this card turned out. I like to ‘think outside the box’ occasionally, and even though the Hero Transfers are Christmas-themed, a couple of the sentiments worked really well for this new year card.

I cut a standard A2 size side-folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock along with front and inside layering panels from 80# Solar White. Next, I cut front and inside layering panels and some embellishing strips from CutCardStock Lessebo Brick Orange cardstock. I punched all four corners of the card base and layering panels with the Spellbinders 3-in-1 Notched Corners Punch. I adhered a horizontal strip to ground the birdhouses and then added sentiments from the Hero Arts Joyful Christmas Messages Hero Transfers below the strip.

Using the Catherine Pooler Home Tweet Home Dies, I cut the birdhouse pieces in a variety of colors from the CutCardStock Lessebo line, and then assembled three houses. I added some random whimsical details with a Copic Ciao 100 Black alcohol marker and then affixed a bird brad to each house. The finishing touch was adding a few clear gemstones.

I assembled the inside panel and added an additional sentiment from the Hero Transfers.

Fancy Cut Hello

Hey everybody! Another Wednesday has rolled around and I hope you’re having a good week! Has it warmed up any where you are? We’re in SW Colorado and have been seeing temps in the 40s and 50s, so that’s definitely a positive vibe! I’m up on the Love From Lizi blog today with a tutorial for making a collar fold card featuring our Just Because stamp set. I also used a variety of papers, an oval cutting die, and some peel-offs. This isn’t a fun fold like I typically share, but it features a fancy cut that really packs a punch!

I cut the card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar white cardstock along with layering panels from papers in the Love From Lizi Winter Warmers 6×6 Patterned Paper Pack, Matte Mirror Pastel Specialty Cardstock Bundle and Moondust Specialty Cardstock Bundle. Be sure to see my tutorial on the Love From Lizi blog for the assembly.

I stamped the flowers and vase image from the Just Because stamp set on 80# Solar White and again on a pink paper in the Winter Warmers paper pack. I colored just the blooms and greenery with alcohol markers on the white cardstock and then fussy cut the full image. I then colored just the vase on the pink paper, fussy cut it, and paper pieced it onto the full image which I then adhered to the card front on foam strips.

I stamped the sentiment on a pink checkered print in the Winter Warmers paper pack and cut it with a Stitched Oval Nested Cutting Die, then adhered it to the center of the fancy cut area. The final step was adding a few green circle peel-offs from the Indigoletta peel-off variety pack to the center of several blooms on the patterned paper.

I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with leftover strips of the floral and teal foil papers used on the front. I stamped a sentiment from the Just Because stamp set in black ink, which completed the card.

Scrappy hugs,

Thank You Snow Much

Hey everybody, Happy Friday! It seems like the weeks are flying by this year just as quickly as last year, lol! I’m up on the Emily Moore Designs blog today with a DT inspiration project featuring our Ornament Gift Card Holder Die. We always need cards to thank those who sent Christmas gifts, and this die is perfect! This shaped card opens at the top and has a foiled panel adhered to the front where a gift card would go. When the card is opened, the gift card is on the inside covering a sentiment/signature panel. How fun to give a gift for receiving a gift, although this design could be made with or without a gift card. So stinkin’ cute!

I created a top-folding card base from Solar White cardstock using the Ornament Gift Card Holder Die. This is easy to do with just about any die by making sure it’s positioned slightly over the fold in the cardstock so the cardstock is not cut entirely in two. I cut the front and inside panels from Hot Off The Press Snowfall double-sided papers and adhered them to the card base. I cut the ornament top from CutCardStock Silver Glitter cardstock and colored it with a BT5 alcohol marker to match the patterned paper.

I ran a Pajama Crafter Stamps Chillin’ Flashcard through my Scotch Laminator with a piece of Therm O Web Deco Foil Glass Slipper foil and trimmed it the size of a gift card. I added a tiny clear gemstone colored with a BT5 alcohol marker and adhered the flashcard to the card front in the spot where a gift card would go. I die cut a loop and charm from CutCardStock Bright Silver Foil cardstock and embellished it with a tiny clear gemstone also colored with the BT5 alcohol marker.

For the inside, I cut a signature panel slightly smaller than the size of a gift card and adhered it in the center where it would be hidden beneath the gift card. I added a sentiment cut out from the Snowfall paper pack, which completed the project.
