‘Enjoy the little things’ matchbook

Hi everybody! Hope you’re having a great day! We’ve had medical appointments yesterday and today, out of town both days, so I finally have a spare few minutes this evening to post my newest matchbook! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I believe I mentioned how addictive these little matchbooks are, lol! They are so fun! I’ve mailed the first two out and have someone in mind for this one so thought I might better get my post done. And I didn’t forget to include the itty bitty envelope with this one! ;)

I cut the base from CutCardStock Basis Gray cardstock and used Stardream Metallic Silver cardstock for the window trim on both sides. I used coordinating patterned papers from Polly’s Paper Studio for the wallpaper and rug. I stamped all the elements on Neenah Classic Crest Baronial Ivory cardstock, colored them with alcohol markers and cut them with the coordinating dies. There’s even a mirror on the wall above the fireplace that has a silver foil cardstock ‘mirror.’

Here are shots going around the outside.

And one more peek… these matchbooks are so stinkin’ cute I can’t stand it! I have one more to play with, the Kitchen Set, so stay tuned! I’ve only seen four sets and I bought all four, so if Bonnie Krebs designs any more of them for Ai, I’ll definitely add them to my collection! She’s one talented gal!

Birthday Quad Fold

Hi friends! Happy Saturday – I hope you have something fun planned this weekend and you’re having some great weather! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #49 – Anything Goes + Layering! We are a technique challenge blog and all of our challenges are ‘anything goes’ and we offer a different technique twist each month to inspire you! Our twist this month is layering (three or more layers) which is easy for most of us, lol! I have a cool project to share this month with lots of layers – which I’m calling a quad fold card. My inspiration came from the Stempeleinmaleins blog but I can’t find the specific post again. It’s a German blog with tons of great resources and they may have called this fold something different than what I’m calling it. If I end up finding it, I’ll update this post.

I created the card base from kraft cardstock and covered the panels with coordinating papers. I stamped an assortment of images on Neenah Classic Crest Baronial Ivory cardstock in brown and teal inks, cut them with oval and scalloped oval dies, layered them and adhered them to the panels. A couple of them required a small amount of coloring which I did with alcohol markers and I added some Crystal Drops to a couple of them. I added a velcro closure under the scalloped oval element on the front to keep it closed.

And one more peek at the front and one of the back… so loving how this turned out! Definitely a unique fold!

Tea ‘thank you’

Happy Saturday, friends! Hope you have a great weekend planned! A new challenge is live this morning over at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #145 – Anything Goes Challenge! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I created a double gate fold ‘thank you’ card sample using some Prickley Pear Stamps tea-themed stamps and dies along with some pretty double-sided paper from my stash! You know how I love fun folds, and this one is so awesome!

I stamped the to-go tea cup on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, colored it with alcohol markers and cut it with the coordinating die. I adhered it to a stitched mini scallop die cut also cut from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock which I layered on a stitched circle cut from emerald green cardstock. I chose double-sided paper that wasn’t too ‘busy’ for the folded card base, and adhered the focal image. I embellished the inside panel with a paper strip and a sentiment cut from the emerald green cardstock, and stamped some coordinating tea leaves in the bottom right corner.

And one more peek… I really love this fold and I’m sure you’ll be seeing it again (and again)!

You’re Simply Wonderful

5/31/21 DT Favorite Winner at Classic Design Challenge Blog!

Hi everyone! I hope your weekend is off to a great start! Loving life here with great weather and lots of studio time! It’s time for a new challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration for LTCCB #58 – May Anything Goes! I created a waterfall card – my first-ever waterfall card – and if you know me, you know that I’m a fun fold geek! I’ve had these instructions in my tutorial folder for quite some time and don’t exactly know why I haven’t made one yet… I thoroughly enjoyed making this!

I stamped the background in green using a pretty floral stamp set and layered the panel on black cardstock. I stamped a sentiment at the top of the panel in black ink. I applied transfer foil to a cardstock scrap to use for the centers of the flowers and OMG this is some fun stuff! I die cut ten flower centers from the foiled cardstock and adhered one to each of the flowers on the background. I then stamped the four waterfall panels with the same stamp set but in different colors, and layered those panels on black cardstock. I adhered the remaining gold foiled flower centers to the panels. I stamped the vertical strip across the pull mechanism in green and layered it on black cardstock as well, and adhered it to the base panel with green Scrapbook Nails.

I stamped a simple ‘thanks’ sentiment on the back, leaving plenty of room for a handwritten note and signature.

And one more peek… so happy with how this turned out! I see more of these in my future, lol!

Here’s a little video showing how this fun fold works!

‘Cut out to be friends’ matchbook

Hi everybody! I hope you are having a fantastic week! Man, they are flying by! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I’ve popped in this morning with another fun little matchbook – I used the Craft Room set this time! So fun! When I finished the 20 commissioned Mother’s Day cards (I still have several to share, by the way), I moved on to nine samples for Prickley Pear Stamps which I finished yesterday and photographed with my new Canon Rebel T7. You’ll see those a little later on. I’ve had the Canon for a little over a week and finally got brave enough to try it out… and wow, talk about A LOT for this old brain to comprehend!

This matchbook was probably the last project destined to be photographed with the old DSLR camera that I was totally comfortable with and knew like the back of my hand. I’m sad it has to be replaced but life goes on. I’m actually looking forward to making a few changes going forward – I’m still using the tripod but have discontinued the lightbox. I typically shoot four pics of each card and I’m cutting down to three. And I’m considering cutting down the narratives on my projects as well, with the goal of shorter posts since I seem to have less time these days. I work way ahead so you’ll still be seeing some longer posts with more photos that have been scheduled for a while. Okay, back to the matchbook!

I cut the base from CutCardStock Basis Aqua cardstock and used CutCardStock Basis Teal cardstock for the window trim on both sides and the rug. I stamped all the elements on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, colored them with alcohol markers and cut them with the coordinating dies.

Here are shots going around the outside and a shot of the itty bitty envelope. ;)

And one more look… I can’t get over the detail on these – loving the die cut machine on the cabinet and the paper cutter on the bottom shelf, lol! On to the Den Set next, so stay tuned! ;)

Mother’s Day Flowers

Hi friends! I hope you’re having a beautiful weekend! Our weather is getting better by the day, and the hubs has started planting fruit and veggies in the garden! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I’ve popped in this evening to share a super cute Mother’s Day card. I’ve been commissioned to make quite a few Mother’s Day cards so you’ll be seeing them mixed in with my design team projects over the next couple weeks. ;) I knew the Honey Bee Stamps Flower Pot Card die set would be perfect so I made several of these this afternoon!

I dug into my Papertrey Ink cardstock stash and used Canyon Clay and Pure Poppy for the flower pot, along with scraps of Prairie Grass, Bright Buttercup, Orange Zest, Tropical Teal, Raspberry Fizz, New Leaf, and Vintage Jadeite cardstock for the flowers and leaves. I stamped the sentiment in black ink on the front of the flower pot prior to assembling it, and once assembled, I embellished it with small clear gemstones.

I cut the pull-out card from Papertrey Ink Summer Sunrise cardstock and adhered a panel of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock to it and stamped the simple sentiment in black ink.

And one more peek… so loving how this turned out! I’ve only used this die set once before and made these flowers a bit different. Love all the color! ;)

Traveler’s Notebook

Hi everybody! Oh, Happy Day! I hope you’re having a good one! I’m back this morning with another fun post… my first Traveler’s Notebook! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun I had with this! I’ve been seeing these notebooks in various forms around the web for a good while now so I decided to try my hand at making one. I’ve actually had the notebook and inserts with tags done for a couple months, and finally added die cuts for photos and journaling yesterday, so now it’s complete and ready to mail. ;)

Here’s a huge shout-out to Doodlebug Design for making the most awesome 6×6 patterned paper EVER – all of the patterned papers are from various Rainbow Petite Prints paper pads plus another one of theirs that I’ve had in my stash for many years. I used Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock for all 13 of the white tags slid into the pockets. There is a pocket inside the front cover, and there are three tri-fold inserts that each contain four pockets each with white tags and little doo-dad pulls at the top of each one. And here’s another huge shout-out to STAMPlorations for making some pretty awesome dies in their CUTplorations line that I used for die cuts on a number of the pages for photos and journaling. I used a Cottage Cutz die to create some double-stitched oval die cuts on a few of the pages as well (these are some more of my favorites). The cover is laminated and has an elastic cord to hold it closed. This was definitely a labor of love and I have plans to make a few more.

This was a booger to photograph… what with the problems I’m having with my old camera, the slick laminated cover sliding around (and casting a shine), and pages that would not open completely without holding them… so I did the best I could, lol!

And last but not least, here’s a flip-through. ;)

‘Make a little wish’ matchbook

5/2/21 Top 5 at Lil Patch of Crafty Friends Challenge Blog!

Hi friends! Hope your week is starting off great! Mine started with a doctor appointment… new insurance January 1st means a new primary care provider and I only put it off four months, lol! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I’ve popped in this evening with a fun birthday matchbook I created for a birthday coming up soon. Squeal – I’m HOOKED on matchbooks! OMG, they are so tiny and so stinkin’ fun!

I cut the base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and used a primarily-purple color scheme, with purple polka-dot paper on the base, and I cut the window frame, rug and sentiment panel from CutCardStock Basis Dark Purple cardstock. This was the first one I made and I learned a few tricks along the way for the next ones, lol!

I stamped all the elements on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, colored them with alcohol markers and cut them with the coordinating dies. So sorry about these close-ups. My camera is on it’s way out. It’s eight years old and doesn’t seem to hold settings anymore. Macro and super macro are blurry, no white balance (which is a nightmare in the light box), it literally gobbles up batteries in two or three uses so I have to keep it hardwired all the time, it no longer reads SanDisks so I have to connect it directly to the laptop with a USB cable to upload my pics… I could go on and on. I guess after eight years I’ve gotten my money’s worth. So my new Canon Rebel T7 shipped out today and I will hopefully have it in a few days. I can’t wait… :P

Here are shots going around the outside of the matchbook and with the little envelope. ;)

And one more peek… I can’t stand it! I’ve been looking at these sets for the past few months and finally gave in! So stayed tuned for a few more, lol! I treated myself to the birthday, den, kitchen and craft room sets! “Warning: Matchbooks are addictive!” ;)

Happy Easter

4/30/21 Top 3 at Crafty Calendar Challenge!

Happy Friday, friends! Well, another week is in the books… they sure are flying by! ZOOM! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you – I really appreciate your support! I’ve popped in this morning with a fun fold that I found on Pinterest last week, so of course I had to make one! I finished it last week (before Easter) but haven’t had a chance to post it until this morning. It’s a diamond easel card that I created for The Outlawz April Freebie/Progressive Challenge! Our sponsor this month is Bugaboo Stamps so be sure to come on over and play for your chance to win a prize! We were gifted the adorable Bugaboo Brats Easter digital image which made the sweetest card, and I had the best time picking out coordinating patterned papers for it!

I found many versions of this card on Pinterest and it wasn’t too difficult to figure out how it was constructed. I created the card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110# cardstock. I printed the pre-colored version of the Bugaboo image on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock and cut the image in a diamond shape, equal on all four sides. I layered the image on CutCardStock Pop-Tone Razzleberry cardstock and set it aside. I pulled out several Doodlebug Design 6×6 paper pads and found four coordinating prints. I cut the diamond shape for the bottom (same size as the image) from plaid paper and layered it on CutCardStock Pop-Tone Razzleberry cardstock as well. Measuring from the sides to the middle, I cut an additional square from plaid paper and sliced it in half diagonally to fit the triangular spaces. I adhered yellow dotted paper to the front and back rectangular spaces.

I stamped Happy Easter at an angle on the panel before adhering it to the card base. The sentiment on the base was computer-generated, cut with a stitched rectangle die and layered on a stitched mini scallop rectangle die. I popped it up on two layers of foam cut with the same stitched mini scallop rectangle die to use as the ‘stopper’.

Here’s a side view so you can see the basic easel card construction. The only difference is the pointed ends.

And one more look… folded flat for mailing. I’m so happy with how this turned out – it looks way more complicated than it is! This one turned out to be about 4-1/2″ square so I’m going to play with my measurements a little and come up with a standard A2 size, so stay tuned!

Christmas Gift Card Holder

Hi friends! Well, the first quarter of 2021 is history as they say! Wow! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our new challenge launched this morning over at Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for MLCCB #33 – April Anything Christmas Goes! I have an adorable Christmas gift card holder to share today, created with the Prickley Pear Stamps Build A Cat stamps and dies. OMG, can you say a-DOR-able?! I love playing with these cat stamps and dies!

This gift card holder is one of my most favorite fun folds because it’s so versatile and can be used for any occasion that you could possibly think of! In addition to a gift card, you could tuck cash or handmade coupons or whatever you want in this – think outside the box!

I used a Christmas patterned paper which I paired with red textured cardstock to embellish the Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock base. I stamped a sentiment for the inside, trimmed it and layered it on red cardstock. I stamped the cat in black ink on a white cardstock scrap, colored him with alcohol markers and cut him with the coordinating dies. I cut a stitched mini scallop circle on which I adhered the cat to use as the front closure.

And one more look… love, love, love this! This fold is probably one of the most-used in my tutorial arsenal!
