Sending Hugs Across the Miles

2/8/21 Rising Star at A Place To Start!
2/8/21 Top Pick at Jan’s Digi Stamps Challenges!

Hi everyone! A big Happy Friday to you! I hope you have something fun planned for this weekend! I’m sitting here chuckling while I’m posting another front step card fold… one yesterday and one today! Well, who am I kidding?! I LOVE this fold and it has quickly become my ‘go-to’ fun fold since discovering it last summer! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! This card is for The Outlawz January Freebie/Progressive Challenge where Jan’s Digi Stamps is our sponsor this month! Those of us who regularly play in this challenge were gifted the gorgeous Fall PEAR-fection digital image along with a sentiment that I used on the back of my card which I paired with a stamped sentiment on the front.

Pink and green is one of my all-time favorite color combos. I branched out a bit this time and went with a salmon-pink card base and green paper layers – and I love it! I printed the image on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, colored it with alcohol markers, cut it with a stitched oval die and layered it on a slightly larger stitched oval die cut. I stamped the sentiment across the top in dark green ink and added some salmon-pink Sprinkles in the corners.

For the back panel, I printed the sentiment on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, trimmed it and added strips of green paper and salmon cardstock across the top.

And one more peek… I’m sure you can see why this fold is one of my favorites! It’s different, it’s versatile and I love that it folds flat for mailing!

Believe

1/31/21 DT Favorite Winner at Classic Design Challenge Blog!

Hi everyone! I hope your first week of the New Year has been a good one! I’m absolutely thrilled to share that I’m once again guesting for Scrapping4fun Challenges! One of my projects was a Featured Creation last month and I was offered a guest design spot in Challenge #183 – Anything Goes, so here I am! Polkadoodles is our sponsor for this challenge and I have lots of their digital products in my stash, so I dug into the Winnie White Christmas Big Kahuna Download Kit for the image and papers I wanted to use for this front step card which is one of my favorite fun folds!

I created the card base from Papertrey Ink Simply Chartreuse cardstock. I printed three coordinating Polkadoodles digital papers, a round element, two merged pre-colored images and two sentiments on HP 32# copy paper and trimmed them. I layered the focal image on gold foil cardstock and set it aside. I adhered panels cut from the three digital papers to the card base and then adhered the focal image and a layered sentiment to the front along with three 8mm green cut jewels across the bottom.

I embellished the back panel with a leftover strip of the plaid paper and the round element that I punched with a 1-1/4″ circle punch, and layered the panel on the plain green paper.

And one more look… totally loving this fold! It’s easy to adjust the measurements if necessary (I made this one a little taller to accommodate the focal image) and it folds flat for mailing!

Happy mother’s day

2/8/21 Rising Star at A Place To Start!

Howdy, friends! I hope your week is going great – tomorrow is Friday already and we are a week into January! Time is flying by! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I’ve popped in to share a hybrid Mother’s Day card that I’m entering in The Outlawz Festive Fridays Challenge that ends this evening. Our sponsor is Fred She Said, and participants have the option to choose from New Year, Christmas, Thinking of You and Anything Goes themes – and I chose Anything Goes. I was in my studio all day and I think I set an all-time record… ten cards made in one day. I finished two that I started earlier in the week and then made eight more. I woke up with ideas running through my head so I knew it was going to be a productive day, lol!

I used a Create-A-Card die set to cut the card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, then cut layers from red cardstock with the next smaller size die. I printed the focal image for the front and a single flower image for the inside on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, and cut them with the next smaller size layering die. I stamped the front sentiment in black ink on a scrap of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, trimmed it, and layered it on two additional pieces of cardstock for a little dimension. I adhered the panels together and then adhered them to the front of the card base, and then added some Crystal Drops.

I stamped the inside sentiment (from the same stamp set) in black ink on the Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock panel, adhered it to the Tomato Soup panel, and adhered them to the inside of the card base.

And one more look… totally loving how this turned out! I really do like the look of a shaped card!

1/15/21 Top 3 Winner at Alphabet Challenge Blog!

Howdy, friends! A very Happy Saturday to you! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I’m happy to be back on the Eyelet Outlet blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! I created a masculine card featuring some of the coolest brads I’ve ever seen paired with black enamel dots! Masculine made easy! ;)

I created a standard A2 size top-folding cardstock from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. I lightened a photo of a United States map I had on my laptop, printed it on 60# Hammermill copy paper and trimmed it down to use as the background for my card. I created a highway using a punch for the center lines and adhered it at an angle across the map. I stamped the sentiment in black ink, added three Motorcycle Brads and three Black Enamel Dots, and layered the panel on black cardstock. That’s it… it was THAT easy! ;)

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and adhered a strip of the map and black cardstock down the left side, stamped the sentiment in black ink, and layered the panel on black cardstock.

And one more look… what a fun card! If you’re a fellow biker, you know we ride in groups! ;)

be authentic

Hi friends! Happy Friday and Happy New Year! I hope you’ve had a most awesome week! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #45- Anything Goes + Bleaching! I created an inspirational card using the bleaching technique along with heat embossing. Come on and play with us – don’t be afraid of using bleach on your project… it’s fun!

Leslie

This is the third or fourth card I’ve created over the years featuring this awesome stamp and the bleaching technique. My inspiration always comes from a past project from seven or eight years ago when I hosted my first challenge while on the Blockheads Paper Arts design team. Blockheads is sadly out of business now, but my challenge featured the bleaching technique and I did a stepped-out tutorial on the blog. One wouldn’t ordinarily think of using bleach on a craft project, but when carefully used on dark cardstock, the results will amaze you! I went with a black card base here because I thought the shimmer papers would look awesome against the black.

2019_122906a

I stamped the moth in Versamark and heat embossed it in black. Using a Fantastix brush point tip applicator, I very carefully ‘bleached’ all the parts of the moth inside the embossed areas. I let it air dry (which didn’t take very long) and then colored the moth with water-based markers and Clear Star shimmer pen. I cut the image with a stitched oval die and layered it onto three dotted rectangle die cuts in graduating sizes. I added black gemstones and a Tim Holtz sentiment sticker.

2019_122907a

I embellished the inside panel with some leftover cardstock strips and added another sentiment sticker.

And here’s another peek… really loving how this turned out!

1/14/21 Spotlight Winner at Cardz 4 Galz!

Hi everyone! A very Happy New Year to you! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our first challenge of the year is live over at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m stoked to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #141 – Anything Goes! Starting the year off with a bang with a fun fold! Yep, that’s how I roll, lol! You know I love me some fun folds! This is a triple cube card that’s 4″ x 6″ and folds flat for mailing. I found this one on Pinterest this past summer and unfortunately don’t know who to credit, but they sure took the craft world by storm! Lots of fun!

I created this card for our newest grandson whose nursery theme is astronauts and space, so these sweet Bugaboo digital images were just the ticket! I printed them on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, colored them with alcohol markers and then die cut them with stitched dies. They were adhered to stitched square die cuts on each surface of the boxes. I also used one of Lozzy’s Star Splash Mixed Media digital papers for some extra-terrestrial goodness! ;)

Here are shots of the back. The one I found on Pinterest had a plain back so I gave this one my twist with another martian die cut, stamped sentiment, punched hearts and a Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock block for signing.

And one more look… folded flat for mailing. Totally loving how this turned out! So stinkin’ cute!

You’re a classic!

Hi friends! Happy Friday and Happy New Year! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our challenge is live this morning over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #54 – January Anything Goes! I was commissioned to make some Father’s Day cards and I used some very cool digital vintage vehicle images and papers for these clean and simple designs.

I made one card in landscape orientation and the other in portrait orientation, using brown and ivory for one, and CutCardStock Basis Green cardstock and ivory for the other. I printed the images on linen cardstock, cut them with stitched rectangle dies and adhered them to coordinating cardstock. I printed the digital paper on linen cardstock as well, and trimmed pieces to go across the bottom of the card fronts.

The digital sentiments on the front and inside are the same on each card, printed on smooth ivory cardstock. I embellished each inside panel with the gingham paper used on the front, adhered the panels to coordinating cardstock and adhered them to the inside of the card bases.

And one more look at each… loving how these turned out!

Merry Christmas

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you’ve had a fabulous week! It’s the first of the month and you know what that means – lots of posts – so stay tuned! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for MLCCB #30 – January Anything Christmas Goes! I created a pretty pop-up music-themed Christmas card! I’ve seen a ton of piano cards on Pinterest and I really liked the concept so I designed my own version. My first card on the books for this year’s Christmas card stash! I know what you’re thinking… and there’s no such thing as ‘too early’ lol!

I cut 11 white piano keys from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and eight narrow black piano keys from American Crafts black cardstock for each piano top (one for the front and one for the inside) and assembled them. For definition, I ran a black marker around each white piano key before adhering. I die cut and assembled the poinsettia. I have to say that I’ve had the best time with this poinsettia die set… I’ve created several cards with it and it’s definitely one of my favorites! I adhered a panel of sheet music to red cardstock to use on the front. For the final step, I heat embosssed the Merry Christmas sentiment in white on red cardstock, and adhered it to the top of the piano top with dimensional foam tape. I then adhered all the elements to the front of the card base.

I stamped the inside sentiment in red ink and then adhered the pop-up mechanism cut from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock to the center of the inside of the card base. I then adhered the piano top to the pop-up mechanism. I included an angled shot below so you can see how easy the construction is – very basic.

And here’s one more peek… I’m absolutely smitten with how this turned out! One of my favorite ever cards!

You Are In My Prayers

Hello again, peeps! Well, I thought I was finished posting for the year but decided to create one more card this afternoon to enter into The Outlawz Festive Fridays Challenge! Our sponsor is Fred She Said, and participants have the option to choose from New Year, Christmas, Thinking of You and Anything Goes themes – and I chose the Thinking of You theme this time. I created a triple cube fun fold with an inspirational feel that I thought would be a good ending to 2020. I love me some fun folds and this is actually the second one of these I’ve made – you’ll see the first one on January 1st!

Despite it’s looks, this really is a super easy card to create. I reached for some double-sided papers in teals with a floral pattern on one side and stripes on the other which I paired with light and dark teal cardstock. I added an iridescent gemstone to the center of each flower on the panels for a little interest.

COVID came to mind while I was creating this card so I chose this sentiment that would be appropriate for someone who isn’t feeling well or is dealing with a sick family member or dear friend, or for someone who has lost a family member or friend. It has been a horrible year and I really hope 2021 is a better one for everybody.

And one more peek… flattened out and ready to put into an envelope. I love that this folds flat for mailing!

Congrats!

Happy Hump Day, friends! I’m stoked to be back on the CutCardStock blog today with an awesome DT inspiration project featuring more of the Stardream Metallic cardstock that was included in our Designer’s Pack – which happens to be on sale this month so be sure to get some! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I created a pretty ‘all occasion’ congrats card that would be great for just about any occasion calling for a congratulations!

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from Classic Crest Solar White 110# cardstock along with an inside layering panel and a stitched scallop yoke from Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock. Then I cut a front layering panel, a medium stitched flag die cut and a 1/4″ embellishing strip for the inside from Stardream Metallic Silver 105# cardstock. And finally I cut a large stitched flag die cut, a congrats die cut, an inside layering panel and a 1/8″ embellishing strip from Stardream Metallic Sapphire 105# cardstock. I adhered the stitched scallop yoke to the top of the silver front layering panel, leaving the bottom center of the yoke free of adhesive. I adhered the medium silver stitched flag to the large blue stitched flag, applied adhesive to the back side of the flags and slid them underneath the very bottom edge of the yoke. I adhered the congrats die cut to the flags and then embellished the yoke with three iridescent gemstones. I’m calling this a yoke because it reminds me of a yoke on a child’s dress. Did you or any of your kids ever have those dresses with the ruffled yokes at the top?!

I embellished the inside panel with the strips of silver and blue cardstock, stamped the sentiment in blue ink and then layered the panel on the blue cardstock.

And one more look… love having cards in my stash that can be used for more than one occasion!
