It’s a Pirate Party

Hi friends, happy Fri-YAY! Every day is like Friday when you’re retired! I’m delighted to share a Brutus Monroe DT inspiration project today featuring stamped, embossed and die cut images and sentiments from our Pirate Party Stamp and Die Bundle. The illusion of sea water was achieved by spritzing panels of Perfect Blend Cardstock with Tinsel Blue, Peacock and Wheat Chroma Mists which I combined with panels cut from Not Your Mamas Cardstock and Vintage Plaid Papers. This triple cube card is one of my absolute favorite fun folds of all time and I always enjoy putting them together.

I cut the card base and cube panels from Midnight cardstock along with layering panels from Perfect Blend cardstock, Not Your Mamas cardstock and Vintage Plaid paper. I spritzed the Perfect Blend cardstock with Tinsel Blue, Peacock and Wheat Chroma Mists to achieve the look of sea water. I stamped a couple sentiments and a variety of images from the Pirate Party Stamp and Die Bundle in our Raven ink and once again in our Clear Embossing ink, then heat embossed them in our Icicle Embossing Powder.

I colored the images with Karin Brushmarker Pro markers and then cut them with the coordinating dies. I created a mechanism for the front sentiment using a 3/4″ circle punch. As with all projects like this, the assembly is always the most fun, and this was no exception. It was delightful watching it come to life! The finishing touch on the front was adding several of our Violet Shift Flat Back Crystals.

I cut a couple panels from the back from Perfect Blend cardstock and adhered another couple images and a sentiment, which completed the card. How stinkin’ fun is this?!

Scrappy hugs,

I love you snow much

Hey everybody, Happy Friday – I hope you’ve had a great week! I’m thrilled to share a Brutus Monroe DT inspiration project today featuring the super adorable Snow Much Stamp and Coordinating Die which I paired with our Brown Butter cardstock and Winter Wings paper. [Note: I also used our Love Letters paper for one of the elements which is out of stock at Brutus Monroe but is in stock at A Cherry On Top.] It’s never too early to start on those Christmas cards, and this pop-out Z-fold showcases these Christmas products in such a fun way! This is an amazing fold!

I cut the card base and shaped pieces from our Brown Butter cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating prints in the Winter Wings 6×6 Paper Collection. I stamped the snowman from our Snow Much Stamp Set in Raven ink on CutCardStock Basis 110# Natural cardstock and colored it with an assortment of markers in my stash. I cut him with the Snow Much Coordinating Die and made him the star of the show on the front panel. I added a Keep It Simple Clementine Enamel Heart along with several of our Red Shift Flat Back Crystals, which completed the card front.

I cut the one shaped element on the inside (peeking out from behind the three on the front) from the Love Letters 6×6 Paper Collection that I mentioned above. I stamped a sentiment from the Snow Much Stamp Set in Raven ink and colored the tiny heart with a red marker.

I finished off the back with a panel of CutCardStock Basis 80# Natural. I embellished it with a leftover strip of the Winter Wings paper and stamped another sentiment from the Snow Much Stamp Set. I’ve also included a shot from overhead so you can see the construction of this fold. It definitely is a fun one!

Scrappy hugs,

King of the Remote

Hey everybody, happy Friday the 13th, lol! I hope you’ve had an awesome week and you’re ready to have some fun this weekend! I’m stoked to share a Brutus Monroe DT inspiration project with you today featuring our super fun Remote King Stamp & Die Bundle which I paired with our Midnight cardstock, Vintage Plaid papers, Heat Resistant Acetate, and a few other items in the store. My inspiration for this spanner panel card came from Splitcoast Stampers – it was showcased in a newsletter several years ago (tutorial is HERE). I made this one in portrait orientation which is a little different than the ones I’ve made in the past that were in landscape orientation. This Father’s Day TV remote die cut needed proper vertical representation, right?! I love how this turned out!

I cut the card base from Midnight cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating prints in the Vintage Plaid 6×6 Paper Collection and our Heat Resistant Acetate. Using the Remote King Stamp & Die Bundle, I stamped the sentiment in Raven ink on Not Your Mamas cardstock, cut it with the coordinating die, and adhered it to the bottom of the center panel.

I stamped the remote in Raven ink and then stamped it a second time (over top of the black ink) in our Clear Embossing ink. I heat embossed it in Icicle Embossing Powder and colored just the center dial. The final step was cutting it with the coordinating die and adhering it to the card front, attaching it by the corners between the narrow side flaps and panel of acetate at the bottom. The final step for the front was adding a few Hematite Flat Back Crystals.

There are several layers to this card. The narrow side flaps lift to reveal just the center panel. Then the center panel lifts to reveal the inside of the card which features an additional stamped sentiment from the Remote King Stamp & Die Bundle which I cut with the coordinating die. So fun!

Scrappy hugs,

Miss You

Hi friends! Happy Friday to you all – I hope you have something insanely fun planned this weekend! I’m thrilled to share a Brutus Monroe DT inspiration project with you today featuring our small but mighty Miss You Florals Stamps and Dies which I paired with our Brown Butter cardstock, Fluttering Forest papers, Ornament Gold Chroma Mist and Red Shift Flat Back Crystals. My inspiration for this triple floating diamond card (also known as a pop out accordion fun fold) came from Lisa Curcio’s blog a while back. I used small magnets on this one to keep it open for display, which I didn’t do on the last one I made, and it really makes a difference.

I cut the card base from our Brown Butter cardstock along with layering panels from Neenah Classic Crest Baronial Ivory cardstock and coordinating prints in our Fluttering Forest 6×6 Paper Collection. I lightly misted the patterned paper diamonds with Ornament Gold Chroma Mist and set them aside for a few minutes to dry. I stamped the sentiment and floral images in the Miss You Florals Stamps in Raven ink on ivory cardstock and colored the florals with alcohol markers. I fussy cut the sentiment and die cut the florals with the coordinating Miss You Florals Dies. I added small disc magnets to the left and right points of the center diamond to keep the card open for display. The finishing touch was adding several Red Shift Flat Back Crystals.

Here is an overhead shot so you can see the construction. It’s easy and fun!

Scrappy hugs,

You make my day brighter

Hey everybody, how did it get to be the last Friday in May… already?! Dang, the time is flying by waaaay too fast! I’m delighted to share a Brutus Monroe DT inspiration project today featuring our wonderful new Brighter Day stamp set and Flower Power papers which I paired with our Lace Layers nested dies, Jack O Lantern cardstock and Red Shift flat back crystals. This front flap fold that I’ve turned into a friendship card is one of my all-time favorite fun folds. I’ve made many of these over the years and the flap can be put on either side and can be any width, and the focal element can be any shape. There are tons of different ways to make this card!

Mini instructions: Cut a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ flat card base with a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layering panel cut from either patterned paper or cardstock. Cut a 3-1/4″ x 8-1/2″ piece of cardstock scored at 4-1/4″ with a 3″ x 4″ layering panel cut from patterned paper. This creates the smaller front flap and is adhered to either the left or right side… there’s no wrong way to do this. I’m left-handed so I naturally navigate to the left side, lol. Cut an additional 3″ x 4″ piece from plain paper for the sentiment panel inside the smaller front flap. Embellish as desired.

I cut a 2-1/8″ x 2-7/8″ panel of Jack O Lantern cardstock for the focal element and layered a slightly larger 2-1/4″ x 3″ panel of off-white paper from the Flower Power paper pack under it. I stamped the image from the Brighter Day stamp set, colored it with bright markers, and fussy cut it. I stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set in vertical fashion and added an epoxy heart from my stash. After adhering the focal element to the front flap, I added a strip cut from the edge of one of the Lace Layers die along with a semi-oval and flower cut from prints in the Flower Power paper pack. The finishing touch was adding several Red Shift flat back crystals.

I trimmed an off-white paper from the same Flower Power paper pack, incorporating the rainbow and flowers at the bottom of the panel. I stamped the other sentiment in the Brighter Day stamp set in Raven ink, which completed the card. Another super easy fun fold… let me know if you make one!

Scrappy hugs,

Thank you for helping meowot

Howdy peeps – I hope you’ve had a great week and you’re looking forward to some fun this weekend! With this delightful weather, you HAVE to be ready to have some fun! I’m excited to share a Brutus Monroe DT inspiration project today featuring our amazing new Kitty Heart stamp set which I paired with our Playful Patterns paper, Sea cardstock, and Super Sentimental stamp set. I’m totally in love with this swing flap fun fold and thought these stamps and papers would make an outstanding kitty-themed thank you card!

I cut the 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ card base from our Sea cardstock along with a layering panel from a plaid print in our Playful Patterns paper pack cut at 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″. Using a square die in my stash about 2-3/4″ in square, I cut an aperture completely through both layers on the front flap, reserving the square cut from the Sea cardstock. You can do this by only applying adhesive around the edges of the patterned paper when adhering it to the card front. I die cut a slightly smaller square from Solar White cardstock and adhered it to the Sea cardstock square. I stamped the image from the Kitty Heart stamp set in Raven ink on a scrap piece of Solar White, colored it with markers and fussy cut it. You could also stamp this directly on the white cardstock square.

The inside accordion type panel was also cut from Solar White at 5-1/4″ x 6″ and scored at 2″ and 4″. It’s easier to stamp any images or sentiment on this panel prior to adhering to the card base. I stamped the vertical row of kitties from the Kitty Heart stamp set in Raven ink along with a sentiment from the Super Sentimental stamp set, and then adhered the panel to the right side of the card base. I chose to leave these kitties uncolored but you can color them if you want.

The final step – which is where the magic happens – is to close the card with the inside panel also folded up (mountain then valley). Apply adhesive only to the portion of the white cardstock panel that’s visible through the aperture and press the focal image into the space. When the card is opened, half of the focal image swings through the aperture. So fun!

Scrappy hugs,

groovy hello

Hi friends! Wishing you all a happy and groovy Friday! I’m thrilled to share a side accordion panel card for Brutus Monroe featuring our new Love Planters stamp set and Flower Power papers which I paired with our Playful Patterns paper and Scarlet cardstock. I totally love how this turned out – the bright and bold colors really make me happy! And fun folds always make me happy so it’s a win-win on this one! I’ve made a bunch of these over the past couple years and I typically include a mini version of the instructions if you’d like to learn how to make this.

Here are the mini instructions: Cut the 5-1/2″ x 11″ card base from our Scarlet cardstock, score at 1-3/4″, 3-1/2″, 5-1/4″ and 7″, and fold on all the score lines. Cut a smaller folded piece from the Scarlet cardstock at 3″ x 6″ and score at 3″. From coordinating prints in the Flower Power and Playful Patterns paper packs, cut three 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ panels for the left side, a 3-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ panel for the right side, and two 2-3/4″ square panels for the smaller folded piece. Cut one additional 2-3/4″ square panel for a sentiment. Embellish as desired.

I stamped the vases and flowers from the Love Planters stamp set in Raven ink on Neenah Classic Crest Baronial Ivory cardstock and colored them with an assortment of markers. I added some shimmer to the vases with a Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen. I stamped a sentiment from the same Love Planters stamp set in Raven ink and added several Red Shift flat back crystals.

I stamped an additional vase with flower and sentiment from the same stamp set on the inside panel, which completed the card. I included an angled shot so you can see the construction of this super easy fun fold! Let me know if you make one! ;)

Scrappy hugs,

hello my friend

Hey everybody, happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a great week. I’m delighted to share a Brutus Monroe DT inspiration project today featuring the amazing New Day stamps and dies which I paired with a floral print in our Plaid Petals paper collection, an off-white paper in the Flower Power paper collection, our Rouge cardstock and a few Light Pink flat back crystals. I totally love how this turned out using these beautifully coordinating products. And this twisted gate fold is such a show-stopper and is easy to make! I’m totally convinced any friend would be happy to receive this card!

Cut the card base from Rouge cardstock at 7-1/2″ x 4-1/4″, scored at 2-1/2″ and 5″. This panel now is divided into three sections. Score the left and right sections from the upper left corner diagonally down to the bottom right corner, leaving the middle section alone. Mountain fold the two diagonal score lines and valley fold the two straight score lines, using a bone folder to burnish the creases.

Cut two panels of either patterned or plain paper at 2-1/4″ x 3-7/8″ and decide which piece you want for the ‘upper’ and ‘lower’ flaps. For the upper flaps (the floral print from our Plaid Petals paper pack on my project), cut the panel diagonally from the upper left corner down to the lower right corner. For the lower flaps (the off-white paper from our Flower Power paper pack on my project), cut the upper right corner down to the lower left corner. Adhere the panels to the flaps.

Using the stamps in the New Day stamps, stencil and dies bundle, stamp the circle frame and a sentiment from our New Day stamp set in pink inks on the off-white paper. Cut the stamped circle frame with the coordinating die, and either die cut or punch the sentiment in a circle. Next, die cut or punch a slightly larger circle from the Rouge cardstock, layer the circles together and adhere them on top of the stamped circle frame popped up on thin 3D foam squares. Adhere the sentiment piece to the card front, applying adhesive only to half of it so the card opens and closes properly. Add a few light pink crystals, which will complete the card front.

Cut an inside panel from the off-white paper at 2-1/4″ x 4″, embellish it with a leftover strip of the floral paper, and stamp an inside sentiment (also from the New Day stamps, stencil and dies bundle). That’s it… I told you it was easy! I’d love to know if you make one! ;)

Best Dad Ever

Hey y’all, happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a great week! I’m delighted to share a Brutus Monroe DT inspiration project today featuring the awesome Vintage Plaid papers and Occasional Greetings stamp set. I also used our Midnight and Jack O Lantern cardstock along with our Super Sentimental stamp set to make this incredible shirt card come to life. It’s my own fun fold/shape card design and I’m happy to share my instructions with anyone who would like to have them. The Freebies page on my blog is not available right now so use the email address on my Contact page to let me know you’d like to have them. ;)

I cut the shirt card base from Midnight cardstock along with layering panels from an orange and blue plaid (LOVE!) from our Vintage Plaid 6×6 Paper Pack. I used Eyelet Outlet blue gemstones for the buttons. I stamped the sentiment from our Occasional Greetings Stamp Set on a Jack O Lantern cardstock scrap in Raven ink and punched it with a Stampin’ Up 1-3/4″ Circle Punch. I die cut a slightly larger circle (using the Love From Lizi Stitched Circle Nested Cutting Dies) from Midnight cardstock, layered them together, and affixed the sentiment to the shirt front on adhesive foam squares.

I cut the inside panel from Perfect Blend cardstock and embellished it with a leftover strip of the plaid paper used on the front. The finishing touch was stamping a sentiment from our Super Sentimental Stamp Set in Raven ink.

Wanderlust

Hey everybody, happy Friday! You’ve undoubtedly read in my previous posts that Ed and I are moving from Colorado to Iowa, so we’ve been super busy. Thank goodness for the ability to schedule posts ahead of time or I’d be SOL! I’m thrilled to share a Brutus Monroe DT inspiration project today featuring the amazing Road Trip stamp set along with our Pink Lemonade cardstock and Spring Splatter papers. Any kind of RV/camper stamp sets have a special place in my heart because we were full-time RVers for several years. We’ve met a lot of awesome people and had some really good times… great memories for sure! I saw this pop up block card year before last on Lisa Curcio’s blog and it’s one of my all-time favorite fun folds to make.

I cut the card base and blocks from our Pink Lemonade cardstock along with layering panels from our Spring Splatter 6×6 Paper Pack. I stamped the camper from the Road Trip stamp set in Raven ink on Solar White cardstock. I colored it with an assortment of markers, fussy cut it and then stamped a sentiment on it in Catherine Pooler Samba ink. I added a tiny bow fashioned from Keep It Simple Back To Basics Black & White Ribbon along with several of our Light Pink Flat Back Crystals.

I added a Solar White panel to the back which I embellished with a leftover strip of the Spring Splatter paper. I stamped another sentiment from the Road Trip stamp set in Raven ink, which completed the card. I included a shot of the card folded flat for mailing. Love it!
