You Croc My World!

Hi everyone, Happy Monday – I hope you had a great weekend! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a ‘love you just because’ half flap card. Talk about easy peasy… this is one of the easiest cards ever! I used a 110# Solar White A2 Folded Card Base with Mantis Green, Granny Smith, Scottish Highlands Green, Kale Green, and Silk Glitter Red Flash cardstock. And see that diagonal line of little gold dots toward the top left? Those were made with the EK Tools Dual Tip Gold Pen. I think this is my all-time favorite gold pen because it doesn’t leave that oily-looking rim around whatever you draw or write. And this croc is beyond adorable – I just love me some Lawn Fawn!

I used a Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White A2 Folded Card Base. Then I built my diagonal strip background on a piece of 20# copy paper covered with a Scrapbook Adhesives Adhesive Sheet. I cut strips from Mantis Green, Granny Smith, Scottish Highlands Green and Kale Green cardstock using the Scrapbook.com Decorative Long Strips Dies and trimmed it to fit the top portion of the card front. Using the EK Tools Dual Tip Gold Pen, I added some dots and then added two more layers to a couple other strips for a little interest.

Using the Lawn Fawn Croc My World stamps, I stamped the crocodile on 80# Solar White cardstock, colored him with G85 and G99 Copic Ciao alcohol markers, and cut him with the coordinating die. I layered him on two more die cuts for dimension. I stamped the sentiment in Catherine Pooler Eucalyptus ink and then added the croc to the flap. I also added a double layer red glitter heart cut from Silk Glitter Red Flash cardstock and a leftover strip which I adhered vertically on the left side of the flap along with three tiny buttons.

I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock, stamped a sentiment from the Love From Lizi Summer Botany stamp set in the green ink, and layered the panel on Kale Green cardstock.

Happy Birthday Hat

Hey everybody, Happy Thursday – I hope you’re having a great week! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a super cute birthday card that looks like a hat! I have a friend who uses ordinary stand-alone dies to make fun and creative cards and I challenged myself to do the same. I used our Lessebo Brick Orange, Silk Glitter Opulent Opal, and Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. You are going to love how easy this card is to create!

I totally love the Love From Lizi shaped die sets because there are a HUGE number of dies in them which makes layering super easy. Using the largest die in the Stitched Circle Nested Cutting Dies, I cut the card base from Lessebo Brick Orange cardstock. Using the second largest die in the set, I cut a layering panel for the brim from an orange floral paper in the Doodlebug Design Floral-Graph Rainbow Petite Prints 6×6 paper pad.

I pulled out the Love From Lizi Stitched Oval Nested Cutting Dies and cut two ovals (the same size, using the 8th largest die in the set) for the top of the hat. I used the Scrapbook.com Bow Toppers Dies to cut several bows from our Silk Glitter Opulent Opal and Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock which I layered together for stability. The reason I cut several bow is because I initially couldn’t decide which one I wanted to use, so I gave myself some choices, lol!

I used the My Favorite Things Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings 3 stamp set (one of my all-time favorites) for the sentiment which I stamped in Catherine Pooler Orange Peel ink. I added some iridescent gemstones colored with a YR16 Copic Ciao alcohol marker.

Using the second largest die in the Love From Lizi Stitched Circle Nested Cutting Dies, I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and cut it in half. I embellished it with a narrow strip of the floral paper used on the front and stamped another sentiment from that awesome My Favorite Things stamp set. Love, love, love this card – and I can see many more of these in my future! Be sure to check out my tutorial on the CutCardStock blog and please let me know if you make one!

Scrappy hugs,

Miss You fun fold

Hey everybody, happy weekend – I hope you’re having a good one! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a side panel pillar card in a timeless black and white color combo with just a pop of color. I used Savoy Cotton, Beetle Black, Wedding Cake White, and Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock, and I totally love how it turned out. I have to admit that once again I started out with a completely different card design in my head. Before I knew it, the card had morphed into this black and white beauty. It amazes me how something so simple can pack such a punch!

Using the Love From Lizi Stitched Rectangle Nested Cutting Dies and Wild Bloom Dragonflies Cutting Dies, I die cut the focal panel from Savoy Cotton cardstock intending to spritz it with some shimmer mist. I sat there looking at it thinking how pretty it would be to just leave it white and back it on some black cardstock. So my entire card design shifted some major gears and I ended up cutting a few more pieces. I colored the three dragonflies with alcohol markers, gave them some shimmer with a Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen and Glossy Accents, and set them aside.

I cut the card base and front panel from Beetle Black and the layering panels from Wedding Cake White which I dry embossed with a Cuttlebug Script embossing folder. I stamped the sentiment from the Brutus Monroe Miss You Florals stamp set in Brutus Monroe Clear Embossing Ink and heat embossed it with Brutus Monroe Alabaster Pigment Ink. I cut it at an angle with a small Love From Lizi Stitched Oval Nested Cutting Die and popped it up in the lower right corner on a thin adhesive foam square. The final touch on the front was adding a few iridescent gemstones.

I cut the back panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and added a dry embossed panel of the Beetle Black down the left side. I stamped a sentiment from the Love From Lizi Just Because stamp set in Versafine Onyx Black ink, which completed the card.

Scrappy hugs,

an ocean full of thanks

Hi everyone, happy Wednesday – I hope you’re having a great week! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making an ocean inspired thank you card with pretty cardstock, shimmery foil and a super cute sea turtle. I used Savoy Cotton cardstock along with Surf, Hummingbird, and Caribbean Blue. Then, toward the end I brought in Vanilla Bean Brown and Ginger Snap. And, of course, my go-to for card bases and layering panels is typically Neenah Classic Crest Solar White.

Using a panel of our Savoy cotton cardstock, I created the background panel using the Love From Lizi To The Beach stencil, Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo and Deco Foil Glass Slipper Transfer Sheets. I cut the card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock along with layering panels and frames from Surf, Hummingbird, and Caribbean Blue. The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Mermaid Kisses, stamped in Catherine Pooler Sea Glass ink. I used Love From Lizi Stitched Rectangle and Stitched Circle Nested Cutting Dies for this project. I brought in Vanilla Bean Brown and Ginger Snap for a turtle re-do toward the end of this process, which I explain in my tutorial.

I embellished the inside panel with a leftover strip of the foiled background used on the front, and added an additional sentiment from the Hero Arts Mermaid Kisses Stamps. For more details, be sure to check out my tutorial on the CutCardStock blog!

Scrappy hugs,

Love you from my head to-ma-toes

Hi friends, how did it get to be the bottom half of May already?! I’m shaking my head (still) at how fast the year is flying by! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making another fun fold. You know I absolutely LOVE fun folds and I just can’t get enough of them! This clean and simple triangle pocket card features a minimal supply list consisting of Lessebo Pitch Black and Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White which I paired with some old Stampin’ Up double-sided paper. I just love black and white used with one other color!

I cut the flat card base and a layering panel from Lessebo Pitch Black cardstock along with two additional layering panels from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White. Next I cut the inner tri-fold panel from a watermelon colored paper from a Stampin’ Up paper stack (an old one, lol… from 2015-2017). I used the PhotoPlay No Pun Intended Fruits & Veggies stamps (another old item from my stash which I haven’t used in years) for the front sentiment and image, and added several red gemstones.

The image on the inside is the same as the front and the inside sentiment is from the Keep It Simple Sunshine & Rainbows stamp set. All stamping was done with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the images were colored with Copic Ciao alcohol markers and a green ultra fine point Sharpie.

And here’s one final shot with the little card on the inside tucked into the triangle pocket. This turned out so stinkin’ cute and it’s so easy… I can see making these for all kinds of occasions. Be sure to check out my tutorial on the CutCardStock blog if you want to learn how to make it!

Scrappy hugs,

feel better friend

Hey everybody, Happy Saturday! I hope you had a great week and have something fun planned this weekend. I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a friendship card in the form of a library pocket! I used our Lessebo Bubble Gum Pink, Lessebo Blossom Pink and Pop Tone Jellybean Green, along with Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White for the card insert. You won’t believe how easy this card is – I see many more of these in my future, lol!

I cut the library pocket card base from Lessebo Bubble Gum Pink along with a layering panel from Lessebo Blossom Pink and the card insert from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White. I used my MISTI to do some outline stamping on the layering panel in Versafine Onyx Black ink using the Stampin’ Up Hand-Penned Petals stamp set. Then I used Catherine Pooler Eucalyptus, Something Borrowed, Grape Crush, Flirty Fuchsia and Pucker Up inks to do the fill-in stamping with an acrylic stamping block.

I also used the coordinating Stampin’ Up Penned Flowers dies to embellish the Solar White card insert. The front sentiment was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink using the same Stampin’ Up Hand-Penned Petals stamp set which I cut with a Love From Lizi Stitched Circle Nested Cutting Die. The finishing touch on the front was the addition of several Brutus Monroe Light Pink Flat Back Crystals.

The only thing left to do with the insert card was to stamp a sentiment. This one, from the Stampin’ Up Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set, was also stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink. Love, love, love how this turned out! Be sure to visit the CutCardStock blog to see my tutorial if you want to learn how to make this! I have to admit that I attempted to watch a video on YouTube but it was awful (as was the accompanying written tutorial) so I ended up going in my own direction. Sometimes you just have to take the bull by the horns, lol!

Scrappy hugs,

Dad We Love You

Hey everybody, another wish for a happy Friday since this is my second post of the day! I hope you’re having a great week. I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a super cute shirt card for Dad which is my own design. It’s super easy and really packs a punch. You can dress it up or down, and make it masculine, feminine or kid-friendly. I used Misty Blue and Navy Blue from our Lessebo line along with my studio staple Neenah Classic Crest Solar White. Be sure to pop over to the blog and see my tutorial if you’d like to learn how to make this fun card!

I cut the card base from Lessebo Misty Blue cardstock and then cut the pieces for the front, sleeve, collar and placket from a plaid print in the Craft Consortium Tartan paper pad. I totally LOVE plaids for masculine shirt cards! I added Keep It Simple Back To Basics Royal Enamel Dots for the buttons along with a sentiment from the Brutus Monroe Remote King stamp set which I stamped on a Misty Blue cardstock scrap in Catherine Pooler Juniper Mist ink. I cut it with a Love From Lizi Stitched Label Nested Cutting Die and layered it on a slightly larger label die cut which I cut from Lessebo Navy Blue cardstock.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a leftover strip of the plaid paper used on the front. I stamped another Brutus Monroe sentiment from the Super Sentimental stamp set in the blue ink, and this completed the card.

Scrappy hugs,

hello

Hi everyone, happy Thursday – I hope you’re having a great week! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a pretty floral friendship card in a coral/peach/orange combo. Unfortunately, the Basis Coral cardstock I used is no longer on the website. However, any coral colored cardstock would compliment the Bazzill Peach Canvas Textured cardstock and Pop Tone Tangy Orange cardstock I used. I also used Altenew stamps and dies, crocheted lace and a scalloped border die from my stash.

I cut the card base from Basis Coral cardstock along with a layering panel and scalloped border (using the Sweet & Sassy Scalloped Border Die) from Bazzill Peach Canvas Textured cardstock. I cut a length of white crocheted ribbon and thin strip of Pop Tone Tangy Orange to go on top of the panel. I stamped the florals from the Altenew Mini Delights: Watering Can stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black, Lady Bug, Morocco and Rich Cocoa inks, colored the leaves with Copic Ciao alcohol markers, and fussy cut them.

I die cut the watering can from Basis Coral, Bazzill Basics Peach and Tangy Orange cardstock and assembled it. I used my Xacto knife to cut a slit in the top of the can, inserted the florals, and adhered the focal to the card front on adhesive foam squares. I stamped the sentiment from the same Altenew stamp set in Versafine Onyx Black ink, fussy cut it and adhered it in the bottom right corner. The finishing touch was adding several Honey Bee Pastel Pearls.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with an additional scalloped border die cut. I stamped a sentiment from the Honey Bee Fall Swags stamp set and cut it with the coordinating Fall Swags die. I layered the panel on Pop Tone Tangy Orange, which completed the card.

Scrappy hugs,

HELLO mini slimline

Hey everybody, happy middle of the week! The weeks sure are rolling by fast… and I sure wish some warmer weather would follow. Our southern friends are having heat waves and we have snow on the ground! In all honesty, we’ve had a very mild Winter so I’m really not complaining. I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a fun friendship card featuring the Spellbinders Sunset In A Glass die set that I’m totally in love with! I actually had another project created and scheduled to go live this morning, but since our Lessebo cardstock is 10% off throughout the month of March (and it happens to be my favorite), I decided to switch gears and share this mini slimline card instead. Good choice, right?! I used six colors from our Lessebo line as well as light and medium shades of kraft.

I cut my go-to size of 3-1/2″ x 6″ mini slimline card base from Lessebo Coffee Bean as well as a layering panel from Desert Storm cardstock (the lighter one) and a die cut panel from Twine cardstock (the slightly darker one) using a Kat Scrappiness Mini Slimline Stitched Rope Die. Then I went to work creating the focal image. Using the Spellbinders Sunset In A Glass die set, I cut the pieces from Lessebo Coffee Bean, Lessebo Brick Orange, Lessebo Sunset Orange, Lessebo Cherry Red, Lessebo Arctic Blue, Lessebo White, Twine and Desert Storm. Once I completed the assembly of the glass, the finishing touch was adding several Freckled Fawn Enamel Dots.

I used the same Kat Scrappiness Mini Slimline Stitched Rope Die to cut the inside panel from Twine cardstock and then added a slightly smaller panel of Desert Storm cardstock. The sentiment is from the Pinkfresh Studio Wonderful Sentiments stamp set which I stamped in Catherine Pooler Icing on the Cake ink.

Scrappy hugs,

Thanks

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday – I hope you’re having a great week! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a pretty watermarked thank you card. Our Lessebo cardstock is on sale this month and I used Salt Water Blue, Amazon Dark Teal, Coffee Bean, Aubergine, Lilac and Amethyst from that line, along with Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, to make this card. I’ve mentioned previously that Lessebo is my favorite cardstock. It replaced the Basis line last year, and the weight and colors are glorious. It makes THE best cards! I love a teal and purple color combo, so that’s the direction I went. I also did a little Versamark watermarking on the front and inside – a detail that’s really subtle but sure adds to the ‘wow’ factor!

I cut a standard A2 side-folding card base from Lessebo Salt Water Blue. I masked off the top portion of the front of the card base and stamped a leaf image from the Altenew Mini Delight: Celebratory Banner stamp set in Versamark ink randomly over the bottom portion. I know that Versamark is a watermark ink but in all the years I’ve been crafting, I’ve never used it for watermarking! I’m serious… can you imagine?! I added a narrow strip of Lessebo Aubergine cardstock across the top of the watermarked portion.

Next, I die cut the banner and floral elements from Lessebo Amazon Dark Teal, Lessebo Coffee Bean, Lessebo Lilac and Lessebo Amethyst cardstock. I heat embossed the Thanks sentiment (from the same stamp set) in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. I gave the flowers some highlights with a BV31 Pale Lavendar Copic Ciao alcohol marker, assembled the banner, and adhered it to the card front. The finishing touch was adding a few small teal gemstones.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock, masked off the bottom three-quarters of the panel. and stamped the same leaf image on the top portion of the panel. I added two narrow strips of Lessebo Lilac and Lessebo Amethyst cardstock, and then another flower. I had the Altenew Mini Delight: Watering Daisies stamps and dies out on my desk from another project, and used the ‘hugs’ stamp for the inside sentiment on this card. I layered the panel on Lessebo Aubergine cardstock, which completed the card.
