Let’s Shell-ebrate

Hi friends! Happy Saturday – I hope you have something fun planned this weekend. Our weather is supposed to be nice in the mid to upper 50s so I plan to get out and walk a little and (of course) craft a little, too. ;) I’m delighted to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you that I created with papers and die cut pieces from our new Once Upon A Time: Ariel Collection. This is one of the best collections ever, and I have fond memories of my daughter watching The Little Mermaid movie. I believe she was about five when it came out. I created a twisted ribbon panel on the left side this card and I love the fun it adds. This was my first attempt and I definitely see more twisted ribbon in my future, lol!

I cut the card base and twisted ribbon panel from CutCardStock Lessebo Amazon Dark Teal cardstock along with layering panels from CutCardStock Bright Gold Foil and a print in the Ariel 6×9 Collection Pack. Next I cut strips from a couple more coordinating prints and then fashioned the twisted ribbon panel.

I added the die cuts from the Ariel Die Cut Pieces as well as a sentiment (from the Ariel Collection Stamps) which I stamped in Catherine Pooler Daydream ink and cut with the coordinating Ariel Outline Dies. The finishing touch was adding a few dots from Imagine Crafts Gold irRESISTible Pico Embellisher.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with die cuts and a leftover patterned paper strip that I cut for the twisted ribbon panel. I added another sentiment that I stamped from the Ariel Collection Stamps and cut with the coordinating Outline Dies.

Scrappy hugs,

Whoop De Doo

Hey everybody, a big ol’ Happy Saturday to you! I hope you have something fun planned this weekend. We are expecting some temps in the 60s and 70s next week, and even with the mild Winter we’ve had and our love for cooler weather, we’re ready for Spring! ;) I’m thrilled to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you today that I created with our NEW Triangle Accordion Pocket Card Dies that were released yesterday! I paired these dies with our Snow Day papers and Scandinavian Christmas Gnomes stamps and dies, along with our Birthday Sentiments stamps and Stitched Rectangles nested dies.

And I’m proud to share that Keep It Simple sent this die set into production after my Christmas-themed accordion pocket card sample HERE was deemed a huge hit at one of the expos last Summer. Needless to say, my head swelled a bit when she told us about it, and I’m thrilled to share it with you today. My sample was all hand-cut and this die set makes this card a breeze to create!

Using the KIS Cuts Triangle Accordion Pocket Card Dies, I cut the card base from American Crafts Black cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating prints from the Snow Day 6×9 and 12×12 Collection Packs. I stamped a couple images from the Scandinavian Christmas Gnomes Collection Stamps, colored them with an assortment of markers, and cut them with the coordinating Outline Dies.

Using a die in the Back To Basics Stitched Rectangles Nested Dies, I cut a card to slip into the pocket. For the final step, I stamped several sentiments from the Back To Basics Birthday Sentiments stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black and Catherine Pooler Rockin’ Red inks, fussy cut or trimmed them, and adhered them to the front, inside and the pocket card.

Here’s an additional shot showing the card removed from the pocket. This is such a fun set of dies that can be used for literally any occasion with any color palette!

Scrappy hugs,

Irish You A… Lucky Day

Hey everybody, Happy St. Patty’s Day and may the luck o’ the Irish be with you! I’m excited to share a DT inspiration project for Keep It Simple with you today. Several of our DT members made optional ‘green projects’ to share today and I’m showcasing a super cute hinge card using papers and stamps from our Lucky Day Collection. I recently saw this hinge card on Pinterest that sparked my interest and looked really familiar. I was sure I had made one similar to it but with a different name, and after searching I came up with THIS double flap fun fold from a couple years ago. Similar but slightly different, and a whole lot of fun!

I cut the card base and scored flaps from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock along with layering panels from assorted prints in the Lucky Day 6×9 Collection Pack. I stamped the rainbow and gnome on Solar White, colored them with an assortment of green Copic Ciao alcohol markers, and adhered them to the narrow front flap on adhesive foam squares. I added some Cosmic Shimmer Fluffy Stuff to the clouds and heated it with my heat tool to fluff it up.

I then stamped the sentiment in two sections (along with some stars and clover) in Memento Cottage Ivy, Bamboo Leaves and Pear Tart inks, and adhered one part to the front and the other part to a panel beneath the narrow front flap. I added a small disc magnet to keep the card closed.

When the narrow front flap is lifted, there is a larger flap that opens to the left. I embellished this area with a strip cut from a print in the Lucky Day Collection Pack as well as a heart die cut from another print in the collection pack. I used the KIS Slimline Cuts Stitched Hearts Die to cut the heart. I stamped a sentiment from the Lucky Day Collection Stamps in Cottage Ivy ink, trimmed it into a strip, and adhered it across the heart.

Scrappy hugs,

Under the Sea

Hey everybody, I hope you’re having a great day! I’ve popped in this morning with a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project created with papers, stamps and dies from our new Once Upon A Time: Ariel Collection. This collection just released last week and if you’re a fan of fairytales and princesses, you are in for a real treat. I used my own open box card design to create an aquarium card, and I totally love how it turned out. I’ve made quite a few open box cards over the years – even a fairly large one for another design team project a couple years ago – and it’s super simple to make. My Freebies page is currently unavailable but drop me a comment on this post if you’d like me to email you my instructions.

I cut the card base and strips from CutCardStock Basis Aqua cardstock along with layering panels from a watery looking print in the Aerial collection that was perfect for an underwater scene. I stamped a sentiment and quite a few images from the Ariel Collection Stamps on Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock and colored the images with an assortment of markers. I added some shimmer with a Spectrum Noir Crystal Clear Overlay marker and then die cut them with the coordinating Ariel Outline Dies. I built my scene, adding images to all three strips and to the background, along with the sentiment, and popping some of them up on thin adhesive foam squares. The final touch was adding a panel of clear acetate from our Shaker Basics- Foam & Acetate Pack for the aquarium front.

I cut a panel of 80# Solar White cardstock for the back and embellished it with another print in the Ariel Collection. I stamped a sentiment, also from the Ariel Collection Stamps, in Catherine Pooler Cummerbund ink, and this completed the card. I’ve also included an overhead angle shot so you can see the construction. So fun!

Hey everybody, happy weekend! It’s Sunday afternoon and our weekend is about shot… but it won’t be long before another one rolls around, lol! I’m thrilled to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project which is on the Keep It Simple website under How-Tos! I created a new home card and it went live several weeks ago and I forgot to share! It’s THE cutest buckle card and I’m proud to say it’s my own design! I used Crafty Girls papers along with stamps and dies from our Build-A-Birdhouse collection.

Card base, inside sentiment panel and belt were cut from Solar White cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating papers in the Crafty Girls collection. I used stamps and dies from our Build-A-Birdhouse collection for the focal area on the front and the inside sentiment panel. Super cute and fairly easy!

Scrappy hugs,

just skiing by to say HI!

Hey everybody, can you believe it’s Thursday already?! Dang, this week is flying by just like all the others. I’m delighted to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you today. This double diamond fold features our new Cloud Stencil along with papers, stamps and dies from our Ski Resort collection which I totally love for Winter-themed cards. I’ve made only one of these in the past and my inspiration came from some of these cards Lisa Curcio showcased on her blog. I really love how this turned out!

I cut the card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White and the diamond layering panels from prints in the Ski Resort 6×9 Collection Pack. Using the Cloud Stencil, I stenciled the clouds on the larger center diamond panel of Solar White using Catherine Pooler Tranquil ink, and then stamped trees in Catherine Pooler Stone Blue ink and the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamps from the Ski Resort Collection Stamps.

I stamped the skiier (also from the Ski Resort Collection Stamps) in black ink and colored her with a variety of markers. I cut her with the coordinating Ski Resort Outline Die, added Morning Dew Crystal Drops to her goggles, and affixed her to the large center panel which I popped up on the card base with adhesive foam squares.

I stenciled the two smaller diamond panels for the back with the Cloud Stencil and Catherine Pooler Tranquil ink, layered them and adhered them to the back of the card, which completed the project.

Scrappy hugs,

Sending Sunshine & Rainbows

Hey everybody, Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a great week. I’m absolutely delighted to bring you a shaped card full of sunshine and rainbows for Keep It Simple. Our NEW cutest Rainbow Builder Dies and Sunshine & Rainbows Stamp Set were released about a week ago and I can’t tell you how much fun these products are. The possibilities are endless and the cuteness just doesn’t stop! I grabbed seven colors of our Back To Basics 6×9 Collection Packs and went to town!

Using the Rainbow Builder Dies, I cut the shaped card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock, extending the top of the rainbow shaped die past the fold in the cardstock just a bit so it didn’t cut it in two. Then I took the Back To Basics Lemon, Mango, Rose, Ruby, Lilac, Jade and Royal 6×9 Collection Packs and die cut all the elements for the rainbow and sun, adding in some white glitter cardstock from my stash for the clouds. As I always say, the assembly is the most fun! I stamped a sentiment from the Sunshine & Rainbows Stamp Set in Memento Lady Bug ink which completed the card front.

I cut the inside panels from 80# Solar White and a print from the Royal Collection Pack which I embellished with a couple hearts. I stamped another sentiment from the Sunshine & Rainbows Stamp Set in the Lady Bug ink, which completed the card.

Scrappy hugs,

Lucky

Hey everybody! Happy Thursday – I hope you’re having a great week. I’m stoked to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you today created our new Back to Basics 6×9 Lime Collection Pack! OMGosh, I totally love this color. Green (in any variation) has been my all-time favorite color since I can remember, so I thoroughly enjoyed making this. I’ve created quite a few of this version of a triple fold over the years and decided to give this one a little ‘faux’ twist by adhering the second flap down to the card base, thus giving it the ‘faux’ look of a triple fold. I thought that added a little more fun to an already fun design. And of course, these die cuts from our Lucky Day Collection make it even more fun… along with my handmade pom-pom on his hat! ;)

I cut the 5-1/2″ x 11″ card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock and scored it at 1-3/4″, 5-1/2″ and 9-3/4″ on the lone side. I folded the base in half and then folded the two remaining score lines toward the left. Working from left to right, I cut a 3-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ panel from a plaid print in the Lucky Day 6×9 Collection Pack and adhered it to the left side. Next, I cut a 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ panel from a floral print and adhered it to the second flap, and then adhered that flap down to the card base with thin adhesive foam squares.

Finally, I cut a 1″ x 5-1/4″ panel from a dotted print and adhered it to the right-hand flap. I added two disc magnets to keep the card closed, and with the card closed, I embellished the front with an assortment of die cut pieces from the Lucky Day Collection. I made a pom-pom from white yarn using a thin skewer and adhered it to the top of his hat. The final step was adding several Back To Basics Lime Enamel Dots.

I cut the 4″ x 5-1/4″ inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a leftover strip of the floral paper used on the front. I added a sentiment and a tiny gnome, also from the die cut pieces, and layered the panel on another print from the Lucky Day Collection.

Scrappy hugs,

Friend

Hey everybody, a big ol’ Happy Saturday to you! I’m stoked to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you today which features our new KIS Art Stencils – Raindrops that I paired with our Bizzy Hands Turtle Gnome stamp set. The stencils are pretty amazing and don’t have to be used for actual raindrops (although they certainly can be). I created a background panel for my ‘phe-Gnome-enol’ Friend card using a few green distress inks. Green is my all-time favorite color and I really enjoyed making this card!

I cut a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of CutCardStock Savoy Bright White Cotton cardstock and placed it on a MISTI Sticky Mat on my Ranger-Wendy Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion 12″. I gathered the KIS Art Stencils – Raindrops, blending brushes, and Catherine Pooler Melon Ice, Garden Party and Lime Rickey inks, and stenciled the background. I cut the panel with a Back To Basics Stitched Rectangles Nested Dies and then cut another panel from CutCardStock Glama Natural Clear Translucent Vellum using the same die. Vellum is a great way to tone down a busy background without actually obscuring any of the design.

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Cougar Smooth 100# White cardstock. I stamped the gnome image on Cougar Smooth 80# White cardstock, colored it with alcohol markers, and fussy cut it with my Spellbinders Detail Scissors. I sure love those scissors! I stamped the sentiment in Memento Bamboo Leaves ink, trimmed it and popped it up on foam pads. The finishing touch was adding a few Back To Basics Jade Enamel Dots.

I cut the inside panel from Cougar Smooth White cardstock with a Back To Basics Stitched Rectangles Nested Die and layered it on CutCardStock Pop Tone Jellybean Green cardstock. I stamped a sentiment in Memento Bamboo Leaves ink, which completed the card.

Scrappy hugs,

Life is Sweet

Hey everybody, it’s almost the weekend! OMGosh, we’ve had THE best weather this week… temps in the 40s and 50s here! I’m delighted to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project created with our new Life Is Sweet collection. If you love bees and all the buzz that comes with them, this collection is definitely for you! I used papers, stamps and dies from the collection to create this fun accordion card which is a super easy one (details below)!

I cut the 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ card base from CutCardStock Lessebo Coffee Bean and scored it at 4-1/4″ on the long side. Next I cut three 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ panels for the front and the left/right insides from coordinating prints in the Life Is Sweet 12×12 Collection Pack which I adhered to the card base. I stamped a variety of images and sentiments from the Life Is Sweet Collection Stamps on Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black, Espresso Truffle and Peanut Brittle inks. I colored the images with a variety of markers and cut them with the coordinating Life Is Sweet Outline Dies. I embellished the front of the card, popping some of the images and sentiment up on foam squares, and set the remaining images aside.

I cut the 4-3/4″ x 8″ inside accordion panel from Lessebo Coffee Bean and scored it at 2″, 4″ and 6″ on the long side. I trimmed it at an angle, measuring from the top left corner down to 2″ up from the bottom right corner. I accordion-folded the three score lines (valley-mountain-valley) and adhered it to the inside of the card base. I then cut four 1-7/8″ wide panels (in varying heights matching the sections on the accordion panel) from a honeycomb print in the 12×12 Collection Pack. I lightly traced the angled top edge on each section and trimmed the panels accordingly.

I adhered the layering panels to the accordion panel and embellished it with the stamped images and sentiment. I added a stitched rectangle to the back of the card (for a handwritten message and signature) cut with a Back To Basics Stitched Rectangles Nested Dies, and embellished it with the remaining stamped images.
