its your BIG day

Hi everyone! Happy Hump Day to you – hope you’re having a fabulous week so far! Things are pretty darn peachy here! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our new challenge has launched over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #62 – September Anything Goes! I created a sweet birthday card using some fun brads and a super fun die set that I haven’t used in a couple years. I’m trying to go through my humongous die collection and use some that haven’t been used in a while, or in some cases, have never been used at all, lol!

I created a standard A2 size top-folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, along with a black and white gingham paper layer for the front and narrow strips cut from CutCardStock Basis Pink cardstock for the sides. I adhered a stitched oval die cut to the center of the panel cut from CutCardStock Basis Pink cardstock and stamped the sentiment vertically on the left side in black ink. I created the dress from the same black and white gingham paper and CutCardStock Basis Pink cardstock, added tiny black gemstones to the bodice, and adhered it to the center of the oval die cut I added the shoes and purse brads, a white heart brad, and several black gemstones on the sides of the oval, and adhered the panel to the card base.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and embellished it with strips of the black and white gingham paper and CutCardStock Basis Pink cardstock, stamped the sentiment in black ink, and layered the panel on the pink cardstock.

And one more look… totally loving the black and white with pink which is such a pretty color combo! And that dress! ;)

Products used:
Cardstock/Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, CutCardStock Basis Pink cardstock, GKD Cold Snap 6×6 paper

You are fabulous

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday! I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend and it’s not too awfully hot where you are! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m stoked to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #61 – August Anything Goes! I’m particularly excited about this post because it’s my first time trying the spotlight technique and I’m loving how it turned out! I actually went one step further and added an offset ‘reverse’ spotlight in the center of the spotlight which yielded a very cool effect, I think!

I’m in love with this My Favorite Things Poppies Background stamp which is perfect for this kind of technique. I cut a 5-1/2″ top-folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. I stamped the background twice in black ink on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and trimmed one of the stamped images to use for the background panel. I punched a 2-1/2″ circle and a 2″ circle from the second stamped image, colored the poppies and adhered the circles to the background panel, trimming the 2″ circle across the top so it was even with the edge of the panel. I layered the panel on CutCardStock Habanero Red cardstock, and adhered it to the front of the card base.

I decided I wanted to go one step further and add the ‘reverse’ spotlight (at least that’s what I’m calling it, lol) to the center of the spotlighted colored poppies, so I stamped the top portion of the background once more on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. I punched 3/4″ circles from the center of the same two poppies and adhered them to the center of the colored circles.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a leftover strip cut off of one of the stamped images along with a narrow strip of CutCardStock Habanero Red cardstock, stamped the sentiment in black ink, and layered the panel on red cardstock.

And one more peek… this was definitely a fun technique that I’m sure I’ll be doing again! Can’t believe I haven’t tried it before now!

Products used:
Cardstock/Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, CutCardStock Habanero Red cardstock
Stamps: My Favorite Things Poppies Background stamp; Inspired by Stamping You Are and Words of Wisdom II stamp sets
Ink: Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink; Nuvo alcohol markers- Rich Reds Collection, Woodland Greens Collection; Memento Tuxedo Black and Rhubarb Stalk ink
Dies/Punches: Fiskars 2-1/2″ circle punch; Stampin’ Up 2″ and 3/4″ circle punches
Accessories: Tonic Studios 12″ Guillotine Paper Trimmer, Tombow Mono permanent adhesive, Bearly Art precision craft glue

wish big

Hi everybody! I hope you’re having a great week – it’s all good here with absolutely no complaints! The hubs started this year’s garden several months ago and tends to it several times a day. We live in a rural area and we’re not close to a farmer’s market, so this is the second year in a row that he’s grown our veggies, and they are SO good! Thankfully he has green thumbs! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #60 – July Anything Goes! The cut file I used for this awesome birthday card was in the CanvasWorkspace Project/Pattern Collection, and when I saw it I just had to make a colorful one!

I cut the card base from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and the rest of the pieces from CutCardStock Stardream Metallic 105# Amethyst, Aquamarine and Lagoon cardstock; CutCardStock Pop-Tone 65# Tangy Orange and Razzleberry cardstock; CutCardStock Basis 80# Dark Purple and Basis Orange; CutCardStock 80# Granny Smith cardstock; and The Paper Studio Four Seasons and Everything In Between -2- paper pad. The fun part is always assembling and watching the project come together, and this card was no exception! Using CUTplorations Skinny Sentiments, I die cut the sentiment from CutCardStock Basis Gold cardstock. The finishing touch was adding several tiny iridescent gemstones.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a leftover strip of the patterned paper used on the front. I found this hilarious rubber stamp among my Great Impressions stamps so I stamped it in Catherine Pooler Serenade ink and layered it on a larger piece of the patterned paper.

And one more peek… SO loving how this turned out! I’m all about colors and this sure fits the bill!

In Sympathy

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Hope your week is going great so far! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #59 – June Anything Goes! I taught myself how to make Foamiran flowers a while back and this is actually the very first one I created which I think turned out pretty darn well for my first attempt! They are so stinkin’ fun – I probably won’t ever buy anymore ready-made flowers, lol!

I cut my typical A2 size top-folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock and rounded the bottom left corner this time. I cut layering panels from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock and blue cardstock, adhered them together and then to the card base. I cut a connected oval die cut from metallic silver cardstock and adhered it to the front panel. I stamped the sympathy sentiment in blue ink in the center of the die cut. I adhered the foamiran flower and several leaves die cut from Papertrey Ink New Leaf cardstock (and inked with Ranger mowed lawn distress ink) to a 3/4″ punched circle. I found that adhering these large flowers with leaves to a punched circle makes it cleaner and easier to adhere to the card front.

I stamped a small bird, also from the Prickley Pear Stamps Birdcage Winter 2 stamp set, and cut it with the coordinating Birdcage die set, and layered it on several more plain die cuts for dimension, then adhered it to the flower. The finishing touch was the addition of several blue flat-back pearls in the upper right corner.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished the right side of the panel with some leftover strips of metallic silver and blue cardstock, stamped the sentiment in blue ink, and layered the panel on blue cardstock. I love using cardstock scraps in unique ways! ;)

And one more look… totally loving how this turned out! As mentioned, these foamiran flowers are so much fun to make and they really pack a wallop to a card front!

Products used:
Cardstock/Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110# and 80# cardstock, Stampin’ Up Marina Mist cardstock, Papertrey Ink New Leaf cardstock, Marco’s Venicelux Metallic Silver cardstock
Stamps: Prickley Pear Stamps Birdcage Winter 2 stamp set, The Cat’s Pajamas Simply Stacked Sentiments stamp set
Ink: Stampin’ Up Marina Mist ink, Ranger mowed lawn distress ink

You’re Simply Wonderful

5/31/21 DT Favorite Winner at Classic Design Challenge Blog!

Hi everyone! I hope your weekend is off to a great start! Loving life here with great weather and lots of studio time! It’s time for a new challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration for LTCCB #58 – May Anything Goes! I created a waterfall card – my first-ever waterfall card – and if you know me, you know that I’m a fun fold geek! I’ve had these instructions in my tutorial folder for quite some time and don’t exactly know why I haven’t made one yet… I thoroughly enjoyed making this!

I stamped the background in green using a pretty floral stamp set and layered the panel on black cardstock. I stamped a sentiment at the top of the panel in black ink. I applied transfer foil to a cardstock scrap to use for the centers of the flowers and OMG this is some fun stuff! I die cut ten flower centers from the foiled cardstock and adhered one to each of the flowers on the background. I then stamped the four waterfall panels with the same stamp set but in different colors, and layered those panels on black cardstock. I adhered the remaining gold foiled flower centers to the panels. I stamped the vertical strip across the pull mechanism in green and layered it on black cardstock as well, and adhered it to the base panel with green Scrapbook Nails.

I stamped a simple ‘thanks’ sentiment on the back, leaving plenty of room for a handwritten note and signature.

And one more peek… so happy with how this turned out! I see more of these in my future, lol!

Here’s a little video showing how this fun fold works!

cat hair note card

Hi everyone! Lots of posts to see today on my blog – this always happens on the first day of the month! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our new challenge is live over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog this morning and I’m stoked to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #57 – April Anything Goes! I downloaded a cool app on my phone several months ago and transformed a photo of our guy, Loki, into a watercolor image. I’ve had this awesome pic in my photos waiting to do something with it, so I worked up a fun note card!

LOL, did the title of this post make you giggle?! Anybody who owns cats knows all about cat hair! This sentiment just cracked me up because it’s so true! I created my go-to A2 size top-folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. I printed the image on glossy photo paper and cut it with a stitched square die. I used the JustRite Stitched A2 Banners and Rectangles die set to create the background, stamped the sentiment in black ink at the bottom and added a few tiny black gemstones.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a single strip of green cardstock, stamped the paw prints in the lower left corner, and layered the panel on black cardstock. Since it’s a note card, I left plenty of room to write a custom message.

And another peek… totally loving how this turned out! Super simple design that could easily be mass produced for a fun gift set!

3/7/21 Rising Star at A Place To Start!

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a great weekend! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! It’s time for a new challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #56 – March Anything Goes! I probably hold the record for the most Mother’s Day cards showcased on a blog, lol! I’ve been commissioned to make quite a few, so I figure why not share them?!

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock cardstock. I printed the gorgeous Botanical Orchids pre-colored digital image from Jan’s Digi Stamps on linen cardstock and cut it with a stitched circle die. I picked out some pretty cardstock with coordinating patterned paper to create the background panel and cut it with stitched rectangle die.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a strip of the patterned paper used on the front and cut it with a rectangle die. I stamped the sentiment in black ink and then layered the panel on a stitched rectangle die cut.

And one more look… totally loving how this turned out! See what I mean… I have to share these, lol!

enjoy every second

Hi everyone! Top of the morning to you! Here’s wishing you a wonderful week ahead! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our February challenge is underway over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #55 – February Anything Goes! I created a fun slimline birthday card featuring some foiling! My go-to slimline size is 9″ x 3-3/4″ because I feel that it fits better in a #10 size business envelope.

I pulled out the Mini Minc and some red and gold foil. It has literally been ages since I played with this machine! There were several tiny spots that didn’t take the foil on the large ‘enjoy’ element (perhaps because it’s so old? hmmm…) so I dotted on some Crystal Drops to cover those areas. It looked so neat that I dotted on more Crystal Drops in various sizes until I achieved the look I wanted! Hey, there’s more than one way to skin that cat! Wait a minute… we don’t skin cats here but you know what I mean, lol! I created a card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and created a background panel of red and white striped cardstock layered on red cardstock. I adhered the ‘enjoy’ element on red cardstock layered on gold foil cardstock. I added a small layered foiled flagged sentiment and some large white flat-back pearls. Sorry for the top angle of the photo but that’s the only way I could get the foil to not be black in the photos, lol!

I embellished the inside panel cut from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock with strips of red and white striped and gold foil cardstock, along with a layered foiled sentiment, and layered the panel on red cardstock.

And one more look… really happy with this despite the initial difficulty I encountered with the foil not ‘taking’ in several spots. My work-around prevailed, lol!

You’re a classic!

Hi friends! Happy Friday and Happy New Year! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our challenge is live this morning over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #54 – January Anything Goes! I was commissioned to make some Father’s Day cards and I used some very cool digital vintage vehicle images and papers for these clean and simple designs.

I made one card in landscape orientation and the other in portrait orientation, using brown and ivory for one, and CutCardStock Basis Green cardstock and ivory for the other. I printed the images on linen cardstock, cut them with stitched rectangle dies and adhered them to coordinating cardstock. I printed the digital paper on linen cardstock as well, and trimmed pieces to go across the bottom of the card fronts.

The digital sentiments on the front and inside are the same on each card, printed on smooth ivory cardstock. I embellished each inside panel with the gingham paper used on the front, adhered the panels to coordinating cardstock and adhered them to the inside of the card bases.

And one more look at each… loving how these turned out!

Put your party pants on

12/15/20 Top 3 at The Crafter’s Cafe Challenge Blog!

Hi friends! Hope your week is off to a fabulous start! It’s time for a new challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #53 – December Anything Goes! I created a fun birthday card using the Tim Holtz Crazy Birds stamps and dies. Papers are from Polly’s Paper Studio.

Leslie

I had THE best time creating this card! I used the Papertrey Ink Scalloped A2 Die Collection for the card base and front/inside panels. I’m in love with the Crazy Birds and colored this gal with red, orange and yellow Spectrum Noir alcohol markers (and her hat with red and green), then added some love with a white paint pen. I think I may have gotten a little carried away with the white paint pen but I like it, lol! I stamped the sentiment in black ink and punched it out with a circle punch, then added a metal present charm from my stash.

2020_0127002a

I embellished the inside panel with a strip of the polkadot paper used on the front and an oval die cut, on which I stamped the birthday sentiment in black ink.

And one more look… totally loving how this turned out! I have this one ear-marked for someone special next month! ;)
