love U tag

Hi everyone! Hope your week is off to a great start. We’re a little closer to Christmas and I am done with Christmas cards and have moved on to another occasion, lol! I’m stoked to share an inspiration project for the Mixed Up Merchandise Printables DT. I created an adorable Valentine tag (for the hubs – shhh… don’t tell him!) using the very awesome Little People – Please Be Seated and Tickets #1 Mixed Up Merchandise Printables! Oh, what fun I had! I guess I was in a tag kind of mood this weekend because I made two! The tag base is a package insert destined for the trash that I rescued because I just knew I could create something with it! I even decorated the back of the tag with bubble wrap stamping and stenciling. UPDATE: Mixed Up Magazine has apparently undergone some changes and their blog has moved, so these links may no longer be viable.

I printed the Little People (boy ‘happiness’ and girl ‘childhood’) on ivory cardstock, fussy cut them and inked the edges. I printed the tickets and sheet of stamps on heavy white paper, fussy cut those and inked the edges. I die cut a stitched heart and inked the edges, and grabbed a Prima flower and the inked the edges of that. Then I put all these elements aside while I prepared the tag base. I cut the top corners off diagonally to make the rectangular package insert tag-shaped, and then covered it with Melange tissue wrap. I applied texture crackle paste with a mini dot stencil, and when that dried, I spritzed pink India ink over the tag and let the ink run.

I positioned the Little People on a segment of zipper layered on some crocheted lace adhered across the top of the sheet of stamps with rounded corners, just like a couch, lol! I adhered Newsprint alphabet letters spelling ‘love U’ and colored them with Memento Rich Cocoa marker. I inked the edges of the tag with Walnut Stain distress ink,  and the final touch was splattered brown acrylic paint mixed with a little water.

Here are a couple more angled photos to show the dimension. I’m really diggin’ how this turned out – I hope my other half loves it as much as I do! ;)

And, finally, here is a pic of the back of the tag which features the bubble wrap stamping and stenciling.

I'm definitely what one could consider a crafting junkie! I love making cards, 3-D projects (especially paper shoes, mini albums and gift bags), mixed media projects, altering items, as well as occasional beading and making jewelry! Fortunately, hubby is very supportive! Life is good! :D
