Embossed watercolor happy birthday (set of 2)

Hello, crafty friends! Happy New Year! The first challenge of the year over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog is live and I’m stoked to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #42 – January Anything Goes! I created a pair of birthday cards featuring gold embossing and watercoloring. All stamps used are from Simon Says Stamp.

This is the panel right after I finished the watercoloring and then right after I trimmed it up. It was so pretty I didn’t want to cut it, lol! That background stamp is one of the most amazing stamps I’ve ever used, and then adding the gold embossing and all that watercolor just made it even more amazing!

I cut the panel in half to create the two cards. I created turquoise card bases and then layered each panel on navy cardstock (bottom edge cut with a lacy edge die) and again on gold metallic cardstock. I stamped the happy birthday sentiment in navy ink across the bottom. This is the first card…

I embellished the inside panel with a leftover strip cut from the embossed and watercolored piece sandwiched between strips of navy and gold metallic cardstock, and then stamped the sentiment in navy ink.

And here is the second card, created the same way but with a different sentiment inside…

And here’s one more peek at the pair – I’m so smitten! Love how they turned out and not sure I want to give them away, lol! ;)

I'm definitely what one could consider a crafting junkie! I love making cards, 3-D projects (especially paper shoes, mini albums and gift bags), mixed media projects, altering items, as well as occasional beading and making jewelry! Fortunately, hubby is very supportive! Life is good! :D

  2. Leslie, thanks so much for the sweet welcoming comment you left on my blog! I’m gobsmacked at the gorgeous background you created. Bravo for getting such good ink to paper contact with a stamp like that, even with a platform it’s difficult. Love the colors and your cards, xoxo
