I love books!

Hi friends! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend and it’s not too awfully hot yet where you are! It’s pretty warm here! I’m happy to share that I’m guest designing over at The Outlawz Challenges in the Songs & Rhymes Challenge! One of my cards was chosen as a favorite a few weeks back so I was asked to be a guestie, and of course I couldn’t say no! Our sponsor is The Paper Nest Dolls and our inspiration is ‘Books’ so I created a super cute bookmark for our middle granddaughter featuring the adorable Back To School Ellie digital image, some distress inking and reverse stenciling. I added green, pink and yellow ribbon to the top which I secured with a green button tied with bamboo cord.

2020_0511006

I printed the image four times, colored one of them with Nuvo alcohol markers and then adhered the other three on the back of the colored one which created some nice dimension. I ran a Memento Tuxedo Black marker around the edge for a finished look. I went with a yellow, pink and green color scheme on the background to pull the colors in from the image. After sponging on the distress ink, I laid a dotted stencil over the bookmark and removed some of the ink through the stencil with a baby wipe. I’ve seen this reverse stenciling technique done lots of times but this is the first time I’ve tried it. What a cool effect – and so easy! I added diagonal strips of cardstock embellished with skinny Washi Tape between the different colors, a computer-generated sentiment at the bottom, and a few pink Dot Sparklers at the top for a little bling.

2020_0511007

And here’s one more look… I’m sure loving how this turned out! Our middle granddaughter will turn six in a few months and I’m hoping this bookmark will encourage her to want to read!

Memories Junk Journal

6/1/20 Winner AND Honorable Mention at Pammie’s Inky Pinkies Challenges!
6/4/20 Top Pick of the Week at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge!

Howdy, friends! Happy Friday – hope you are enjoying your down-slide to the weekend! I’ve popped in with a fun junk journal I finished yesterday afternoon for The Outlawz Twisted Thursdays Challenge where the challenges are always Anything Goes with an optional twist. Our sponsor this month is Vectoria Designs and this time the twist is pearls and lace which goes so well with their ‘shabby chic’ line.

I had the Vectoria Designs Botanical Junk Journal Kit in my digital printable stash so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to use it. I printed the cover and all the pages on 60# Hammermill copy paper which yields the best print quality. I trimmed all the pages and inked the edges with walnut stain ink prior to assembling the journal. I added Washi Tape and paper lace along the spine on the front and back, and then added gold flat-back pearls to the paper lace on the front along with filigree metal pieces on the two outside corners. I attached jute cord with bronze charms to the spine. I adhered a label from the kit to the front and spelled out the word ‘Memories’ in gold glitter alpha stickers, and then added a large paper flower that I ‘dirtied up’ with some antique linen distress ink. I added small pieces of the paper lace to a few of the inside pages to complete the journal.

birthday wishes

5/31/20 Rising Star at A Place To Start!
6/1/20 Top Sprout at A Place To Start!

Hi everyone! Happy Fri-YAY! I’m stoked to be back on the CutCardStock blog today with an awesome DT inspiration project featuring more of the Basis cardstock that was included in our Designer’s Pack! First order of business is to let you know that this post contains affiliate links. This birthday card features the gorgeous blue that I paired with white linen, and it’s a super easy design. I created a standard A2 size card base from Classic Linen Solar White 100# cardstock and then cut a slightly smaller panel from Classic Linen Solar White 80# cardstock.

2020_0323005

I punched ten 3/4″ squares from Basis Medium Blue cardstock and scored each one vertically and horizontally for some interest. I rotated the squares to create diamond shapes and arranged them on a piece of copy paper, centering with a T-Square ruler, and taped them in place with removable tape. Then I flipped them over, added some glue to the back of each one, flipped them over again and adhered them to the Classic Linen Solar White 80# cardstock panel. Using Stick-It adhesive sheet, I adhered the panel to white foam and then to the card base. I added some tiny white flat-back pearls to center of each along with the sentiment stamped in blue ink, die cut and popped up on foam tape.

2020_0323006

I cut the inside panel from Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock and embellished it with a strip of the Basis Medium Blue cardstock adhered down the left side. I stamped the simple sentiment in blue ink.

2020_0323007

One more look… loving how this simple but pretty design turned out! I’m thinking I may CASE my own design soon to create a set of these cards to gift! ;)

Life Behind Bars

Hi friends! Happy Hump Day! I’m thrilled to be on the blog today over at The Project Bin with another crafty tutorial! If you’re interested, take a peek at that HERE. I was provided the amazing Defined stamp set and the Wild Thing stamp set with dies, and created a cool Father’s Day card. Did the title of my post get your attention, lol?!

2020_0519005

This is a super easy design. I cut a panel of blue textured cardstock to cover the front of the card base and added a piece of silver foil cardstock embossed with a diamond plate pattern to the bottom. I ended up adding an additional piece of the blue textured cardstock at the very bottom to tone down the shine a bit… it was bright, lol! I stamped a fun sentiment in black ink and then adhered a stamped and die cut bike and shadow. The final step was adding black Crystal Drops to tie in the black ink and the shadow.

2020_0519006

I embellished the bottom of the inside panel with strips of the textured blue cardstock and embossed silver foil cardstock, stamped the sentiment, and layered the panel on a lighter piece of blue cardstock.

And one more peek… totally loving how this turned out! Of course, it’s for the hubby, but shhhh… don’t tell him! ;)

Joy Mini Treat Box

Hi everyone! Happy Hump Day! I’m not posting on the Simply Crafty SVGs Blog today but have popped in this morning to share an extra DT inspiration project with you, an adorable little treat box created with the free (yep, that’s what I said!) Simply Crafty SVGs Chocolate Squares Box cut file. OMGosh, is this cute or what?!

2020_0202005a

This was truly an easy one to put together. That’s the wonderful thing about Sandy… she takes all the guesswork out of her files. Instructions are straight-forward and easy to understand – in the form of written instructions downloaded with the file or a YouTube video where you can follow along interactively.

2020_0202006a

I cut the base from heavyweight kraft, the side panels from a pretty PhotoPlay red print and the handles from a holly print on the flip side of the red print. I tied a scrap of white and red hounds tooth ribbon through the handle with bamboo cord, and adhered a ‘joy’ sticker from the same PhotoPlay Collection Kit. The possibilities are endless with regard to colors, themes and occasions. I went with a Christmas theme here as Sandy did.

2020_0202007a

One more peek… so loving this! This would be a super cute project to mass produce to take chocolate to co-workers!

Backpack Mini Album

Hi friends! Happy Monday! It’s Memorial Day – please take a moment to remember what this day is really about… not just the start of summer, cooking out and chilling in the pool. Please take a moment to honor the men and women who died serving in the US Military. I’m delighted to be back on the ScraPerfect Blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! First order of business is to let you know that this post contains affiliate links. I have a fun project to share – a backpack mini album!

DSCF6246

We moved last year and when unpacking my studio, I ‘unearthed’ a mini album CD that I bought quite a while ago. I’ve had a lot of fun over the years creating projects from the tutorials on the CD, and this little backpack was one I particularly enjoyed. This is the second one I’ve made. The backpack base and flap, front pocket and inside pages were all cut from heavy kraft cardstock, and all the pieces were adhered with Best Glue Ever and a No-Clog Writing Cap. I embellished the flap and created the front pocket from coordinating patterned paper, also adhered with Best Glue Ever. The front flap and little pocket both have small velcro circle closures. The little pocket on the front holds two journaling cards. The straps are made from brown twill ribbon.

There are eight pages on the inside embellished with more coordinating papers, also adhered with Best Glue Ever. It’s not part of the tutorial but I created two scored pieces of kraft cardstock to cover the twill ribbon knots on the inside of the album to give it a more finished look.

And one more peek… I’m so smitten! Love how this turned out and I can’t wait to gift it!

A special note of thanks

Hello again, everybody! I’m back with one more card I created yesterday afternoon for The Outlawz Challenges! This one is for the Sunday Songs & Rhymes Challenge, and I had the perfect stamp set in mind for “Sing a Song of Flowers!” The Paper Nest Dolls is our sponsor this month, so come on over and play! I created a pretty thank you card – one can never have too many of those on hand! And I’m proud to say that this one is clean and simple AND one layer! Woo-hoo!

2020_0523001

This design would be fantastic to mass produce to create a set. Super simple. Two stamps on the front stamped in one color of ink.

2020_0523002

I added some shimmer overlay to the flower which gave it a watercolor look and really brought it to life. I also ‘dotted’ around the entire image with a white paint marker but it’s barely noticeable in the photo. Looks cool in real life, though! ;)

2020_0523003

I mentioned super simple… two more stamps from the same stamp set on the inside flap stamped in the same color used on the front. ;)

2020_0523004

And one more look… totally loving how this turned out. There’s a lot to be said for something so simple packing such a powerful punch!

for YOU

5/25/20 Honorable Mention at Pammie’s Inky Pinkies Challenges!
5/31/20 Honorable Mention Winner at A Perfect Time To Craft Open Challenge Blog!
6/15/20 Top 3 Winner at The Creative Crafters!

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday! I’m back at it… got all my household chores done yesterday afternoon, and my DT responsibilities were all caught up, so I created a pretty card for The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge. Our sponsor this month is Sherry West Art so come on over and play! Despite the complex appearance, it was quite simple and went together pretty quickly. We were given a gorgeous Tic-Tac-Toe board to use as inspiration, and I focused on the square at the top right going down to the bottom left – using (1) butterfly/bling/white, (2) heart, and (3) flower/green. When I spotted the green in the base of the flower petals (my all-time favorite color) I chose green as the predominant color in my card along with the white.

I cut a square card base and layered green patterned paper cut about 1/16″ smaller than the size of the card base. I heat embossed a line of hearts in white on a piece of green cardstock and adhered it to the bottom of the front panel. I punched a small butterfly and embellished it with tiny green gemstones, and set it aside. I stamped the sentiment in green ink and cut it with a small stitched rectangle die, and set it aside.

2020_0523006

I heat embossed a large flower on vellum (from the under side) using white embossing powder and then gently turned the petals and leaves white by breaking the fibers with a ball stylus. I adhered the image to green cardstock with my Xyron Creative Station and cut it with a stitched circle die. I adhered a thin stitched circle frame on top of the flower and then adhered the entire focal image to a white lacey circle die cut. I adhered the piece to the card front and added the butterfly and sentiment. I finished the front with a few larger green gemstones.

2020_0523007

I stamped the inside sentiment in green ink, embellished the panel with a strip of the green cardstock, and then adhered the panel onto more of the green cardstock.

2020_0523008

And one more peek… love how this turned out! Stamping and embossing on vellum yields such a beautiful result and I don’t do it nearly as often as I should!

Vintage Floral Embellishments & ATCs

6/14/20 DT Favorite at World Wide Open Design Team Monthly Challenge!

Howdy friends! I hope you’re having a Happy Friday! I’m super stoked to share my Ephemoire inspiration project with you this morning. If you haven’t already done so, be sure to head over to the Ephemoire Etsy Shop to check out all the amazing digital printables… there are collage sheets, digital papers, journal kits, clip art and mixed media printables, and the print quality is awesome! This is my last post for the Ephemoire Dream Team and I thank Traci and the rest of the crew for having me along for the past 13 months. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself and it has been such an honor to design with Traci’s gorgeous printables!

I was provided the Heirloom Roses 1″ Circles Collage Sheet to play with this month which I paired with the Vintage Floral 2″ Circles Collage Sheet from my stash to create a couple different kinds of crafty embellishments… domes and buttons! How fun is that?!

For the domes, I printed the 1″ circle collage sheet on 60# Hammermill copy paper and punched out each one with a 1″ circle punch. I adhered a 1″ plain white cardstock circle on the back of each 1″ floral circle and then added a clear epoxy dome over the top of each to create pretty floral embellishments.

For the buttons, I printed the 2″ circle collage sheet on Grafix shrink film and punched out each circle with a 1-3/4″ circle punch. I punched two holes in the center of each 2″ circle with my Big Bite to create the button holes and heated them with my heat tool to shrink them.

I also created some more ATCs for my collection using the gorgeous Vintage Floral Art Cards printable along with the Word Stripz 1 Card and Craft Sentiments, all from my stash. I think I’ve mentioned that I have become an ATC addict, lol!

2020_0421028

I printed the floral art cards on Classic Linen Solar White cardstock and then cut them apart leaving a tiny bit of a white edge. I cut the ATC bases from 110# Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and ran a black marker around the edge of each. I cut eight one-word sentiments that I wanted to use from the sentiment sheet and ran a black marker around the edge of each of those as well. I adhered a sentiment to each floral panel and then a floral panel to each ATC base. Here are shots of each card:

2020_04210202020_04210212020_04210222020_04210232020_04210242020_04210252020_04210262020_0421027

I’m totally loving how these embellishments and ATCs turned out! Can’t wait to use the domes and buttons on some projects, and the ATCs look absolutely amazing in my collector’s notebook! And you guessed it… I’m probably not going to trade any of these ATCs either, lol! ;)

Just A Note vintage notelets (set of 8)

5/23/20 Top Rocker at 613 Avenue Create!
5/31/20 May Winner at The Outlawz Challenges!

Hi peeps! I didn’t want this day to get away from me before finishing the project I started several days ago for the The Outlawz Twisted Thursdays Challenge. This challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional twist and this time the twist is Vintage. Our sponsor this month is Vectoria Designs. I had their free botanical envelope digital printed and just needed to cut, ink and assemble. I was thinking outside the box a bit and used part of the envelope design to make matching notelets.

2020_0520001

To start with, I printed the envelope eight times on Hammermill 32# copy paper and created the envelopes themselves. I inked the edges and added Scor-Tape to the flaps. Then I created top-fold notelets from Twine cardstock and printed the envelope eight more times. I trimmed away all but the back of the envelope on each print to use as the front of the notelets. I adhered them to the notelet bases and inked the edges. I stamped the sentiment in archival ink and added one smoke-colored gemstone to the largest flower.

2020_0520002

I left the inside of each notelet completely blank so there’s plenty of room for a custom message.

2020_0520003

One more look… very happy with how these turned out! Love how they’re the perfect match for the envelopes!
