Hi friends! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend and it’s not too awfully hot yet where you are! It’s pretty warm here! I’m happy to share that I’m guest designing over at The Outlawz Challenges in the Songs & Rhymes Challenge! One of my cards was chosen as a favorite a few weeks back so I was asked to be a guestie, and of course I couldn’t say no! Our sponsor is The Paper Nest Dolls and our inspiration is ‘Books’ so I created a super cute bookmark for our middle granddaughter featuring the adorable Back To School Ellie digital image, some distress inking and reverse stenciling. I added green, pink and yellow ribbon to the top which I secured with a green button tied with bamboo cord.

I printed the image four times, colored one of them with Nuvo alcohol markers and then adhered the other three on the back of the colored one which created some nice dimension. I ran a Memento Tuxedo Black marker around the edge for a finished look. I went with a yellow, pink and green color scheme on the background to pull the colors in from the image. After sponging on the distress ink, I laid a dotted stencil over the bookmark and removed some of the ink through the stencil with a baby wipe. I’ve seen this reverse stenciling technique done lots of times but this is the first time I’ve tried it. What a cool effect – and so easy! I added diagonal strips of cardstock embellished with skinny Washi Tape between the different colors, a computer-generated sentiment at the bottom, and a few pink Dot Sparklers at the top for a little bling.

And here’s one more look… I’m sure loving how this turned out! Our middle granddaughter will turn six in a few months and I’m hoping this bookmark will encourage her to want to read!

Adorable! The reverse stencil technique looks great on your tag and gives me another way to use my stencils! I love that you continued the polka dot theme from the edge of her dress and hairband onto the background. Thanks for joining us at Addicted to Stamps and More! Apologies for the late comment.
