Hey everybody – happy weekend! I hope you have something fun planned in this gorgeous Fall weather! I’m SO happy the weather has cooled off – it’s been pretty warm and humid here. I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a tag shaped slimline card. Since I’m a retro kind of gal, I brought out some amazing retro colors of cardstock (brown and aqua) along with some natural white cardstock (which is off-white) and floral paper to bring this card to life. I have unearthed some more stamps that have never seen the light of day, and used one of the super cute doll stamps from Julie Nutting for this card. They are such a nice size and perfect for slimline cards.

I won’t go into a huge amount of detail here, so be sure to see my tutorial on the CutCardStock blog if you want to know more. Using the paper piecing technique, I stamped and fussy cut all the elements for the Jayla doll, glued them together and set her aside. I cut the 3-1/2″ x 9-3/4″ card base from the Natural White cardstock and chopped off the top corners to make a tag shape. I used the Sizzix-Tim Holtz Retro Repeat Thinlits to cut the design into the Lessebo Coffee Bean panel, then adhered a piece of Pop Tone Sno Cone behind it and then to the card base.
All that was left to do on the front was stamp the sentiment from the Keep It Simple Back To Basics Birthday Sentiments stamp set in Versafine Onyx Black ink and then adhere the Jayla doll and a bow die cut (which I cut from Vanilla Bean Brown cardstock with a Scrapbook.com Bow Toppers Shape Die). I did add a few Stampin’ Up! Iridescent Pearls to the flower centers on Jayla’s shirt.

I cut the inside panel from the Natural White cardstock, stamped another sentiment from the Keep It Simple Birthday Sentiments stamp set in Memento Espresso Truffle ink, and layered the panel on Pop Tone Sno Cone cardstock. I added a layered border across the bottom of the panel for a little interest.
