Life Is Sweet shaker cards

Hey everybody, Happy Tuesday! I’m delighted to share an awesome Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you today. You may remember that our new Shaker Kits debuted on the website back in early August. We have a Facebook Live craft-along planned for October 5th to celebrate World Cardmaking Day where several members of our design team will demo the Life Is Sweet and Freshly Brewed kits. These are available as a bundle to purchase prior to the FB Live if you’re interested in joining in! But in the meantime, I’m sharing two cards I made with the Life Is Sweet kit. I’ll share the other two cards I made with the Freshly Brewed kit on the day of the Live.

The card bases, adhesive foam, acetate, frames, ephemera, and shaker bits are all included in the kit. I made my cards a little different than the samples on the package. I added Back To Basics Mango and Rose Enamel Dots to the center of the flowers on the front of my first card.

And this is my second card. I have a confession to make… I messed up the scalloped frame included in the kit so I had to go to Plan B… I die cut another frame from a paper in the Back To Basics Mango Collection Pack using a die in the KIS Shaker Frames A2 Frames #3. I honestly don’t think anybody would ever notice but I wanted to share that the A2 Frames work with this kit! These cards turned out so cute and the only extra ingredient needed to make them is adhesive. I used two kinds of double-sided tape and some small foam pads for dimension. I love that everything else is included!

Scrappy hugs,

Fall vibes

Hey everybody! I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend! I’m stoked to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you today that I created with our NEW Nuts About Fall Collection! This tented easel card is fun to make and really packs a punch! And it couldn’t be simpler – cardstock size is 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 4-1/4″ and 8-1/2″, making the folded card 4-1/4″ square. Front layering panel is 4″ x 4″ and bottom layering panel is 2-1/4″ x 4″ with a white layering panel for the inside cut at 4″ x 4″. Boom. Easy.

The card base was cut from CutCardStock Lessebo Coffee Bean cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating prints in the Nuts About Fall 6×9 Collection Pack. I used a Wavy Borders die to cut a panel for the truck to park on. The truck was stamped on patterned paper along with the front sentiment, pumpkin and acorns on Solar White cardstock (all from the Collection Stamps, stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink), and cut with the coordinating Outline Dies.

I colored the pumpkin, acorns and a few elements on the truck with markers in my stash and popped some of them up on foam squares. I cut the sentiment for the bottom flap from a sheet in the Collection Pack and popped it up on foam squares as well to use as the ‘stopper.’ The final touch was adding a few Back To Basics Mango Enamel Dots.

I cut the inside panel from Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a leftover strip of patterned paper used on the bottom flap. I stamped an inside sentiment and leaf from the Collection Stamps in Rich Cocoa ink which completed the card. Oh, I love this!

Scrappy hugs,

Love Bus

Hey everybody, happy Wednesday! It’s the first week of September already and I have to ask just where has this year gone?! It’s crazy how fast the time is flying by! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a super cute box card. I used the Love Bus Box Card SVG cut file from My Scrap Chick along with my Cricut Explore Air 2 and quite a variety of our cardstock. Us Baby Boomers all have a lil’ hippie in us and this turned out so stinkin’ cute I can’t stand it! What a fun way to say hello to a friend!

I cut the card base and inserts from Cougar 100# White 12×12 cardstock. I used Basis Coral, Pop Tone Tangy Orange, Pop Tone Blue Raspberry, Poodle Skirt Pink, Cougar White, and Pink Tutu for the flowers. I also used Basis Coral for the LOVE word outlines on the inserts but unfortunately it’s no longer in stock. There are other coral cardstock options that could be used instead.

Next, I used Wild Salmon for the bus side panels and two flowers, and Poodle Skirt Pink for the LOVE word. Additionally, I used Lava Stone Gray and White for the head lights, Pop Tone Red Hot for the tail lights, and Jet Stream Blue for the windows. And finally, I used Pop Tone Black Licorice, Lava Stone Gray and White for the wheels, along with Wild Salmon and White for the signature panel on the back.

As I always say, the assembly is the most fun, and I totally enjoyed putting this box card together. Here are angled shots of the front and back – and I love all the details they’ve included!

Using the Keep It Simple Bizzy Hands Peace Gnomie stamp set, I stamped the peace sign (colored with alcohol markers) and sentiment on the back panel in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Like all box cards, this folds flat for mailing and fits in an A7 envelope cut from a gingham paper in the Simple Stories Wood & Gingham paper pad.

Red, White & Boom!

Hey everybody! I hope you’re having a great weekend! Has it cooled off any at all where you live? Our Summer out here in SW Colorado really hasn’t been too bad; we haven’t even reached 100 degrees which I consider a good thing! Today has been super busy on my blog but I have one more project to share – a side accordion panel card created for Keep It Simple using our Stars & Stripes Collection released in June. I really like this easy fun fold (and have made several like it) although it has a few different names depending on where you see it. I’ve watched videos by Lisa Curcio and Sharon Armstrong although there are quite a few others on YouTube.

Here are the mini instructions: Cut the 5-1/2″ x 11″ card base from CutCardStock Lessebo Cherry Red cardstock, score at 1-3/4″, 3-1/2″, 5-1/4″ and 7″, and fold on all the score lines. Cut a smaller folded piece from Cherry Red at 3″ x 6″ and score at 3″. From coordinating prints in the Stars & Stripes 6×9 Collection Pack, cut three 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ panels for the left side, a 3-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ panel for the right side, and two 2-3/4″ square panels for the smaller folded piece. Cut one additional 2-3/4″ square panel from white cardstock for a sentiment. Embellish as desired.

I fashioned a bow from the Back To Basics Stars & Stripes Ribbon using a little wooden bow maker my awesome friend gifted me last Christmas, and added gnome and sentiment die cut pieces to the front. I stamped a sentiment on the white panel and added another die cut piece. I added several stars from the Back To Basics Stars & Stripes Enamel Shapes, which completed the card.

Scrappy hugs,

Thanks For Being My Friend

Howdy peeps! I hope you’re having a great weekend AND you’re ready for a brand new month! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Christmas [or not] BINGO Challenges and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for CBC #9 – Anything Goes with Featured BINGO Card. I created what I’m calling an upright Z-fold which features the Art by Mi Ran Fairy Lily stamp set sold by Keep It Simple. This fold has characteristics of a Z-fold, an accordion fold and a reverse easel card I made last year. I know… it’s a strange combination but I like how it turned out! :D

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Cougar 100# Smooth White cardstock and layering panels from dotted patterns in the Keep It Simple Royal 12×12 Collection Pack. I stamped the Art by Mi Ran Fairy Lily image on Solar White cardstock, colored it with alcohol markers, and cut it with a Keep It Simple Stitched Rectangles Nested Die. I cut a slightly larger stitched rectangle from CutCardStock Bright Gold Foil and layered them together. I stamped the sentiment from the same Fairy Lily stamp set on Cougar 80# Smooth White cardstock. I cut the rounded half with a Keep It Simple Stitched Circles Nested Die and fussy cut the lower half, and popped it up on foam squares to tuck the focal image panel under.

I cut a small panel from Cougar Smooth White, embellished it with a leftover strip of the small dotted pattern from the Royal Collection Pack and stamped a sentiment from the same Fairy Lily stamp set. I’ve included an angled view so you can see the construction.

Hi friends! I hope your weekend is going going along nicely and you’re doing something fun! Seems the weekends pass by just as fast as the week days! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Birthstone Challenges and I’m delighted to share my DT inspiration project for BSC #11 – Sapphire & Opal + optional Friendship. I have several Spellbinders 3D Vignette die sets in my stash that have never seen the light of day and this is one of them. I used both sapphire and opal colors to make this fun friendship card that folds flat for mailing. I love that!

Using the Spellbinders 3D Vignette Hot Air Balloon die set, I cut the balloon pieces from CutCardStock Stardream Metallic Sapphire, Silk Glitter Opulent Opal and Bright Silver Foil cardstock. I cut the base, balloon reinforcement pieces and the clouds from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. Using dies in the same set, I cut the sentiment strip from Stardream Metallic Sapphire and Bright Silver Foil cardstock.

This was so much fun to assemble and it was amazing watching it come to life! I can attest that this die set is a definite must-have for your crafty stash!

Sending Smiles and Sunshine

Hey everybody! I hope you’re having a fantastic day! Our new challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog launched this morning and I’m tickled to share my inspiration project for LTCCB #82 – Anything Goes! I’m always making fun folds and created a side panel pillar card that my friend, Debbie, over at Secrets To Stamping shared on her blog a while back. I’ve made several of these and it’s definitely a fun one. I used some of the brightest Doodlebug Design papers in my stash which happen to be some of the oldest, lol! Sometimes I have difficulty cutting into papers that I really like and yet other times, I tear right into them! Doesn’t make any sense! ;)

I cut the card base and a layering panel from CutCardStock Astrobrights Lunar Blue cardstock. The remaining layering panels were cut from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White, CutCardStock Pop Tone Limeade and Doodlebug Design Nifty Notions 6×6 papers. I ran the Limeade panel through the Big Shot with the Lifestyle Crafts Polka Dots embossing folder.

I added a piece of ephemera (from the Spellbinders Wild Hello June 2021 Kit of the Month) for the front sentiment which I cut with a Keep It Simple Stitched Circles Nested Die and embellished with a bow fashioned from Doodlebug Design Lily White Doodle Twine. The finishing touch was adding several Eyelet Outlet 5mm turquoise gemstones.

I cut the back panel from Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a strip of the colorful plaid Nifty Notions paper used on the front. Using a die from the Spellbinders Wild Hello June 2021 Kit of the Month, I die cut the birthday sentiment and added a fussy-cut flower, also from the Nifty Notions paper used on the front.

Scrappy hugs,

Yay, it’s your bday!

Howdy peeps! It’s Saturday and I hope you have something fun planned this weekend and you’ll be able to stay cool while doing it! I have one more awesome ScrapbookingStore DT inspiration project to share with you created with the August 2024 Scrapbook Kit with Upgrades. I am totally digging all the papers, stickers and items in the upgrades this month… the colors and coordination are amazing!

There are a gazillion versions of the slider card out there and I’ve been looking at them on Pinterest and YouTube. I’ve made several over the years with a hidden message pop-up feature, penny sliders with tracks, and waterfall cards to name a few. The version I’m sharing today is slightly different in that it’s flat and won’t require extra postage to mail. I used papers and stickers from the sticker sheet along with chipboard bits from the upgrades. I’m including instructions in the Freebies section of my blog HERE if you’re interested in learning how to make this card.

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Raspberry Ice cardstock along with several arched die cuts (in graduating sizes) cut from coordinating papers in the kit with the Scrapbook.com Nested A2 Arches die set. I embellished the front panels with stickers from the collection and chipboard bits from the upgrades. I used Keep It Simple Back To Basics Mango Ribbon tied with Doodlebug Design Lily White Twine for the pull mechanism. Like the other versions, as you pull upwards, you expose a hidden message underneath.

I added another arched die cut to the back with a sentiment from the sticker sheet in the kit.

It’s a dog’s life

Hey everybody! Happy Monday – I hope you had a great weekend! Today is World Photography Day and I’m sharing a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project featuring a photo of our pup and items from our Max and Daisy Collection to celebrate the day! This flip flap shutter card is all about our girl, Tuffy, who will be a year old on October 13th. She’s a spoiled Forkie (Frenchie + Yorkie) and the cutest pup ever! I discovered this fun fold online several months ago, watched several videos, and settled on THIS video to learn how to make it. I’ve added the instructions to the Freebie section of my blog HERE if you’d like to learn how to make it. Despite it’s complex look, it really is not that hard. I enjoyed watching it come together!

I cut the card base and flaps from CutCardStock Lessebo Bubble Gum Pink cardstock, and layering panels from the Keep It Simple Max and Daisy Collection Pack and Back To Basics Rose 12×12 Collection Pack. I printed the photo of Tuffy on glossy photo paper, trimmed it and cut it into three sections. I chose a sentiment from the ephemera in the Max and Daisy Collection Pack, and added a mini puffy sticker and a half-circle pull tab to the left side of the frame. I created this using a Stitched Circles Nested Die that I cut in half and added letters from the Clementine Collection Stickers.

I added two more sentiments and a ball from the ephemera sheet in the Max and Daisy Collection Pack, which completed the card. Here are angled and overhead shots with the flaps open.

Scrappy hugs,

beach Vibes

Hi friends! A big ol’ Happy Friday to you! I’m thrilled to share another ScrapbookingStore DT inspiration project with you today created with the awesome July 2024 Scrapbook Kit with Upgrades. I love all the coordinating beachy prints in this month’s collection and created a faux center step card featuring a journaling card included in the patterned papers. It’s totally amazing watching a simple card like this one come to life in just a few minutes! My inspiration for this fun fold came from Beccy Muir’s blog HERE when I visited a while back but I made some adjustments to the dimensions to make it an A2 size.

I cut the two pieces for the card base from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating prints in the collection. I trimmed a journaling card for the front and fussy cut a sentiment and seashell from other journaling cards which I popped up on foam squares. The finishing touch on the front was the addition of a few gemstones and pearls.

I cut the inside panel from Solar White cardstock, embellished it with a leftover piece of patterned paper used on the front, and added a clear sticker from the upgrades. I adhered a panel of patterned paper to the back to give it a more finished look.
