you drive me BATTY!

Hi everyone! Fall is my favorite season and I’m so happy it’s finally here! A new challenge has launched over at the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #102 – Frightfully Fun! We’re being sponsored this month by SheepSki Designs, Oddball Art Co. and Bugaboo Digi Stamps, so come on over and play with us for a chance to win an awesome prize!

I used the absolutely adorable Creepy Cute Bats Stamp with Sentiment from Oddball Art Co. for my fun card… using ALL the Halloween colors!

2017_09040001a

I created a fun scalloped card base with purple and yellow patterned paper on black cardstock, and used some of my favorite stitched dies to frame the image in orange and green.

2017_09040002a

I cut the inside panel with a stitched die and embellished it with leftover strips of cardstock used on the front. I stamped a Halloween sentiment on a scrap of white cardstock which I trimmed to fit the inside panel and stamped an accessory bat. :)

Watercolor thanks

Hi everyone! I’m back with another project this morning… you know how it is on the first of the month, lol! A new challenge has launched this morning over at the Mix It Up Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #6 – Anything Goes + Watercoloring! Remember, the technique twist is optional and not required to play in our challenges! I created a bright thanks card using the Rubbernecker Bouquet stamp set and Sending You Thanks sentiment stamp. This is my first-ever project using Rubbernecker stamps and I think I’m in love, lol!

2017_07090011a

My watercoloring (using Brushos) turned out a little darker than I intended but I like it! I can see more projects using this gorgeous stamp set in my foreseeable future, lol! I cut the panel with a My Favorite Things Stitched Mini Scallop Rectangle die and splattered some revived yellow watercolor over it before adhering a Simon Says Stamp ‘thanks’ die cut in three stacked layers.

2017_07090012a

I also die cut a piece of white fun foam to pop up the panel when adhering it to the card base. I finished the front with a narrow strip of black along the left side the panel and few scattered sequins. When I showed my hubby the finished card, he asked if I ‘messed up’ with the yellow! LOL! He thinks he is so funny! ;)

2017_07090013a

I embellished the inside with a couple narrow strips of black cardstock and stamped the sentiment in black.

Snowman Coasters (set of 4)

** 10/31/17 Best Technique Winner at Classic Design Team Open Challenge! **

Hello, my crafty friends! Here’s to hoping you have a great week coming up and the weather is beginning to feel nice where you are! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #15 – October Anything Goes! I created an adorable set of snowman coasters and cannot tell you how much fun I had creating them! It’s been a couple years since I’ve stamped any coasters so I figured it time to pull out my stash of pulpboard blanks and have some inky fun!

I stamped on Blockheads round coaster blanks with a set of Blockheads stamps, colored the images with Spectrum Noir markers and heat set them (a couple times) with my heat tool.

2017_05280001a

These really are easy to make and hold up well to cold or hot beverages. If the cold beverage sweats, the ink won’t run because it has been heat set… just let the coaster dry. If allowed to get wet, though, they won’t last nearly as long as they will if you keep ’em dry! ;)

2017_05280002a

These are so stinkin’ cute and don’t require a long list of supplies to make! Love, love, love how these turned out! So much fun and such a neat little gift idea!

** 10/15/17 Top 3 at Monochrome Magic! **

Hello, my crafty friends! Happy October 1st… can you believe it?! Only two and a half more months and the jolly fellow in the red suit will be sliding down our chimneys, lol! I’m still guesting over at Your Scrapbook Place and I’m happy to share my GD project for the October Anything Goes challenge going live this morning. We’re being sponsored by the Ike’s Art this month so come on over and play!

I chose the gorgeous Rose Stitch image for my thank you card. This is one of those images that doesn’t even need to be colored, which made the monochromatic black and white color scheme come to life rather quickly. I cut the image with a stitched scallop square die and popped it up on black Foamies foam.

2017_09210001a

I just got the Sunny Studio Cute As A Button stamp and die set and what a perfect compliment to this amazing image! I love it when that happens, lol! I stamped the sentiment in black, die cut a couple buttons and a needle, and adhered them around the image.

2017_09210002a

I created a matching panel for the inside and stamped the sentiment. This was a super fun and easy card, and I’m really loving how it turned out!

Hero Arts merry Christmas

Hi everyone! Well, the month of September is almost history and we’ve begun seeing Christmas decorations in the stores. The jolly man in the red suit will be sliding down chimneys in the blink of an eye, lol! Today is my post day on the a2z Scrapbooking blog and I’m happy to share a DT inspiration project using several Hero Arts products – merry Stamp & CutClear Embossing Powder and Clear Gemstones. I created a festive patchwork Christmas card and my inspiration once again came from my friend, Dawn. ;)

Before I get to my project details, quite a few of the Hero Arts stamp sets and dies have sold out in the a2z Scrapbooking store and unfortunately this Stamp & Cut set was one of them. Yep, it happened again, lol! I work ahead and had this card made prior to this stamp set selling out, but I have good news – you can special order it at no extra cost when you order your other Hero Arts stamps from a2Z Scrapbooking!

I created the patchwork squares with scraps of green and red patterned paper layered on white cardstock and popped up on white Foamies foam. I have soooo many scraps and it is always a great feeling to use some of them up, lol!

2017_08040006a

I die cut the word ‘merry’ several times in white cardstock and also red cardstock adhered to Stick It sheet, and layered them with the red showing on the bottom for a shadow effect. I stamped the word “Christmas” beneath the die cut in green ink and then again in Versamark using the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform, and embossed it in clear embossing powder. I discovered this trick several years ago when I didn’t have a specific color of embossing powder I wanted, and because of that, the only colors of embossing powder that I buy these days are the ‘metal’ colors (gold, silver, platinum, etc.)! I colored a large clear gemstone with Spectrum Noir DR2 to use as an embellishment on one of the patchwork squares, and added a strip of tiny red rhinestones from my stash.

2017_08040007a

For the inside, I stamped the sentiment and some stars in green and layered the panel on red cardstock. For a little shimmer, I colored the stars with a crystal clear overlay sparkle marker. I really love how this turned out!

2017_08040008a

I’d love to enter this Christmas card in a couple challenges:
Dream Valley Challenge: #164 – One For The Girls

adulting

Hi everyone! I’m popping in this morning to share a sneak peek… a card I created using some amazing printable ephemera that you’ll be able to get on October 1st! Mixed Up Magazine is offering up a free Printables sheet with Issue 9 that will go on sale on October 1st! OMG, there are so many pieces of awesome funky vintage printable ephemera on this sheet that you won’t want to miss! If you’re not already a Mixed Up Magazine subscriber, just order Issue 9 and this awesome printable sheet is yours! I’ve used every one of these amazing pieces on my card, plus two sentiments from the Snarky Words Printables. UPDATE: Mixed Up Magazine has apparently undergone some changes and their blog has moved, so these links may no longer be viable.

2017_09210004a

I printed the entire free Printables sheet, fussy cut each piece of ephemera, and inked all the edges. I also cut two sentiments from Snarky Words Printables and inked them as well. Then I began laying everything out the way I wanted.

2017_09210005a

Adhering everything down is always the most fun part to me. I adhered some of the pieces flat and popped some of them up on foam tape for a little dimension. I wrinkled some. Whatever looked good in the moment, lol!

2017_09210006a

I finished the card front by splattering watered-down Walnut Stain distress ink all over (protecting the Little People with a scrap of paper) and then I smeared some distress grit paste in a few places with a small spatula.

2017_09210007a

I left the inside blank to write a custom message. Of course I inked the edges of all these pieces as well.

Happy to enter this fun card in a few challenges:

stand out from the crowd Canvas

** 10/15/17 Mixed Media Challenge Winner at Happy Little Stampers! **

Hello, crafty friends! Happy Monday! Today is my Mixed Up Magazine post day and I’m beyond excited to share my debut inspiration project! I created a hot pink canvas with a splash of bright orange featuring elements from the awesome Little People Emily and Friends and Thoughts Mixed Up Merchandise Printables! An inky good time was had by all, lol!

I’m sharing the finished project here on my blog, so jump on over to Mixed Up Magazine to see my step-by-step tutorial. I used the back side of the canvas because I wanted to feature the little angel in the open area of the frame. I used gesso, texture paste over a floral stencil, alcohol inks, Gold Perfect Pearls, more alcohol inks, texture stamps, Prills and a splatter of watered-down gesso around the frame. UPDATE: Mixed Up Magazine has apparently undergone some changes and their blog has moved, meaning our tutorial posts have been deleted and these links may no longer be viable.

2017_09180010a

I adhered a distressed, stamped, inked and wrinkled piece of lightweight cardstock to the back of the opening. The little angel was fashioned with elements from the Little People Emily and Friends Printables that I added to a chipboard dress form that I “did up” with crackle paint, alcohol ink, texture stamps, bling and a scrap of ribbon. The sentiment is from the Enjoy Your Thoughts Words Printables, which I inked and wrinkled.

2017_09180008a

A seam binding bow tucked into an assortment of paper flowers with a tiny clothes hanger complete the lower left corner.

2017_09180009a

I popped the little angel into the opening by attaching her to two dimensional ‘boxes’ fashioned from 120# cardstock.

2017_09180011a

A metal pop-top embellishment with a large rhinestone balances the design. Seems like it’s been forever since I created a canvas and I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out! Be sure to visit Mixed Up Magazine to see my step-by-step tutorial!

Hero Arts Coffee Card

** 9/20/17 Top 3 at Fab ‘n’ Funky Challenges! **

Hi everyone! I’m popping in today to share a quick card I made for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop which started yesterday and will run through Friday, September 22nd. Be sure to check it out – there are tons and tons of prizes! You can’t win if you don’t link up! ;)

2017-fall-hop

a2z Scrapbooking is a sponsor again this time so I used the fun Hero Arts Caffeine Fix Digital Kit to create my CAS all-digital card. I don’t do many of these but sometimes it’s just fun to let the imagination soar! This idea hit me while I was putting some clothes in the washer (why then, I don’t know…) so I grabbed my laptop and a card was born rather quickly, lol!

2017_09160001a

Clean and simple. Super easy. I brought in a coffee bean from the digital kit which I resized and copied 11 more times across the bottom. I added a brown horizontal line above the coffee beans, and then brought in the brown coffee word image from the kit and lined it up on the right. I cut the panel 1/4″ smaller than the card base, colored the coffee beans, put some brown Foamies foam under it and adhered it to the card base.

2017_09160002a

The image on the inside is also from the kit. Super fun! :)

2017_09160003a

Excited to enter this card into the following challenges:

Hero Arts Oldtimer’s Happy Birthday

Hi everyone! It’s already the middle of September… another few weeks closer to Christmas, lol! I’m posting today on the a2z Scrapbooking blog and I’m happy to share a DT inspiration project using several Hero Arts products – Irreverent Birthday Messages stamp set, blessings Stamp & Cut, Intense Black ink, and White Embossing Powder. I created a fun 3-D birthday card featuring birthday sentiments for ‘old’ people as well as a pop-up instant one-step camera from back in the day! Remember those?!

Before I get to my project details, quite a few of the Hero Arts stamp sets have sold out in the a2z Scrapbooking store and unfortunately the Irreverent Birthday Messages stamp set was one of those that sold out. I work ahead and had this card made prior to this stamp set selling out. Seems this has been happening to me a lot lately, lol! But I have good news – you can special order it at no extra cost when you order your other Hero Arts stamps from a2Z Scrapbooking!

The stamped image and sentiments on the front are all from the Hero Arts Irreverent Birthday Messages stamp set.

2017_09040004a

I stamped a genuine (from the heart) sentiment above the camera from the Hero Arts blessings Stamp & Cut set in Hero Arts Black Intense ink.

2017_09040005a

This was probably one of the most fun cards I’ve ever created. I had one of these cameras and I’m pretty sure I chuckled throughout the entire process of making this, lol!

2017_09040006a

I went back to the Hero Arts Irreverent Birthday Messages stamp set for the sentiment on the ‘instant camera picture’ which I embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. Love how this turned out! :)

Hero Arts L-O-V-E

** 10/10/17 Top Pick at Sweet Stampers Challenge Blog! **

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday – hope you have a fantastic week coming up!  Today is my post day on the a2z Scrapbooking blog and I’m happy to share a DT inspiration project using Hero Arts Love by Lia and Hero Arts Romeo & Juliet stamp sets! I created a shabby chic Valentine with lots of layers and lots of ink!

I had an absolute blast creating this card. I wanted a few red heat-embossed elements and don’t have any red embossing powder, so the L-O-V-E sentiment and three hearts from the Love by Lia stamp set were stamped in Versamark over top of red ink then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. This is an awesome trick you can use to make it appear like you have virtually any color embossing powder!

2017_08080001a

I started with a watercolored background using Scarlet and Brilliant Red Brusho powders. Then I went through a couple ephemera packs and pulled out quite a few elements that I wanted to use, distressed the edges, and started laying them down.

2017_08080002a

When I was happy with the placement, I started adhering the pieces. Some were adhered flat and some have foam tape under them for a little dimension. I fussy cut the embossed hearts and added a game spinner for the butterfly body, a twine bow and a strip of fabric roses. I splattered watered-down Walnut Stain distress ink over the entire panel and added some Crystal Drops. LOTS to feast the eyes upon, lol!

2017_08080003a2017_08080004a2017_08080005a2017_08080006a

I stamped a sentiment and more hearts from the Romeo & Juliet stamp set on the inside panel, hand-drew a couple wavy lines down the left side and distressed the edges, then layered the panel on black cardstock. Really loving how this turned out!
