be authentic

Hi friends! Happy Friday and Happy New Year! I hope you’ve had a most awesome week! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #45- Anything Goes + Bleaching! I created an inspirational card using the bleaching technique along with heat embossing. Come on and play with us – don’t be afraid of using bleach on your project… it’s fun!

Leslie

This is the third or fourth card I’ve created over the years featuring this awesome stamp and the bleaching technique. My inspiration always comes from a past project from seven or eight years ago when I hosted my first challenge while on the Blockheads Paper Arts design team. Blockheads is sadly out of business now, but my challenge featured the bleaching technique and I did a stepped-out tutorial on the blog. One wouldn’t ordinarily think of using bleach on a craft project, but when carefully used on dark cardstock, the results will amaze you! I went with a black card base here because I thought the shimmer papers would look awesome against the black.

I stamped the moth in Versamark and heat embossed it in black. Using a Fantastix brush point tip applicator, I very carefully ‘bleached’ all the parts of the moth inside the embossed areas. I let it air dry (which didn’t take very long) and then colored the moth with water-based markers and Clear Star shimmer pen. I cut the image with a stitched oval die and layered it onto three dotted rectangle die cuts in graduating sizes. I added black gemstones and a Tim Holtz sentiment sticker.

I embellished the inside panel with some leftover cardstock strips and added another sentiment sticker.

And here’s another peek… really loving how this turned out!

Hi everyone! A very Happy New Year to you! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our first challenge of the year is live over at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m stoked to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #141 – Anything Goes! Starting the year off with a bang with a fun fold! Yep, that’s how I roll, lol! You know I love me some fun folds! This is a triple cube card that’s 4″ x 6″ and folds flat for mailing. I found this one on Pinterest this past summer and unfortunately don’t know who to credit, but they sure took the craft world by storm! Lots of fun!

I created this card for our newest grandson whose nursery theme is astronauts and space, so these sweet Bugaboo digital images were just the ticket! I printed them on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, colored them with alcohol markers and then die cut them with stitched dies. They were adhered to stitched square die cuts on each surface of the boxes. I also used one of Lozzy’s Star Splash Mixed Media digital papers for some extra-terrestrial goodness! ;)

Here are shots of the back. The one I found on Pinterest had a plain back so I gave this one my twist with another martian die cut, stamped sentiment, punched hearts and a Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock block for signing.

And one more look… folded flat for mailing. Totally loving how this turned out! So stinkin’ cute!

Merry Christmas

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you’ve had a fabulous week! It’s the first of the month and you know what that means – lots of posts – so stay tuned! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for MLCCB #30 – January Anything Christmas Goes! I created a pretty pop-up music-themed Christmas card! I’ve seen a ton of piano cards on Pinterest and I really liked the concept so I designed my own version. My first card on the books for this year’s Christmas card stash! I know what you’re thinking… and there’s no such thing as ‘too early’ lol!

I cut 11 white piano keys from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock and eight narrow black piano keys from American Crafts black cardstock for each piano top (one for the front and one for the inside) and assembled them. For definition, I ran a black marker around each white piano key before adhering. I die cut and assembled the poinsettia. I have to say that I’ve had the best time with this poinsettia die set… I’ve created several cards with it and it’s definitely one of my favorites! I adhered a panel of sheet music to red cardstock to use on the front. For the final step, I heat embosssed the Merry Christmas sentiment in white on red cardstock, and adhered it to the top of the piano top with dimensional foam tape. I then adhered all the elements to the front of the card base.

I stamped the inside sentiment in red ink and then adhered the pop-up mechanism cut from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock to the center of the inside of the card base. I then adhered the piano top to the pop-up mechanism. I included an angled shot below so you can see how easy the construction is – very basic.

And here’s one more peek… I’m absolutely smitten with how this turned out! One of my favorite ever cards!

You’re a classic!

Hi friends! Happy Friday and Happy New Year! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! Our challenge is live this morning over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m happy to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #54 – January Anything Goes! I was commissioned to make some Father’s Day cards and I used some very cool digital vintage vehicle images and papers for these clean and simple designs.

I made one card in landscape orientation and the other in portrait orientation, using brown and ivory for one, and CutCardStock Basis Green cardstock and ivory for the other. I printed the images on linen cardstock, cut them with stitched rectangle dies and adhered them to coordinating cardstock. I printed the digital paper on linen cardstock as well, and trimmed pieces to go across the bottom of the card fronts.

The digital sentiments on the front and inside are the same on each card, printed on smooth ivory cardstock. I embellished each inside panel with the gingham paper used on the front, adhered the panels to coordinating cardstock and adhered them to the inside of the card bases.

And one more look at each… loving how these turned out!

You Are In My Prayers

Hello again, peeps! Well, I thought I was finished posting for the year but decided to create one more card this afternoon to enter into The Outlawz Festive Fridays Challenge! Our sponsor is Fred She Said, and participants have the option to choose from New Year, Christmas, Thinking of You and Anything Goes themes – and I chose the Thinking of You theme this time. I created a triple cube fun fold with an inspirational feel that I thought would be a good ending to 2020. I love me some fun folds and this is actually the second one of these I’ve made – you’ll see the first one on January 1st!

Despite it’s looks, this really is a super easy card to create. I reached for some double-sided papers in teals with a floral pattern on one side and stripes on the other which I paired with light and dark teal cardstock. I added an iridescent gemstone to the center of each flower on the panels for a little interest.

COVID came to mind while I was creating this card so I chose this sentiment that would be appropriate for someone who isn’t feeling well or is dealing with a sick family member or dear friend, or for someone who has lost a family member or friend. It has been a horrible year and I really hope 2021 is a better one for everybody.

And one more peek… flattened out and ready to put into an envelope. I love that this folds flat for mailing!

Congrats!

Happy Hump Day, friends! I’m stoked to be back on the CutCardStock blog today with an awesome DT inspiration project featuring more of the Stardream Metallic cardstock that was included in our Designer’s Pack – which happens to be on sale this month so be sure to get some! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I created a pretty ‘all occasion’ congrats card that would be great for just about any occasion calling for a congratulations!

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from Classic Crest Solar White 110# cardstock along with an inside layering panel and a stitched scallop yoke from Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock. Then I cut a front layering panel, a medium stitched flag die cut and a 1/4″ embellishing strip for the inside from Stardream Metallic Silver 105# cardstock. And finally I cut a large stitched flag die cut, a congrats die cut, an inside layering panel and a 1/8″ embellishing strip from Stardream Metallic Sapphire 105# cardstock. I adhered the stitched scallop yoke to the top of the silver front layering panel, leaving the bottom center of the yoke free of adhesive. I adhered the medium silver stitched flag to the large blue stitched flag, applied adhesive to the back side of the flags and slid them underneath the very bottom edge of the yoke. I adhered the congrats die cut to the flags and then embellished the yoke with three iridescent gemstones. I’m calling this a yoke because it reminds me of a yoke on a child’s dress. Did you or any of your kids ever have those dresses with the ruffled yokes at the top?!

I embellished the inside panel with the strips of silver and blue cardstock, stamped the sentiment in blue ink and then layered the panel on the blue cardstock.

And one more look… love having cards in my stash that can be used for more than one occasion!

Frequent Blog Visitor vs. Stalker

I’m sitting here smiling. I’ve been debating with myself for several months about whether or not I should publicly thank my frequent blog visitor who is actually bordering on stalker, lol!

I’m one who regularly checks my blog stats – and this person, without fail, visits many times every day and looks at my older posts. Random older posts. Accessing my posts via my tag cloud which could be considered a bit odd.

So… to my frequent blog visitor (and you know who you are) – thanks for visiting! I hope you’re getting the inspiration you’re looking for! :)

Winter Cardinal Diorama

1/1/21 Top 3 Winner at Craft-Dee Bowz!
1/2/21 Winner at A Bit More Time To Craft Extra Challenge!
1/5/21 Top 3 at Creative Inspirations!

Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend! It has taken me a couple days to create but check out this pretty Winter Cardinal Diorama that I’m entering into The Outlawz Festive Fridays Challenge! Our sponsor this month is Fred She Said and the themes to choose from in this new challenge are New Year, Christmas, Thinking of You and Anything Goes. I chose the Christmas theme – and I know I’m a little too late for this Christmas but I’m one home decor project ahead for next Christmas, lol!

I love creating 3-D projects, and I thoroughly enjoyed this one! I’ve created quite a few diorama cards over the years and when I saw this Stampendous WindowRama 3-D Chipboard Kit, I just had to have it! There are enough front, back and side pieces (including the large snowflakes) in the kit to make five stand-alone projects. I have lots of goodies in my Christmas craft stash to create scenes for the inside, so I’m sure you’ll be seeing a few more of these! Handmade seasonal home decor always makes great gifts that will be treasured for years to come! ;)

I assembled the box and painted it with white gesso, along with the snowflake. When they were dry, I sprayed Tattered Angels It’s Blue Glimmer Mist in short spurts, added blue glitter and then white glitter, and then applied Krylon fixative so the glitter wouldn’t fall off. I then sprayed Tattered Angels Tarnished Silver Glimmer Mist in a few spots. I arranged the pine bough, pine cone and winter berry with a couple pearl sprays and adhered them to the inside of the box with the hot glue gun. I added some of Tim’s Distress Grit-Paste on the elements to resemble snow. I stamped the Prickley Pear Stamps cardinal on red cardstock, cut it with the coordinating die and layered five more cardinal die cuts beneath it for strength and dimension, then adhered it to the front of the pine bough. I tied a bow from Christmas plaid ribbon and adhered it to the bottom right corner. I added iridescent gemstones to the snowflake and adhered it to the upper left corner. I stamped the sentiment on a piece of scrap Solar White cardstock, trimmed it, rolled one end and flagged the other end, then adhered it across the snowflake. I used one of the snowflake stamps in the Prickley Pear Stamps set and randomly stamped snowflakes on the front in Cotton White StazOn ink. The finishing touch was the addition of two more iridescent gemstones in the top right and lower left corners.

And one more look… I’m totally smitten! I LOVE how this turned out!

Too many dogs…

Happy Saturday, peeps! Hope you’ve got something fun planned this weekend – you can relax a little now that Christmas is behind us! I’m stoked to be back on the Eyelet Outlet blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! I created a fun card for a crazy dog person featuring some fun brads paired with awesome washi tape and enamel dots!

I decided to go with a brown and black color combo for this card. I put strips of Glitter Black Washi Tape and Glitter Brown Washi Tape horizontally across the bottom of the background panel. I stamped the sentiment in brown ink, added four Dog Brads and several White Enamel Dots, and then layered the panel on black cardstock and adhered it to the card base.

For the inside, I used the black and brown glitter washi tape vertically on the left side of the panel, stamped the sentiment in brown ink, and layered the panel on black cardstock.

And one more peek… loving how this turned out! Several friends have asked me to make some dog cards, so here’s one for the books! ;)

More Inspirational ATCs

1/18/21 Top 3 at Not Just Cards Challenges!

Hello again, my friends! As promised, I’m back with another project I created yesterday morning to enter into several of The Outlawz Challenges going on right now. Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I am totally in love with these Botanical Background Clear Stickers from STAMPlorations! I also have awesome inspirational sentiments from STAMPlorations Shine Bright Clear Stickers so I paired those with the Botanical Backgrounds to create these ATCs. I’ve been so busy with other DT projects over the past several months that I haven’t created any new ATCs for my collection so I made some time this week to create a few!

I’m entering this set of ATCs into the Twisted Thursday Challenge which is Anything Goes with a twist of Rounded Corners. I’m also entering them into the Festive Fridays Challenge where Fred She Said is the sponsor and challenge participants can choose from Christmas, Flowers, Pets, Birthday or Anything Goes themes – and I’ve chosen the Flowers theme this time. And finally, this set fits in the Tuesday Color Challenge as well, where Sherry West Art is the sponsor and we’re using the following photo for inspiration (I zeroed in on several of these yummy colors which are muted somewhat and not quite as vibrant):

I affixed the clear background stickers to 110# Solar White cardstock, trimmed them and rounded the corners. I cut ATC-sized cards from CutCardStock Curious Metallic Aloe cardstock and adhered the floral backgrounds. I affixed four inspirational sentiments from the Sampler on Solar White cardstock, trimmed them and flagged one end, and adhered them to the ATCs. The final touch was adding several tiny iridescent gemstones to each one. That’s it! ;)

And one more peek at the set… absolutely loving how these turned out! I’m in love with these clear stickers! Endless possibilities!
