winter

12/15/20 Top 5 at QKR Stampede!
12/31/20 Honorable Mention Winner at A Perfect Time To Craft Open Challenge!

Good morning, my friends! Can’t believe it’s the first of December already! Where has this year gone?! Our new challenge is live over at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #140 – Winter Wonderland! I created a shaped Christmas card in one of my favorite color combos of burgundy and aqua, using a pretty Power Poppy digital image.

2020_01160013a

I created the card base from burgundy cardstock and the layer from aqua using dies from a card die set. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, cut it with a stitched oval die and adhered it over several strips of Washi Tape. I cut the winter sentiment from red glitter paper and adhered it to the bottom right of the panel.

2020_01160014a

I printed the image two more times to fussy cut four extra mittens, and used two of them on the front popped up on foam pads for a little dimension.

2020_01160015a

The Power Poppies digital image included a sentiment which I used on the inside of the card. I embellished the bottom of the panel with Washi Tape and the other two mittens I had fussy cut earlier.

2020_01160016a

And one more peek… I really love this Christmas card!

Deck the Halls with ugly sweaters!

Hi everyone! Happy December 1st – can’t believe it’s here already! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for MLCCB #29 – December Anything Christmas Goes! I have a small collection of Vera and Mable stamps (with accompanying sentiments) from Great Impressions, and I decided on this fun Christmas sweater stamp for my card this month!

2020_0127005a

Aren’t these two of the cutest little old ladies you’ve ever seen?! I’m rapidly looking like the one on the right, lol! I stamped the image and sentiment on ivory cardstock, colored the image with Bic Mark-It markers and Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, trimmed it and adhered it to a piece of foam for some dimension. The striped background paper is from one of my favorite Stampin’ Up DSP packs… seems like I reach for it a lot! ;)

2020_0127006a

I covered the inside of the card base with the same striped paper used on the front, and stamped a simple sentiment in black ink.

2020_0127007a

One more peek… I love how this turned out! Vera and Mable are awesome! ;)

Let it Snow

Hello again! I’m back with another card I’ve showcased this morning on the Prickley Pear Stamps blog using the Snow Family clear stamp set! You know me and fun folds… I’m always on the look-out to try a new one! I saw this one in a Splitcoast Stampers newsletter not too awfully long ago, called a triple fold card with a belly band, and the tutorial can be found HERE. I had actually found the same fold (but reversed) on the Stempeleinmaleins blog this past Summer HERE which I planned to try at some point. But either way, this fold is super fun and easy, and sure packs a punch! ;)

I created the card base from teal cardstock and adhered two coordinating patterned paper layers on the folded panels. I created a layered belly band embellished with two snowflake brads to keep the card closed when it’s finished.

I stamped Poppa Snowman on the front left panel, then stamped him again on white cardstock which I colored with alcohol markers, fussy cut and paper pieced on the left panel. I stamped the sentiment and added a snowflake brad with collage medium. I took the prongs off the brad since I didn’t want them to show through on the other side.

I embellished the inside panel with a piece of the snowflake patterned paper, a stamped and die cut sentiment and a narrow strip of the teal cardstock.

And one more look… I love this fold so much that I have another base cut and folded and ready to turn into a project, lol, so stay tuned! ;)

from Our Family to Yours

12/4/20 Featured Creation at Scrapping4fun Challenges!

Hi friends! Hope you’re having a great weekend! Today I’m posting for the first time on the Prickley Pear Stamps blog! The blog has been dormant for several years between ownership, and the current owners are striving to bring it up-to-date. So here I am with a fun slimline card I created with the oh-so-adorable Snow Family clear stamp set!

I’ve mentioned before that my go-to size slimline isn’t the same size everybody else is making these days although I’ve seen several different sizes out there. Mine is 9″ x 3-3/4″ because I think it fits better in a #10 business size envelope. I stamped the snow family in black ink on a white panel, colored the images with alcohol markers and then stamped the sentiment in red ink. I created an overall snowy appearance by covering the entire panel with Versamark Dazzle and applying embossing tinsel. I covered the panel a second time with the Versamark Dazzle and applied clear embossing powder so that the embossing tinsel wouldn’t rub off. I added a narrow strip of red patterned paper across the top, adhered the panel on a piece of gray cardstock and added two snowflake brads. I adhered the panel on a slightly larger piece of red cardstock and then to the card base.

Love the fun snowy appearance that the embossing tinsel gives this scene!

I embellished the inside panel with a strip of patterned paper and a narrow strip of gray cardstock, and stamped the sentiment in red ink. I adhered the panel to a piece of gray cardstock and then to a slightly larger piece of red cardstock.

And one more peek… I absolutely LOVE this little snow family! What a fun stamp set!

Wishing a season of wonderful moments

Hi everyone! I’m stoked to be back on the Eyelet Outlet blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! I created a fun Christmas card in a traditional gingerbread house theme which features some straight-up a-DOR-able brads!

I had a sweet gingerbread house digital stamp set in my stash which I used for the background on this card. I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from ivory cardstock along with red cardstock and kraft cardstock layers that I adhered together. I printed the gingerbread house on ivory cardstock, cut it in half and trimmed it, and adhered it to the background layers. I added four Gingerbread Brads (two couples holding hands, lol) and adhered the panel to the card base. I added several Ivory Enamel Dots and a stamped sentiment.

Here’s a close-up of those adorable Gingerbread Brads – you know you need some for your stash, lol! ;)

I embellished the inside panel with a wide horizontal strip of red cardstock, stamped the sentiment in red ink, and layered the panel on kraft cardstock.

And one more look… such an adorable scene! Absolutely loving those brads!

Love is measured in kitty snuggles

Hi everyone! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We sure did… I’m still feeling stuffed! I’ve found a spare few minutes (finally) to play over at The Outlawz Challenges! We have two new kittens in our household which have demanded a lot of my time. Seems I’m busier now since retiring than I was when I worked full-time, lol! My husband is known around town as ‘The Cat Whisperer’ and was called to rescue several kittens that somebody had dropped off behind a local restaurant. Long story short – we kept two and re-homed three! <3 Now on to my card! Those playing in the November Freebie/Progressive Challenge were gifted the adorable Ellie With Kittens digital image from The Paper Nest Dolls which is our sponsor this month. How appropriate is this image with our current ‘new kittens in the house’ situation?!

I went with a green and purple color combo which is one of my favorites. I cut a top-folding 5″ square card base and adhered a panel of green cardstock to it. I cut another panel of green polka dot paper and cut it in half at an angle. I cut the half in half and adhered the bottom portion to the green cardstock, applied a strip of green glitter washi tape, then adhered the second half of the green polka dot paper. I colored the image with alcohol markers and cut it with a stitched octagon die which I layered on an off-set (to the right) green foiled stitched octagon die cut. Then I layered both of them on an off-set (to the left) purple scalloped octagon die cut. I added iridescent gemstones around the image and a couple tiny white flat-back pearls in the top corners. The front and inside sentiments are from the Frantic Stamper Cat Happiness stamp set.

I embellished the inside panel with leftover strips of the green polka dot paper and green cardstock along with a strip of the green glitter washi tape, stamped the sentiment and layered the panel on the green cardstock.

And one more look… there’s nothin’ sweeter than kittens! ;)

Happy Cake Day

Hi friends! Happy Hump Day! I’ve popped in today to share an awesome DT inspiration project for The Project Bin! I was provided the amazing Defined and Born Yesterday stamp sets and created a CAS birthday card featuring a peek-a-boo acetate window!

2020_0329001

I created a top-fold A-2 card base, cut another separate panel, and punched a 2″ circle in each. I sandwiched a piece of acetate between the two layers, and stamped the little birthday cake from the Born Yesterday stamp set in black StazOn ink and embellished it with tiny green gemstones.

2020_0329002

I stamped the front and inside sentiments from the Defined stamp set in blue ink matching the layering cardstock panel on the inside.

2020_0329003

One more look… so happy with how this turned out! Love the peek-a-boo effect with the cake overlay! So fun!

Have a cozy Christmas

12/2/20 Top 5 at ABC Christmas Challenge!

Hi everyone! Well, here it is almost Thanksgiving and even though it’s hands-down my favorite time of year, I’m in serious Christmas mode! I’m stoked to be back on the CutCardStock blog today with an awesome DT inspiration project featuring more of the Bonsai Green and Habanero Red cardstock that was included in our Designer’s Pack – which happens to be on sale this month so be sure to get some! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I created a cozy Christmas card in my favorite traditional Christmas colors of red, white and green!

I was rummaging through my dies and found this adorable stocking die that I’ve had for AGES (probably 6-7 years) and I’m not even sure I’ve ever used it, so out it came for this project! It’s so stinkin’ cute I can’t stand it, lol! I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from Classic Crest Solar White 110# cardstock along with layering panels and 1/4″-ish strips (not measured) from Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock, Bonsai Green 80# cardstock and Habanero Red 80# cardstock. As I often love to do, I rounded the bottom right corner of the card base and all the layers. I arranged the strips in a diagonal fashion across the front panel, trimmed the edges and adhered the panel to the red layer, then adhered the piece to the front of the card base. I stamped the sentiment in red ink, then die cut three stockings from Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock, Bonsai Green 80# cardstock and Habanero Red 80# cardstock. I assembled the stockings and affixed them to the front of the card with foam squares, then added the flat-back pearls to the stockings and several in the upper left corner.

I embellished the inside panel with leftover red, white and green strips down the left side, stamped the sentiment in red ink, and adhered the panel to the green layer.

One more look… I’m absolutely smitten! ;)

Ho Ho Ho

11/30/20 Special Mention Winner at Classic Design Challenge!

Good Sunday morning to you all! I’m back this morning to share a Christmas slimline card that I created for the Prickley Pear Stamps “Wish List” themed Spotlight article in the Rubber Stamp Madness Holidays 2020 Issue! This card features a little scene I created with the Santa Koala and Mrs Claus clear stamp set! So stinkin’ cute! My copy of the Holiday Edition is on it’s way and I will update this post when I receive it. What a thrill! ;)

UPDATE: Holiday Edition received in the mail today! Sorry about the glare on the cover, though. Love the ‘Spotlight’ article on Prickley Pear Stamps! Woo-hoo!

I created my go-to size slimline card base of 9″ x 3-3/4″ from red cardstock and layered on some Christmas plaid. I stamped all the images in black ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored them with alcohol markers. I created this card prior to the dies being available so I fussy cut all the images and created the scene. I used my snow marker to accent their outfits which gave the images nice texture. Since the Prickley Pear Stamps article theme was “Wish List” I made sure to pop up the wish list on foam pads. I layered the focal panel on gold foil cardstock and adhered it to the card base. I stamped, layered and trimmed the sentiment, and added a few glittered Gumdrops in the upper right corner.

I embellished the inside panel with plaid paper and a strip of gold foil cardstock, added a layered sentiment and fussy-cut holly, and layered the panel on the gold foil cardstock.

And one more peek… I totally love how this turned out and so proud it was published!
