Wishing You A Merry Christmas

Hi everyone! Happy Hump Day – the first half of 2020 is officially over and it’ll be Christmas again before we know it, lol! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration for MLCCB #24 – July Anything Christmas Goes! I created a simple vintage Christmas card in pink/red and brown tones and I love how it turned out.

2019_1219001a

I have to go through my 6×6 paper pads every so often because I forget what I have. I admit that I’m a paper hoarder so I don’t think that’s uncommon, lol! I found this gorgeous Crafter’s Companion pad and used two coordinating papers along with a glittered die cut to create the focal point. I stamped above and below the strip, and added some Crystal Drops. I layered the panel on kraft paper and then popped it up on a foam layer for some nice dimension.

2019_1219002a

I embellished the inside panel with leftover strips of the pink paper used on the front, stamped the rest of the sentiment and added a handmade punched embellishment. I layered the inside panel on the kraft paper as well, which I thought contributed nicely to the vintage look.

2019_1219003a

And one more look… a simple card that could easily be mass produced! Love, love, love!

“ewe” rock!

Hi everyone! Happy July 1st to you! A new challenge is live this morning at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #135 – Anything Goes! I created a super cute birthday card using the “ewe rock” Bugaboo Digi Stamps image and sentiment. I absolutely LOVE this image!

2019_1224017a

I colored the image with my Studio 71 alcohol markers and cut it with a stitched mini scallop die. I chose blue faux texture paper for the background which I layered on dark gray cardstock to keep with the blue and gray colors in the image. I cut the sentiment in a thin strip and layered it on several more strips of cardstock for dimension, and then adhered it in a diagonal fashion.

2019_1224018a

I embellished the inside panel with leftover strips of paper and cardstock used on the front, and stamped the birthday sentiment in black ink.

2019_1224019a

One more look… I’m so smitten with this guy! I actually made a second one with a brown sheep and sent him to my musician son for his birthday last week! ;)

Feel Better Soon

Hi, friends! What does the camel say?! Lol, you know that one! A new challenge is live over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #48 – July Anything Goes! Those who know me know that I REALLY love fun folds – so I created a pop-up flower pot get well card to showcase this month! I’m proud to say that this design is my own! I did attempt another pop-up flower pot card I found a tutorial on a few months back and let’s just say it didn’t go as planned, lol, so I designed a more sturdy and more simple construction.

2019_1218012a

After creating the flower pot which is a ‘box’ design that folds flat, I used two flower punches along with a leaf punch and a variety of bright-colored cardstock to create 13 flowers and leaves. There are 12 flowers for the pot and one for the belly band. I added a green Dot Sparkler to the center of each flower and arranged a panel of six flowers for each side, gluing them down as I went.

2019_1218014a

I created two gingham bases with magnets. The flower pot and sentiment are affixed to the main base which folds flat for mailing. The second base is constructed of 110# kraft cardstock and attaches to the main base to hold it open for display.

And here’s one more look with the card folded flat (held with a belly band) ready for mailing. Love how this turned out and will eventually add my template with instructions to the ‘freebies’ section on my blog!

’tis the season

Hi everyone! Hope your week is off to a great start and it’s not too awfully hot where you are! I’m thrilled to be back on the blog today over at The Project Bin with another crafty tutorial! If you’re interested, take a peek at that HERE. I was provided the amazing North Pole stamp set and created a super fun tone-on-tone Christmas card in a non-traditional color – another contribution to “Christmas in June” on the blog. It’s never too early to get started on those Christmas cards or projects!

2020_0519001

This was such an easy design and I had a great time creating the card. Using the circular cluster of snowflakes in the stamp set, I masked off the sentiment in the center of the cluster and stamped snowflakes over the entire front panel, masking other areas of the stamp as needed to fill in blank areas. Lots of masking, lots of stamping and lots of sticky notes used, lol, but definitely worth it! I popped up the panel on foam and then adhered it to the card base. I stamped the front sentiment on a handmade tag and embellished it with a pretty seam binding bow. The finishing touch on the front panel was the addition of gloss white Crystal Drops in the center of each of the large snowflakes, and a few on the tag.

2020_0519002

I stamped the inside sentiment, adhered a narrow strip of cardstock down the left side of the inside panel and layered the panel on the teal cardstock.

2020_0519003

And another peek… super happy with how this turned out! Lots of work but definitely worth it! ;)

Star light, star bright.

Hi friends! A very Happy Monday to you! I’m thrilled to be on the blog today over at The Project Bin with another crafty tutorial! If you’re interested, take a peek at that HERE. We are doing “Christmas in June” on the blog and I created a super fun Christmas card using the Merriest Christmas stamps and dies along with the Summer Fun stamp set from my stash. Christmas stamps and dies paired with a Summer stamp set, you say?! Yep, I used the sun from the Summer Fun stamp set as the bright star! ;)

I created a top fold card base from charcoal gray cardstock to simulate a nighttime scene. I tore three snow banks from linen cardstock and arranged my die cut snowman and trees on the front. I heat embossed the sentiment and the ‘star’ above the die cut elements in white.

I stamped the inside sentiment in black ink and embellished the panel with a strip of red cardstock, and layered the panel on the red cardstock.

And another peek… really loving this little snowman! The sentiments in this set are so awesome!

Beach Critter ATCs

Hi friends! I hope you have a fantastic day and continue staying safe! I’ve stopped in this morning to share another sample I created for Prickley Pear Stamps! These stamps and dies are so awesome to work with and I’m having a blast! I’m a confirmed ATC addict and love creating both cards and coins for my collection! I typically don’t trade them because I don’t want to let go of them, lol! I know… that’s totally wrong, isn’t it?! Bahahaha! Using the Happy Beach Critters clear stamp set along with the coordinating die set, I created a set of five artist trading cards and coins.

I cut the rectangular and circular bases and created the sky on each with a hand-cut cloud template, an ink blending brush and some distress ink. Then I dug into my scrap box and found some kraft cardstock scraps to use for the sand and some blue crinkle paper scraps to use for the water. It’s always a good feeling to use scraps and not have to cut into large pieces of cardstock and paper for small projects. I stamped, colored and die cut all five of the critters in the set, and adhered them to the ATC bases along with sentiments.

One more peek at the set… sure do love how these turned out and I already have them in my collector’s notebook! None of these are going anywhere, lol!

Stopping by to say…

…Hope you have an Amazing Day!
Hi everyone! I really do hope you have an amazing day! I’m back this morning to share another sample I created for Prickley Pear Stamps! I’m having the best time playing with these amazing stamps and dies! I created a fun slimline birthday card using the Happy Beach Critters clear stamp set along with the coordinating die set! Can you say ADORABLE?!

I don’t build scenes very often but I had plenty of room on this card base for a swimming turtle, a sand-diggin’ crab and a very serious-looking bird. I love the whimsical nature of these critters! I created sand banks with shallow pools of water on the shoreline, a large rippling body of water, and an ink-blended sky. I hand-cut the sun and outlined the rays with a black marker, and drew some birds flying in the distance.

I continued with the shoreline, body of water and another swimming turtle on the inside, and used a die cut sentiment.

And one more look… I’m totally loving how this turned out!

Hi friends! I hope you’re having a fantastic week! I’m super stoked to finally be able to share that I’m creating samples for Prickley Pear Stamps! I can’t even tell you how much fun I’ve been having playing with these amazing stamps and dies! I’ve created quite a few projects for an upcoming Hochanda show but have to wait until after the show next month to share, so in the meantime I’ll be sharing other samples that I created for the website. The project I’m sharing today is an adorable purse featuring the Blue Without You Bluebonnets clear stamp set which I paired with some pretty cardstock and a purse die set. How stinkin’ cute is this?!

I stamped the bluebonnets in black ink on white cardstock and then die cut all the purse pieces. I colored the flowers with alcohol markers and then assembled the purse. I added a large white flat-back pearl to the flap closure with Velcro on the under side. Super easy construction – with each one I’ve made, they’ve gotten easier to put together. I’ve made five so far and this is the first one I’ve blogged, lol! But stay tuned… you’ll be seeing the others soon! ;)

Here is a shot of the back and another shot from overhead. This little purse is big enough for chocolate or other candy, a gift card or cash!

And one more peek… I’m so happy with how this turned out! Another one added to My Paper Purses page!

Phantom hello card set

Hi everyone! Happy Hump Day! Today is my baby’s 34th birthday and his big sister will be 37 in January. I feel so old… where has the time gone?! I’m stoked to be back on the CutCardStock blog today with an awesome DT inspiration project featuring more of the Pop-Tone cardstock that was included in our Designer’s Pack! First order of business is to let you know that this post contains affiliate links. I created a set of ‘hello’ cards using what I call the phantom die cutting technique.

2020_04050010

I’m still experimenting. I’ve used foam beneath the sentiment on past phantom die cutting projects, and this time I used four layers of cardstock which yielded an equally cool result. This technique is very easy – you simply die cut the sentiment into the background, adhere the positive pieces back into the negative spaces, then adhere several additional sentiment layers on top of the original sentiment on the background. I cut the four card bases from Classic Crest Solar White 110# cardstock. The front panels and die cut sentiments were cut from Pop-Tone Grape Jelly cardstock, Pop-Tone Orange Fizz cardstock, Pop-Tone Razzleberry cardstock and Pop-Tone Wild Cherry cardstock. The only other embellishment used was Crystal Drops. Such a simple monochromatic design!

The inside panels were cut from Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock, embellished with a strip of cardstock and floral Washi Tape, and a sentiment stamped in black ink. All four inside panels are the same.

2020_0405009

One more look at all four cards… sure am loving how these turned out! I think I will recreate this project using the same Pop-Tone colors with black foam beneath the sentiment for some interest. I think that would look really cool! ;)

Christmas Explosion Box

Hi everyone! It’s Wednesday and that means it’s Huuump Daaay! I’m not posting on the Simply Crafty SVGs Blog today but have popped in this morning to share an extra DT inspiration project with you, a fun exploding box (a box with a box inside) created with the FREE Simply Crafty SVGs Square Explosion Box cut file. And yes, I did say free – Sandy has tons of freebies in her store, so if you’re new to electronic die cutting or if you’re just wanting to add some cool cut files to your arsenal, check out the store! This is sadly my last post for Simply Crafty SVGs and I want to thank Sandy and the rest of the gang for having me along for the past 2-1/2 years! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself and really appreciate Sandy’s generosity!

2020_02020012a

I, too, went with a Christmas theme and used some awesome PhotoPlay papers. I had the tinsel wreath ornament in my stash so I cut off the ornament string and hot-glued it to the lid.

2020_02020013a

Here’s a shot of the box opened up to reveal the small box in the center. Loving all these patterned papers!

Here are two overhead shots…

And one more look… so happy with how this turned out! Now to wait for Christmas, lol! ;)
