Hey Girl

Hey everybody! I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend and you’re getting to do something fun! I’m sharing another friendship card for the Prickley Pear Stamps new release that I created with the Hey Girl Hey stamp set, the Chicken Wire Background stamp and the Slimline Woodgrain Background stamp! I thought these brightly-colored girls would look good on a chicken wire background stamped in gold ink – and they just had to have a frame around them! So stinkin’ cute! ;)

I cut a square top-folding card base and a layering panel from Baronial Ivory cardstock on which I stamped the chicken wire background in Delicata Golden Glitz ink. To create the frame, I stamped the woodgrain background on CutCardStock Twine cardstock, cut it into strips and inked the edges with Catherine Pooler Over Coffee ink. I stamped the chickens on ivory cardstock, colored them with alcohol markers, and fussy cut them. I stamped the sentiment on an ivory cardstock scrap, trimmed them and layered them on CutCardStock Basis Brown cardstock. I adhered the frame to the chicken wire background and then to the card base. Next, I adhered the chickens and sentiment, and added several Studio Katia Sparkling Crystals using my Trinity Pick Up Stick which completed the card front.

And one more peek… such a fun card created with a super fun stamp set! I just can’t get enough of these gals! ;)

Sitting Here Missing You

Hey everybody! Happy Friday to you! I hope you have a wonderful weekend planned! I am attending my first cardmaker summit tomorrow (starting at 8:00 AM Mountain Time) and I’m very excited about joining the livestreams to see demonstrations from several well known stamp companies. We couldn’t livestream or watch videos at all without constant interruptions with the horribly slow satellite internet we previously had. Switching ISPs back in January was a smart decision – we didn’t know there were any other options available in this little town or we would have done it sooner, lol! I’ve popped in this morning to share the very first project I created back in April for the Prickley Pear Stamps new release! This super sweet ‘missing you’ card features the Chicken Gal Pals stamp set and is a quick and easy design.

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from 110# Solar White cardstock along with a layering panel from 80# Solar White cardstock, and rounded the bottom right corner of both. I stamped the chicken and her nest on a Solar White cardstock scrap in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored them with alcohol markers, and fussy cut them. I stamped chicken wire down the left side of the layering panel in Delicata Golden Glitz ink and added a strip of Eyelet Outlet Skinny Red Washi Tape. I adhered the fussy cut chicken and nest, and then stamped the sentiment in black ink. The finishing touch was adding several Studio Katia Sparkling Crystals.

And one more peek… I’m loving this clean and simple card design created with a most adorable stamp set!

Scrappy hugs,

Get Well Soon

Howdy peeps! Hope you’re having a terrific Tuesday and not working too hard! I’ve been to the vet this morning to drop off our latest rescue for spaying. She’s the sweetheart who was sick when the neighbor brought her to us several weeks ago and had the six babies that didn’t survive. She’s getting along great with our other indoor cats and has quickly become one of the indoor kitty clan. ;) Okay, now for today’s share – a super cute get well card created with the new Nap Time stamp set in the latest Prickley Pear Stamps release. My goal was to make the bookshelf look like it was up against a wallpapered wall, and I think I made that happen! This is such a fun stamp set (and a large one) that’s fun to color!

I cut a mini slimline 3-1/2″ x 6″ card base from 110# Solar White cardstock along with a layering panel from the Jillibean Soup Blossom Soup 6×6 Mini Pad which I adhered to the card base. I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink from the Nap Time stamp set on 80# Solar White cardstock and colored it with alcohol markers. I trimmed the image and adhered it to the card front. I stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of Solar White cardstock, punched it with a 1″ circle punch and adhered it to the top center of the image. The finishing touch was adding three green Eyelet Outlet gemstones.

And one more peek… I’m really loving how this turned out! Being a crazy cat lady makes coloring this lazy cat in different color combinations the most fun!

Scrappy hugs,

From One Groovy Chick to Another

Hey everybody! The days are passing by so fast it’s making my head spin! It’s so bizarre that nearly half the year is gone already! I have another fun card to share with you that I created for the Prickley Pear Stamps new release! This card features the new Hippie Chickens stamp set along with a tie dyed stenciled background, and was so much fun to create!

I cut a standard A2 size side-folding landscape card base from 110# Solar White cardstock along with layering panels from CutCardStock Pop-Tone Tangy Orange cardstock and 80# Solar White cardstock. Using The Crafter’s Workshop Mini Tie Dyed Stencil and several blending brushes, I applied Ranger mustard seed, twisted citron, cracked pistachio, peacock feathers, salty ocean, seedless preserves and picked raspberry distress inks. I then slid the stencil very very slightly over toward the right and downward, applied DreamWeaver Translucent Embossing Paste and allowed it to dry. I trimmed the panel and adhered it to the orange panel and then to the card base.

I stamped the van and a couple chickens in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Solar White cardstock, colored them with alcohol markers and fussy cut them all. Then came the fun of arranging them on the background. The van needed to be ‘grounded’ so I stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of Solar White cardstock, trimmed it and adhered it beneath the tires of the van, adding one of the chickens. The finishing touch was adhering a few pieces of Clear Scraps flower confetti.

And one more look… such a fun stamp set that’s so fun to color in funky 70s colors! Yep, right up my alley!

Scrappy hugs,

Hey Beautiful

6/15/22 Top 3 at The Crafter’s Cafe Challenge Blog!

Hey everybody! Happy Fri-YAY to you all – another week has bit the dust! I’m popping in for a second time this morning with a super cute card that I created for the Prickley Pear Stamps new release! Yep, you guessed it… another card using the so-very-cool Hey Girl Hey stamp set which has quickly become one of my favorites! These gals are a hoot! And I used an ‘oldie but goodie’ technique of Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol to color the image. My (old) bottle of Gamsol lives on my desk right in front of me – so I always see it but never think to use it – and I wonder if there’s a shelf life to this stuff?! Apparently not because it still works like a charm! I saw a Gina K Designs reel on Instagram several weeks back which reminded me that this is such an easy and fun technique so I really should be doing it! ;)

I cut a standard A2 size side-folding card base from 110# Solar White cardstock along with layering panels from CutCardStock Basis Dark Red cardstock and a dotted patterned paper from the Jillibean Soup Bloom Soup 6×6 Mini Pad. I also die cut a mini scalloped rectangle from a coordinating Jillibean Soup patterned paper using a My Favorite Things Stitched Mini Scallop Rectangle STAX Die-namics, and also tore a square from some kraft corrugated paper in my stash.

I stamped the chicken gal and the word ‘Hey’ in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on 80# Solar White cardstock, trimmed the sentiment, and colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol and then fussy cut it. Using the Lil Inker Designs Instant Camera die, I die cut a frame and heat embossed part of the sentiment on the bottom of the frame with Hero Arts white embossing powder. The finishing touch was adding two adhesive triangle mirrors and Eyelet Outlet 5mm red gemstones to the left upper and right lower corners for a little interest.

And one more look… super happy with the pencil and Gamsol coloring which is fairly pale in comparison to alcohol ink coloring but matches the scalloped floral die cut perfectly! Really love how this turned out!

Scrappy hugs,

Enjoy the Little Things

Howdy, friends! I hope you are having a most excellent week and you’re having some amazing weather where you are! Our weather here in southwestern Colorado is absolutely gorgeous and I have no complaints! I’ve popped in this morning with a Prickley Pear Stamps sample to share that I created with the new Chicken Wire Background stamp! Just as I did a couple weeks ago with the Woodgrain Background stamp, I created a card that’s not chicken-related to show how versatile this background stamp is as well! I used several Spellbinders Beauty Is Everywhere Die Cut Shapes along with a few Darice white flat-back pearls to make this background come to life!

I cut a standard A2 size side-folding landscape card base from 110# Solar White cardstock along with layering panels from Stampin’ Up Watermelon Wonder cardstock, GKD Charcoal Brown cardstock and 80# Solar White cardstock. I cut the white layering panel with a My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics die and then stamped the chicken wire background in Catherine Pooler Do-Si-Do ink. I stamped the chicken wire background again in Versamark over top of the pink ink and heat embossed it with Hero Arts Sparkle embossing powder. I adhered all the panels to the card base and then adhered the die cuts. The finishing touch was adding a few white flat-back pearls.

And one more look… I’m totally smitten with this card! I love the versatility of this chicken wire background stamp!

Scrappy hugs,

Wishing You an Egg-Cellent Day

Hey everybody, Happy Thursday! I hope your week is going without incident! We had a sad little hiccup here with a very pregnant female kitty that a neighbor trapped and brought to us. She was very sick so the vet put her on an antibiotic, but sadly all six newborn kittens got sick too and none of them made it. Fly high, sweet babies, God had other plans for you. <3 On a lighter note, I’ve popped in this morning to share another super cute sample created with one of the amazing stamp sets in the Prickley Pear Stamps new release. I created an adorable friendship card featuring the new Chicken Gal Pals stamp set! OMGoodness, I L-O-V-E this stamp set! I stuck with a warm color palette of yellow, brown and red, but the possibilities are endless coloring these gals – from subdued to bright and funky!

I cut a standard A2 size side-folding landscape card base from 110# Solar White cardstock and rounded the bottom right corner. I also cut a layering panel and strip from CutCardStock Basis Gold cardstock, another layering panel from 80# Solar White cardstock, and a flag from CutCardStock Basis Light Yellow cardstock. I stamped chicken wire repetitively over the lighter weight Solar White layering panel in Memento Luxe Wedding Dress ink and adhered it to the Basis Gold panel, and then adhered the Basis Gold strip across the bottom. I stamped the chicken, nest and egg images on a piece of the lighter weight Solar White cardstock, colored them with alcohol markers, and fussy cut them all. Finally, I stamped the sentiment on the flag and adhered it to the upper left corner, and then arranged the mama chicken, her eggs and chicks. The finishing touch was adding a few Eyelet Outlet clear gemstones that I colored with a light brown alcohol marker and an Eyelet Outlet red enamel heart to the flag.

And one more look… super happy with how this friendship card turned out! Love, love, love this stamp set!

Lazy Days

Hi friends! Happy Sunday and I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend! They sure do come and go quickly these days, lol! I have an adorable mini slimline get well card to share with you today created with the new Nap Time stamp set from Prickley Pear Stamps! The awesome release includes this library stamp set, several very cool chicken stamp sets, a woodgrain background stamp, and a chicken wire background stamp! You just can’t go wrong with these!

I cut a 3-1/2″ x 6″ mini slimline card base from CutCardStock Basis 110# White cardstock along with a layering panel from CutCardStock Pop-Tone Wild Cherry cardstock which I adhered to the card base. I stamped the image on Basis White cardstock, colored it with alcohol markers, and trimmed it. I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink in a vertical fashion, adhered the image to the card front, and finished it off with three Darice iridescent gemstones.

One more look… super happy with how this turned out! Since we are Crazy Cat People, I fell in love immediately with this stamp set! Gotta love that guy snoozing on the shelf!

Scrappy hugs,

A Christmas Wish

Hey everybody! I’m back with my second post this morning sharing a pretty Christmas card I created in non-traditional colors using the Slimline Woodgrain Background stamp from Prickley Pear Stamps, which is part of the new release featuring a super cute library stamp set, several very cool chicken stamp sets, and a chicken wire background stamp. I wanted to create something that’s not library- or chicken-related to show how versatile this woodgrain background is!

I cut a standard A2 size side-folding landscape card base from 110# Solar White cardstock along with a layering panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and a layering panel and 1-1/4″-ish strip from CutCardStock Bright Silver Foil cardstock. I started by stamping the Slimline Woodgrain Background stamp in Catherine Pooler Tranquil ink on the lighter weight Solar White panel which I layered on the Silver Foil cardstock panel and then adhered the Silver Foil strip across the bottom. I added a poinsettia element from the Spellbinders Sparkling Holidays Sticker Pack along with several Darice iridescent gemstones which completed the front.

And one more look… I always love a Christmas card in non-traditional colors and this one with the woodgrain background turned out so pretty!

Peace, Old Hippie

5/31/22 Design Team Favorite at Crafts Galore Encore Challenge Blog!

Hi friends! Happy Hump Day! I hope you’re having a great week! I have a fun birthday card to share with you today that I created with the new Prickley Pear Stamps Hippie Chickens stamp set! I also used the Blobby Flowers 2 stamp set for the flowers on the inside panels. You know how I love my fun folds, and this Inside Double Flap card was just the ticket! I am in love with this stamp set – I’m a child of the late 50s, 60s and early 70s, so this was an instant hit!

I cut a standard A2 size card base from CutCardStock Basis Teal with extra score lines to create an M (or W depending on how you look at it). I attached a panel cut from Hot Off The Press Flowing Ink 6×6 double-sided cardstock and then adhered paper-pieced grass, the hippie van and chickens, all from the Hippie Chickens stamp set and all colored with alcohol markers. I added the sentiment, some flower confetti and a few Dot Sparklers which completed the card front.

I adhered flaps cut from the Basis Teal cardstock along with several panels cut from the Flowing Ink cardstock, stamped flowers from the Blobby Flowers 2 stamp set on the narrower outermost panels, and added gemstones to the center of each flower. The final step was adhering sentiments along with fussy-cut chickens, flowers and spiral elements from the Hippie Chickens stamp set, as well as a few more Dot Sparklers, to the flaps.

And one more look… totally loving how this turned out! Such a fun, fun stamp set with so many possibilities!
