Artist Inspiration Coins

5/17/20 Rising Star at A Place To Start!

Hi friends! Happy Monday! I have an awesome set of three gold embossed artist trading coins to share with you today, in full color with amazing inspirational quotes!

Using a large background stamp, I arranged all three punched circles on my stamp positioner, stamped them in Versamark and then heat embossed them in gold. I colored the coins with bright fine-tip markers and then adhered each to a second punched circle. I ran a gold paint pen around the edge of each coin to give them a nice finished look. I selected three gold metallic quotation stickers and adhered them to two layers of cardstock, then added one to each coin. Here are close-ups of the coins:

One more peek at the set… loving how these turned out, and yes, they are an amazing addition to my collection!

Happy Anniversary

5/22/20 Top 3 Winner at Alphabet Challenge Blog!

Howdy again! I’m back with one more post this morning before I jump in the shower and get my day started. Well… step into the shower… don’t need to chance breaking a hip by jumping in, lol! I’m playing again at The Outlawz Challenges and this card I’m sharing is for the Wednesday Sketch Challenge where Jan’s Digi Stamps has been our sponsor for the past month and everyone has been playing with this sketch for the past two weeks:

I created a hybrid anniversary card featuring Jan’s Succulent Bouquet digital stamp set. OMGoodness, I just L-O-V-E her images and this one looks so pretty against the blue pearlized cardstock and blue and white gingham paper!

2020_0502005

Really loving the soft look of this design. I used one of my favorite paper pads containing gingham paper. I used a stitched mini scallop circle die to cut the image which I adhered on a hand-cut flag made from the blue pearlized cardstock that I used to layer the gingham paper on. I used a small bow die to cut two bows that I layered on top of one another for a little dimension, and added an iridescent gemstone to the center. I stamped the sentiment directly on the flag beneath the focal image. Since the cardstock was pearlized, I used StazOn ink and then applied the Perfect Crafting Pouch to dry up any wet ink so I could keep crafting without having to stop to let the ink dry.

2020_0502006

I decorated the inside panel with the gingham paper layered on the blue pearlized cardstock, along with a slightly larger stitched mini scallop circle die cut on which I stamped the inside sentiment.

2020_0502007

One more peek… really loving how this turned out and it’ll go to a very special couple later on this year! ;)

Fish whisperer

Hi everyone! I’m back on this fine Saturday morning with another card I created for The Outlawz Challenges. This one is for the Festive Fridays Challenge where Bugaboo is our sponsor this month and we have four themes to choose from – Christmas, Male Birthday, Mother’s Day or Sympathy. I chose Male Birthday. My hubby’s birthday is next month and he’ll be the “big six-oh” – and yeah, I’m a cradle robber… what can I say?! And I keep designing all these great cards for him – yep, about seven so far – so he’ll have some good ones to open, lol!

2020_0502001

I LOL’d, literally, the entire time I was putting this together… from the image to the front sentiment to the inside sentiment. Funny, funny, funny! I used the Gus Fish Whisperer digital image from my stash along with the sentiments. My husband is a ‘cat whisperer’ (we have nine feline fur babies) so he might as well add ‘fish whisperer’ to his repertoire, lol! I colored him with Nuvo and Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I added a fish brad and some Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to his glasses for a little texture.

2020_0502002

And here’s where the fun comes in. Well, more fun. I printed the inside sentiment large – for old person ‘large print reading’ purposes and for old person ‘yelling speaking’ purposes. Bahahaha! Then I stamped a fun Hero Arts sentiment beneath it. Love, love, love!

2020_0502003

And one more look… OMG, I can’t stand it! So fun! He’s going to love it! ;)

oops!

Hi friends! Happy Saturday – hope you have an awesome weekend planned! Even though social distancing is being lifted in some areas, the hubs and I are still #alonetogether. We are homebodies anyway, so the social distancing thing hasn’t been difficult for us. Our prayers go out, though, to those all over the world who have been affected by this pandemic. I’ve popped in this morning with a fun Christmas card to share for The Outlawz Challenges. I’m playing in the Monday Greetings Challenge where our sponsor this month has been The Paper Shelter and we were challenged to use plaids this time.

2020_0501001

I used the super cute pre-colored What A Mess digi from my stash to create this card, keeping the overall design fairly simple. I created the sentiment on my computer and made a layered flag out of it which I adhered across the box… and “OOPS” is definitely the right word for this mess, lol! I added a red Dot Sparkler in each corner for just a hint of bling.

2020_0501002

The fun thing about The Paper Shelter is that they include background papers with their digital images that you can use with the main image – or not. I chose the use the background paper in this set on the inside panel with a sentiment that I created on the computer.

2020_0501003

And one more peek… loving how this turned out! The Christmas plaid is awesome and really compliments this image!

=  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =  =

Now, let me side-track you for a moment or three to share two gorgeous embossed metallic gift card holders I created featuring Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock, Curious Metallic Pale Aloe cardstock and Curious Metallic Pink Quartz cardstock! This is a super simple gift card holder design that can be made for literally ANY occasion… glam it up, as I’ve done, for a special occasion or party it up in fun colors and patterned papers for a birthday – and anything in between! I have had these handwritten instructions in my tutorial arsenal for many years and I believe credit should be given to Gina K with StampTV.

I did some dry embossing with a gorgeous embossing folder on the outside panels, heat embossed the inside sentiment in gold and heat embossed the circle closure element in gold. These Curious Metallics do a FINE job of dry and heat embossing!

Here is a quick tutorial showing you my process for making these gift card holders. Cut 80# Classic Crest base at 4-1/4″ x 10″ and score at 3″, 4″ 5″ and 8″ on the long edge. Round the corners on the 2″ section (this is the front flap), then fold as shown.

CCS-tut-5-9-20-1

Cut Curious Metallic panels for the inside – two at 2-3/4″ x 4″, two at 3/4″ x 4″ and one at 1-3/4″ x 4″ – and adhere to base.

CCS-tut-5-9-20-2

Cut Curious Metallic panels for the outside – two at 2-3/4″ x 4″ and one at 1-3/4″ x 4″ – and dry emboss. Heat emboss the inside sentiment and then heat emboss the round element in gold and punch with a circle punch.

Adhere the embossed panels to the outside, adhere the circle element to the flap and apply a velcro circle for the closure. Apply a strong adhesive to the outside edge and sides of the narrow center section and pinch them together to bond. Don’t apply any adhesive to the center-most fold.

Flip the gift card holder over and trim 1/16″ off the center-most fold and then your gift card will slip into the opening. :)

And I have one more quick ‘bonus’ project to share using the Classic Crest Baronial Ivory 80# cardstock paired with the amazing Curious Metallic Gold Leaf cardstock and Curious Metallic Violette cardstock which I absolutely LOVE together! The Curious Metallics are so awesome to work with and this color combo makes such an elegant wedding card! And this card is super simple – adhere a Gold Leaf cardstock die cut to the top of a Violette cardstock panel and embellish with a single iridescent gemstone for a little bling, and heat emboss a wedding sentiment in the lower right corner of the panel. Then embellish the inside panel with strips of leftover cardstock used on the front and stamp a wedding sentiment. And *poof* you have a gorgeous wedding card!

Violet Paper Doll Set

5/31/20 Best Technique Winner at Classic Design Challenge Blog

Hello, my crafty friends! Hope you’ve had a good week! This month’s Anything Goes with Dies Challenge is live over at Happy Little Stampers and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project with you today! Several weeks ago I shared a childhood memory of my sisters and I frequently playing paper dolls, and showcased my Marisol Paper Doll Set that you can see HERE if you missed it. I have another paper doll set to share with you today created with Julie Nutting stamps and dies!

This super cute teenager is Violet, and she comes with five outfits complete with shoes, all colored with alcohol markers!

2019_1128055a

This set was also created for our middle granddaughter. Each outfit and pair of shoes attaches to the doll with Velcro circles. So let’s do another fashion show, this time with Violet, and here are pics of her in each outfit!

And here’s one more look… I also created Violet with several layers to withstand my granddaughter’s play! I thoroughly enjoyed creating these paper doll sets – it sure took me back a few years! When we were young, we would purchase one punch-out paper doll at the local five & dime store that came with a couple outfits. Then we’d spend hours upon hours tracing, cutting out and coloring new outfits with crayons! Great memories! ;)

My Hero, My Mom

5/16/20 Top Rocker at 613 Avenue Create!

Hello, friends! Hope you’re having a good week! Our new challenge is live over at Paper Funday Challenges and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project with you today! Our challenges are always Anything Goes with an optional twist each month, and our twist this month is Mother’s Day. Our sponsor this month is All Dressed Up Stamps and I used the gorgeous Party Frock digital stamp from my stash to create a Mother’s Day card. I don’t believe this image was actually intended to use as a Mother’s Day image, but this just shows what you can do when you think outside the box! This is my last post for Paper Funday Challenges and I’d like to give a shout-out to Donna and the team for having me along this term – I’ve really enjoyed myself!

2020_01160018a

I printed the lady image on white cardstock and colored it with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I printed the image again on patterned paper and paper pieced the dress onto the cardstock image. I added some coordinating striped paper, some skinny glitter Washi Tape, and punched half-circles along the edges for a little interest. I added a computer-generated sentiment and a few Sprinkles.

2020_01160019a

I embellished the inside panel with leftover paper used on the front and the skinny glitter Washi Tape. I also punched half-circles around the edges of this panel. The inside sentiment is computer-generated as well.

2020_01160021a

And one more look… I love this design and this image!

Happy Birthday

Hi everyone! Happy Fri-YAY – hope you’ve had a great week! Our new sketch challenges this month are live over at Stick It Down and I’m thrilled to be one of the Featured Designers! I’ve popped in this morning to share my Card Team inspiration project! Angie’s Variety Store is our sponsor this month so come on over and play for your chance to win a prize! This is our super awesome card sketch this month, created by none other than yours truly, lol:

Stick-It-Down-May2020-Card-Sketch

I’ve been busy creating the first six sketches this year for the Stick It Down card team and I’ve had a blast! Using this month’s sketch, I created a pretty birthday card in shades of purple with pops of green. Green and purple have been one of my most favorite color combos for a long time.

2019_1222005a

I used Grass Cloth cardstock for the background which yields some beautiful texture and a strip of Lozzy’s pretty digital paper down the left side. The focal image, cut with a stitched circle die, features paper piecing of a pretty stamped floral image along with some background stamping using stamps from the same set. I stamped the sentiment, from a different stamp set, in dark purple ink and embellished the strip with Sprinkles. I finished the front with some Crystal Drops.

2019_1222006a

I embellished the inside panel with leftover strips of paper and cardstock used on the front, and stamped the sentiment in dark purple ink.

2019_1222007a

One more look… I’m so smitten! Such a pretty design in gorgeous colors!

HB2U

Hi everyone! Happy May 1st already! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for LTCCB #46 – May Anything Goes! I created an exploding birthday card! You know how I love fun folds and this was the first one of these I’ve attempted. Fun, fun, fun!

I had a pint-sized visitor who jumped into my light box just as I started taking photos, so I had to share! I’m pleased to introduce you to Loki (‘God of Mischief’ and very appropriately named by the hubby), who was rescued from the freezing cold back in late October. It was about 19 degrees and snowing, and he showed up under our 85-year-old neighbor’s carport with his little eyes matted shut and crying. She called my husband and that was it… we had a new addition to our family. He’s growing in leaps and bounds, and is full of ‘spit and vinegar’ as my mother would have said! UPDATE: I work ahead on many of my projects and this shot of Loki was taken several months ago when I created this project and scheduled this blog post. You’ve actually already been introduced, lol! ;)

2019_1218001a

Okay, on to my card which is really the subject of this post, lol! My inspiration for this explosion card came from… yep, you guessed it… Splitcoast Stampers, and the tutorial can be found HERE. I made the card 4-1/2″ square and it boasts a large stamped birthday sentiment on the belly band to keep it closed.

2019_1218002a

I used fun bright coordinating papers from The Paper Studio along with Stampin’ Up cardstock.  I’m totally in love with this paper – I love the whimsical feel and the bright colors. ;)

2019_1218003a

I stamped on the top of the exploding mechanism and embellished it with some Gumdrops. Here’s a shot of it opening up…

2019_1218004a

And fully opened…

2019_1218005a

And one more peek with the belly band on it, ready for mailing! What a FUN fold! I’m so smitten!
