Hugs

Hi everyone! Happy Fri-YAY – are you doing the happy dance?! Our May challenge is live this morning at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration for LTSCB #133 – Anything Goes! I created a friendship card featuring the amazing Laurel Burch Feline Friends Like You stamp! She’s one of my absolute favorite artists and I was lucky to have won this stamp from Stampendous last October in the 2019 Cat Lovers Hop!

Leslie

I created an inked background using a variety of blue and green distress inks, drying the watercolor paper between smooshes. This large stamp contains the images and the sentiment on one stamp, so I carefully cut the sentiment away from the images so I could use it by itself on the inside. I stamped the cats and butterflies on the background and then again on plain white cardstock. I stamped it a second time in Versamark and applied Hero Arts clear embossing powder and heat set it. I colored the images with Bic Mark-It markers in bright colors and fussy cut each one. I ran a Memento Tuxedo Black marker around the edges for a more finished look, then adhered each image into it’s place on the background. I stamped the ‘hugs’ sentiment from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps in white StazOn and then again in Versamark, applied Hero Arts white embossing powder and heat set it.

2019_1209010a

I kept the inside panel fairly simple, embellishing the panel with two very thin leftover slivers trimmed from the inked background, and stamping the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

2019_1209011a

Here’s one more peek… super happy with how this turned out! If you’ve ever seen any Laurel Burch designs, you know they are very colorful, and I’m all about color!

birthday wishes

Hi everyone! Happy Friday and May 1st! It’s time for a new challenge over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #37 – Anything Goes + Masking! As you know, our challenges are always ‘anything goes’ and we offer an optional technique twist each month just to inspire you – and this month’s twist is masking! I created a… wait… one layer (yessss, one layer AND clean and simple!) birthday card featuring masking of a bunch of sweet feline friends wishing somebody a happy birthday!

DSCF5815

I think this might be the second or third one layer card I’ve created in all my adult crafty life, lol – and it’s CAS – this doesn’t happen very often! I colored these little guys and gals with my Prismacolor Pencils so there would no bleeding through the cardstock. I really need practice as I’m still such a novice using colored pencils.

DSCF5817

I stamped the ‘from all of us’ sentiment on the inside in black ink.

And one more peek… so sweet! I love it!

My Ugly Christmas Sweater

Hi everyone! Can you believe it’s May 1st already?! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog. I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for MLCCB #22 – May Anything Christmas Goes! I created an absolutely adorable Christmas card using the Melonheadz Ugly Christmas Sweater digital pack. I’ve had this image in my arsenal of digital images forever (yes, many years) and decided it was time to use it!

2019_1204009a

I used the poem as my background, with a blue/red/green color combo on her ugly sweater and detail down the left side. Her sweater boasts Clear Star Gelly Roll pen sparkle and big ole’ red gemstones, lol! She is thick (three layers thick) and so stinkin’ cute!

2019_1204010a

I embellished the inside panel with leftover black cardstock, keeping it fairly simple. I cut the inside sentiment with a stitched circle die, and added some color and Clear Star Gelly Roll pen sparkle.

2019_1204011a

Here’s another look… super happy with how this turned out! So glad I decided to peruse my digi files for something ‘new’ to use that I’ve had for a long time!

2019_1204012a

Oh, and one more look – I told you she was thick, lol! I printed her three times and layered them all on top of one another for some awesome dimension and texture!

so delightful

Hi everyone! Hope you’re having a good week – it’s just about over! I’m super stoked to be back on the CutCardStock blog today with an awesome DT inspiration project featuring more of the glitter cardstock that was included in our Designer’s Pack! First order of business is to let you know that this post contains affiliate links. I created a pretty friendship card. I’m really loving the silver with the pop of black!

2020_03120013

I created a standard sized A2 top fold card base from Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. I cut a slightly smaller background panel from Pop-Tone Black Licorice cardstock, rounded all four corners and adhered it to the card base. I added some black plaid ribbon tied with metallic silver string to a tag from my stash to use as the focal element for the front of the card. I cut some random lengths of CCS Silver Glitter cardstock and adhered them to the background. I popped the tag up on black foam and adhered it to the card. I finished the design with several smoke-colored gemstones.

2020_03120014

For the inside, I adhered a strip of black and white gingham paper to match the gingham on the tag, along with narrow strips cut from the Black Licorice and Silver Glitter cardstock. Then I stamped the sentiment in black ink.

2020_03120015

And one more peek… loving how this turned out! I really love the CCS Glitter cardstock! OMGoodness! ;)

Mother’s Day Watering Can Bouquets

5/1/20 Top 3 at Cut It Up!

Hi, friends! Happy Sunday – I hope you’re having a beautiful weekend and staying safe doing the ‘social distancing’ thing! I’ve popped in this morning with a couple Mother’s Day box cards I created with my Scan N Cut paired with the awesome Defined stamp set from The Project Bin. These turned out so pretty and could be used for just about any occasion calling for a bouquet of colorful flowers!

2020_0426001

I cut the watering cans from heavy kraft cardstock, and used one of my favorite 12×12 paper pads to cut the panels, one in blue and one in purple. I cut the flowers the same except for the coordinating cluster of posies at the top to match the panels. I stamped the front sentiment in matching ink and the ‘mom’ sentiment on the back panel in black ink. I used matching Dot Sparklers for a little bling. Here’s the blue one:

And here’s the purple one:

And here are both box cards folded flat, ready to be mailed in their matching envelopes:

Love, love, love! I’m just tickled with how these turned out and I know the girls are going to love them! ;)

When life gets complicated… Ride

Hi friends! Happy Saturday – hope your weekend is off to a great start! I have a fun project to share with you today – a very cool card that could be used for any favorite biker in your life, male or female! I used to be very intimidated by ‘clean and simple’ but am loving this kind of design more and more every day. I won a gift certificate to an online store several months ago and when I saw this rubber stamp set I knew I had to have it – and I knew exactly how I wanted to use it!

2020_02140017

I stamped the bike and front sentiment in black ink on Strathmore Bristol smooth white cardstock. I stamped the image and sentiment again in Versamark (right over top of the black), applied clear embossing powder and heat embossed them. I very rarely use colored embossing powders anymore… I like to stamp in colored ink, then stamp right over that in Versamark, apply clear embossing powder and heat emboss. This gets you virtually any color of embossing you could ever imagine! A very cool trick I learned a number of years ago. I trimmed the bike image and layered it on thick black foam for some hefty dimension. I trimmed the sentiment into a strip, layered it on black cardstock and adhered it to the bottom of the focal image.

2020_02140019

I kept the inside very simple. I stamped the sentiment (from the same stamp set) in black ink and adhered a thin white strip layered on black cardstock across the bottom which added a little interest.

And one more look… super happy with how this turned out!

a work of ART

Hi friends! Okay, this is my last post for the evening, sharing the final card I created this afternoon for The Outlawz Challenges. I’ve had so much fun over the past few days! This one-layer card (woot-woot – one-layer cards are difficult for me) is for the Twisted Thursdays Challenge where STAMPlorations is our sponsor. It’s an Anything Goes challenge with an optional twist of using a stamp from our sponsor. NAILED IT! I used the awesome Art Is stamp set to create this note card. Awesome quote by Oscar Wilde! ;)

2020_0424009

I did some simple distress ink smooshing and splattering. That’s the beauty of this 110# cardstock – it doesn’t wimp out with the use of a little water on it. I smooshed with peacock feathers distress ink, then splattered chipped sapphire with a fan brush, and then stamped the image in faded jeans archival ink. I left the inside totally blank to use this as a note card.

2020_0424010

One final look… totally loving how this turned out! This would be SO easy to mass produce to create a set to gift! I’m always thinking of gift ideas!

I’d love to enter this card into these additional challenges:

My Gnomies Rock!

Howdy again, peeps! I’m back with another card I created this afternoon for The Outlawz Challenges. This card is for the Tuesday Color Challenge where we have a color wheel to choose one cool color and two warm colors for our project. SheepSki Designs is our sponsor this month and since I’ve developed a major kind of love for gnomes lately (and these guys are no exception), I used her awesome Garden Party digital image to create this card for my son and his family.

2020_0424005

I picked lime green as my cool color along with red and orange as my warm colors. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and used a Copic black multi-liner pen to draw patterns on their hats. I used orange textured cardstock for the background and added a leftover piece of floral digital paper that was laying on my craft table. I trimmed the image and layered it on the orange textured cardstock and then on a red textured cardstock postage stamp die cut. I created the sentiment on my computer.

2020_0424006

I printed the inside sentiment on the computer as well, trimmed the panel and layered it on the orange and red textured cardstock used on the front.

2020_0424007

And one more peek… I’m so loving how this turned out! It’s a ‘just because’ kind of card for my son and his family. When I saw the image, I immediately thought of them and I know they’re going to love it! ;)

What the Cluck?

5/1/20 Winner at Crafty Catz!
5/3/20 Favorite at The Outlawz Sunday Songs & Rhymes Challenge!

Hi everyone! I had a couple hours to myself this afternoon in my studio so I created a few more cards for The Outlawz Challenges. This fun card is for the Sunday Songs & Rhymes Challenge and the piece of the rhyme I focused on was “9, 10 A Big Fat Hen!” Sherry West Art is our sponsor this month and I snipped the chicken from her Hoppy Easter digital image set to use for a new baby card.

2020_0424001

A big fat hen it is – and how stinkin’ cute is she?! I colored the image in yellow, orange and red, cut it with a stitched circle die and added some white paint pen lines to add to the whimsical character. I used yellow and white dotted cardstock along with a thin strip of black cardstock. I stamped the sentiment using a fun stamp set in my stash, and finished the front with a few small yellow sequins.

2020_0424002

I embellished the inside with the same yellow and white dotted cardstock and thin strip of black cardstock used on the front. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

2020_0424003

And one more peek… I sure am smitten with this chicken, lol! SO cute! ;)

Tis the Season

Hello, my peeps! I’m back this morning with another card I created yesterday afternoon for The Outlawz Challenges. I’ve decided that I’m going to make ‘non-DT time’ for myself in my studio on a regular basis – I’m really enjoying this! ;) I’m playing in the Wednesday Sketch Challenge this week, and what a sketch this is! Love, love, love!

Outlawz-Wednesday-Sketch_Apr2020_2

Jan’s Digi Stamps is our sponsor this month and I’ve used her gorgeous Christmas Skates digital image with sentiments to create this card. Sketches are so cool. They pretty much take the guess-work out of creating a project, and that’s fine by me, lol!

2020_0423006

I printed the digital paper for the background and layered it on green textured cardstock. I cut the focal image with a small double-stitched die and layered it on the green textured cardstock. I printed the front sentiment and layered that panel on red glitter paper. I finished the front with red gumdrops in the right upper and left lower corners.

2020_0423007

I printed the inside sentiment and embellished the panel with some of the digital paper and the green textured cardstock used on the front.

2020_0423008

One more peek… I’m so loving how this turned out! What an awesome sketch and absolutely gorgeous digital image with sentiments!
