Love To Scrap 2

Hi everyone! As you know, the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog is turning six this month, and to celebrate, we’re hosting a Sixth Birthday Blog Hop & Challenge lasting six days, with six sponsors and six prizes! My final blog hop project is a fun friendship card using A Girl and Her Shoes stamp set from STAMPlorations! This is one of my favorite stamp sets. The top flap on this card has been cut off with a curved scallop edge die. I stamped a fab pair of boots on the bottom flap and colored them with a Studio 71 alcohol marker.

I covered the top flap with a piece of pretty dotted patterned paper and added a die cut sentiment, voila… we have a ‘gorgeous’ card!

Here’s a shot of the very simple inside with a Marilyn Monroe quote hidden beneath the scallop flap. Love, love, love!

Congratulations on your Graduation!

Hi everyone! Happy Happy – hope you’ve had a great week! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m stoked to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #119 – Anything Goes! I created a clean and simple graduation card using the awesome Culmination Graduation Greeting and I couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out.

I started with a bi-level card base – I cut about 3/4″ off the bottom of the front flap. I printed the greeting on white cardstock and cut it with a dotted rectangle die. I created two more rectangle die cuts and layered them all together with white foam between the layers. I added a tiny plaid bow and two clear rhinestones to finish the front.

I added a strip of plaid patterned paper across the bottom of the inside of the card base. I stamped a sentiment in black ink on a stitched die cut panel and adhered the panel to the inside.

Here’s one final shot of the completed card. I really L-O-V-E this greeting and I see more cards using it in my future, lol!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Hello, my crafty peeps! Happy Friday and happy March 1st! Can you believe it?! A new challenge is live this morning over at Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for MLCCB #8 – March Anything Christmas Goes! Anybody who knows me knows that I’m a sucker for fancy folds and am always looking for new ones to try. My inspiration for this very cool hanging reverse fold origami card (also called a squash card) came from one of my YouTube subscriptions HERE. Sam is one talented lady, and I could sit for hours watching her videos!

I created this card for my sister – it’s something she’ll be able to use year after year. And it’s contained in it’s own little decorated box! She loved it and showed it off to her crafty lady friends, lol!

The paper reminds me of a flannel shirt. I paired it with green crinkled paper which looks great on the white cardstock.

… and the card out of the box. I even decorated the inside, lol!

There are quite a few stamped and die cut Christmas sentiments as well as Christmas stickers used. I don’t typically use stickers on my projects but the ones I used on this came in the Photo Play paper packs and I just couldn’t resist. They are so stinkin’ cute!

Here’s a shot of the entire card hanging on the wall. It’s about 2-1/2 feet long!

And here are shots of the different sections. This was so much fun!

And here’s a shot of the back of it when it’s all folded up, which is actually the very bottom portion. LOVE how this turned out – I’m thinking I’ll be making more of these for Christmas this year!

Know your own happiness.

Hi everyone! Yep, it’s that time of the month… busy 1st with lots of design team projects so hang in there with me! A new challenge is live this morning over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project with you for LTCCB #32 – March Anything Goes. I created a pretty note card using stamps from the Blank Page Muse. I rarely use an uncolored image but I thought this would look awesome with just a pop of color, so that’s what I did!

I sure do love all my dotted dies. I cut the image with a rectangle one and layered it on black and then again on white, added a stamped image popped up on foam, and adhered the panel to a red card base. I’ve always loved a red, white and black color combo!

This is a note card so I layered a blank white panel on black cardstock for the inside, leaving lots of room for a custom message.

Inside every person

Hi everyone! Happy Friday and March 1st! It’s time for another fun challenge over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog and I’m stoked to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #23 – Anything Goes + Inked Background! Remember all of our challenges are Anything Goes and we throw in a technique twist just to inspire you and they are not required to play! ;)

I had THE best time creating this birthday card for a co-worker (she loved it, by the way!) featuring The Crafter’s Workshop Mini Time Travel stencil and Ranger Distress Grit Paste, Ranger Walnut Stain distress ink, several different Ranger Distress Oxide inks, and Tsukineko Pewter Shimmer Spritz to create the background, then a fun River City Rubber Works rubber stamp and a Tim Holtz Paper Doll to balance it all out.

I created the background by smooshing Ranger Water Color Paper into puddles of different colors of distress oxide inks spritzed with water, and drying with the heat tool between smooshing sessions. You get a much better result that way. I then used the Mini Time Travel stencil with Walnut Stain Distress ink to get the clock faces. Then I moved the stencil up slightly and to the right and applied Distress Grit Paste over the stencil with a spatula. When that was dry, I re-placed the stencil and added a little more Walnut Stain Distress ink to color the paste. I trimmed down the panel and layered it on brown cardstock, and added twine, the stamped/embossed ‘older person’ sentiment from River City Rubber Works which I LOVE, and the paper doll. On a side note, River City Rubber Works has sadly gone out of business. I really loved their stamps.

I decorated the inside panel with a scrap of the trimmed-down front panel and a strip of leftover brown cardstock, stamped the sentiment (from a Stampin’ Up stamp set), and layered the panel on the brown cardstock.

A couple more angled shots… I’m absolutely loving how this turned out! So happy my co-worker liked it!

OMGosh, what a gorgeous card sketch by our talented Laura Rumble! I created a sympathy card… and I have to admit that I usually shy away from these but the truth is everyone needs them occasionally and it never hurts to have some in our stash.

I did a lot of masking to create the flower clusters. I used a simple color scheme to color the flowers and finished the front with a stamped sentiment cut with a (yep, one of my favs) dotted oval die.

Be Silly wall hanging

Hi everyone! Happy Friday… doing the *happy dance*… Fridays are my most favorite day of the week! And today starts a new challenge over at Polkadoodles! I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for Wk 7 – Anything Goes! I created a fun ‘Be Silly’ wall hanging that’s hanging in my studio to remind me that I don’t have to be serious all the time! ;) This is my last post for Polkadoodles. I’ve made the difficult decision to step down because of too many obligations right now. I’d like to thank Jan and the gang for having me along for the past several months – I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself!

I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned that even though all Polkadoodles challenges are ‘anything goes’, our design teams are challenged each week with a specific theme. This week it’s “Recycle” so I recycled the thick cardboard backing from a package of cardstock to use as the base for my wall hanging. All of the elements (image, papers, sentiment, bow and flowers) are from the amazing Octavia Moonfly Big Kahuna Digital Craft Download Bundle. Be sure to check it out… you will NOT be disappointed! :)

I colored the fairy image with a new set of alcohol markers that I recently purchased (and still adding colors as they become available), and used dies from several of my favorite sets to cut a background panel, the focal image and the sentiment. I also used some fabric ribbon, flat back pearls and flower brads from my stash. This was so much fun putting together!

For You gift box

Hi everyone! Happy Hump Day! Today is my post day on the Simply Crafty SVGs Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project with you, a pretty gift box created with the Simply Crafty SVGs Wide Gable Box cut file. This was an absolute joy to put together! I just love Sandy’s cut files – she does all the work… all you have to do is cut and put together!

I used a nice heavy kraft cardstock, some pretty floral patterned paper, die cut alphabet letters (from a cut file that came standard on the Scan N Cut) colored with sparkle overlay marker, a couple butterflies and some Crystal Drops. Not a long list of supplies at all!

with brave wings she flies

Hi everyone! Hope you’ve had a good weekend! This month’s ATC Challenge is live over at Happy Little Stampers and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project with you today! The theme for our February ATC Challenge is Stencils and we’d love to see what you create for our challenge this month!

I created my ATC for this challenge from Chalkboard cardstock. I’ve had this in my stash for a couple years, actually, and this is only the second time I’ve used it. Don’t ask me why… it’s a pretty fun product, especially with chalk markers!

I pounced white dye ink through the butterfly and ink splotch portion of the stencil and then spritzed Glimmer Mist over it to give it some gorgeous shimmery color. I applied dimensional paste with a spatula over two other areas of the stencil and let that dry.

I created the sentiment on the computer, hand-cut the words and adhered them to the left side of the ATC, then outlined them with a purple chalk marker. The finishing touch were pink and yellow dots created with chalk markers. I sprayed a matte fixative over the entire ATC so nothing would rub off.

Valentine Greetings bookmark

Hello, my crafty peeps! Hope you had a great weekend! I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined the UnstampaBelles design team – woo-hoo! I’m very excited and am looking forward to creating with these talented ladies! A new challenge launched over at UnstampaBelles last Monday and today is my showcase day on the blog! I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for Challenge #86 – Simply Bright & Cheerful! The twist this month is Arty Creations. I created a fun Valentine’s Day bookmark. It’s been many years since I created a bookmark and I thought this would be a fun debut project for the UnstampaBelles Challenges.

The best aspect of being a new designer on this design team is that there is no stamping allowed, hence the name UnstampaBelles. I do occasionally create a project without stamping but not very often, so this is a challenge and I’m definitely up for it! I love how this bookmark turned out!

I started with a tag, then added papers, a layered image and sentiment, and finally a few finishing touches such as the heart stickers and gold Skinny Washi tape. This is absolutely one of the cutest images I’ve ever worked with and I can’t wait to gift this!
