Love to Sew!

Hey everybody! Well, another week has whizzed by and the weekend is almost here! I’m delighted to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you today created with the Bizzy Hands Creations Love To Sew stamp set. Our DT leader says today is National Sewing Machine Day so what better reason is there to create a disappearing nine patch card featuring a super adorable sewing machine to celebrate this fun day? Green and purple is one of my all-time favorite color combos so this card is a win-win for me!

A square card base was cut from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar white cardstock along with layering panels from light and dark green prints in the Back To Basics Jade 12×12 Collection Pack. I created the patchwork panel by cutting nine squares using a Back To Basics Stitched Squares Nested Die. I adhered three rows of three squares to a piece of lightweight copy paper, trimmed the edges of the copy paper, and then cut it quarters. I ran the four smaller squares through my Big Shot with another stitched die from the same set. I rotated the quarters until I was happy with the overall pattern and then adhered it to the darker green layering panel.

Any size squares can be cut (with or without a die) depending on how big or small you want your panel. The best size squares in my opinion are around 1-1/2″ so you end up with a 4-1/2″ or so square panel. I paper pieced the sewing machine onto the panel using two prints in the Back To Basics Lilac 12×12 Collection Pack, coloring some of the elements with Sharpie ultra fine point markers. The flowers and hearts were also paper pieced. I stamped the sentiment on a 80# Solar White cardstock scrap and fussy cut it which completed the card front.

I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock using a Back To Basics Stitched Squares Nested Die and layered it on the dark print from the Jade collection pack leaving a slightly larger border around the square. I finished the inside with a another sentiment from the stamp set stamped in black ink.

Kick Up Your Heels

Hey everybody, Happy Thursday! I’ve popped in this morning with a Pajama Crafter Stamps project created with the awesome Prickley Pear Stamps Kokopelli-Happy Birthday stamps and die which I paired with the Nesting Tag die set (also from Prickley Pear Stamps). This is another project I created prior to leaving the team at the end of February and hadn’t yet showcased. I totally LOVE this stamp set and see lots of possibilities creating with it! This mini slimline in B&W with gray tones featuring a tag on the front was really fun putting together.

The 3-1/2″ x 6″ mini slimline card base was cut from CutCardStock Cougar 100# Smooth White cardstock along with layering panels from CutCardStock Lessebo Pitch Black cardstock and a brick print in the The Paper Studio Entirely Textures 2 12×12 paper pad. Using the Nesting Tag die set, I cut tags from the Cougar and Pitch Black cardstock.

I stamped the images from the Kokopelli-Happy Birthday stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a Cougar scrap and cut one of them with the coordinating die and trimmed the other in a strip which I embellished with Eyelet Outlet skinny gold washi tape. I threaded some Really Reasonable Ribbon black and white gingham ribbon through the tag holes and added some Taylored Expressions Gold Drip Drops. I stamped an additional sentiment on the inside which completed the project.

Scrappy hugs,

Too Much Space

Hey everybody, Happy Tuesday! I hope your week has started off on a nice note! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a front flap card which is one of my most favorite fun folds. All of our red, white and blue cardstock is on sale this month, so I used Navy Blue and White cardstock from our new Lessebo line to make this outer space themed ‘missing you’ card. How stinkin’ cute is this guy in his space craft?!

I don’t have any written instructions for this fold because I’ve been making these for years, but it really is a very simple card to make. In a nutshell, the base is a flat A2 size embellished with a patterned paper layering panel. Then a narrower top folding front flap card (any width you want) is adhered to the front. You can embellish this smaller card with the same patterned paper that you used on the base or you can use a coordinating print. The focal image can be a stamped image, a die cut, or a large sentiment, and is positioned partly off the flap for a little interest. A white panel is adhered to the inside for a sentiment and signature. That’s it! ;)

I cut the card base and front flap card from Lessebo Navy Blue along with layering panels from the Craft Consortium Ink Drops-Vivid 6×6 paper pad. I stamped the Milky Way image and sentiments from The Project Bin in Catherine Pooler Juniper Mist ink on Lessebo White cardstock, cut the image with the coordinating die and trimmed the sentiments into strips. The finishing touch was adding several Eyelet Outlet 5mm blue pearls.

I cut the inside panel from Lessebo white and added the stamped sentiment.

Scrappy hugs,

Halloween Hi fun fold

Hi friends, Happy Monday! I’ve popped in with another Pajama Crafter Stamps project to share created with the super cute Prickley Pear Stamps Bats and Bats 2 stamp sets along with the Bat die. This is another one in the pile of projects I created prior to leaving the team at the end of February and hadn’t yet showcased. It’s not too early to share a Halloween card, is it?! You know how I love me some fun folds, and I found a new one to try! My inspiration for this angled slide and lock card came from Lisa Curcio’s blog. She’s a fellow fun fold fanatic and I just love how she thinks. This interactive card was such fun and I see more of them in my future!
UPDATE: I have since made another slide and lock fun fold card with a hand-cut track for the sliding mechanism and a shaker as the focal image. I wrote instructions and have added them to the Freebies section of my blog HERE if you’d like to learn how to make this fun fold.

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Lessebo cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating papers in the Keep It Simple Mango 12×12 Collection Pack. The track for the sliding mechanism was cut with a Spellbinders Fancy Framed Tags One die, and the circles were cut with the Keep It Simple Stitched Circles Nested Dies. Using two of the circle dies, I cut a moon from Lessebo Sunset Orange cardstock. I pulled some iridescent star shaker bits from my stash and adhered them randomly over the stars on the patterned paper.

The front sentiment is from the Bats stamp set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I stamped the bat (also from the Bats stamp set), used the coordinating Bat die to cut it, and adhered it to the stitched circle with a black foam square. I cut the inside panel from Solar White and embellished it with orange and black strips cut from the papers used on the front. The inside sentiment and small bat are from the Bats 2 stamp set, also stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Scrappy hugs,

You’re my Cup of Tea

Hey everybody! Happy Saturday – I hope you had a great week and you’re looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend! I’m stoked to be back with another Keep It Simple DT inspiration project to share today created with papers, stamps and dies from the new Belle Collection. This collection is darling and I thought another pop-up window card was warranted to show off this little gal. I really love this fold – it’s so easy and really packs a punch! This is actually the second one of these I’ve made and I can’t remember where I originally saw it. Just cut an aperture (of any shape) into the front flap and save the die cut shape to use for the focal image. Add a pop up mechanism (simple tubular box) to the top back of the focal image so it stands up when the card is opened.

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Lessebo Misty Blue along with layering panels from coordinating prints in the Belle 12×12 Collection Pack and CutCardStock Cougar Smooth 80# White cardstock. I cut the oval aperture into the front flap using a Back To Basics Stitched Ovals Nested Die and also cut an oval from Cougar Smooth 100# White cardstock.

I stamped the princess, the tea pot and the tea cup from the Belle Collection Stamps in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Cougar White, colored them with alcohol markers, and cut them with the coordinating dies. I stamped the front sentiment from the same stamp set in Catherine Pooler Cove Blue ink and cut it with the coordinating die. The finishing touches were adding a couple Back To Basics Lemon Enamel Hearts and stamping an additional sentiment (from the Back To Basics Thank You Sentiments stamp set) inside in the blue ink.

Scrappy hugs,

You make me happy

Hey everybody! Happy Friday – I hope you ‘ve had a great week! The weeks seem to be whizzing by… did it go by fast for you, too? I’ve popped in with another Pajama Crafter Stamps project to share today created with the adorable Build An Umbrella stamp set which I paired with the Umbrella die set and the Ducks in a Row and Rain Cloud Die set, all from Prickley Pear Stamps. How stinkin’ cute is this?! This clean and simple card is another one of the projects I created prior to leaving the team at the end of February and hadn’t yet showcased. It’s a super easy design that came together pretty quickly. I see so many possibilities using this umbrella! ;)

The card base was cut from CutCardStock Cougar 100# Smooth White cardstock. The umbrella base was cut from CutCardStock Basis Gray cardstock using the Umbrella die set. The umbrella panels (from the Build An Umbrella stamp set) were stamped on Pop Tone Red Hot, Pop Tone Blue Raspberry and Pop Tone Limeade cardstock and cut with the coordinating Umbrella die set. The ducks (from the same stamp set) were stamped on Pop Tone Lemon Drop cardstock and cut with the coordinating die from the Ducks In A Row and Rain Cloud die set. I die cut the rain cloud (also from the Ducks In A Row and Rain Cloud die set) directly into the front flap of the card base and backed it with a piece of CutCardStock Blue Hydrangea cardstock. The final step was stamping the sentiment (from the same stamp set) in the lower right corner.

Scrappy hugs,

Hey everybody, Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is going well! I’m delighted to share one more Keep It Simple DT inspiration project created with the adorable Lucky Day Collection. This was an extra project I made (sometimes I can’t help myself) and even though St. Patty’s Day is long past, I wanted to show it off. Collage style cards are so fun to make, layer after layer, and I love how this one turned out!

The landscape side-folding A2 size card base was cut from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock along with a frame and layering panel from coordinating papers in the Lucky Day 6×9 Collection Pack. I used the Stitched Rectangles Nested Dies to make the frame and popped it up on double-sided foam strips. Then the fun began… I chose a bunch of die cuts from the Lucky Phrases and Lucky Day Die Cut Pieces and began layering them, gluing some flat and adding foam squares behind some. When I was finished, I added several Jade Enamel Dots which completed the card front.

I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with another coordinating print from the 6×9 Collection Pack and more die cuts and phrases.

Sweet Treats for a Sweet You

Hey everybody! Happy Tuesday – I hope your week has started off on a nice note! I’ve popped in with another Pajama Crafter Stamps project to share today created with the super cute Build-A-Cupcake – Christmas stamp set and Cupcake Die, both from Prickley Pear Stamps. This is another one in that pile of projects I created prior to leaving the team at the end of February and hadn’t yet showcased. This side panel pillar card is one of those fun folds that has made it to the top of my list of favorites – it’s basically a front step card in a vertical orientation.

I cut the card base and step panel from CutCardStock Twine cardstock along with layering panels from CutCardStock Kale Green cardstock and coordinating prints in the Carta Bella Christmas Collection Kit. I stamped the cupcake and sentiment from the Prickley Pear Stamps Build-A-Cupcake – Christmas stamp set in Memento Espresso Truffle ink on Twine cardstock. I colored the image with alcohol markers, cut it with the coordinating Prickley Pear Stamps Cupcake Die, and cut the sentiment with a Keep It Simple Stitched Ovals Nested Die. The finishing touch was adding several green gemstones.

Scrappy hugs,

SUMMER banner

Hey everybody! Who is ready for SUMMER?! I am, I am! I sure do love the Summer months – the vitamin D, the beach, day rides, and the smells and sounds of Summer. Warm is okay but definitely not hot… I don’t do extreme heat in my old age. I’m stoked to be back with a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project to share that I created to celebrate Summer! I had it hanging on a wall in my studio before I took it down to send to the KIS owner, but it would be super easy to reproduce. Banners are so much fun and can be made in any size or shaped flags, and this one was no exception!

I cut the flags from assorted patterned papers from the Back To Basics Royal, Mango, Lemon, Rose, Jade and Lilac 12×12 Collection Packs along with a layering panel for each one cut from CutCardStock Pop Tone Black Licorice cardstock. I punched two holes in the top of each flag with my WRMK Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite. The letters were cut from the same Black Licorice cardstock using the KIS Cuts Twinkling Stars Font.

The leaves and flowers were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on scraps of Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock using stamps from the Simply Spring Collection Stamps. I colored them with alcohol markers and added some details with a Clear Star Gelly Roll pen. I cut them with the coordinating Simply Spring Outline Dies and adhered them, along with the letters, to the flags. I used an assortment of Back To Basics Enamel Hearts and Dots to embellish each flag, and then wove a length of Back To Basics Lemon Ribbon through each one, which completed the project. See how easy that was?!

Just a Note fun fold note card

Happy Saturday, friends! It’s June 1st already! I’ve popped in this morning with another Pajama Crafter Stamps project created with the beautiful Flourished Oval Sentiments and Scalloped Oval 4-Floral stamp sets by Prickley Pear Stamps which I paired with the Flourished Oval Die and Flourished Oval Nesting Dies (also from Prickley Pear Stamps). This is another one of the many projects I created prior to leaving the team at the end of February and hadn’t yet showcased. I designed this double easel note card around the patterned paper this time which I rarely do… usually I have a design in my head, grab the paper and go from there. I have to say I’m really digging this color combo!

I cut the main card base from CutCardStock Cougar Smooth #100 White cardstock along with the second part of the card base, a layering panel and a flourished die cut from CutCardStock Lessebo Misty Blue. The patterned paper is from the Spellbinders Petite Patterns 6×9 paper pad. I then cut slightly smaller and larger flourished die cuts from CutCardStock Lessebo Sweet Mint. I stamped the focal image on the smaller one, colored it with alcohol markers and added some light green gemstones. A few blue gemstones completed the card front.

I cut the inside panel from CutCardStock Cougar Smooth 80# White cardstock and embellished it with leftover strips of the patterned paper and Sweet Mint cardstock used on the front. Since this is a note card, I left the inside panel blank.
