Mason Jar Fridge Magnet

Hey, everybody! Happy Monday to you! The weather sure is amazing this time of year, and as I’ve said many times before, I feel guilty for being inside crafting when I could spend all day outside enjoying it! But I do walk every day for exercise and enjoy some of it! I’m thrilled to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! I love thinking outside the box with my crafty creations, and I created a 3-D shaker refrigerator magnet featuring our Stones Stencil and Mason Jars Chipboard Embellishments! All it took to make the chipboard into a 3-D shaker was a couple double-sided adhesive foam strips and some acetate! The Stones stencil is one of several new stencils in the store and I used it with distress inks to embellish the banner on the front of the mason jar.

I started by coloring the top chipboard form of the Mason Jars Chipboard Embellishments as well as the edge of the chipboard back with a gray alcohol marker. I cut a piece of white cardstock and a piece of clear acetate the shape of the mason jar chipboard back, set aside the acetate piece, and colored three-quarters of the white cardstock with a yellow alcohol marker to resemble lemonade. I stamped a whimsical lemon in the bottom right corner in three coordinating yellow inks, and adhered the cardstock panel to the chipboard back so it’s visible through the aperture.

I adhered the paper straw in place and then added two double-sided adhesive foam strips around the edge of the mason jar, one on top of the other. I placed the top chipboard form onto the adhesive strips, added yellow sequins, and adhered the acetate piece on the very top to resemble glass. I added a twine bow around the top of the mason jar as well as a die cut banner with a computer-generated sentiment that I stenciled with the Stones Stencil and three distress inks.

I adhered a strip of cardstock around the outside edge of the mason jar to conceal the adhesive foam strip, and then adhered two small disc magnets on the back with distress collage medium which finished the project. I’m so smitten! One tweak turned this project into something entirely different than intended! Love, love, love!

Bunny Kisses & Easter Wishes

Hey, everybody, happy Friday to you! I hope you’ve had a most excellent week! Our weather has been so amazing – I think Spring has finally sprung here in SW Colorado! I’m thrilled to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! We have some new products in the store and I got to play with one of the new 3-D Frameables – the Base with Scallop Frame and Word n Shape Hoppy-Bunny – just in time for Easter! I used a combination of patterned papers, washi tape, alcohol markers and the hubby’s Dymo labeler from back in the day. Remember the Dymo labelers?! LOL! I’m not really laughing too hard because they are making a come-back… I’ve seen quite a few projects lately with those awesome funky vintage labels!

I started by covering the smaller base piece with green and white gingham paper and the larger base piece with green wood-look paper, and adhered them together. I then covered the scallop frame with ombre purple wood-look paper and added four long strips of purple skinny washi tape. I printed the large Easter sentiment on white cardstock, colored the hearts and eggs with alcohol markers, and adhered it between the layers of the frame. I covered the bunny with pink and white gingham paper and added mini wiggly eyes and a blue seam binding bow around her neck. I colored Hoppy with a yellow alcohol marker and added the Easter sentiment created with the Dymo labeler.

Here are a couple angled shots. This was such a fun project – I’m really enjoying these 3-D Frameables!

Coffee Lovers Mini Album

4/17/22 Rising Star at A Place To Start!

Happy Tuesday, everybody! I hope you’re having a great week! I’m thrilled to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! I created a Coffee Lovers Mini Album using our Blank Wood Card and Mini Shaker Coffee Mug with lots of room for photos and journaling! This is the coolest little shaker – it has three compartments for shaker bits! I had loads of fun putting this together even though I’m not a huge coffee drinker. Ed and I each have two cups every morning. Once in a while he’ll have an afternoon cup when it’s cold outside but since it keeps me awake at bedtime, I’ll join him with a cup of hot apple cider instead! ;)

I started by painting both sides of the Blank Wood Card panels with Java chalk paint and once dry, I lightly sanded the panels to expose the edges and corners for a little bit of a distressed look. I colored the top chipboard form of the Mini Shaker Coffee Mug along with the edges of the remaining forms and back with alcohol markers. I adhered pieces of three different patterns of Coffee Background ATCs from my stash to the chipboard back so they’re visible through the apertures. Then, working up from the bottom, I adhered the next two chipboard forms. I added shaker blends to the three compartments, removed the protective film from the bottom side of the acrylic divider, and adhered it. I removed the protective film from the top side of the acrylic divider, adhered the top chipboard form, and adhered the shaker to the top of the mini album. I added two coffee bean brads (prongs removed) with distress collage medium to complete the front of the album.

I cut four pages for the inside and punched holes in the tops. I created hole reinforcements using two circle punches, colored them with an alcohol marker, and adhered them to both sides of each page. Using a variety of cardstock, ATCs and other ephemera, dies, clear stickers, and brads, I decorated each page. The assembly is always the most fun to me! ;)

And here’s a shot of the back after I added the rings and ribbon.

And one more peek… so loving how this turned out! The sky is the limit with what you can create with the blank wood card! And there are tons of mini shakers to choose from! Lots of fun!

Hey, everybody! I hope your weather is getting fabulous like ours and you aren’t planning to work too hard this coming week! I’m thrilled to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! We have some new themed Word n Shape products in the store that coordinate with the Frameables bases and frames, and I’m thrilled to have been able to create with one of these new ones! This project features our Base with Square Frame and Word n Shape Vacation-Palm Tree. Who doesn’t love a vacation on the beach?!

I started by covering the small oval base piece with aqua cardstock and the large oval base piece with teal cardstock, and then adhered them together. I colored the palm tree and the Vacation word with alcohol markers. I left the frame untouched because I thought the raw wood color coordinated nicely with the beach scene. I printed the digital beach scene image on white cardstock, fussy cut the umbrella and trimmed the portion with the chairs which I sandwiched between the frame pieces. I adhered the umbrella on three layers of heavyweight cardstock and adhered it to the frame lining up the pole. I die cut letters from the aqua and teal cardstock and offset the teal ones beneath the aqua ones prior to adhering them to the top of the image. The finishing touches were adding the seashell brads (prongs removed) on the bottom right corner of the frame with collage medium and pearl bling strips around the larger oval portion of the base.

Here are a couple more angled shots. I really love how this turned out! The darker colors really pop on the lighter colors for some great contrast!

Scrappy hugs,

live your dream shaker card

Hi friends! Happy Thursday! Is the weather still pretty chilly where you are or is it warming up any? We are seeing very gradual increases in our temps during the day although we did recently get more snow, and we sure need the moisture. Overall, though, our winter has been pretty mild so we’ll probably have a warm summer! I’m thrilled to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! I created a pretty encouragement card in a green and pink color combo featuring our Mini Shaker Milk-Can and our 5×9 Circles Dots Stencil. Both products are new in the store and really fun to play with!

Let me start with an up-close shot of the Mini Shaker Milk-Can which I created first. Several of the embellishments are recycled from a tag my friend Ginny (from Polly’s Paper Studio) included in one of my orders a number of years back. The tag was super adorable so I kept it… but it got damaged while we were full-time RVers and I didn’t want to throw the entire thing away, so I salvaged the bow, the bird and the ticket. I adhered patterned paper to the chipboard back along with a small paper doily, a punched circle from another patterned paper, and the ticket. I adhered the next two chipboard forms, added white sequins, and adhered the acrylic divider (with the protective film removed) along with the remaining chipboard form. I adhered the bird on a die cut branch, three paper flowers, a charm, and the bow with hot glue.

I cut a mini slimline card base from 110# Solar White cardstock along with layering panels from 80# Solar White cardstock and patterned paper. Using the 5×9 Circles Dots Stencil with a dauber and green and pink distress inks, I stenciled the design on the white cardstock panel. I adhered the short patterned paper panel to the bottom, inked the edges, and adhered the panel to the card base. I die cut a shape from green cardstock using a labels die and adhered it to the card front. I adhered the finished shaker along with some iridescent gemstones which completed the front of the card.

I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with the patterned paper used on the front and a narrow strip of green cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in green ink and layered the panel on green cardstock.

And one more peek… this shaker was super fun to create, along with the stenciled background, and I’m thrilled with how the card turned out!

Some Bunny Loves You Easter Decor

3/20/22 Rising Star at A Place To Start!
4/3/22 Top 3 at International Art & Soul!

Happy Monday, everybody! Hope you had a great weekend and your weather is warming up… even just a little bit! It’s absolutely gorgeous here and I almost feel guilty for not being outdoors enjoying it! I’m thrilled to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! I created a fun Easter home decor project featuring our Medium DIY Egg Pallet Shape, Easter Chipboard Word Title and Bunnies Chipboard Embellishments. Spring is my second favorite season and I love everything that Easter represents!

I started by covering all three sections of the Medium DIY Egg Pallet Shape with a pretty pastel plaid patterned paper and the two narrow sections of the mounting stick that are visible from the front with CutCardStock Pop-Tone Grape Jelly cardstock. I always use Bearly Art precision craft glue to adhere the patterned paper to the pallet shape and run my brayer back and forth over it several times, and it sticks very nicely. I fashioned a small bow from a Really Reasonable Ribbon pink ribbon scrap and adhered it to the top with Ranger Distress Collage Medium.

Next I worked on the Easter Chipboard Word Title. I first colored it with a teal alcohol marker, and then applied Versamark (from my dirty ‘grunge’ Versamark pad) and Ranger Bridal Tinsel embossing powder, heat embossed it and let it cool down. I then applied Dare 2B Artzy Paradise ink directly from the ink cube, more Versamark (from my grunge pad) and Hero Arts Clear embossing powder, and heat embossed it a second time. I adhered the Easter word at an angle toward the top. I stamped the bunny sentiment in Catherine Pooler Midnight ink on a scrap of Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock, cut it with a My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics, and adhered it on 3-mm-thick adhesive tabs just under the Easter word.

I covered the Bunnies Chipboard Embellishments in Colorbok Bright pink and yellow-orange cardstock, added small cottontails made from cotton balls, and adhered them to the bottom center. I removed the prongs from three colored egg brads and adhered them at the bottom with Ranger Distress Collage Medium. The final touch was adding several YNS purple glitter Gumdrops.

And one more peek… super happy with how this turned out! It’s so simple but really packs a punch… and oh, those colors! These were definitely fun products to play with!

Scrappy hugs,

Retro Film Display

Hi friends! I keep saying that these Thursdays are rolling around mighty fast, but I guess it’s not a bad thing for all the working people because that means the weekend is close behind! When you’re retired, though, every day is like a weekend day, lol! I’m thrilled to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! I love creating vintage projects and since I had some retro ATCs in my stash, this project featuring our 8×8 Page Display along with our Film Strip Chipboard Embellishment just fell into place!

I started by rounding the corners of the six ATCs and then layering them on metallic red cardstock. I cut three 8″ x 8″ panels of white cardstock, rounded the corners, and layered them on top of one other for stability. I cut one 7-7/8″ x 7-7/8″ panel of black cardstock, rounded the corners, and adhered it on top of the white ones. I arranged the ATCs and when I was happy with the placement, I adhered them with Tape Runner and added red jewel brads to the center top of each one to resemble a thumb-tack type of embellishment. I slid the panel into the 8×8 Page Display and added an angled strip of metallic red cardstock to the top and bottom. I added a clear jewel strip to each red cardstock strip, white enamel arrows, and white die cut alphas.

I heat embossed the Film Strip Chipboard Embellishment with three layers of Versamark and black embossing powder so it was good and shiny. I adhered it to the right side of the display and added more die cut alphas.

The final touch was adding a ribbon hanger tied in a bow. Love, love, love how this turned out! Such a fun project!

Baby It’s Cold Outside

Happy Friday, everybody! We’re down another week – and we’ll be down another month in just a few days! Time is flying by! I’m excited to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! Since we still have a little bit more of the cold stuff ahead of us, I created a pretty Winter shaker note card featuring our Mini Shaker Window as well as our 4×6 Stars Stencil which I used for the night sky. I can only imagine how these cats feel looking out the window at the full moon in the starry sky, sparkling tall trees and snow banks! I’d be in love, lol!

I cut a standard A2 size card base from white cardstock and adhered a panel of patterned paper to it. I cut a panel of blue cardstock slightly larger than the shaker window, applied white paint over the 4×6 Stars Stencil with a dauber, then added a strip of glitter tall tree washi tape and two layers of snowbanks created from torn white cardstock. I traced the shape of the Mini Shaker Window on the panel, cut it out and adhered it to the back layer of the shaker. I always work from the bottom up when assembling shakers. I adhered the next two chipboard forms, then the acrylic layer (protective film removed), added white seed beads, and then adhered the top chipboard form which I colored with an alcohol marker.

I adhered a narrow strip of brown cardstock around the outside edge of the shaker to conceal the chipboard layers prior to adhering it to the card base. I adhered two die cut cats in front of the window, a vertical computer-generated sentiment down the left side and a very thin white cardstock strip down the right side to complete the card front.

I cut the inside panel from white cardstock and embellished it with the patterned paper used on the front as well as a narrow strip of brown cardstock. Since this is a note card, I left the panel blank leaving plenty of room for a handwritten note, and layered it on brown cardstock.

And one more look… really loving how this shaker note card turned out! This was a fun little scene to create!

Scrappy hugs,

Always My Valentine!

Happy Fri-YAY, friends! Hope you had a wonderful week and have something fun planned this weekend! I’m happy to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! I used the Love Desktop Frame to create a display for a pic of the hubs and I that was taken in 2009. I also used the 5×9 Feathers Layering Stencil to add some tone-on-tone detail to the heart cut-out. Even though this project is just in time for Valentine’s Day, it would definitely look great on a desktop all year long! This was a fun project that worked up fairly quickly with some paint, washi tape, bling and ribbon! I’ve never been keen on using red and pink together because we always thought they ‘clashed’ growing up, but I’ve been seeing more and more projects lately pairing the two colors together so I decided I was going to try my hand at it! And I think I like it! ;)

I started by painting the main L-O-V-E part of the Love Desktop Frame with pink chalk paint, the heart cut-out and large base piece with red acrylic paint, and the small base piece with white paint. I sandwiched the photo and a piece of acetate (to keep the photo dust-free) between the frame and the heart cut-out and adhered them all together. I covered three narrow strips of white cardstock with heart washi tape, adhered them to three of the letters, and affixed several red gemstones to each.

I used some distress ink and the Feathers Layering Stencil to add some tone-on-tone detail to the heart cut-out. The finishing touch was tying a small bow fashioned from white checkerboard satin ribbon.

Here is a shot from a different angle and one from the back. Love how this turned out! I sure do love my guy!

Hey, everybody! I hope you’re having a fantastic week and staying warm! We love our chilly weather and all I can say is brrrrr… it was 7 degrees when we got up this morning! I’m thrilled to be back on the Clear Scraps blog today with another awesome DT inspiration project! If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know that I’ve been having lots of fun creating alcohol ink backgrounds. Well I took the alcohol ink one step further and inked this Regular Acrylic Phone Stand! OMGosh, this was fun and so easy – acrylic really takes the inks well! And, as I do with my regular alcohol ink backgrounds (usually on vellum), I pressed gold foil onto the ink when it was just about dry to get some pretty veining.

I started by removing the protective film from one side of both of the phone stand pieces. I dropped Cranberry, Poppyfield, Watermelon, Sunset orange, Honeycomb, Sandal, Peach Bellini, Sunshine Yellow and Lemonade alcohol inks onto the surface of each acrylic piece. I added more ink to different areas and when I was happy with the coverage, I set them aside to dry. When they were almost dry, I pressed gold foil onto multiple areas, leaving small bits of the foil. The veining really pops on these colors. When they were completely dry, I painted the edges of both pieces with gold acrylic paint. When that was dry, I removed the protective film from the back of both pieces and covered them with gold cardstock and assembled the stand. The finishing touch was adding red enamel dots.

Here’s a shot of the back.

And one more angled view… I absolutely love how this turned out! A project that’s both beautiful and practical!
