I {heart} USA

Hey everybody, Happy Tuesday! I have THE coolest Keep It Simple DT inspiration project to share today created with the NEW Stars & Stripes Collection that just launched a few days ago. OMGosh, I love anything Americana and this collection is amazing – we have papers, stamps, dies, die cut pieces, ribbon, and enamel stars! I created a fun gift set of a Chandler purse with 4 notelets and envelopes. I’ve made several of these purses (which make great gift bags, too, by the way) using THIS tutorial from Bearly Arts but I always put my own twist on it. I wanted to mention that the entire Stars & Stripes bundle is a whopping 20% off but unfortunately this is one of the few instances that our 10% code cannot be used.

I created the Chandler purse from CutCardStock Basis 80# White and cut layering panels from coordinating papers in the Stars & Stripes 12×12 Collection Pack. I embellished the purse with die cuts from the Stars & Stripes Die Cut Pieces and several Stars & Stripes Enamel Stars, as well as a couple old navy blue brads from my stash. I used a disc magnet as the closure which is hidden behind the floral die cut popped up on thick double-sided foam circles.

I cut four notelets from Basis White and rounded the corners. I embellished them with papers from the Stars & Stripes 6×9 Collection Pack, die cuts from the Stars & Stripes Die Cut Pieces, and Stars & Stripes Enamel Stars. I used my We R Memory Keepers Pocket Punch Board to create the envelopes from HP Premium 32 copy paper for the notelets. Oh, so fun!

And for good measure, here’s a shot of the back. I just love how this turned out!

Lady Portia’s Dress

Hey everybody! It’s turning out to be a busy morning on my blog but I just had to share a special event going on in the Facebook Keep It Simple Inspiration Group! If you’re not already a member, pop over and join – there’s always something fun going on! Our lovely DT leader, Maureen, is an avid Bridgerton fan and came up with the idea of our design team recreating some of the debutante dresses for the Season 3 countdown and a “Who Wore It Better” event! How fun is that?! And there’s a challenge for our KIS fans to create a Bridgerton inspired project to get in on the chance to win the Keep It Simple Party Dress die set! The challenge ends on June 30th so get crackin’ if you want to play along!

I had never heard of this show but the idea sounded like loads of fun, so I chose to recreate Lady Portia’s dress. I hand-cut her dress instead of using the Party Dress die set because it was more of a fitted style. I used our Ruby, Jade, Rose and Mango Collection Packs for the papers, along with our Simply Spring Outline Dies for the flowers with Lemon Enamel Dots for the flower centers. This was fun, and although not an exact replica, it’s pretty darn close! ;)

Scrappy hugs,

Love to Sew!

Hey everybody! Well, another week has whizzed by and the weekend is almost here! I’m delighted to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you today created with the Bizzy Hands Creations Love To Sew stamp set. Our DT leader says today is National Sewing Machine Day so what better reason is there to create a disappearing nine patch card featuring a super adorable sewing machine to celebrate this fun day? Green and purple is one of my all-time favorite color combos so this card is a win-win for me!

A square card base was cut from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar white cardstock along with layering panels from light and dark green prints in the Back To Basics Jade 12×12 Collection Pack. I created the patchwork panel by cutting nine squares using a Back To Basics Stitched Squares Nested Die. I adhered three rows of three squares to a piece of lightweight copy paper, trimmed the edges of the copy paper, and then cut it quarters. I ran the four smaller squares through my Big Shot with another stitched die from the same set. I rotated the quarters until I was happy with the overall pattern and then adhered it to the darker green layering panel.

Any size squares can be cut (with or without a die) depending on how big or small you want your panel. The best size squares in my opinion are around 1-1/2″ so you end up with a 4-1/2″ or so square panel. I paper pieced the sewing machine onto the panel using two prints in the Back To Basics Lilac 12×12 Collection Pack, coloring some of the elements with Sharpie ultra fine point markers. The flowers and hearts were also paper pieced. I stamped the sentiment on a 80# Solar White cardstock scrap and fussy cut it which completed the card front.

I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock using a Back To Basics Stitched Squares Nested Die and layered it on the dark print from the Jade collection pack leaving a slightly larger border around the square. I finished the inside with a another sentiment from the stamp set stamped in black ink.

Scrappy hugs,

You’re my Cup of Tea

Hey everybody! Happy Saturday – I hope you had a great week and you’re looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend! I’m stoked to be back with another Keep It Simple DT inspiration project to share today created with papers, stamps and dies from the new Belle Collection. This collection is darling and I thought another pop-up window card was warranted to show off this little gal. I really love this fold – it’s so easy and really packs a punch! This is actually the second one of these I’ve made and I can’t remember where I originally saw it. Just cut an aperture (of any shape) into the front flap and save the die cut shape to use for the focal image. Add a pop up mechanism (simple tubular box) to the top back of the focal image so it stands up when the card is opened.

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Lessebo Misty Blue along with layering panels from coordinating prints in the Belle 12×12 Collection Pack and CutCardStock Cougar Smooth 80# White cardstock. I cut the oval aperture into the front flap using a Back To Basics Stitched Ovals Nested Die and also cut an oval from Cougar Smooth 100# White cardstock.

I stamped the princess, the tea pot and the tea cup from the Belle Collection Stamps in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Cougar White, colored them with alcohol markers, and cut them with the coordinating dies. I stamped the front sentiment from the same stamp set in Catherine Pooler Cove Blue ink and cut it with the coordinating die. The finishing touches were adding a couple Back To Basics Lemon Enamel Hearts and stamping an additional sentiment (from the Back To Basics Thank You Sentiments stamp set) inside in the blue ink.

Scrappy hugs,

lucky

Hey everybody, Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is going well! I’m delighted to share one more Keep It Simple DT inspiration project created with the adorable Lucky Day Collection. This was an extra project I made (sometimes I can’t help myself) and even though St. Patty’s Day is long past, I wanted to show it off. Collage style cards are so fun to make, layer after layer, and I love how this one turned out!

The landscape side-folding A2 size card base was cut from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock along with a frame and layering panel from coordinating papers in the Lucky Day 6×9 Collection Pack. I used the Stitched Rectangles Nested Dies to make the frame and popped it up on double-sided foam strips. Then the fun began… I chose a bunch of die cuts from the Lucky Phrases and Lucky Day Die Cut Pieces and began layering them, gluing some flat and adding foam squares behind some. When I was finished, I added several Jade Enamel Dots which completed the card front.

I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with another coordinating print from the 6×9 Collection Pack and more die cuts and phrases.

Scrappy hugs,

SUMMER banner

Hey everybody! Who is ready for SUMMER?! I am, I am! I sure do love the Summer months – the vitamin D, the beach, day rides, and the smells and sounds of Summer. Warm is okay but definitely not hot… I don’t do extreme heat in my old age. I’m stoked to be back with a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project to share that I created to celebrate Summer! I had it hanging on a wall in my studio before I took it down to send to the KIS owner, but it would be super easy to reproduce. Banners are so much fun and can be made in any size or shaped flags, and this one was no exception!

I cut the flags from assorted patterned papers from the Back To Basics Royal, Mango, Lemon, Rose, Jade and Lilac 12×12 Collection Packs along with a layering panel for each one cut from CutCardStock Pop Tone Black Licorice cardstock. I punched two holes in the top of each flag with my WRMK Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite. The letters were cut from the same Black Licorice cardstock using the KIS Cuts Twinkling Stars Font.

The leaves and flowers were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on scraps of Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock using stamps from the Simply Spring Collection Stamps. I colored them with alcohol markers and added some details with a Clear Star Gelly Roll pen. I cut them with the coordinating Simply Spring Outline Dies and adhered them, along with the letters, to the flags. I used an assortment of Back To Basics Enamel Hearts and Dots to embellish each flag, and then wove a length of Back To Basics Lemon Ribbon through each one, which completed the project. See how easy that was?!

Scrappy hugs,

Alphabet ATCs

Hi friends! Happy Thursday and almost end of May! Can you believe the year is almost half over?! I’m absolutely delighted to share another Keep It Simple DT inspiration project created with items in the new Floral Baby Collection! It’s been a minute since I made any ATCs so I crafted a set of six alphabet cards and coins. We have a Bunny, Jellyfish, Snail, Elephant, Turtle and Crab, all featuring Floral Baby Papers, KIS Cuts Land Babies and KIS Cuts Water Babies along with KIS Cuts Melody Stories Font. I love how these turned out!

I created the four 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ card bases and two 2-1/2″ coin bases from CutCardStock Cougar 100# Smooth White cardstock. I then picked out an assortment of patterned papers from the Floral Baby 6×9 Collection Pack for the backgrounds. Then the fun began… die cutting all the pieces for the Bunny, Jellyfish, Snail, Elephant, Turtle and Crab from cardstock using the KIS Cuts Land Babies and KIS Cuts Water Babies.

The assembly is always the most fun! I’ll list the cardstock used for each one below. I had some small CutCardStock Sandcastle scraps so I scribbled them with a black Copic Sketch marker and cut the six letters from the KIS Cuts Melody Stories Font. I used an assortment of Enamel Hearts and Dots on each one.

Scrappy hugs,

MOM slimline card

Hey everybody! Happy Tuesday! I’ve popped in this morning with a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project featuring our new KIS Slimline Cuts Stitched Hearts die, some gorgeous floral paper from the new Belle Collection and our new KIS Cuts Twinkling Stars Font Outline Dies. This card has some fussy-cut roses popped up on foam squares and could easily be used for Mother’s Day or Mom’s birthday!

My go-to size 3-3/4″ x 9″ slimline card base was cut from CutCardStock Cougar Smooth 100# White cardstock along with layering panels from CutCardStock Bright Gold Foil and Lessebo Dawn Maroon cardstock. I cut the top layering panel from a floral paper in the Belle Collection using the KIS Slimline Cuts Stitched Hearts die.

I fussy cut four rose clusters which I popped up on foam squares and then added the word MOM cut from the gold foil cardstock using the KIS Cuts Twinkling Stars Font Outline Dies. The finishing touch was adding several pearls from the Kat Scrappiness Gold Pear Mix.

I cut the inside panel from Cougar Smooth 80# White cardstock and embellished it with strips of the floral paper from the Belle Collection and the Dawn Maroon cardstock. I stamped a sentiment using the Back To Basics Birthday Sentiments stamp set in Memento Paris Dusk ink.

Scrappy hugs,

hello Spring fun fold

Hey everybody! I hope you’ve had a great week! I have a pretty Keep It Simple DT inspiration project to share today created with papers, stamps, dies and die cut pieces from the new Simply Spring Collection! The front flap fold is probably one of my all-time favorite fun folds because it’s so easy and really packs a punch. Who isn’t ready for Spring (finally) after the cold weather we had that just wouldn’t quit, lol!

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Cougar 100# Smooth White cardstock along with layers from coordinating prints in the Simply Spring 12×12 Collection Pack. I embellished the front with Simply Spring Die Cut Pieces and several Back To Basics Jade Enamel Dots. I scored the two butterflies so the wings would give the illusion of flight.

I cut the inside panel from CutCardStock cougar 80# Smooth White cardstock which I embellished with a few more die cuts from the Simply Spring Die Cut Pieces. I stamped a sentiment from the Simply Spring 6×8 Collection Stamps in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and cut it with the coordinating Simply Spring Outline Dies.

Scrappy hugs,

Happy Holidays shaker

Hey everybody! I hope you’ve had a great week! It’s turning out to be a busy Friday morning on my blog! I have a super fun Keep It Simple DT inspiration project to share featuring our new line of Sprinkles. With this feature comes an awesome promo… buy three Sprinkles items and get one free! We have beads, polymer clay, crushes, glitter, rhinestones and sequins… choose from many styles and occasions! And remember to use my code LoveToScrap2 for 10% off your entire order! There is no minimum purchase requirement and no usage limits, AND it combines with product, order, and shipping discounts! Pop over to the Keep It Simple Instagram Page for a fun Hop and Giveaway!

I created an adorable mini slimline shaker card with papers, stamps and dies from our Scandinavian Christmas Collection as well as beads, polymer clay and sequins from our Sprinkles line! I used our new KIS Slimline Cuts Stitched Squares die to cut the shaker apertures. The colors in the Scandinavian Christmas Collection are non-traditional Christmas colors and I love that! I used tulle for the shaker this time rather than acetate. This was just a fun card all the way around!

The 3-1/2″ x 6″ mini slimline card base was cut from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating papers in the Scandinavian Christmas 12×12 Cardstock and Collection Packs. Using the KIS Slimline Cut Stitched Squares die, I cut two apertures in the snowflake patterned paper, adhered tulle on the back side, and added some GKD Shaker Strips.

I stamped the gnome and birds from the Gnomes Collection Stamps in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on 80# Solar White cardstock, colored them with alcohol markers, and cut them with the coordinating Gnomes Outline Dies. I then stamped the snowflake and sentiment in Catherine Pooler Over Coffee ink, cut the snowflake with the coordinating outline die and fussy cut the sentiment.

I added Iridescent Snowflake Sequins, Brown Polymer Clay Dots, White Polymer Clay Hearts, 2mm Matte Red Beads, Candy Cane Red & White Polymer Clay Christmas Mix and Red Peppermint & Chocolate Polymer Clay Mix – all from the new Sprinkles line. I sealed the shaker and adhered the elements to the card front.

I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a leftover strip of the snowflake paper used on the front. I stamped an additional sentiment from the Gnomes Collection Stamps in the brown ink which completed the card.
